"Wise men say…."

The house was a two story house painted blue, with a wooden fence, surrounded by trees, in the darkness of night the branches were spooky, the wind made some of them scratch on the windows and Levi Ackerman promised he was going to cut them. What had caught his attention when they had been looking was that in one of the trees sat a treehouse, Levi had sworn he saw something or someone staring at him. The chill he had felt was familiar and that made him curious and cold.

Levi, Erwin Smith and Hanji Zoe had all put their money together to move out of their parents house and they had bought this house. 5367 Willow Avenue. In a different town, quite far from their own parents, but something about it drew Levi, the lady who sold it had been quite shocked that he was insistent that they buy it, and she sold it for cheap.

At night Levi swore he heard music, it was hauntingly chilling, and he'd stared up at the ceiling wondering if he was hearing things…. Or if it was real.

Levi had asked his friends if they had heard the music and when they looked confused he stopped asking after the third night. He just listened.

Tonight he heard a voice humming a familiar song by Elvis Presely. What shocked him was the soft child-like voice he heard. Like all the other nights since he and his friends moved in, Levi heard a soft haunting piano throughout the house, sitting at his desk and closed his eyes. He wasn't sure what was going on, they had moved into this house three weeks ago. He heard noises at night and it scared him, but if he just focused on cleaning nothing bothered him.

He'd spent the night listening to the melody until he could hum along, cleaning the house and listening to see if he could catch those mesmerising eyes he had seen when he first came here.

Dark green eyes and when Levi was certain that someone was here talked slowly and calmly. He didn't really believe in the supernatural world until he moved into this house. He'd ignore his friends throughout the days and just clean. He'd shudder when cold hands touched him and he calmly said:

"I won't hurt you."

A soft child's laughter answered him and that was the night his life forever changed. He opened his eyes and saw a boy who looked no older than ten, he had brown chocolate hair and the most mesmerizing green eyes, he was short about 5 feet in height, and he smiled so angelically. His clothes were a little suit with a bloody red rose in the pocket and he looked so breathtaking, like an angel.

"Hi," the boy shyly whispered one night peeking out from behind the large potted cactus. Molbit had bought it for Hanji since they couldn't keep plants alive for the life of them, and to be honest, neither could Levi or Erwin.

Levi hadn't cared that this random boy had come into the house and stayed there, he knew he should have, but he didn't. The boy was always gone in the morning and never left a mess. He never told Erwin and Hanji, just thought the boy must have a reason to come into the house.

"Hello," Levi said and pushed the mop he was using on the floor and saw the boy sit on the wooden floor sitting crossed legged.

"Who are you?" the boy asked and grabbed the extra rag that Levi had and dipped his hands into the water. "Where can I help?" he asked.

"Wash the legs of the chairs Brat," Levi said and saw the brunete nod and scrub. "Are you the one who plays the piano in the attic?" Levi asks and he sees the boy's eyes widen.

"You hear that too?"

Frowning, the short man glances at the kid.

"It's hard to not hear, though my friends Erwin and Hanji must sleep like the dead to not hear it," Levi said and the Brat giggled.

"My mama was a pianist, she taught me too!" the boy says and begins to clean table legs and Levi nods.

"So Brat, what is your name?"

Chewing his lip and twiddling with the rag the kid stands to his shorter height and smiles his teeth pearly white and his eyes wide with innocence.

"My name is Eren," the boy says.

Something digs at the back of his head at the name but Levi holds out his hand and smiles.

"Nice to meet you Eren," Levi comments as they shake hands and Levi rubs his hands on his pants to warm them up from the contact from the boy's cold hands. "I'm Levi."

"Only fools rush in"

"Levi," Hanji shakes his shoulders and Levi groans, waking up on the floor with a crick in his neck, his friends standing worriedly. "Levi this is the third time that this has happened. You should stop cleaning after 830," his friend says.

"No," Levi said calmly and rubbed his neck.

He can't stop his late cleaning sessions, that's the only time he and Eren can talk.

"Levi, maybe you should go job hunting with me?" Erwin asks and accepts the hand, the three of them get breakfast, and after eating Levi goes to shower.

Still in the washroom he watches as Eren writes his name in block letters with the condensation from the heat: LEVI + EREN

Best Friends

"I had a really good best friend once!" Eren says as Levi wraps a towel on his waist and he smiles at the brunette.

"What was his name?" Levi begins to shave stubble and he watches as Eren begins to dry his dripping hair with another towel and combing it into place.

