PART V

The Black Cocoon

Team RWBY's Commentary of Avengers: Endgame (Part 2)

OUTSIDE THE BLACK COCOON
10:30 AM

More than an hour after leaving the Pirate Coastline on board the steam-powered ship, team RWBY and the others have finally approached their destination.

The Black Cocoon.

While there was a beach around the island, there was a dark black inactive mountain that was almost nearly as tall as the tree back on Edo Island.

Ruby said, "We made it.", with her and the others observing the island.

"This is it.", Jack-O' told everyone, "This is the place where Justice is...and where your friends may be taken. There's a cave over there, so I can help lead you guys to the gateway, but we all must stay close. Dangerous monsters lurk within the underground darkness..."

Yang said, "Tell us the directions where to go when we get inside, Jack-O'. Remember your promise."

"But first, let's get off this ship and prepare ourselves to enter the unknown...and also review the rest of Endgame along the way there.", Blake and Weiss planned and hesitated mid-sentence.

They soon settled the ship onto the seashore before she, Yang, Blake, Weiss, Athena, Cameron, Yume and Baiken get off first before the others, with Alice and Saika escorting Jack-O' off the vessel to join the rest.

Standing altogether on the beach, the eight girls with their sets of samurai armor (along with samurai kabuto helmets and menpo masks) stepped forward as they look on to the cave ahead of them. They proceed to bow their head and upper torso down as a Japanese bowing (ojigi) salute.

Taking a deep breath, Ruby spoke, "Alright, everybody. This is the moment we've been waiting for. Bravery will be rewarded. Destinies will be fulfilled. And the honor of a new future will be born! A future that will be critical...and glorious!", as they all cheered.

Tsubaki Nakatsukasa even transformed into Maka's chain scythe death weapon that she uses (which this transformation also shocked some of the others since they didn't witness Tsubaki's ability).

"Be strong, my love.", told Maka.

Tsubaki said with her reflection seen on the chain scythe's blade, "You too, Maka. No way we aren't dying."

"Cammie, would you do the honor in sounding the advance?", Yang requested.

Cameron answered, "I'd like to, but I think...maybe you should do it?"

"I'll do it.", Baiken told, "I am the leader of my people, so I shall do the honor.", pulling out a whistle and blowing it, sounding the advance.

Ruby readied, "And now, let's advance.", as the group went inside the cavern.

Within, the girls all carefully walk deeper into the blackness of the chambers and away from the brightness of day. Soon enough in a matter of a few minutes, they were entering almost complete darkness.

"It's too dark in here...", Blake said.

Weiss asked, "Does somebody have a stick we can use?"

"Brought one just in case before we even got in the cave.", Natsume said while they're in pitch black darkness.

Bump!

"Ow!", the Schnee heiress groaned.

Natsume apologized, "Sorry. Can't see anything because it's so dark."

"Maki?", requested Ruby.

Maki's voice was heard, "On it."

Using her pyrokinetic powers, Maki summons some flames as the fire was the only source of light that fortunately allowed the girls to see, placing the hot oxidation on the stick Natsume found just earlier.

With Ann Takamaki carrying it, the phantom thief girl said, "I wonder if it's still possible to see in the dark... We can't...", sighing saddenly, "Happy birthday to me..."

"Didn't say your birthday was earlier this month?", noticed Rachel and Anri Sonohara.

Ann nods, "Yes, I'm a year older as well. What I said just now was a figure of speech."

Ruby then realized something.

"We should've used the Fire Dust, we have some on us, but I figure we put it to good use for later on.", said the leader of team RWBY.

Yang replied, "Yeah, we should use it when we battle Justice. Remember, our Semblances don't work on Earth since it only works back home."

"And why is it so dark in here though? Shouldn't we have brought a lighter, or is there any source of light in here that can help us guide further to our destination, Jack-O'?", Athena criticized.

Jack-O' answered, "There is.", pointing to the rock cavern walls for everyone to look.

The walls started to glow a bit brighter with a crystalline dark magma-like surface, allowing the group to see the path better in the cavern chambers.

"Ooh...", awed Natsume, "It looks strange."

Maki Oze looked around, "I don't think it was necessarily convenient, but...what a sight."

"How do you know about this?", Maka Albarn suspiciously asked.

Jack-O' tapped her cheek cutely, "I know every inch of the path from the entrance to the gateway. Now if we'll lead the way..."

