A/N: This review episode of this story will be the first to be mostly a flashback session, explaining how Team RWBY first met Maka and Tsubaki prior to the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice review, which this review episode will take place directly before the events of the BvS review. Also takes place chronologically and immediately after the events of the Simon Sez review.

P.S.: I apologize for the long wait. Been doing some transcripts and busy with some stuff due to the COVID pandemic. Even worse, my laptop charger was accidentally bent after I dropped it (fortunately the laptop still works) and I accidentally broke it. Hopefully Amazon has something that almost matches the one I have... Luckily, I'm ordering two just in case with one of them being almost the exact same as my old charger. Here's hoping... :(

In this thirty-first non-canon review, Ruby and Yang recollect the events when they, Blake and Weiss not only first met Maka Albarn and her death weapon partner girlfriend Tsubaki Nakatsukasa during their first trip to Death City in Nevada, but also with Ruby and Yang having the chance to review the 2013 Zack Snyder DC superhero movie Man of Steel with Maka for the first time together and ever, which would trigger their fight against the summer blockbuster in the process.

Ruby Rose, Yang Xiao Long and Maka Albarn's Commentary of Man of Steel (Part 1)

BEACON
5:30 PM

Immediately after the news from Cameron that she, some of her friends and Yume were going off to Niagara Falls due to a raffle contest Kasuga won earlier, team RWBY returned to their dorm room after Blake and Weiss finished their Simon Sez review with Yume.

"How much of a flop was it?", asks Ruby.

Weiss told, "You could say it only got almost 6% of its budget back in the box office."

"And it got only a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes.", says Blake.

Yang was shocked, "Zero percent?! Now me and Ruby can tell it's bad."

"Definitely. That must've been one of the worst movies we've ever heard since I and Yang both reviewed Bio-Dome together.", the team leader of RWBY said.

The Faunus agreed, "The 90's must be complicated back then. Tons of nostalgia but kinda strange ideas in the cinematic industry back then."

"Still, there's a ton of other movies out there that does look pretty good. Over the years, we've recieved some spectacular films involving dinosaurs, monsters, superheroes...", continued the heiress.

The blonde huntress adds, "Speaking of that last one, that reminds us. We still remember, right?"

"What?", Ruby, Blake and Weiss confused.

Yang reflected, "You know...that Man of Steel review we all did with Maka?"

"Maka... Just now, I remember the first time we've met her and Tsubaki that time. We totally forgot about that not just because of that Batman v Superman review, but there were other movie reviews, and some Grimm fighting, and some schoolwork, and some more Grimm fighting!", Ruby groaned.

Blake and Weiss confided, "We're pretty sure we still remember it, right? Death City was actually kinda quaint. We went over that weekend some time after that...Alien review? By the thoughts of that ripoff, we aren't gonna bring that up."

Ruby looked over to the display on a wall where the Super Bowl LII replica trophy that team RWBY had won for their succesful field goal at the end of the game for the winning team The Philadelphia Eagles, along with some of the headlines relating to the news. There were also a few pictures of team RWBY themselves with some being with some of their friends, including Maka and Tsubaki on one of them taken around the time RWBY first went to Death City.

"I remember them like it was only a short matter of time...but went through a lot together like Athena or Sinon...", recounts the red-black-haired girl.

As Ruby took the picture featuring her, Yang, Blake and Weiss, and friends Maka and Tsubaki, her teammates walked over and joined Ruby in looking at the picture.

The four of them solemnly looked at the picture, reflecting back to the day the team met them...

One year earlier...

DEATH CITY, NEVADA
2:45 PM

Team RWBY were visiting Death City for the first time ever during a weekend, after a period of some training and schoolwork a few days prior.

"This place is amazing! Not only do the food here tasted great, but does anyone notice that most of these places here have the word Death on it? It feels like Disneyland, which is sort of a good thing. The sun and the moon here though...they look kinda gothic.", Ruby told her friends as they went around together.

Yang says, "Why don't we check out the big academy here? The brochures conveniently said there's an academy for death weapons and meisters. What the heck does that mean?"

"Probably a bunch of warriors who have weapons like us. It's their own way of hunters and huntresses.", Blake told.

Weiss mentions, "So basically this is their interpretation of our combat and study... I would like to see them in action, though."

"Then it's best if we go see for ourselves. Come on.", Ruby said as she led her team on their way to the academy through the outskirts of the city.

About ten minutes after, they finally came across the steps of the academy. To their horror, they looked to see that there was hundreds of steps way up to the top.

"That's gonna be a long walk...", Ruby said as they started climbing up the stairs, "Come on, girls. Hopefully we'll get to see some action..."

Yang panted, "Can hardly wait..."

"We're with you...", Blake and Weiss said as they climbed the stairs with Ruby and Yang.

Many dozens of steps later, team RWBY were starting to feel tired after climbing up over 125 of the endless-like stairs they had to come across.

Then another 100 stairs later, they were almost reaching the top.

"This is it, guys! We're almost there!", Ruby said while she, Yang, Blake and Weiss were still walking up the countless stairs...

