(Mid Chapter Authors Notes)
I follow the kai as she slowly towards a large dome-like building.
"This is the first year school building." She states as she glances back and gestures to the large Capsule Corp Logo mixed with a '1'.
We walk inside to see a Frieza race calmly sipping a drink from a tea cup. He is tall, with a curved horns pointed backwards, he appears to be in his second form judging by how large he is.
He looks up slowly. "Ah. Jasmine. Is this the final student?"
The kai nods once and sits a stack of papers down on the desk. "He is. Say hello, Nion."
"H-Hi." I slowly wave.
The Frieza race slowly flicks through the pages and nods once. "Alright."
He turns to look at me. "Hello, Nion. My name is Shiva. I will be your home room, first, and fourth period teacher this year."
He smiles briefly. "We'll be giving the students a more in-depth tour at the start of the year. So just please just come to the lobby on the first day of school."
I look over to the Kai who has been leading me across the city. "When does school start exactly?"
The schools are within the city district. And I was right. The city is FAR larger than what was shown.
The teacher leans back, opening a drawer in his desk.
He pulls out a sheet of paper which has my schedule. "The first day of class starts on August second. Five weeks from now. Or Four if you have to do cram classes."
"He doesn't." The kai states.
"Oh. Thank you!" I smile as reach out and take the paper.
"Don't mention it." The Changeling waves as he looks up to a large holographic screen on the wall.
The Kai, who is named Jasmine apparently, looks over to the screen with interest. "It's already started? Hn. Have there been any good matches?"
"This is the first fight. Fifth Year number one versus sixth year twelfth.
"So you are saying that they are starting off with possibly the best match in the entire tournament?" The kai asks.
"Possibly." The changeling shrugs.
My guide slowly looks over to me. "Do you care if we stay here for a moment? You can read your classes from that sheet of paper."
"Okay." I shrug.
"Thanks." The kai smiles as she nods her head.
'I'm not going to be a bitchy child. She probably has to deal with enough of that being an apparent nurse and all.'
I look around slowly and spy a chair in the corner, it's one of those basic ones you might see outside the principal's office.
I take a seat in it and look over the paper as I spy my kai guide lean on the table and look to the screen.
I really need to get to a library or something to figure this shit out. From context clues I have figured out that the academy holds some sort of tournament at the end of the year that is some sort of grand sport here... it's sort of obvious that they don't have soccer or baseball. There's bound to be a couple other strange 'sports' around. Who knows what these bored idiots locked in a proverbial spectral closet do for fun.
I slowly scan over the sheet.
'lets see here...'

'huh... class is so long... I'd barely have any time at all when I get to wherever my home is.'
'Ugh. These are all so boring! Where can I learn the Kaioken? Is that in the Ki Control classes or something? I already know the history of dragon ball- more or less, it'll help to touch up on it just in case I have forgotten anything- but that class will be far easier than the others.'
A small part of me lusts for battle, having gotten a small taste of it against those saibamen... and my body is right! I can't wait till I can get in some fights!
The kai lets out a cheer, causing me to look up at the screen. All I can see are tiny ripples in the air as the camera shudders slightly. A flash of gold appears here and there, but I still can't see anything.
One day I'll be strong enough to keep up with those epic battles...
I sit cross-legged on my bed, letting out a quiet sigh as an orb of Ki forms in between my two hands.
This is where I live, I guess.
I look around slowly.
The problem is that it is incredibly small... but at the very least I have a place on my own... I'd imagine they would upgrade me if I become somewhat powerful.
The room is split up into three parts, my bed is slid into a cubby created by the front wall, the side wall, and a cube in the corner of the room- which is the bathroom.
There is only a very small path way in between my bed and the other side, which has a countertop with a stove imbedded in it, a fridge which is larger than it has any right to be, a two-doored monstrosity with a small two-doored freezer at the bottom, continuing past the stove and countertop is a simple sink... and that's it.
There's a small stool slid up under the countertop which I could use to eat, and there are empty cabinets going along the ceiling, starting from the top of the fridge.