"We're obliged.", Ruby and Yang said in unison, rolling their eyes as the group continued through the brightened chambers within The Black Cocoon.

During this, Alice has another conversation with Saika, the female integrity knight saying, "You know, Justice may be pure evil, but can she be surely redeemed after what she did and her attempts of genocide?"

"You look me in the eye and tell me she's not insane enough to do something that crazy.", the female blonde gunslinger challenged her friend.

An intense moment between Alice and Saika happens as the two looked each other in the eye without blinking while they were walking with the others. Before Alice could say something, she then responded, "Okay, you may have a point."

"I thought so.", Saika answered.

In the meantime, team RWBY resumes the Endgame review.

"Stark, Rogers, Lang and Banner go back in time to 2012 where the Battle of New York, which is the events of the first Avengers movie, takes place.", Ruby summarized as she and her three teammates watch Hulk Banner pretend he's the Hulk in the past as he smashes things around reluctantly, "I like how this Hulk has a Shrek feel to it.", saying, "While Hulk Banner meets the Ancient One in order to retrieve the Time Stone, Thor and Rocket go back to 2013 in Asgard where the events of Thor: The Dark World happened.", reacting to when Rocket gives Thor a confiding speech and asks him to get the Infinity Stone and bring the Guardians back (in which he refers to as his family), imitating in this scene, "I still need to stick around with them for a while! We still haven't done Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 since James Gunn is working on the new Suicide Squad movie for 2021.", describing, "Speaking of which, Rhodes, Nebula, Natasha and Clint all go back to 2014 in Morag where the events of the first Guardians of the Galaxy film took place, as the latter two head off to Vormir to get the Soul Stone."

Yang then said as they saw a scene with the 2014 variant of Nebula being saved by Gamora during a battle, "Hey, Gamora's not dead! Sort of. More like an alternate variant of Gamora, yet at least the character is still alive and well after Infinity War...", the elder sister of Ruby laughing nervously, "But hey, we also see Thanos again, a-ok! Only this time he's a 2014 variant of Thanos, though his appearance in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie weren't exactly accurate as it was before...and he also has a double-edged blade with him this time! That's so different we can almost tell the difference!", synopsizing, "He then discovers entangled recordings of the time heist plan from 2014 Nebula's memories, thus interesting him into finding out the Avengers' plan. Back in 2012 New York, Stark and Ant-Man try to get the Space Stone from the Avengers while Rogers tries to retrieve the Mind Stone from HYDRA operatives.", mimicking 2012 Hulk as he was forced to take the stairs instead of the elevator as he grunted "Take the stairs. Hate the stairs..." angrily, "I hate cardio..."

"There's also this scene that recalls the elevator fight from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but in this instance, there's no fighting but there's a catch.", Blake proved as said part showed Rogers beckoning to Jasper Sitwell (played by Maximiliano Fernandez) and whispering the surprising two words "Hail Hydra.", making the STRIKE/HYDRA operatives surprised by his feigned affiliation, "Yes, you were expecting that. A quote from the comics of Captain America saying 'Hail Hydra' was finally put on the big screen. Now, I know he's pretending to be allegiant to HYDRA in order to get the Mind Stone, but it somehow felt pretty dark like the comics, don't you think?", while another excerpt has 2012 Hulk was walking down the stairs and looking down at the many flights before yelling angrily again "SO MANY STAIRS!", as the Faunus understood, "Trust us, we know the struggle. Cardio is very healthy, but right now- Right now, this is a maze we're going through, people! Hell, we will unlikely even go around in circles trying just to find this gateway!"

Weiss abstracted, "Tony and Ant-Man almost successfully get the Space Stone, but 2012 Hulk ruins the moment...", with said character in the film shouting "NO...STAIRS!", causing the heiress to acknowledge, "We know, Hulk, we know.", finishing her sentence, "...and Loki steals the Infinity Stone, triggering the events of the Disney+ Loki series.", commenting as Ant-Man and Stark talk and notice they blew their chance on getting the Space Stone, "Yeah, and you might've caused a Disney+ series treatment for Loki, that's for sure.", then saying, "Rogers comes face-to-face with his 2012 self, and the two Captain Americas fight each other.", as the following said scene had 2012 Rogers try choking the other Rogers before the latter mentions that Bucky was alive, stopping the former's chokehold, the Schnee girl observing this and making a BvS reference, "Save...Bucky!", resuming the story, "Rogers knocks his 2012 self out and gets the Mind Stone, while Banner tries to persuade the Ancient One into giving him the Time Stone."

