Wingshipping (Raphael x Guardian Eatos)

. . .

((This is one that I missed))

. . .

Cold night, he thought. He didn't mind, though. The coolness of the wind against his face reminded him that he was actually here in this moment, and it was reassuring.

Raphael tilted his head back to look at the stars above. They were hard to see; it was a cloudy night. The moon was visible, though, bright and full just above him. He passed under a street lamp and he felt momentarily blinded, but his sight came back easily enough.

Yes. It was a cold night, wasn't it...? A quiet one, too. He was the only one making his way down the sidewalk in the little neighborhood. Perhaps he should have taken a taxi back home. He probably looked intimidating to others, what with his large frame and long, dark coat. The last thing he wanted to do was to make anyone else uncomfortable.

But he passed no one, so there was no one to frighten. He was alone on the street.

Alone. As he so often was.

He let out a soft sigh, sending a breath of steam into the cold air.

And then a small warmth blossomed over his right breast. Curious, he glanced down – there it was, a small light pulsing from within his pocket. When he flipped the pocket open, however, the light and warmth vanished. He slid the cards free – they were worn and wrinkled and showed signs of water damage, so he handled them carefully.

Guardian Eatos sat on top.

He stared down at the card for a long, long moment. He stared at the woman, whose determined face was shown in profile, her bird's head headdress large and shining against her back, wings sparkling behind her, her dress clinging to her thin frame.

A breath of wind rushed past his ear and he thought for a moment that he could feel a hand on his cheek.

"You're never alone, Raph," he heard her whisper. "Didn't I promise you that?"

She stood before him then, her hand still on his cheek, her wings folded against her and the feathers of her headdress bobbing softly in the wind. Her golden eyes, soft with a smile as she looked into his.

And then she was gone, leaving only her warmth behind.

Raphael glanced down at his cards again. A wistful smile grew across his face.

"Right," he murmured. "How could I forget?"

He walked on.

A/N: sticking a new one in. I just realized recently though that fixing these holes means I'm accidentally ruining any links you might make from this series; like if you share chapter 5 you're actually going to be getting what was previously chapter 4 or whatever because I keep pushing everything down...I'm so sorry T-T Back to your regularly scheduled programming with Windshipping (Shizuka x Ryo x Yugi) next chapter.