...but Ruby trips on one of the steps!

"Wh-whoa! W-w-w-w-w-w-w-WHOA-", Ruby surprised as she tries to keep her balance, but ends up losing her footing and falling backwards in Yang, Blake and Weiss' way!

Ruby accidentally bumps into her teammates behind, as the four of them shout in pain when they stumble down the stairway.

"OW! OW! OW! OW! OW! OW! OW! OW!", team RWBY shouted as they rolled down many flights of stairs.

They ultimately land in a safe section of the stairs that connected one flight of stairs to another, the four girls lying on the ground together as they groaned in pain.

"What...was that...all about?", Weiss groaned.

Ruby apologized, "I'm sorry...I lost my footing."

"That's just great. Why is there so many flights of stairs here? Plus, it makes it suspectible to lose anyone's footing and get injuries from rolling down. Good thing the four of us didn't get hurt.", Yang said, hugging her abdomen from the fall.

Blake sighs, "Well...then we have to get back up again, cause we never give up."

"Are you okay?"

The female voice is heard by RWBY, with Ruby, Yang, Blake and Weiss looking over to see a figure coming towards them and standing above the downed girls, blurried by the sunlight.

"Yeah, we suppose so.", Ruby said to the figure, as she offers her hand to help her up.

As Ruby, Yang, Blake and Weiss get up, the girls saw what the figure looked like.

She had fair skin and light-taupe hair kept in pigtails, wearing a black trench coat with a cloak-like end, a white blouse with a yellow sweater vest, a green striped tie, a red plaid skirt, and black boots with white buckles, and also had dull green eyes that were sometimes pupilless and sometimes not.

"Are you guys new here?", sweetly said the taupe-haired girl.

The red-black-haired huntress answered, "We aren't planning to register here. Me and my teammates were just visiting Death City for the first time today. Sorry about that..."

"That's okay. Where are you guys from?", the green-eyed girl asked.

The silver-eyed huntress replies, "We're from a planet called Remnant. It's like the planet Earth here, but more fantasy-like and technologically magical."

"I've heard about that place, but me and my friends haven't been there.", she said, "Anyways, what are your names?"

"I'm Ruby Rose. These are my fellow teammates Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and my sister Yang Xiao Long. We're also known as team RWBY, reigning as a team from Beacon Academy. Yours?"

"Maka Albarn. I am a two-star meister here at the Death Weapon Meister Academy. Me and my partner Tsubaki Nakatsukasa have been working together when it comes to soul-hunting sometimes."

Ruby and Yang smiled, "Please to meet you, but...who's Tsubaki?"

"Wait up!"

Another feminine voice was heard as they saw another girl come down the stairs to meet with Maka.

This girl had white skin, large shimmering indigo eyes, long black hair tied up in a ponytail, and was a tall, attractive and rather well-endowed young woman of Japanese descent. She wore a pale yellow, sleeveless outfit with a skirt end that has a slit down the side with a bright yellow star emblazoned on the right side of the chest, a dark brown scarf and a tight dark brown stocking on her right leg starting just above the knee and white boots, a sash that wraps around her waist twice and hangs down diagonally from right to left, and grey-black bandages on her arms from the shoulder down with a star-symbolized sweatband on it on each of her wrists.

"Who are these girls?", politely said the black-haired tall girl to Maka, smiling dearly.

The two-star meister smiled, "These four are named Ruby Rose, Yang Xiao Long, Blake Belladonna and Weiss Schnee. They happen to come from a world called Remnant at a place called Beacon Academy, and they're a team named RWBY."

"So...you must be Tsubaki?", Blake and Weiss presumed.

The partner of Maka said, "Yes, I am. Tsubaki Nakatsukasa. I am a demon shadow death weapon partner of Maka Albarn."

"A demon shadow death weapon?", Ruby asked, "That has us wondering... This is legitimately the first time we've come to a place like this..."

Maka sighed proudly, "Observe."

Albarn turned to Nakatsukasa as they both nodded.

All of a sudden, Tsubaki then engulfed into a bright yellow light, quickly transforming in the form of a shining bolt shooting up in the air as the yellow brightness manifests itself into the shape of a chain scythe.

The light dies down, as it shows a long metal chain with each end of the chain tipped with a yellow handle that has a small double-edged and double-pointed scythe blade attached, having three dark grooves appear below each blade, and adored with yellow dots on the handles, making them appear as if they have eyes.

As it falls, Maka grabs the chain scythe with ease and does a battle pose.

Team RWBY were shocked by the result.

"Wai- What- Tsubaki!", Ruby exasperated in a panic.

Yang said, "Where is she?"

"Did she just turn into...", Blake supposed.

Weiss surprised, "A chain scythe?!"

"Don't worry about it. Death weapons have the capability to transform into weapons for meisters like me to wield and do battle with because of a gene that allows them to shift. They're able to transform back into their human forms whenever it is appropriate and safe to do so, and it takes a whole lot of training to get the hang of it.", explained Maka.