The next couple scenes has Banner telling the Ancient One that they would return each Infinity Stone the moment it was taken after they would use it and that the branched timelines mentioned by the latter would be prevented; the other has the Ancient One refusing to give him the Time Stone before Banner brings up the news about Strange's willing sacrifice of giving the Time Stone to Thanos, with Banner thinking he must have made a mistake.

"Stark survived because of him, I think it's plausible whether he made a mistake or not...", the red-black-haired huntress responded, "Hulk Banner is given the Time Stone, while back in 2013, Thor just happens to meet his mother Frigga, who later on died in the events of Thor: The Dark World. And honestly, it's a touching moment seeing him and his mother interact once more. Given how sad her death was in the second Thor movie.", another snippet showing Frigga talking to Thor and saying he isn't an idiot but a failure like everyone else and that the measure of a person or a hero is what they succeed, "Yeah, the Rotten Tomatoes score for Thor: The Dark World was almost under the 60% range. Thankfully, Thor: Ragnarok made up for it.", outlining, "Rocket extracts the Aether from Jane Foster- Yeah, she's coming back in Thor: Love and Thunder. While Thor says goodbye to his mother and brings his old hammer Mjolnir, which was destroyed in Ragnarok, along with him.", saying as the group approach a big chamber, "How much longer till we get there?"

Jack-O' answered, "Shouldn't be too far. We must be halfway there, 57% by estimation."

"Sweet. Haven't seen any of those monsters you claimed were here. This is gonna be easy!", Athena gladdened.

But all of a sudden, something dripped on top of Athena's orange samurai helmet.

The female attorney exclaimed quietly, "What the...?", creeping a hand to her helmet and touching samples of the liquid that fell on her.

It looked purplish-black and its texture was between thick and thin. She moved her fingers to test its stickiness, but she, as well as Ann, Natsume, Maka, Maki and a few others, felt more liquid drip on their head from above them.

"What is this?", Ann asked.

Team RWBY, Athena, Cameron, Yume, Baiken and the others turn around to see this, before they all slowly look up...

...and from the ceiling of the chamber, a giant spider came into view.

The heroes gasped.

Ibuki asked, "Is that...a-a-a spider?!"

"It's giant!", Baiken said fearlessly.

Ruby said, "The eight of us will handle this! Go!", as everyone else but her, Yang, Blake, Weiss, Athena, Cameron, Yume and Baiken stay behind for the moment to take care of the giant spider, which lands on the ground and was preparing to attack. The spider wasn't furry but had a dark black color while looking venomous and scary with its eight beady eyes, "Our semblances won't work here on Earth, so we have to survive this."

The eight pull out their weapons whilst wearing their sets of samurai armor, with Ruby wielding her huntress weapon Crescent Rose, Yang wielding Ember Cecilia, Blake wielding Gambol Shroud, Weiss wielding Myrtenaster, Athena, Cameron and Baiken wielding samurai swords, and Yume wielding her bow and arrows.

"Oh, that's what we're talking about.", enjoyed Athena.

The fight began with Crescent Rose advancing and using her scythe huntress weapon to cut one of the giant spider's legs off. The giant spider then charged forward as Ruby and the others dodged the attack, scattering the eight to vantage points around the chamber in order to make their next attack.

Yang then uses her Ember Cecilia to propel herself at a fast speed, using one of her fists to knock another one of its legs down while Athena tries to attack from behind, but a web shoots out from the spider as they dodge it. While Ruby battles the creature, the spider tries to bite her but she swiftly dodges the offense while she slashes off another one of its legs, with only six spider legs remaining. With Blake and Weiss working together to slice off a few more of the giant spider's legs with their respective weapons Gambol Shroud and Myrtenaster, the monstrous insect then tries to get them by moving closer towards the two, but a few arrow shots distracted it, revealing Yume aiming her bow and making more shots at the spider.

The huge spider then climbed up the wall and reaches the ceiling, attempting to spit poisonous venom towards Yume which caused her to dodge and jump to another spot, shooting another swift arrow again and causing the giant insect to fall back to the ground on its back. It tries to get back right-side-up, but due to the weight and the small number of spider legs remaining, it was struggling while doing so.

