"She's magic, and can teleport," Santana muttered under her breath. "Plus, she's making actual money, why are we here, she can hire someone to put together her furniture," Santana made a face before yawning.

"You told her to save her money and that you'd help her?" Mike reminded her with an amused smile darting across his face. "Plus, she's been taking the trash out for you, she teleports to you nightly so she can take out your trash cause you hate doing it so much." Mike smiles when Santana shoots a dark glare at him.

Santana turned her attention back to Titan Headquarters and shook her head, she had never been a fan of gigantic corporations, but she'd sent most of the files to her mother, so she could make sure that Charlie was indeed being cared for, and so far, her mother had reported that Titan had been exceptionally generous with their terms. "Next time we tell Charlie that we'd meet her at her place."

"Titan is closer and you hate traffic—shutting up now," Mike said with a laugh, Santana had never been a day person, and it was clear that she needed some sleep. At least she'd taken the day off tonight, he'd managed to convince her of that. "Brittany will meet us there after work."

The fact that Titan was closer to Lost Saints didn't mean anything to her, the air around here was thick with magic, it was almost suffocating. "Keep your magic under wraps, they seem to like teleporters," she muttered to Mike as she opened the door for the two of them to walk in. The reception area was immaculate and open, with quite a bit of natural light entering through the massive glass windows, but she frowns when she spots the security gates and begins to walk towards them spotting the security guard at a desk nearby. "Hi, we're here to meet with Charlie," she explains quickly.

He narrows his eyes at her, but turns to his computer, "Name?"

Santana sighed and looked over at Mike, he was better at this than she was. "Santana Lopez, this is Mike. I'm not sure if we're on some sort of list—" She frowns when the man's eyes widen slightly when she drops her name.

"You're Santana?"

"Uh—"

"She is," Mike jumps in, "And I'm Mike." The man ignores him for a moment focusing on Santana.

"Charlie's mentioned you a few times, I almost thought you didn't exist," the man said with a laugh.

Santana blinked, feeling uneasy, she didn't know this man and he seemed to know her. "She's mentioned me?"

"A few times, she's always forgetting her key card and trying to sneak past me. It's almost a daily occurrence, we occasionally have lunch when she chooses to show up. But she smiles whenever she talks about you. I'll walk you to the reception, you're both going to need a guest pass. And since you're her friend, can you try and get her to stop losing her key cards?"

Santana glances over at Mike, he seemed nice enough, "I can try," she said with a shrug, deciding to follow him. "So, you know Charlie well?"

"Well even though it's been three years, she still doesn't quite understand key cards and security protocols, so we have many chats when she ends up trying to simply teleport past security. She's not really like the other magic-touched that Titan hired. Didn't know she was that special till that damn tsunami, we've got to be careful about who we let in, there are a lot of weirdos out there."

Mike nudged Santana, "See, told you she was thriving," he whispered to her.

Santana turned her head to give him a look, companies that acted like their employees were part of the family bothered her. It would be easy to take advantage of Charlie. Sure, Sebastian insisted that they were taking care of her, but Charlie was—well she was Charlie. She bites the inside of her lip as the security officer signs them in with the receptionist.

"These are your guest passes," the receptionist says as she puts two guest passes down on the counter for them and looks up at them. "I checked her schedule and she should be in her office, I'll have someone escort you up."

"Thanks," Mike said smoothly grabbing the passes and handing one over to Santana. His brow furrows slightly, Brittany was generally better at handling Santana than he was. But he gently nudges her again, "She has an office Santana. Is it a nice corner office? Or are we talking cubicle?"

"Well it's certainly not one of the executive offices, but it's a nice corner office, it's a decent sized office."

Mike smiled, "Hear that, she's got a nice corner office, she's going places Santana." Mike said as he turns to follow one of the receptionists that would guide them to Charlie's office. "She's making money, she's buying furniture—"

"I picked it out," Santana reminded him.

Mike sighed, he had been worried when he had found out who Charlie worked for. Sebastian rubbed him the wrong way, but from everything Charlie had mentioned to him and from everything he had seen Titan was treating Charlie well, and she seemed to be thriving. He sneaks a look over at Santana for a moment, wondering if she was envious of the fact that Charlie seemed to be progressing faster now that she was exposed to the world. Because from what he saw, Charlie wasn't just surviving she was thriving. "You know how I feel about Sebastian, but Charlie is fine, better than fine from the looks of it. She's got a corner office."

