Inconveniences

"Hey Discordia!" Shouted a blur. This was Mercury. A rather famous god if you believe everything he says. And he says a lot. Even says he convinced some mortals he was Odin. Oh boy was that a story.

But that's besides the point. He was zooming around the estate looking for said goddess. He had just returned from exploring the new parts of the island because he wasn't made aware of the changes Nova made. Heh, island. It's a damned continent now. But that's besides the point. Discordia asked Mercury for a favor if anything new happened with the mortals in regards to how long it will take for them to get to Marius's new home. And seeing how many times she'd saved his bacon he owed her plenty…. Mmmmm bacon.

And then he heard the screaming. He came to a screeching halt before a rather well off door in this now decayed estate. Apparently from the changes Nova made, time was one of them. And quite frankly, He didn't like it. Even the remnants didn't look this aged. Hell! The Colosseum looked better off than the kitchen. Oops side tracked again. What was with the screaming? Eh, he shrugged, who's gonna find out other than him.

And then he was in an abyss. Just floating there. What? Who? Ooooh. Magic. Keep forgetting about magic. And there was Damocles. Uh…. Wreathed in black fire. He may be a god but even he knows that isn't right. Where was Discordia? She said she'd be here with Damocles. He'd already checked the bed chamber and she wasn't there, or the training yard, or the bath house, or the teleporting stones she said to meet at. And yes he checked in that order.

Where the heck is she? If Damocles was in trouble then she would be near to watch. And Damocles screaming his head off would be a good reason for her to be nearby. So where was-

*Bonk*

"He-!" and now there's a hand on his mouth. Oooh... she was behind him. And all he could do was feel himself be pulled away from the screaming form of Damocles as he suddenly went tumbling across the floor just outside the door to the… whatever that room was.

"Okay. What was that?" Mercury asked to no one in particular as he was still laying on the floor. For a solid three seconds he laid there waiting for some response before he was up in the blink of an eye. And that was a mistake. Because right in front of him was a frothing Discordia.

"That was something you shouldn't have seen." She said with what was obviously barely contained rage. He hadn't seen her this mad since he gave Aeneas some help getting through the underworld. Sure she told him specifically not to but what was he supposed to do. Let the guy get swarmed by the angered souls seeing a living man walking freely?

"And you will tell NO ONE about this, is that clear?" She demanded.

"Discordia. Who do you think you're talking to?" He asked, taking a step back while raising his hands in front of him as slowly as possible. Sure he can run circles around Nova's surface in seconds but even he can't escape Discordia's magic when she was really angry. "How many secrets have we kept for each other huh? How many times did I take your letters with no questions asked? And I know you haven't told anyone about where exactly you got that apple from yeah?" he said again. Each question slowly diffused her growing rage until she finally slumped.

"I'm sorry Merc. It's just I wasn't expecting anyone here for another year at least. Nova said she'd stall the humans a little with bad weather and Everyone else was off doing their things." she said rubbing her temples and leaning against the door to what he could only assume was Damocles's training room. 'I mean come on. You can't destroy the world with stray magic if there is no world now can you?' he thought before cutting himself off. He came here for a reason. And he has other things to do than to question Discordia.

"Well you have less time." he said walking up to Discordia and putting a hand on her shoulder. Discordia went pale at that remark. Not because of the words but because of how he said it. There were few times she had heard any sense of seriousness in his voice. And even less when he actually meant it. His only tell was when he got physical. I.E. hand on shoulder right now.

"What do you mean?" she asked. What had happened? So many possibilities were flying through her head. Had the Fates decreed something, did Apollo and Luna do another eclipse, did the would-be gods finally arrive. So many what if's were flying through her head she couldn't even register what he said next until he slapped her.

"I said the mortals will be here in a month. If not less." he said again. He was positive she was lost in her thoughts again. She always was when something she didn't think of came up. And what with her being in that room of hers for who knows how long, she probably got nothing from her "clone". 'Pfft. Clones. Who needs some stupid copy. There's only one of you. Who needs to see everything. What fun is there knowing everything.' he thought for a second before coming back to see Discordia staring at him.

"That's it?" She asked incredulously. "Well. Yes." he said, stepping just out of her range in case she decided to throw a punch like she usually did after he hit her. Sure she looked thin-ish but she was still a god and even then she had a hell of a right hook. Magic or no. "How?" she asked doing a complete 180 and walking down the hall in the direction of Damocles's study if he recalled correctly.

"They learned how to fly," he said, following after her. All he got was a quizzical look from her and a gesture to go on. "one of the largest vessels has taken to the sky on wings of sail and magic. Westerners from the make of the sails." he explained. The only response was more silence as they kept marching down the halls. It was silent until they reached the study room. And man did Nova hit the clock or what? The entire place looked aged by a good century or five. The maps even looked like they'd crumple to ash in a slight breeze.