As Athena, Cameron and Baiken look at one another and nod as this was their chance to finish it off, the three girls then charged at the fallen giant spider trying to get up with only four of its legs remaining, and leaped while making epic battle cries.

SLASH!

The three of them stabbed their samurai swords into the giant spider's underbelly, ending its life and splattering blue blood

The girls panted in relief, catching their breath after the battle.

"Where did this come from?", shuddered Yang.

Cameron told, "You weren't kidding when you said this place had beasts, Baiken... Is there any way we can destroy it or something?"

"There should be. But we have to get to the gateway fast.", Baiken planned.

Ibuki said, "GUYS!", signalling, "We have to go now!"

"Okay! We'll catch up!", Ruby said as she, Yang, Blake, Weiss, Athena, Cameron, Yume and Baiken all ran with their weapons with their armor not damaged.

Once the eight of them caught up, the group took a few moments to catch their breath.

Natsume nervously stated, "Giant spiders?! What kind of place is this?"

"Whatever they are, there's strange beasts within this place. We gotta destroy this place and get to that gateway.", thought Blake and Weiss.

Rachel and Anri Sonohara both suggest in unison, "We should pick up the speed! We gotta go!"

"No time to rest, let's go!", Ruby confided everyone else.

Jack-O' assisted, "I know the way!"

The group then began to hurry through the deeper chambers of The Black Cocoon, but Ruby halts herself and her friends as they came across a strange obstacle.

The leader of team RWBY yelled, "WEB!"

Seeing a thick giant spider web ahead of them, presumably by the same spider from earlier, the heroes try to get through.

However, they were having trouble as the web felt sticky and hard to get through, with a few trying to get through the sticky web while others (including team RWBY) try to destroy it.

Maka Albarn at one point uses her chain scythe death weapon (which had Tsubaki) to try destroying the web, but it was proven too sticky or too elastic to be damaged.

"IT'S NO USE! IT'S NOT CAUSING DAMAGE! MY WEAPON IS JUST STICKING TO THE WEB!", shouted Maka.

The group continue trying to get through the web as drastic measures soon came to be.

Ruby called out, "WATER!"

In a rush, Cameron then grabs Baiken's jug of sake.

"Cammie, what are you-", Baiken exclaims.

Cameron apologized, "I'm sorry!", as she tossed the sake out from the jug, "Take this!", hitting the web...

But the liquid showed no effect on the web, only for the water to stick onto the web as well.

"Huh.", team RWBY confused, before Ruby then called out again, "FIRE!"

Maki nods, before she uses her pyrokinetic powers to use the flames from the torch they used since earlier, putting the fire on the web.

Fortunately enough, the web finally burned down due to the heat melting it to a pulp.

"Thanks!", everyone but Maki and Jack-O' said.

Maki replied, "Don't mention it!"

"Faster!", team RWBY shouted to their friends as they continue on their way, running past many big dark holes.

However, Ibuki trips on a rock, causing her to fall to the ground.

Groaning, the ninja girl gets up and she finds one of her bare feet stuck between a few rocks.

"Come on...", alerted Ibuki, trying to break her foot free from the rocks.

Chitter.

The sudden sound from one the hole to her left was heard from Ibuki, looking to her left in startlement.

Far deep into the hole, Ibuki was frightened to see the head of a giant centipede as it heads towards her, while the kunoichi screams in terror.

"AAAAHHH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!", shrieked Ibuki as the centipede sped closer and closer out of the hole...

SLASH!

...until Cameron MacCloud used her samurai sword to decapitate the giant centipede a second before it could strike the female ninja, killing it.

"You okay?", the gen:LOCK recruit asked, breaking the rocks trapping Ibuki's bare foot.

The black-haired kunoichi looked at her in shock as she nodded.

Cammie excused, "It's just a giant centipede. Honestly, I'm as shocked as you are.", before she and Ibuki then catched up with the others.

Eventually they stopped for a bit, catching their breath.

"Ibuki, what happened?", Miria asked.

The black-haired kunoichi shellshocked, "I got my foot stuck and a giant centipede almost caught up to me, but thankfully our friend Cameron killed it."

"Why couldn't it be me...?", cutely pouted Yume, thinking about her love for Cameron.