Ruby asked, "Hold on, can meisters turn into weapons too?"

"No. Meisters are warriors who wield these death weapons... Hell, most of the meisters and their weapon partners have bonded so well, including me and Tsubaki.", the taupe-haired girl expositioned.

Yang tilted her head in question, "What do you mean?"

As Maka held Tsubaki's chain scythe form, the weapon glowed again as the light grew back into the shape of a human a moment later.

And after the light dissipates again, Tsubaki was back in her human form with her clothes still intact, but was now being held bridal-style by Maka in her arms, despite Tsubaki being taller than her partner.

"If you haven't noticed just now, we're lovers.", the two-star meister said, setting the record straight.

Ruby bashfully kept her cool, "No biggie... Me and Yang are a couple although we're related, but Blake and Weiss here are in love with each other too."

"It's a coincidence.", excused Blake and Weiss.

Yang says, "We were just curious about how meisters and death weapons work here, but since you told us, we thank you. Anyways, where are you off to?"

"School's already finished today. Me and Maka are already on our way back to our apartment. Wanna come?", Tsubaki offered.

Team RWBY respond in unison, "Do we ever?", accepting as the four started walking with Maka and Tsubaki, the former meister putting down her girlfriend after carrying her; Ruby then said to Maka, "So how does wielding a chain scythe feel for you?"

"Well, not only does it make me feel like an very brave warrior, it also makes me feel like some kind of ninja.", Maka told them.

Ruby and Yang asked, "Ninja?"

"Because not only I can turn into a chain scythe, but I can also transform into a smoke bomb, a shuriken, an uncanny sword, a ninja sword, and I can be able to make a dummy decoy of the weilder and myself as a weapon.", Tsubaki told them.

Yang smirked, "That's good to know. Now that makes you feel like a real ninja. Even heard sometimes that ninjas can go barefoot or wear split-toed shoes or socks and whatever."

"Feels like it.", the taller partner of Maka said.

Blake and Weiss addled, "And your classes today are already finished? What happened?"

"Ended an hour ago. In that spare time, I happened to talk to Tsubaki and my other friends about one of the worst games I have ever played, Rambo: The Video Game.", Maka recounted.

Ruby nods, "Oh, we heard about that. Yeah, movie-licensed games are almost the thing of the past."

"Other than that before we left, that's basically it. Although that game has taken me a hard time because of its archival usage of the Rambo films. Even the last stage was pretty hard!", the taupe-haired girl sighs.

The team leader of RWBY noticed and asked her, "I see you review games, right?"

"Right. Alongside my studies with Tsubaki and my friends here from time to time, yes."

"For us, we review movies from here and there. We did some in the past, me and my teammates, such as Son of the Mask, Foodfight, Devil, Lady in the Water, and by far the worst horror film ripoff we've ever done, Alien 2: On Earth."

"That doesn't sound like a good film. Is it one of those movies that happen to be inferior international ripoffs to the original, although critically-acclaimed Westernized sequels were made and released in the future?"

"Yep. But that film almost scarred us for life. Maybe an insult to the Alien franchise, but the director at one point even sued The Descent for his idea! We seen that one, and there was no problem or no reason for it to be sued..."

"I understand. So...were you thinking of-"

"Doing a review together? Actually, that sounds like a great idea."

"Then I am glad to join you guys to do it. Maybe Blake and Weiss can also hang out with Tsubaki around the city.", Maka sorted out.

Blake and Weiss interested, "Yeah, we believe a hangout should be best suitable."

"So what movie are you thinking we can do?", the meister asked.

The red-black-haired huntress suggests, "Man of Steel."

"The Superman film that has Henry Cavill? Yeah, I heard about it and seen it. It was awesome... What did you think of it?", Maka said.

Ruby and Yang looked at each other and said, "It wasn't that good."

"Really? You sure about that?", the tall black-haired ninja girl curiously said.

Ruby sighs, "We'll talk more when we get to your place.", as they continued en route to Maka and Tsubaki's place.

Some time after, they arrived at the apartment complex where Maka and Tsubaki live, which actually doesn't look bad on the outside, which was the one five stories up that was extended out from the structure and had a green color opposing to the white-colored entirety of the complex.

"Safe to assume the green one is yours?", Yang smirked.

Tsubaki sweetened, "Absolutely."

"Well...that's pretty artistic.", commented the blonde huntress.

Going up to the 5th floor, the six of them all went to where Maka and Tsubaki's apartment was at. When Maka and Tsubaki open the door to the humble home as the six enter, team RWBY went inside as they have a closer look.

The interior of the complex wasn't too shabby. The living room wasn't too big, but it still had enough space for multiple visitors. While the flooring of the living room had a tatami style to it, the living room has an armchair, two couches surrounding a coffee table and a few bookshelves containing not only books but about hundreds of games spanning from gaming systems for Microsoft's Xbox lineup, Sony's Playstation lineup and Nintendo's. The walls are decorated with numerous posters while some collectibles were placed on some of the shelves, while the living room itself appears to also have a 4K/3D television set, a stereo set, and a gramophone. A chabudai table was sitting in the middle of the room, and a small alcove with a jar of flowers before a scroll hung up on the wall with Japanese calligraphy was seen in the room. The kitchen happens to be adjoined to the kitchen as well, which includes a counter, a table with two chairs, a fridge, and a dishwasher. The door to the kitchen had a shoji door, while the bathroom and both Maka and Tsubaki's rooms all had fusama doors.