"Armin," the boy smiles. "He's the bestest friend, like you Levi!" Eren claps his hands and Levi smiles, with Eren he could say anything, they spent hours into the night talking and when Levi began to tire the smaller male curled up and Levi would fall asleep.

He always woke up alone and drained nothing a good cup of coffee or tea couldn't fix.

A knock on the door makes Eren go silent.

"Levi, who are you talking to?" Erwin asks and opens the door, Eren disappears out to the other door that leads to Levi's room.

"I was talking to myself, Eyebrows," Levi said. "Now let's go job hunting."

"But I can't Help falling in love with you"

It's a nice cafe owned by a tall balding man with brown eyes glazed a bit red. He introduces himself as Pixis and he introduces a slightly taller man than Levi. he has blonde hair and blue eyes.

"So, I'm Armin, you guys are new to this small town."

Levi's hands drop the cup of tea as he stares into blue eyes and he frowns slightly.

"Do you have a younger brother?"Levi asks.

"Um, what?" Armin asks.

Shaking his head, Levi heads to a table to sit down, he wasn't sure what to think anymore. His brain was foggy and all he wanted to do was talk to Eren, he'd talk to the boy who he was always happy and cheerful with.

"SO where do you guys live?" Armin asks and places another tea in front of Levi.

"5367 Willow Avenue," Erwin asks and smiles at Armin who blushes, then his face pales.

"What?" he demands. "Where do you live?"

Alarmed slightly, Levi and Erwin exchange a glance.

"My friends and I bought 5367 Willow Ave house. We've been a bit busy unpacking to come to town," Erwin said.

"And cleaning, Eren helps me," Levi mutters the last part but when two pairs of blue eyes land on him, puzzled.

"I… I need to go," Armin says, voice shaking. "Can you tell Pixis family matters came up?" Armin asks, taking out his phone he dials a number before walking out pale and shaken.

"Shall I stay?"

Eren is waiting for me, legs swinging as he sits in the office chair, eyes wide and a breath taken smile lingers on his face. Levi rubs his wrist, the one where his soul mates mark once resided in bright colours. He had been so sad when he saw the colours fade on it, revealing that his soul mate had died….. The EJ was now a soft very faint green and Levi frowned, it had been just pale skin colour except for the outline for the longest of time, so why the fuck was it coloured in? Faintly but coloured.

"LEVI!" The boy grinned, hopped down and hugged Levi at his waist and Levi melted a small blush blooming on his face. No one ever sounded so happy to see him before and he loved that feeling.

"Hey Brat, how was your day?"

The boy smiled once more and shoved a folded piece of paper into his hands and blushed red.

"My mama said that soul mates are the best thing in the world, that they make you feel…. Make you feel alive." Eren said and when Levi opened the card he smiled.

A small green heart outlined with grey sat on it.

"I dont think I'm your soul mate Eren," Levi softly said.

Twin jewel eyes blinked up at Levi and twin tears raced down his cheeks and Levi crushed the boy into a hug.

"Wwwwhhhat why?!" Eren sobbed and clutched Levi to his small chest, Levi shivered at Eren's cold body but continued to hug him.

"Because," Levi said and rolled his sleeve up to bare his wrist.

The cursive EJ sat there, it was faded and pale. A totally different contrast to what a soulmate bond is supposed to look like. "My soul mate passed away before I could meet them," Levi whispered and watched as Eren traced the two letters that had held Levi to his sanity.

"Would it be a sin?"

Levi didn't see Eren for two nights and that worried him, what happened to the boy? He had stayed up late into the morning but no sign, and no signature piano noises at night either.

He rubbed his eyes and strolled through town and stopped into a shop to pick up some gifts for Eren. he wanted to thank the brat for helping him clean the house and fix it up, Erwin had started at his new job and Hanji was busy doing science things in the lab downstairs, the only place that Eren refused to ever go into.

He saw a lady with short black hair and grey eyes with a red scarf on, despite it being fucking summer sitting behind the counter, she was drawing something and Levi was shocked to see two twin familiar eyes staring up at him from the pages.

"255.58," the woman said as she rang up his total.

"Credit," Levi said, swiping his card and taking the instrument case and whistling the familiar haunting melody on his way home.

"Eren?!" he asked as he strode into the attic and wondered if he'd see the boy, he always came from down there when Levi was busy cleaning.

A small giggle was heard before arms wrapped around his neck and Levi felt a smile curl on his lips.

"Levi!" Eren said. "I wanna teach you to play the piano!" Eren said and hopped onto the floor and Levi's eyes widened.

"Funny that," Levi said and held up the guitar case in his hands. "I was going to teach you to play the instrument I loved to play too," Levi said; Green on gunmetal grey, before they both smiled and compromised on both of them teaching eachother for an hour each.