Baiken told, "We should be safe for now. We should continue looking for the gateway as soon as possible."

"Sounds great. We're gonna continue on with Endgame along the way again. But man, that was exhilarating...", commented Ruby.

The blonde huntress resumes the story, "Rhodes and Nebula interrupt Quill's Come and Get Your Love moment and they steal the Power Stone but Nebula's memories are entangled with her past self before she could return. I feel like she should've just left with Rhodes sooner... But the heck with it, since we see 2014 Thanos finding out about his future.", seeing the scene with Ebony Maw (from the previous film) telling Thanos it was his future yet the latter claims it was his destiny moments before seeing his demise by Thor and causes the Mad Titan to say his destiny was fulfilled, "There we go, another meme for the collection. Still, it's a great line.", responding to when Maw wraps a chain around 2014 Nebula's neck with his powers but Thanos snaps the chain and held her face, "But to be fair, it looks a little weird for something like this. Doesn't change how impressive the effects are, to say the least.", also noting, "Nebula is captured by 2014 Thanos, while Stark, Lang and Rogers back in 2012 New York discuss their alternative plan to retrieve the Space Stone.", witnessing Stark say to Lang that he's repeating himself that coerces the latter to talk the same thing back.

"Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself?", added the black-haired huntress imitatingly, "Stark figures out the alternative location of the Space Stone and both he and Rogers travel back in time to 1970 at a New Jersey military base where the Space Stone and Pym Particles were present at the time. As we saw a loving moment between Tony and his father Howard after retrieving the Space Stone, along with a de-aged appearance by Hank Pym played by Michael Douglas before Rogers steals some Pym Particles, Steve goes into an office where he sees Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell.", seeing mentioned part where Steve looks through the blinds in the dark room to see Peggy as emotional music plays, "It's actually very emotional when me and Weiss say that not only Captain America is our favorite, but his characterization in the film is what touches our hearts. Like with Infinity War where Thanos has the most screentime, Captain America has the most screentime in Endgame, by a few minutes more than Stark's screentime than presumed."

The white-haired huntress supported the opinion, "You may also notice that since his trilogy finished and his story arc coming to a close in this movie, you can understand why Captain America is one of the most memorable yet heroic characters in MCU history. We'll get more to that, while we also see Stark bidding farewell to Howard.", also spectating this moment while trying to hold in tears to this part, "The same can go for Iron Man. You rock...", summarizing next, "Nebula is interrogated by her past self, as she takes her identity and gives Thanos the Pym Particles used for travelling back to the present. Meanwhile, Natasha and Clint finally arrive at Vormir where we actually see a repeat of them meeting Red Skull from the last movie and learning the impossible odds to obtain the Soul Stone. But only this time, it's Black Widow and Hawkeye instead of Gamora and Thanos. And not just that, but we have a fight scene between the two of them choosing whoever decides to sacrifice themself."

"And then, you can understand they're making the Black Widow movie.", says Ruby as the four teammates saw Black Widow and Hawkeye hanging on as the latter held the former's hand, although the former said to him that it was okay just seconds before she lets go and falls to her death, "Yep. Sadly and intentionally, they decided to kill off Black Widow, so that the movie takes place before Infinity War. I'm not saying it was a flaw or anything, but...you have to give this movie credit! It's actually even more emotional than Gamora's death in Infinity War, although they were still both beloved. It's sad to say that one of the best Avengers, one of the original six Avengers, had to go out with an emotional bang, and as the movie says, they would do whatever to takes to save the day once more.", viewing the part with Hawkeye finds himself in the water again and holding the Soul Stone, only this time feeling tearful for his friend's death; "And so with the Time Heist successful, they find out that Black Widow sacrificed herself before we see a wonderful moment with the other original five Avengers."

When Yang observed the next excerpt of Stark asking if Romanoff had a family and Rogers replying that they were her family, she smiled happily, "Ah, the wholesomeness. A family of six should never lose one another until the time comes. I mean, the four of us, Athena, Cameron, Yume and Baiken are starting to become a family of eight by our bond so far!", chroniclizing, "Needing to avenge Natasha's sacrifice, the Avengers construct a new Infinity Gauntlet with all six of the stones, as they try to figure out who should do the job of snapping half of the universe back to life.", the following part showing Thor insisting on doing it and asking Tony what is coursing through his veins in which Rhodes replies by thinking it's Cheese Whiz, "If they were to say it's pizza, Peter Parker fans would be satisfied.", then saying, "Hulk Banner does the honors of putting the new Infinity Gauntlet on and he is able to snap his fingers, finally bringing half of the universe back...only for Thanos' Sanctuary II ship to bomb the entire facility due to 2014 Nebula sending the ship to the present. Wow."