"Make yourselves comfortable.", Maka politely said.

Ruby looks around the room with Yang, Blake and Weiss, "Whoa...this looks like you two have a humble home. It's a bit of a trail mix, if you know what we mean. It's like we've transported back in time to the Sengoku period, but with major anachronisms and modern technology."

"Yeah. My girlfriend loves the Japanese culture since she is a descendant from the Nakatsukasa clan. But we both like to mix our styles for our home here.", Maka explained, "It wouldn't be done without my Camellia Blossom."

"Camellia Blossom?", exasperated Blake and Weiss in surprise.

Tsubaki giggled, "Oh! It's my alias. Maka calls me that sometimes since I'm her girlfriend and trusted DWMA partner. The saying means 'a flower without a fragrance, blooming silently and looking tragic when its petals scatter'."

"Pretty poetic when you say it like that.", interested Yang.

The leader of team RWBY sighs as she looks at the bookselves with games stacked and shelved in it, "It looks like you have your own video game collection, huh? I can see you have multi-platform games here too."

"Yeah, I play in my spare time here and there. I manage my studies along the way for my school so there's no problem for me falling back on my grades. There are still times where I tell my girlfriend and my other friends about those games I play.", the meister said.

"Like what consoles do you play, per say?"

"Mostly includes XBOX 360 and XBOX ONE, as well as PS3, PS4 and PC. I play Nintendo Wii, Wii U and Nintendo Switch every now and then for my free time."

"How did you think about Rambo: The Video Game?"

"My final verdict? A 2/10. It's one of the worst rail-shooter games ever created that relies too much on archival audio from the Rambo movies, and especially that the last level was EXCRUCIATINGLY hard."

"We'd see why. The movies we review lately have been as bad as that, I can tell. Putting that aside, why don't we go start our Man of Steel review?", Ruby delighted.

Maka accepts, "With pleasure. Can't believe this is the first time I'm reviewing something with guests from Remnant."

"Blake, Weiss, would it be alright if you go with Tsubaki around the town for a while? The three of us are gonna review now.", Yang told her friends.

Blake and Weiss said, "No problem."

"I can't wait to show you guys around," said Tsubaki as she led the two out of the room as she plans, "We can go to the shopping district and maybe get some souvenirs for you and your friends when you go...", before the door closes.

Ruby sighs in leisurement, before she, Yang and Maka sat down as they start their review; she remarks with her elder sister, "MAN OF STEEL SUCKS!"

"What are you talking about?", Maka said, startled by the girls' opinion; "Man of Steel is freaking awesome, and you know it!"

Yang supposes, "Yeah, maybe for blood-hungry psychopaths, die-hard fans of DC Comics movie fans, and Zack Snyder fanatics, but for those of us who love an American icon, it's bullshit!"

"This is a new kind of Superman, Critic. He's obviously the one we may have grew up with.", the meister said.

The red-black-haired huntress said, "Yeah, that kinda made sense!"

"Like what, time-traveling? Flying around the world?"

"That...MOSTLY made sense back in its time."

"Sorry to tell you this, but you two just can't accept the fact that this is something new, and while we all know that the first two films are legendary, besides the third and fourth ones, it's time for a different way of looking at the story that's been told a thousand times the same way.", the taupe-haired girl politely said.

The blonde huntress continues, "Okay, look, I'm sorry about our opinion, so I'll tell you what: I am willing to look at this in a new light, because, hey, we should be willing to accept things from a new point of view. I will still try my best to accept this as its own unique thing, without drawing any references from the original movies."

"Fair deal.", Maka agreed.

Ruby adds, "But you have to acknowledge that when a moment sucks, it fucking sucks, no matter how much testosterone-filled bullshit is in it!"

"I make no promises. But for the most part, I accept.", told the chain scythe meister.

The leader of team RWBY ensure, "Well, let's look at the movie that has the internet totally split down the middle. This is either the absolutely loved or absolutely hated, or more of an absolutely mixed, Man of Steel."

Man of Steel

"We start off with the birth of our hero on the planet every sci-fi movie ever made, Krypton, and seeing how this is a Zack Snyder film, everything obviously looks like H.R Giger's hand-me-downs or penises.", Ruby began the movie, proving as they watch the scene with the pods being launched into space, the shape of them looking like it, "LOOK AT THESE THINGS! Tell me that doesn't look like The Little Mermaid poster!"

"I actually quite like the new Krypton look.", confessed Maka in her own opinion, "Sci-fi, medieval mesh, interesting wildlife, but I suppose the floating robots do look a bit like the hairdo in The Last Airbender."