Over all, without the amenities, or the bathroom corner, this room would be maybe... seven to eight feet wide by ten to fourteen feet long? That's like, under a hundred square feet. When most apartments are normally around eight to nine hundred square feet.
It's cozy, I guess. I sort of like that factor... they also probably need to save space like this with all of the time patrollers around.
Conton island is only so big after all.
Jasmine, that nice- also really hot- Kai told me that while I am living here, I'd be getting twenty thousand Zeni a month to buy food and stuff.
The orb being bat in between my hands transforms into a donut shape, then into a cylinder with a hole through the middle.
It snaps back into a sphere of blue ki, then shifts into a cube, then a triangle.
The triangle sharpens into an arrow of ki as I slowly nod.
The arrow shifts back into a ki blast.
twenty thousand zeni... is not much at all. But I get a little more than most other races should they be around my power level due to being a Saiyan. I've got to purchase my food somehow, of course.
The food stalls we passed by while walking to my room ranged from one hundred and fifty zeni to one thousand zeni... and it was only for SMALL portions. If I wanted something Saiyan sized I'd have to pay basically ten times as much!
I could blow half of my entire monthly allowance on a single bowl of noodles.
Ridiculous.
Even if said bowl of noodles is roughly twice the size of a restaurant wok.
Luckily Jasmine showed me where to purchase food that'll save me in the long run, hell she even let me keep those food paste tubes that were beside my hospital bed on that table!
I'll get strong enough so that I can afford to splurge on noodles and not literally starve to death.
I also took a look at some other things as well that'll help me out in the long run.
Doing so, I have made a sort of... plan... for the future. During the next few weeks, I'm pretty fucked. I'll be forced to eat a little less. The cheapest food is worth about two hundred and fifty zeni per, typically sold in boxes of ten... Three meals a day, seven days a week would cost about... five thousand two hundred and fifty per week. I can make it if I skip out on one meal, or eat slightly less for a majority of my meals.
There is a small problem... the food I'm going to be forcing myself to eat these next few weeks is FLAVORLESS food paste.
'UGH!'
My nose crinkles in disgust.
At the very least I probably wouldn't oppose eating a little less just to make ends meet.
But when the school year comes around? Ohoho. That's when I'll start saving thousands of Zeni.
I poke the ki orb floating before me, watching as it ripples like it was made entirely out of water.
'I'm getting pretty good at this...'
The Ki orb suddenly shrinks to the size of a marble and begins slowly orbiting my hands in a figure eight.
When the school year comes around, they'll serve us breakfast and lunch. All for free! I assume it'll be flavorless food paste for the Saiyans, but still! If they feed me five days of the week- where I only have to eat 'Dinner' it'll save me SO much money! As I am now, I would go through a ten pack in three days. But during the school year I'll be able to make one last nearly an entire week! I'll be able to save up some money and buy stuff for training. Every month I should be able to save up around nine thousand Zeni.
The tiny ki orb winks out of existence as I flop back, my head hitting the pillow.
'Ugh. I'm so freaking bored... but this is the only training I can do right now.'
Is it weird that I am simultaneously dreading and really excited for school?
On one hand, I'll be in a class with a bunch of sociopathic children- as all children are sociopaths- but at the same time... I'll be able to beat up said sociopathic children!
Maybe.
One of the little bastards probably already has super saiyan or a form of equivalent power. Tingly bullshit! Why can't I get tingly feelings in my lower back?! Damn it!
All I can do for the next month is weak training like this.
Shame.
Actually I am getting quite hungry. I should have one of my food tubes.
I stand up and open the fridge, grabbing one of the tubes within
'ugh. Cold paste? This is going to-'
It's not cold.
"Huh?"
That is... unusual...
Does the fridge not work or something?
I look up and see the capsule corp logo on the front.
'this is the time nest. so maybe it stops time whenever it is closed? In that case there are bound to be some cases of people being trapped within fridges, right? Hm. Who knows.
I close the fridge with a small shrug and look at the tube I got.
Food Paste Deluxe!
Supreme Omelet Flavor
I shrug and eat the paste.
Yep. That's an omelet.
Is that some peppers as well? Maybe some bacon? Ham? There's definitely some cheese in there as well.
