She should have worn her templar gear. There was something about the dark red leather, that kept the masses from bothering her. But this was Rachel's show and she just wanted to sit in the front row and watch her. "I'm pretty sure you've got the wrong person," Quinn said once more flashing a smile at the man who was certain she was Charlie.
"Nah, I'm pretty sure you're Charlie!" He said excitedly. "Can I have a picture?"
"Trust me, I'm not magic. And I would rather you didn't." She definitely should have worn her templar gear instead of her current black dress at least then she'd have her gun on her. She had bought the dress just for this occasion. She would watch the show and then go to the back and maybe the sparks would still be there and they could finally figure their shit out. She's about to shove the guy away when there's a sudden buzz in the line and the chatter starts picking up.
"Is that—?"
"She just appeared out of nowhere."
Quinn craned her neck and spotted Charlie who was currently picking at the cuffs on what appeared to be a new button up shirt. She's about to wave to catch Charlie's attention when someone approaches her and Quinn swallows as she realizes that it's just a kid. She has no idea why anyone would bring their kid to Gypsy, sure the kid looked to be about ten, but still.
She can't hear what is said between them, and but Charlie does drop to a knee so she's at the child's height, a smile on her face as she puts an arm around the child's shoulder and poses for a picture with the child. It only lasts a second but as she stands, a pen and paper appear in her hand and says a few more things before signing the paper and handing the kid it.
"Charlie over here," Quinn says loudly, watching as Charlie turns to look at her for a moment. Quinn takes a step back when Charlie suddenly appears by her side. "I didn't think you were coming."
"I almost didn't." Charlie replies. "Sebastian said I had to dress up. I didn't want to—but I wanted to meet your girlfriend."
"She's not my—"
"And he said when he met Blaine's brother he was dressed up, because he wanted to make a good impression." Charlie continued as if Quinn hadn't spoken.
Quinn raised a brow, "Do you really want to meet Rachel?"
Charlie doesn't answer the question as she gets tapped on the shoulder by someone, who holds his phone up for her. She nods and leans into the picture, pushing a smile onto her face. "Yes," Charlie answered honestly after blinking away the stars that hit her vision.
The short answer didn't give her the information she wanted, "Why though?" Charlie had declined to meet with her grandfather, let alone anyone else that meant anything to her. Why Rachel?
"Santana says if you're sleeping with her, you probably won't be calling me for help. Or to hang out. So, I'm here as Charlie, to help you get your girlfriend back. I'm famous, which means people listen to me. I don't really know why. But I have to be careful because Santana says she might fall in love with me, which is weird." Charlie shrugs as if that explained everything.
Quinn made a face at the name; she didn't like Santana and she knew that Santana didn't give a shit about her. "Why are you just listening to Santana? Don't you have any nicer friends?" Quinn turned to look at Charlie who frowned at the comment. "I don't mean to be disrespectful—"
"Santana is nice to me. Sure, she yells at me sometimes but that's only when she's worried about me. She can also make really good food. She is nice, she doesn't like you because you're a Templar."
"But you like me?" Quinn prompts.
Charlie studied Quinn for a moment before shrugging, "You're a templar," Charlie said after a moment.
"I'm not going to pretend that there aren't shitty people in the templars, but there are also good people. Our grandfather is one of them. I think you'd like him Charlie, he's not like the rest of our family. He wanted you to be a Templar—that's never going to happen and he knows it, but he never planned to have you locked up, and they hid you from him."
Charlie doesn't respond immediately, "Santana and I found Bill a home, where he can roam free and there are plenty of other slaads, there's a zoo for this kind of thing, so he won't be lonely and I can go and visit him whenever I want."
It was a rather clumsy attempt to change the subject but she decides to just go with it. "Despite what Santana believes, I wouldn't have let anyone hurt him if you had given him to me." She doesn't add if Charlie had just trusted her.
"You care about me because we're twins." It was a mere statement and Charlie shrugs. "You care about me. You don't like magic-touched in general. Santana says you don't see us as human, but you see me and I have your face, and you're not sure how you feel about me, but you care about me because we're twins and you think you're supposed to."
"Did Santana offer you that dime store psychology?" Quinn scoffed.
Charlie moved along with the line sliding her hands in her pockets, "Santana doesn't think for me. I can think for myself. That's how I feel about you. I care because you have my face, and we're twins, and I'm supposed to feel something for you. My therapist helped me realize that. She also said that all because you were a Templar that didn't automatically make you a bad person, which is why I'm here."
"Oh," Quinn mumbles Charlie had mentioned the therapist before. "Thanks. For trying." She hadn't thought about how hard this had been for Charlie. "I'll try, with Santana." This brings a small smile to Charlie's face. "I said I'd try." Quinn is quiet for a moment. "You like her, don't you? More than anyone else?"
"Yes," Charlie says simply.
"So why don't you ask her out?" Quinn prompted. "You know date her."
"Santana would kill me if she ended up in the Hudson," Charlie said with a bit of a smile. When Quinn shoots her a look, she shrugs her shoulder. It was a joke that Quinn wouldn't understand. Santana probably wouldn't kill her; she would probably yell at her. "I like Santana more than anyone else that doesn't mean she likes me more. And it doesn't mean we should date."
"I like Rachel more than anyone else." Quinn admitted. "I love her, that's why I'm here. Why we're here." Maybe it was too early for Charlie to figure out the intricacies of a relationship.