Yang said, "First of all, we haven't done The Last Airbender yet, and second, we have interpretations of THAT in barbed wire, as our high council is wearing what I assume is Krypton's version of mini roller coasters.", imagining the subject.

"A lot of you know the drill here. Superman's father, Jor-El, played by Russell Crowe, is trying to convince the higher-ups that the planet Krypton is about to explode and nobody believes him. But hell, the entire world blowing up isn't exciting enough. Let's throw in a hostile takeover while we're at it, too.", the red-black-haired girl continued as the three watch the said scene, explaining, "This particular hostile takeover is lead by General Zod, played by Michael 'Why does everybody say I lisp like Willem Dafoe?' Shannon."

When Jor-El in the movie asks Zod about who survives which bloodline will survive, the blonde huntress imagined, "I bet Zod would say, 'I humbly accept your nomination.'", abstracting after, "So, seeing how Zod's fought off this world's equivalent of White House security so easily, it only makes sense that Jor-El should be able to fight off Zod's army that broke through this world's White House security so easily.", shrugging unsurely, "I think..."

"He rides on his dragonfly...dragon, picks up yet another subplot, because Lord knows we don't have enough of those going on in this opening, and plans to put it in a spacepod sending his son to Earth, who'll be the only survivor.", the leader of team RWBY continues as they see Jor-El make his final goodbyes to his son before he evacuates him to space; "Aw, shoot, now we gotta have that pesky emotion. Come on, guys, this is a Christopher Nolan story. You can throw more subplots. At least strap that baby to a bomb or something.", before summarizing, "He rises from the dentist's chair and is sent out towards Earth, just as Zod's forces arrive.", mimicking one of Zod's soldiers as the general orders him to concentrate fire on the main door, "Yes, person who clearly has no microphone attached to his mouth."

Ruby's elder sister reacts when Zod asks where Jor-El's son was as the general later responds by saying heresy but with a 'sh' sound at the end before commanding his soldiers to try destroying the pod about to leave, "Did he stuff a bag of marshmallows in his mouth before talking? He's like, 'Hereshy! Reshtoy hmm!', while he's eating marshmallows!", causing her, Ruby and Maka to snicker and laugh; "Actually, the funny thing about Michael Shannon's performance is how he manages to be over-the-top extreme and...under-the-bottom restrained. It's kinda like watching Jerry Lewis act.", mimicking a Jerry Lewis impersonation, "He may start off low and appear not to be very interested, but then, in a millisecond, he can change into wa-hey with the screaming and the yelling and the nice LADY!"

"I can see that. In my opinion, he did great. Michael Shannon is a damn good Oscar-nominated actor. He was portraying a bitter, single-minded man who has nothing to lose as he's pushed to the breaking point.", Maka thought.

Ruby questioned politely, "Yeah, but does his breaking point have to sound like a bulldog?", imagining this during a few of Michael Shannon's overreacting scenes.

"Yeah, well at least he doesn't sound like a screaming goat when he yells.", the taupe-haired girl told.

The red-black-haired huntress said, "It's a good thing he didn't.", smiling before she comments next, "But Zod gets the best of him just before security gets the best of Zod. This calls for Hans Zimmer bwowm! I'm sorry, but is anyone else sick of that sound yet? I swear, if Hans Zimmer did the music to 'You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown', it'd be 'You're A Good Man, Charlie Bwowm'.", continuing, "So Zod is sentenced to imprisonment in the Phantom Zone.", with Zod in the scene saying to Jor-El and Lara that though his son is safe, he will find him.

"Sorry, didn't quite catch that.", snickers the blonde sister of Ruby as Zod in the film says it again, "No, still didn't get it.", Zod saying it again in the film firmly, "Mm, still not coming through. Tell you what, say it as loud and ridiculously hammy as your cartoonishly large eyes and mouth will allow.", as Zod in the movie yells 'I WILL FIND HIM!' sporadically, "Now I hear you. No, you won't. Bye!", as she and Ruby laughed, just as Zod and his soldiers were banished to the Phantom Zone as the pods looked like penises again before Yang stutters and sputters, "I swear to the Gods- Look at it! Look at it!", summarizing, "So they wait for the inevitable as it's the end of the world as they know it, and everyone feels blandly fine."

Ruby then states as two pods approach next to Lara and asks if she should find refuge as the Kryptonian world was ending, "She's like, 'What? I can't hear you over the incredibly quiet destruction of the world!'", just as Krypton explodes while the pod containing Kal-El flew through space, "So Kal-El travels to the planet known as Earth where he lands...on an episode of Deadliest Catch.", as the film had seemingly skipped time in the story, "Okay, we may have skipped forward a touch, but at least we now have time to give Clark Kent, played by Henry Cavill, some proper development for his character.", before an oil rig in the film was shown burning in the distance, "Or just blow shit up again. Because the past twenty minutes clearly haven't shown enough of that.", while Clark was seen ripping a steel door and was only wearing a pair of pants as he tries to help keep the oil rig from becoming more damaged.