"I thought the Westerners were the farthest from reaching us?" she asked while inspecting the map. She didn't need to of course. Every god on Nova knew the land like the back of their hand. They didn't really know why or how but they could pick a single spot and know everything about it. What grew there, what animals lived nearby, was it dead or alive. Such and such. Where was he going with this? Oh right.

"They were but something changed." he said walking around the room standing perpendicular to Discordia looking her right in the eye. "You happened."

There was a look of complete befuddlement on her face. "What do yo…" and there it is, the flash of realization. Her clone's memories must finally be coming in. Another reason why he doesn't like clones. If one dies you get all that trauma to deal with.

SLAP

And then the sound of hand meeting face brought him out of his thoughts again. "Ooooh I'm such an idiot." And it wasn't him being hit this time, Woo. He looked back over to see Discordia's hand falling from her face to rest on the table in the center of the room.

"Well. Not all the time." He tried to reassure. When one is the god; or goddess in this case, of discord and strife even you can't really know what you're gonna do. And besides chaos is fun. Most of the time. Where was he going with this. Ahh doesn't matter. Discordia has her thinking cap on.

No. Literally. She has a wide brimmed hat that looks like a cheesy witch hat with orange highlights and everything and she calls it her 'thinking cap'. It's not. She wears it every Halloween with the whole costume but hey who's he to judge. He's been going as a Bruce Lee impersonation for the last few decades.

"You said and I quote 'It's more fun this way' when it came to magic. And honestly, I agree with it." he shrugged. "If they can do that with magic what can we do?" he said, turning around to start walking away. He came, he delivered his message. Now onto the next.

"THAT'S IT!" was a roar from behind him before he was suddenly tackled to the air. "Merc you beautiful man." was all he heard from the bone crushing hug he was now getting. "God" was the only thing he could breathe out before he was released to flop to the ground.

"They can fly. But I know someone who can swim." he heard Discordia say before a flash of gold happened behind him. When he got up he saw… nothing. She was still there but now her back was to him and she was zipping around the table on wings of dust again. All with a gold light emitting from the center of the table. Okay now he was curious.

"Dissy? What cha doin'?" He asked in a slightly trembling voice. He'd only ever seen her like this when she was making the greatest pranks he'd seen. It was a beautiful sight don't get him wrong. But when a city is sunk to the bottom of the ocean because of it? Not so cool.

"I'm asking a friend for the return of a favor. Plus a few souls." she said, twirling her hair as the spell kept going. And then the light turned blue. "Yes! Okay, what do you want in return?" she muttered looking at the spell. The color turned green. "Pffft. Really?" she all but laughed. The green intensified. "Okay, Okay. I was gonna ask you anyway. We don't have an approved goddess of the seas yet. I'll put in a good word for ya." and the color changed to black.

"What just happ-" he was going to ask until Discordia put a finger to his lips with a shushing noise. "Watch." she all but giddily replied. And so he did. Nothing was happening. The light stayed black. The table that held all the maps and charts was now just a void of black.

For a solid five seconds they sat there. Watching. Watching nothing, nothing happening, at all. He was going to go insane.

And then the void started smoking. The table, no, The room started shaking. And out the window the sky suddenly turned black from the growing clouds. The void started sinking into the table but it was leaving things behind. Like chess pieces made of bronze. The entire fleets making their way here were on the maps now. But, now there were things in the way. Even the reef around the island had a board piece now. Little pieces littered the maps and charts. What looked like monsters from massive sharks and whales all the way to Mermaids. But that wasn't really new. There were tribes all over the oceans. He's even talked to a few. They don't talk, but he did.

But those seemed to display what was already there. Because there were two new massive pieces. These were made of obsidian with an insane detail. One was a woman with a fairly decent appearance to a pirate from the 18th century of Terra. But the other. Yeah.

"Is that…" he leaned over to get a better look at the figure.

The first thing he took in was the tricorn on his head. He was large if what the little piece could tell him. He also had a peg leg too. So bonus points in his book. But those weren't what drew his eyes. The crab claw for an arm, the beard of octopus tentacles, the literal barnacles growing on him.

"Yep. I got the Queen of the Pirates."

"What? No."

A.N.: Okay. I wanted this chapter out way earlier and again had a huge hit of writers block with the main focus of this one. But I got some crazy things happening on my plate. I was in 'School' for the last 3 Months and now I'm in training for another 1 before I've got a 3 weeks to sign shit, say good bye, and go to the other side of the world. My "Job" is fucking wild my guys.

I'm gonna keep working on this story. I'm not certain when the next update will be but if it's been over a year since This story's been updated assume I'm dead.