~ O ~
"I forgot the flowers!" Quinn hissed mostly to herself as they followed an usher towards the back of the stage. This would be the first time she had seen Rachel in three years and she wasn't sure if she still looked good, maybe the dress had been a terrible choice. She wasn't even sure what to say. Rachel knew she was fantastic; she knew she was destined for that stage. How could she put it into simple words how she felt? She can feel her skin start to moisten slightly as her nerves begin to build and she turns to Charlie who still looked irritated that she hadn't been fed yet. "Charlie—" Quinn winced when Charlie turned to her. Asking Charlie to perform magic for her was against so many regulations. "A rose, can you like make a rose for me?"
"No." Charlie responded immediately; she didn't make things out of magic.
Quinn deflated immediately, "Sorry, I just thought—"
"I don't make things Quinn, I summon them." Charlie interrupted twisting her hand slightly as a single rose appeared. It was perfect like the ones you would see on television. "You're welcome."
Quinn smiled and took the flower. "Thank you," she mumbled as they entered the waiting area. That was one problem solved. Now she needed to figure out what to say to Rachel. She would need to introduce Charlie and hopefully she could use the time to convince Rachel that even though it had been three years the two of them could still be together. Without all the drama that had plagued them before.
"Do you want mac and cheese bites?"
Charlie's randomness causes Quinn to look up at her and she spots that her twin is on her phone. "What?"
"Mac and cheese bites? Do you want some? I'm hungry and Lost Saint's has it on the menu. Would you like some?"
"You can't eat here Charlie—" Quinn began not noticing that one of the side doors had opened. "Look, I said I'd take you for something after we see Rachel—"
"They're really good Quinn," Charlie insists.
"Santana was always amazing in the kitchen."
The words cause both twins to turn and Quinn's mouth goes dry as she stares at Rachel, who was still wearing her outfit from the stage. Her makeup and everything looked perfect and the lighting in the room only seemed to accentuate her beauty. It was the smile that got to her, and made her weak in the knees. "I—"
"Do you want some Mac and Cheese bites?" Charlie asked Rachel.
"That sounds nice," Rachel admits flicking her eyes to Quinn who seemed not to have any idea what to say. "I'm Rachel, I hope you enjoyed the show tonight."
"It was nice," Charlie said with a shrug. She didn't have anything to compare it too, it was certainly interesting. "Quinn made me come. But you have a really nice voice." Charlie said and looked at her twin. Who still seemed to be stuck in her mind. "Quinn got you a flower. And she wants to ask you out."
Quinn's senses came roaring back almost immediately, and she turns to look at Charlie as her cheeks flush in embarrassment. "Charlie."
"Quinn. Santana says I need to be proactive as your wing woman. Because she doesn't think you're very good at it. She's right." Charlie says with a sigh. "You were supposed to say something nice and then ask her to go out for a drink or something. That's how it works on television."
Rachel bit her lip trying not to laugh.
"You don't just—television isn't real Charlie." Quinn sputtered, turning to look at Rachel who had given up and was now laughing at them. She should never have taken Charlie along, she struggled with social cues as it was, and she listened to Santana. "Rachel I—"
"Yes."
"Yes?" Quinn repeats, she had wanted to be smooth, to be cool like they had been before.
"I'm not seeing anyone, and getting a drink with you sounds like fun. How long are you in the city for?" Rachel asked. She needed a bit of fun, something light, with her schedule being what it was she barely had time to meet new people. She would have been worried about falling into old habits with Quinn, but Quinn was stationed in Europe, and it had been three years. They had both changed in three years, the Quinn she knew would never be out of her Templar's uniform, or without a weapon. At least it didn't look like Quinn was carrying. Not to mention she seemed less stressed; Europe had been good to her.
"A few more days, I was going to hang out with Charlie—"
"I have work." Charlie says immediately shooting that idea down. She studies Quinn for a moment, her twin really was bad at this. She wanted to spend time with Rachel, and Rachel seemed to want to spend time with her, so she had no idea why Quinn was attempting to spend more time with her. "And I have things to do. You can buy me dinner before you go."
Quinn rolled her eyes at this, "I'm not giving you my sword."
At this Charlie smiled and patted Quinn's shoulder. As if Quinn had a choice in the matter. "I'm going to go bother Santana now. You have fun with Rachel. It was nice meeting you Rachel."
"It was a pleasure meeting you as well, you are a true hero." Rachel said extending her hand and shaking Charlie's hand, before watching in shock as Charlie disappeared. She turns to Quinn who shrugs.
"She does that," Quinn explained before rubbing the back of her neck. "Sorry about her—she thinks she's helping or something."
"Or something," Rachel repeated. She was certainly an interesting character. "This is the first time you've introduced me to a member of your family. I hope I made a good impression."
"Hard to say with her, I think she was miffed that you couldn't eat while we were watching your show. But since you're not a Templar I think she's reserving judgement, and probably blames me for the fact that she couldn't have a snack." Quinn explains. "Were you serious about the drink or were you just helping me save face in front of Charlie?"
Rachel blinked, slightly surprised. "The Quinn I knew, showed up at ungodly hours in the middle of the night because she wanted to have sex, or argue with me which generally lead to sex."
Quinn lets out a short laugh, "It's been a long week Rachel. I've been looking forward to this since I managed to get the tickets, and I wasn't sure if you had anyone or if you were even interested in maybe trying again."
This time Rachel hesitates slightly, "I said I'd get a drink with you Quinn, that doesn't mean I'm ready to be swept up in all the drama that is being with you again. Hiding and pretending—the sneaking around? I don't have it in me Quinn."
"I'm single and my mom knows, as does the rest of my family. I've reached a point in my career where they can't hold me back either." Quinn smiles, "But I'm getting ahead of myself, a drink and then we see where things head. We can have a late dinner if you're hungry."
"Starved."