Santana rolled her eyes hard at this, a fancy corner office didn't mean shit, if Charlie died. Titan had no idea what Charlie was capable when it came to magic. She wasn't even sure if she knew what Charlie was capable of, but she did know what it cost. The damage that Charlie was doing to her body, the stress would catch up with her eventually. It isn't long till she's standing outside of a door with Charlie's name on it, and she can see Charlie standing up talking to a small group of people.

"There have been several fires, that are still ravaging through California, you need to focus your efforts on the North. You'll have to go without me, I'm not allowed to contain anything that big anymore, I'm not sure I can." Charlie said as she tapped the holographic imagery on her desk, zooming in so the extent of the damage could be seen. "You're mostly going to be helping with the evacuation. There are evacuation zones, here and here," Charlie said grabbing a pen and circling two areas on the holographic table. "Magic barriers will be put up, and if you can help with that then do it."

"I hate to be the person to bring it up, but are we sure now is the time to get involved? Titan isn't exactly polling well at this moment. People think that Titan is stopping you from helping, they need to see you Charlie. I know your abilities are relatively useless in this situation, but the people need to see you. Even if you're just teleporting around the evacuation zones." Azimio sighed as he looked up at Charlie.

"After the tidal wave, Titan isn't allowing me to take on anymore massive risks. It's not as if risk management wasn't involved, but the only solution I have is to teleport massive quantities of sea-water. Which I have never done before," Charlie looks up from the table, and smiles when she spots Santana standing at the doorway with Mike. "Santana."

"And Mike," Mike says with a roll of his eyes as Charlie teleports in front of them. "I'm fine Charlie, how are you?" He smiles when Charlie looks at him.

"I have to finish up this meeting first, then we can go for lunch," Charlie teleports back to where she had been standing before. It takes her a moment before she turns her attention back to the holographic map.

Santana struggles to keep a neutral look on her face when a few people turn to look at her and Mike with critical looks, but it's only a second before they turn back to let Charlie finish speaking. It doesn't take long, but soon the meeting is over, and Charlie has teleported out of the room beside them again. "Meeting done?" Santana asks.

"Yeah, let me show you around. This is my office, the people in there are my team. Team this is Santana."

"And Mike," Mike adds when Charlie seemingly forgets him.

"Now, let's show you the cafeteria where you get free food. If you have pass." Charlie pats her pockets and then frowns as she teleports back into her office. "Just let me find it."

Santana steps out of the way, as the people who had been in Charlie's office stepped out and she steps into Charlie's office, and looks at the holographic map. "Are you their leader?"

Charlie opened her cupboards and begin to root through them, "No, we work as a team. I generally end up doing my own thing but Azimio likes to know what I'm thinking so we don't end up clashing. It's a good system." Charlie grabs her trash can and shakes it till she spots her card. "Found it."

"And people listen to you?" Santana blinks, "And they do what you say?"

At this Charlie's smile fades slightly at Santana's question. "What I think Santana is trying to say—" Mike begins immediately but the words don't come up. He looks at Santana for help, but it looked like she was going to stand by what she had said.

"I'm good at this, and I like doing it. I like helping people. I don't know how to pay taxes or make a budget, but situations like this? I'm good at it, because it's all I really know well. It's what I was trained to do." Charlie frowned. "I thought you'd be impressed."

"I am," Mike offers and when Santana looks at him. "I am," he repeats. "And don't mind Santana. She's worried about you. Are you actually going to the fire?"

"I don't know. Titan has been working on a device that will let me know what my magic output is. They think it's because I can't sense magic, that my output has been affected and I could easily do the same thing with less magic. But they haven't managed to get a device that can help without breaking."

"Look, I know you think that Titan is looking out for you, but stopping a tidal wave—"

"That wasn't Titan's idea. Titan didn't even know that I created shields, or that I'd been practicing them on my own. Now they think all I can do is shields and teleport, but the stopping the tidal wave was something I chose to do. Sebastian already yelled at me about this, and Titan is still running tests on me. They're the ones that are restricting my magic use. If I do have to go to the fire, and I do need to deal with it. Titan will have the best healers ready for me once I'm finished. We put a plan in place in case I do need to make a decision about my magical ability."

Santana blinked, she had thought that Titan had asked Charlie to do it and hadn't cared about the consequences. "You have a backup plan?"

"There are several. I have a meeting every week with Titan's risk management team, and I have to meet with their research department every other day. That doesn't include all the training that they've made me do so my body can handle my magical abilities. And after the tidal wave incident I had to see a doctor every other day too, after I woke up. They ran a lot of tests on me and they had to take my blood and everything. I'm not just playing hero, there are things that I have to do, and I need to run my plan with my team."