"If I can't help falling in love with you?"

That night Levi had a nightmare, he woke up twisted in the sheets and clutching Eren to him, the boy's green eyes were sad and on him before he said he had to go home. Levi cried as he hugged the boy to him before telling Eren to take his guitar and practice the notes he had taught him.

"Don't forget to practice too Levi!" Eren agreed and left into the darkness of the night.

Later that morning Erwin and Hanji raced into his room as he woke up screaming.

"Like a river flows"

"I wanna be brave like you," Levi hummed the song he had written when he had turned 13 and it had stuck with him ever since. He was on his way to start a newspaper subscription so he walked into Springer's Newspaper and saw a bald shaved headed man sitting behind the desk and a brunette with food stuffed in her mouth goofing off.

"Hey Mr. Levi," the bald headed boy said.

"I'd like to start a subscription," Levi stated and signed up for a few magazine's and history ones too.

"SOooo is it true?" the woman, who introduced herself as Sasha asked.

Puzzled Levi raised an eyebrow.

"Pardon?"

"Is the house haunted?"

Pausing in mid stride Levi froze face pale before he shook his head scoffing. "Don't be delusional, there aren't such things as ghosts." Levi said.

"Bbbbutt, Armin said you hear the piano too," Connie protest's and Levi pauses.

"I'm learning to play it," Levi admits and green eyes fill his mind and he mindlessly taps away notes in his head.

"I can't help but falling in love with you," and once Eren had confessed that the song he played was his mothers favourite Levi looked it up and played it a few times, singing it to Eren when he had been distressed that Levi had went into the basement, the brunette never explained why he was scared of the basement but Levi didn't mind, he had started to really care for the kid, and he was calming to be around.

"Take my hand, take my whole life"

Friday rolled around and Levi and his friends had officially lived in the house for 1 month, and he'd gotten a history magazine about Shiganshina Falls Town and when it opened to a page Levi froze.

It was a picture of the house he lived in and there was a picture of Eren sitting in a suit with a rose, and a man in a prison outfit and a woman with Eren's looks and Mikasa that girl in the music store.

HUSBAND MURDERS WIFE AND KID!

In detail it quotes word for word that Grisha Jaeger killed his ten year old son and his wife and that he did it because he could, a 9 year old Mikasa had run away, saying Eren had saved her life by holding his father back.

Levi's screaming when Erwin and Hanji rush into his room and when he looks up he sees green eyes hiding in the shadows.

Levi looks at his wrist and screams more as he finally realized why Eren had been crying when Levi admitted that they couldn't be soul mates, since he had died 10 years ago.

"You're Eren Jaeger," Levi whispers, dropping to his knees as the boy rushes to him, holding his left wrist showing off the EJ in the faded ink, and Eren showing his left wrist where LA sat in faded grey and green.

"Levi?" Hanji asks, her voice soft and trembling with fear.

"How come they can't see or hear you?" Levi asks and see's Eren tremble and he crushes his soulmate to him and runs a hand through his hair.

"Because i don't want them too, but now you know so i guess i should." Eren says and he becomes corporal to the others in his room.

Hanji screams and Erwin clenches the cross on his neck.

Looking up at the ghost Levi swallows, now he knows why he felt so comfortable around the kid, now he knows why Armin reacted that way when he heard Levi's mutters, why Mikasa's jaw clenched when she saw his wrist.

"It pains me to ask…. But why did your father actually kill you?" Levi asks and tears fall down.

"Because…. Because we are Shifters, and I had been the worst, because the Story of the Titans in history had been real and I had destroyed the world 2000 years ago," Eren whispered.

And when small hands cup his head Levi, Erwin and Hanji see images of the past and they gasp as they see themselves fighting ugly beasts known as TItans.

The ending shows Eren with glowing purple eyes, older looking and with hair flowing in the wind as he stares at the destruction of humanity and Levi watches as Eren clutches his past self's body to his chest and the images fade away.

"You'll not see me again Levi in this life, but know I love you, always and forever…. Until next time." soft lips kiss his wrist and when Levi looks at his left wrist that Eren had kissed he sees the colours have faded and grief tears through him.

That night Levi has the longest dream of his life, a life of tall walls, titans, survey corps about Eren, about falling in love with him, until his death in that life, and he can't help the thought, because now he was both Levi's, past and present as they both thought

"For I Can't help but falling in love with you"

I have to admit i kinda cried when i wrote this, Merry Christmas
and Happy Birthday Levi!