"I am Leonidas-Wolverine-Brawny Man! Follow my non-flammable pants to freedom!", giggled Yang as the film suddenly cuts to Clark's childhood after the oil rig explodes and Clark was laying underwater from the disaster, "Oh, we're in THIS kind of story."

Maka asked, "What kind of story?"

"The out of order story that got critical acclaim with Memento so Nolan's been trying to use it with every film he's been attached to? He's a boy, he's a man, he's a teenager, he's a boy again, he's a man. And it wouldn't be so bad if he would at least talk about what he's going through, but he never does.", the blonde explained.

The meister supposes, "Wait, aren't you the one saying that Nolan films have too much dialogue already? Like how in some of the Nolan IMAX films how they switch the IMAX aspect ratio to anamorphic for dialogue scenes?"

"Well, kind of...sorta...maybe... It depends on how you use it. If it's needed, use it. If it's not, don't.", taught Ruby's elder sister.

The chain scythe wielder responds, "Well, you actually don't need it here. Scenes like Clark as a boy getting used to his powers are already emotional scenes. You don't have to explain."

"Well, I suppose that's true. Scenes like this are good on their own, but we're getting background on a guy whose personality we're never given time to know. Look at this. We have a flashback to his childhood, then we cut back to present time. Then literally one minute later, we get another flashback to his childhood. Welcome back! Missed ya! They never give any time to understand this guy! I've gotten to know the personality of my Minute Rice more than I have this person.", Ruby agrees on Maka's opinion.

Maka nods, "So what's wrong with that? Sometimes there's a lot of us who constantly get flashbacks out of nowhere about their troubling childhood, or sometimes crucial events in their lifetimes.", just before she mentioned, "Hey, I remember the time when me and Tsubaki went on a mission to obtain 100 kishin souls, and after we got 99 souls, the 100th soul was mistaken to be a witch?"

"Never heard of that.", Yang tilted her head.

The meister girl says, "Because of all that, me and Tsubaki had to restart the 100 kishin soul hunt mission, at the same time that Black Star and his partner Soul Eater, as well as Death the Kid and the Thompson twins Liz and Patty, had the same thing, who are also our friends at the academy. Thus it led to a series of...complicated events, while taking the risk of expulsion."

"Interesting. Well, the more I learn about this, the better.", the Crescent Rose wielder approved before saying, "So after countless moments of intense scenes and harsh action, what is this flashback gonna show? Some intense scenes and harsh action. Wow, this film's running the gambit of all two things that can be done with a movie.", saying the next scene, "So young Clark saves the bus of kids which leads to the dismay of his father Jonathan Kent, or John for short, played by that-voicebox-that-sounds-like-Kevin-Costner. Or it's just Kevin Costner, because they're pretty easy to mix up.", adding up, "And this, of course, gives way to one of the controversial parts of the movie; John Kent saying he should've let the kids on the bus die.", asking Maka, "Yeah, what've you got to say about that, Maka?"

The taupe-haired girl said, "In a minute. I like to mention that back then, we had to go on many adventures together, Tsubaki and I, that was around the time Crona came around."

"Crona?", Ruby and Yang ask.

Maka explained, "Another friend of ours, but she's also...sort of another girlfriend. But not to be rude, I probably prefer Tsubaki more, but Crona is still a dear friend of ours."

"That explains it."

"By the way, which scene are we at?"

"The scene where John Kent says 'drown the bastards'."

"Hey, hey. He doesn't say 'let them die'. He says 'maybe let them die'."

"...That's much better?!", disbelieved Ruby and Yang.

Maka tells them, "Well, it's his way of saying he doesn't know, and that's what's so great about it, because it mimics real life far more than previous Superman films. It shows that people don't always have the answers.", confusing the two huntresses as the meister girl made a pouty look on her face, "All he knows is that he doesn't want his son to be discovered and hurt. But he never says 'let them die'. He says he doesn't know."

"Okay, fine. Tough confusing world. Why can't Superman's father talk to him like a father?", questions the leader of team RWBY.

The chain scythe wielder says, "What do you mean? He's the one that builds him up."

"And that's it! Every line in this movie is just talking about what a messiah he is! He's less of a tough father and more like a stereotypical Jewish mother, if only we could imagine.", reasons the red-black-haired girl.

The taupe-haired girl says, "But those are some strong well-written words, though."

"It's every boring destiny monologue we've heard before."

"Yeah... Like?"

"You know, including this movie, Batman Begins, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, the X-Men animated TV series, and The Elephant Man? All of those had quite the same sentence.", defended Yang, waiting for the DWMA student's response.

Maka answered, "H-he said it differently, though..."

"Reasonable.", the blonde huntress said as they continue watching the film as Jonathan Kent shows his son the pod he arrived to Earth in and gives him a strange object from the ship that was given to him years ago, explaining that the object wasn't part of the periodic table and was from his homeworld; "He's like, 'They surprisingly asked no questions and let me take my miracle stone home without ever calling anybody. See, they knew how to keep a secret.'", continuing, "And it turns out years later, Clark does a good job carrying that secret, like when a bully inflicts no physical harm on him whatsoever, so he crucifies his truck, causing God knows how much money in damages. But at least he didn't...save...anybody?"