Santana flushed. "Oh."

Charlie shrugs her shoulders. "So, the cafeteria is my favorite place, and they let me have seconds all the time, I think they like me. I don't even have to swipe my card again. Then I'll show you the gym and the training facility. You'll like it Mike," Charlie smiled, "Then we'll go home and fix up my furniture."

Mike looked over at Santana for a moment, it had been the first time Charlie had openly addressed his presence, "Sounds like a plan. You know if we're building furniture for you it's only right that you ply us with alcohol."

"I don't like beer, but Azimio introduced me to Bailey's, I got a milkshake, it was really good. Made my head feel funny, I'll make that for you. I also like cider, but the sweet cider. They don't sell that at the bar. You should sell it at the bar Santana."

Santana blinked, "There is no way in hell, I'm selling cider. If the millennials find out you like it, that's all they'll get. And no one drinks Bailey, I have a bottle of that shit gathering dust on the shelf."

"Do you make it into milkshakes?" Charlie asked. "Or eggnog, it's very festive Santana," Charlie nods at this.

"I just said I don't really want to deal with millennials, I know how to run my business." Santana snapped at her. She looks away for a moment, she didn't know why she was so frustrated. But taking it out on Charlie wasn't fair. "Sorry, you know how I get when it's this early."

Charlie studied Santana for a moment, "You're probably hungry too, so to the cafeteria." Without asking for permission she grabs both Mike and Santana and teleports away.

~ O ~

"Can I use the mallet?"

"You've lost hammering privileges Britt," Santana said as she watched as Charlie and Mike were struggling to fix the stupid nightstand. "We don't need the mallet we need Charlie and Mike to align the holes. You shouldn't be goading them to drink." Santana groaned looking at the three milkshakes that Charlie had downed. Each had been heavy with Irish cream.

"I'm being helpful." Brittany said with a pout.

"If you let me use magic we'd be done," Charlie pointed out.

Santana raised a brow, "Do you have magical put things together powers that you've never mentioned?"

"No but—" Charlie puffed out her cheeks. Santana had a point and the smirk on her face let her know that she had a point. "Next time, I get Azimio and Ryder to help."

"You're going to ask the guy who you dumped in the river to help you build furniture?" Santana scoffs. Like that wouldn't give him mixed signals.

"Wait what's this?" Brittany's eyes widened. "You dumped someone in a river."

"Yeah," Santana nodded. "He tried to kiss her and she dumped him in the Hudson River."

Brittany smiled, "Really?"

"I didn't know he wanted to kiss me!" Charlie said defensively. "I didn't want him to kiss me, he got close and I didn't like it so I made him go away."

"It's okay," Brittany said with a nod. "That was the right reaction but was it just because it was Ryder?" A look of confusion crossed Charlie's face. "If Santana leaned into kiss you would she find herself in the Hudson?"

"Don't answer that," Santana barks immediately, and looks at Charlie who blinks at the question.

Charlie looks between Brittany and Santana for a moment and looks like she's about to say something when her phone begins to ring. Charlie drops the nightstand and pats her pockets looking for her phone. "Yes." She listens for a moment before making a face. "I'm building furniture and drinking with Santana!"

"And Mike, and Brittany," Mike reminded her, he rolls his eyes when she flashes a small smile at him.

"If it's a monster call the Templar's that's their job. I can call Quinn for you," Charlie huffed. She listens for a moment before making a face. "Okay," she says before hanging up. "Sebastian says I have to go monster hunting, so I'm going to do that and then I'll be back. I'll probably be on TV again. You can stay here for the night."

"Wait." Santana said reaching out to touch Charlie's arm before she could teleport. "Is that all the information you have? It's a monster? Is it related to the fires?"

"Azimio saw something in the flames, he said it was a monster. I believe him. So, I'm going to go hunt it down, I'll be okay."

Santana hesitated for a moment, "Look, just be safe. Don't take any stupid risks."

Charlie studies Santana for a moment before looking down at the arm on her hand, which Santana immediately pulls back. She looks back up at Santana for a moment, "I'll come back," she promises, with that she disappears completely.

Santana immediately moves to look find Charlie's remote only to realize that Brittany and Mike were staring at her. "What?" She snaps.

Brittany smile practically lit up the room but before she could say anything Mike immediately stepped in, "Nothing, we'll help you find the remote, we can keep track of her and finish building this furniture.