"But don't worry, the Avengers after that incident are all right. I mean, things couldn't get any worse, would it?", Ruby said as she, her teammates and the rest of the group felt a strong wind.

They turn as they saw a mysterious creature in the shadows as it exhaled fire from its nose.

Another wyvern.

"Oh no.", team RWBY said in unison.

Hurriedly, the group all ran as fast as they could with Jack-O' leading the way, "This way!", as they at some point finally stop to see something inevitable that the entire group witnesses.

Far from them was a bright white gateway where a malicious figure stood in front of it.

Justice.

"There she is!", pointed Athena, Miria and Celty, angrily.

Cameron and Baiken gritted, "She's the one behind all of this!"

"Our friends must be beyond that gate!", Yume and Eureka hoped.

Team RWBY said, "Won't be long now..."

Then the heroes saw the mysterious figure of Justice then turn around and walk towards the gateway, disappearing as she went through.

Puzzled at first, Ruby reminded everyone, "Follow her!", as they all make battle cries when all of them began running towards the gateway ahead.

With all of them running towards the gateway as well as the monstrous wyvern chasing after them, Maka trips, accidentally dropping the explosives.

"The explosives! Do we need time to set it up?!", Maka asked.

CRASH!

Rock and rubble blast from where the group started running, revealing the winged wyvern roaring and chasing after the heroes. Maka soon catches up with the others as fast as she could while she and the rest continued running.

Maki Oze grunted, "Fuck this...", as she used her pyrokinetic powers and summons a flaming sputter (a sentient fireball) and throwing it.

In slow-motion, Maki's sputter was flying, missing the wyvern and was about to make contact with the flammable and dangerous explosives!

"Maki, wait!", echoed Natsume and Ann.

The sputter then flew very close to the explosives...

BOOOOOM!

The resulting explosion from the many explosives not only critically blew the wyvern apart which kills it, but a chain of explosions happen as it causes cracks to happen from the far side of the giant chamber the heroes were all in.

"What's happening?!", exclaimed Anri Sonohara.

Rachel doubted, "This certainly does not look good!"

And that was when the The Black Cocoon started to collapse, with tons of rock and rubble falling down and giving in due to the explosive force.

"The whole place is collapsing! What shall we do?!", Eureka panicked.

Jack-O' said, "Keep running! The gateway is closing!", running while noticing the interdimensional gateway now gradually closing due to the collapsing chambers.

"We gotta hurry! No one's gonna be left behind!", Ruby told everyone, while everyone kept running and dodging falling rocks.

With the gateway shrinking almost midway by the time they got there, team RWBY helps the group hurry and go through the portal.

"Come on, come on, come on, come on! We don't have much time!", Yang rushed as one by one, more people hurried through the gateway.

Natsume's voice was heard calling out, "Ruby!"

The leader of team RWBY looks onward and looks shocked to see Natsume still running for dear life, having to catch her breath earlier; she then said to her teammates, "You guys go first!"

"What?!", Yang, Blake and Weiss said, "Ruby, no-"

Ruby shouted, "JUST GO! I'LL COME RIGHT AWAY!"

Worried for their team leader and longtime friend, the blonde, black and white-haired huntresses all had a few tears in their eyes before nodding bravely just as the three of them entered.

"Natsume, hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry!", intensified Ruby as Natsume ran as fast as she could, almost nearing the gateway...

Ruby goes almost inside the portal...

...Natsume makes it near the gateway...

...Ruby reaches out for her friend...

...Natsume leaps...

...both Ruby and Natsume are about to grab each other's hand...

...and in a flash, the gateway disappears.

No one was left behind.

All the while, the chamber collapsed fully as The Black Cocoon seemed to collapse in on itself due to the explosions.

However, team RWBY and the others managed to make it through.

But the question was...

Where did it take them?

To be concluded...

The final chapter of the Season 2 Finale arc.
The end of the second season.