"So, seeing how we're watching Clark go on this long journey, are we finally gonna get some idea of what his personality's like-yeah, you know the answer to this. Hello, other characters and subplots, one of them being Lois Lane, played by Amy Adams, doing a report on some sort of disturbance-", Ruby synopsizes.

The taupe-haired girl nicely said, "I think you shouldn't badmouth Lois Lane, Ruby. She's a stronger character, a more confident one. She's a risk taker. She doesn't have time for the military's pissing contest! She actually does something in this film, and she's not always screaming for someone to save her."

"Yeah, that is until she's hit by the Nolan Ray.", agreed the short-haired tomboyish RWBY leader.

Maka confuses, "The what?"

"Oh, the Nolan Ray is just a term. You see, I have no doubt that Zack Snyder started off having Lois as an interesting, funny, opinionated character because at first, she does seem that way. Imagine when she's zapped by this Nolan Ray, suddenly every line of dialogue is emphasizing the weight of how important the movie you're watching is. Remember when his father was balling him out like a real father? Zap! Remember how Lois Lane was feisty and took no nonsense from anybody? Zap again! Even Perry White, played by Laurence Fishburne. He starts off in-your-face screaming about stories and deadlines...way too interesting. A little bit of the Nolan Ray would fix that, and zap!"

The meister makes her point, "Ruby, Yang, you do know that sometimes life is like that. Life can be tough, life can be cruel, and life can sometimes throw obscure things such as lobster costumes and nipple tasers into your reality. The less you know about that last part, the better."

"...We're not even gonna ask.", awkwardly responds Yang to the last part Maka said about how life goes, before going on; "So Lois follows a certain laser eyeing someone into the ice where she discovers a spaceship. A spaceship that apparently saw her performance in Julie & Julia. But Clark is there to take down the machine, heal her wounds, and...apparently leave her for dead. When she observes that Clark has taken the spaceship away, she tries to write a report on it, only to find her boss won't run it. So she lets it leak to the internet.", as the three of the girls giving their commentary watching over the part where Woodburn presumes to Lois that she once described his site as a creeping cancer of falsehoods.

Maka notices, "Hey, that's TMZ right there."

"That was a good one," chuckled Ruby and Yang.

The taupe-haired warrior rests her arms and chuckled as well, "They're the scum of the earth."

"So Clark loads the Exposition Program and, through some pretty awesome effects, a computer with what's left of Jor-El explains Krypton's history.", abstracts the leader of team RWBY as they saw Jor-El talk to his son Kal-El (Clark) who begins to tell what happened when he was launched from the planet and sent to Earth, "Jor-El could also say, 'We sent thousands of scout ships, yet our back-up plan in case the world blows up was a little baby sized pod. You can see why we didn't last very long.'", continuing afterwards in the same scene, "So it's explained that Clark is Krypton's first natural birth in centuries. Not exactly sure how they control that, whether everyone just kept to the honor system or they genetically altered babies to be born with chastity belts, but regardless, Clark has apparently broken the chain, and he now knows it's his job to do what he can for all mankind."

Ruby's elder sister says as she, her younger sister and Maka see Clark, now having the Superman outfit and alias, flying and making high jumps, "So he practices flying around the mountainside while the cameraman practices keeping his finger off the goddamn zoom , you may notice very quickly there's a lot of this in this movie. For no reason at all, whenever there's fast-paced motion, the camera has to zoom in on it like a monkey with a fucking camcorder. How do you think the cinematographer Amir Mokri came upon that ingenious move?"

"I could say the cinematographer had an awesome ride doing it.", The chain scythe meister supposed.

The blonde huntress states, "So Lois goes searching for her rescuer/leaver of people to die in the snow, and through asking questions and listening to hearsay, she locates exactly where he is. Of course, this calls for celebrating with another flashback.", before they saw another flashback with Clark and his father Jonathan, "But wait a minute, Papa Kent, didn't you just in a few flashbacks say that he was destined to change the world when people discovered him? And now you're saying you never want him to be discovered and you just want him to be a farmer? I'm starting to think Clark has three fathers: Jor-El, John, and John's other freaking personality like Tyler Durden from Fight Club! But get ready for a big shock here. Something big and terrible tries to kill them. And thus, they all try to seek shelter."

"And even though there's a million other ways this problem could've been solved, John Kent sacrifices himself because he stands by how Clark should change the world by never doing a goddamn thing.", Ruby explains her point as the part where John sacrificed himself and was sucked into the tornado much to Clark's agony was shown.

Maka opinions, "He's just doing what he thinks is right."

"But it's not right!"

"But he thinks it's right."

"Does that make it right?"

"Does that make it not right?"

"Not right?"

"Right!"

"Right?"

"Right!"

"Right?", Ruby asked before realizing, "What the hell did we just agree on?!"

Maka smugged, "You see, this movie's deeper than you think! It's raising questions!"

"A complete mystery...", Ruby groaned.

Yang told, "While we're at it, why does everyone in this movie take death like a light breeze? All of the people who die in this film never flinch, move, or even make a noise. And these deaths have ranged from stabbing, explosion and tornado. I think somebody in that line-up would at least go 'Ow!'. Well, the movie's tired of waiting for Clark to actually do anything, so General Zod appears on the Monarch ship to threaten the world to hand him over.", as a following scene had someone surveillancing the ship as an arrow was seen that showed Zod's ship, "Thanks for the arrow, by the way, we never would've known what we're supposed to look at.", just as the next snippet shows Zod making a message feed with his face blurred and footage static-y.

"So it looks like their ability to take over all of Earth's video footage understandably gives a barely visible picture. But for some reason, that sound sure seems crystal clear.", the red-black-haired girl responds when Zod tells the people they must surrender within 24 hours, "And tell Nash thanks for the microphone. It works great.", summarizing, "So Clark tries to figure out what to do and seeks the advice of both his mother and possibly a higher source.", before they cut and watch the scene with Superman handcuffed and being escorted by soldiers, "Clark reveals himself and surrenders to the military, who have also brought in Lois, seeing how she's the only one who knew anything about his existence.", as they see the part where Superman says to Lois that the S stands for hope, "He convinces humanity that he's not a threat, and that he's going to hand himself over to Zod. Humanity goes 'okay', and lets him turn himself in to Zod's second in-command, Faora. But she also seems to want Lois to go with, too."

The blonde continues the story, "So they go aboard Zod's ship where Clark has a hard time adapting to their atmosphere.", as the film had Superman dropping to the floor and suddenly waking up seemingly back in Kansas, yet Zod was present; "Zod's like, 'Welcome to my weird mental thingie.'", explaining, "So Zod explains how they were freed once Krypton was destroyed, and how they got the ship working to travel to Earth to find him. And yeah, we remember how loud and clear he said that line earlier. He explains that the Codex for all living things on Krypton is in his possession, and so he has the power to make Krypton live again.", before questioning as Superman and Zod communicate in a post-apocalyptic wasteland simulation, "You know, is it really wise to tell your only hope for the future of your race that you're going to destroy his place that he calls home? Wouldn't that kind of make him resistant and thus make things go a little slower? Maybe this wasn't what he was supposed to see. Maybe they accidentally put in the wrong program to show him. This kinda makes the dream sequence from Terminator 2 look real!", before the next scene with Lois is shown being thrown in a cell by one of Zod's soldiers named Car-Vex.

"Lois gets thrown into a cell, and this gives her a chance to use Jor-El-in-a-box as they plan, what I have to admit, is a pretty awesome escape.", said the leader of team RWBY as they see Lois meet Jor-El (who was been installed into the ship's mainframe), helping her escape as he tells her where to shoot incoming enemies; Ruby excited, "Oh, my God! I want this guy as an AI on my next first-person shooter game, maybe Halo, Doom, Call of Duty, Far Cry, who knows!"

Maka remarks, "Oh, yeah. Those games are definitely good. It's as good as the time I and Tsubaki helped deal with the Enchanted Sword and my girlfriend made it out okay."

"Was she hurt?", worried Ruby.

The meister confirms, "She was alright. I was there for her at the time, and I have to be honest, her culture kinda gave me an influence."

"Whatever you say.", smiled the tomboyish dark-haired girl, as the three see Jor-El lead Lois to an escape pod going back to Earth as she escapes Zod's ship; "This also allows Clark to escape as he's set to go down to Earth and stop them from harming anybody.", seeing with her friends of the part when Jor-El communicates to his son from the ship's mainframe like with Lois earlier, "I bet Superman should add something like 'But my father said never to be noticed or help people.', and Jor-El would say, 'Your father's a twat who directed The Postman. Now go.', as Superman would sound disgusted at the thought of the film!", giggling with Yang to her joke, just as the three see Superman escape and zoom back to Earth as well.

Yang reacts to this scene, "Whoa. Epic."

"A little savior symbolism here or there?", presumed Maka as she smirked.

Yang and Ruby ask, "Here or there?"

"Yeah, I mean...what's someone who's half-immortal and half-human be like? Would he be more human or would he be more godlike? Yes, I believe they're just trying to have him move graceful in space, okay? They're not literally saying he's Jesus or anything...and the church scene supports that he's humble. He's more human than we know; he needs the advice of others to help him make the right decisions, and this is when he truly comes over to our side. He becomes one of us."

"Well...we suppose you are right about that."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I'll claim it's like Citizen Kane so long as while we watch more of this cinematic dark unpleasantness. Hopefully it'll please half the angry fanboys, too."

"Score one for me, then. Just saying."

"The review isn't done yet, but we're still gonna watch it all the way through.", Ruby and Yang say this to Maka, before hesitating after and saying, "Before we have our short break...can't we just take a moment for all of us to hate Superman IV?"

Maka insists politely, "Sure.", before the three of them took a short break before they would continue the story soon after.

To be continued...