Whatever it is, I'm satisfied.
I quietly check through a list of supplies that Jasmine had handed me.
It has been one month and seven days since I have been brought to Conton.
Let's see here... 'School Uniform or Combat Clothing, whichever works for you.'
I look down to the black and white martial artist Gi I am wearing, it is primarily white, but with a black undershirt and a black belt.
I check it off the list.
Pencils.
I check that off as well.
Backpack. Check.
Scouter.
I pull the device out of my backpack, they had given me one for free.
This one is the lowest quality variant, it was made without any form of sensing ability so it shouldn't be called a scouter.
That looks like everything...
I slip on the backpack and slowly nod. 'Alright. Now to get to school.'
I shift the strap of my backpack slightly as I step through the doors, a couple other children turn to look at me. There are quite a few standing around, looking completely bored. Another Saiyan there, a Frieza Race over there, a few humans- or Saiyans without tails- a Namekian stands in the corner, a child shaped Majiin crosses his arms in the middle of the room, two Kais stand in the corner chatting, there's even one of Pui Pui's race... you know... the xenomorph looking guy that worked under Babidi. There's even-
A blue girl looks over to me, her glass like hair is tied up into a pony tail as her cold blue eyes look over me.
She looks away after a moment, seemingly losing interest.
'wh- huh... I don't exactly know what exactly she is.'
I coil my tail around my waist and just decide to stand slightly further away from the rest.
After a couple more minute of waiting, our teacher steps out of a room and seems to look over all of us.
"…"
"This is everyone." Shiva states as he crosses his arms.
The quiet murmuring is silenced in an instant.
"Welcome everyone." His deep voice echoes out. "I will be your home room, first and fourth period teacher. I will show you around. It is quite small, so it should be easy for you to remember. Please follow me."
We quietly walk down the hallway; this school is actually really small now that I think about it. And I see no older students, so it's purely a school for the first years.
He gestures towards a small walkway to the side that has two doors facing each other on opposite sides.
"The bathrooms." Our teacher states.
He gestures directly across the hall. "And this is our classroom."
He opens the door and gestures for us all to come inside.
We all slowly funnel into the room.
It's honestly an absolutely massive room, in the back is a raised platform interconnected with the wall, it appears to be a massive fighting arena... a little small, actually... barely thirty feet wide, but it appears to be around forty long.
Before it is a single large desk with a swivel chair, it is facing a numerous group of tiered seats and smaller desks, sort of like an auditorium.
"This is where you will be learning this year. We will teach, Language, Math, History, Science, and even practice sparring, all within this room."
We all gaze about as the teacher turns and steps out of the room. "Follow me, Class."
We shuffle out of the room, following our teacher down the hall, he pauses before a pair of double doors and opens them, gesturing inside.
Within is a fairly small room- considering what it is- are a few rows of long tables with chairs as part of the tables themselves.
"This is the lunch room." Our teacher states.
He turns around and gestures us out of the room.
We walk to the end of the hall, towards another pair of double doors.
He opens them to reveal a large exercise room, various work out equipment is strewn across the room, this is probably the second largest room in the school, second only to our class room.
"This is our training room. The objects here should be more than enough to help you towards your full potential." He states. "We will be going over training safety later, but as for right now, we should return to the classroom."
We all turn and leave, quickly returning to the classroom.
"Alright, students. Please pick a seat for yourself."
I calmly walk into the very back of the classroom and sit in the back corner of the room.
It might just be a small part of my monkey brain, but I really don't like people behind me.
It takes about five minutes, but eventually everyone finds a place to sit. Luckily nobody is sharing my desk.
This class room looks like it could hold fifty people, luckily we seem to have only slightly more than half of that. Allowing many people to have their own tables.
"Alright." Our teacher calls out. "We are going to do something a little fun today."
He walks over to his desk and pulls out a couple work sheets. "We'll be doing a little test on what you know. Not only in math, but through history as well."
With a flick of his wrist the papers shoot out, I can't even see them move, they go out in a fanning motion, shooting towards each student.
A piece of paper freezes in front of me, then slowly drifts down into the table.
My excited smile falls slightly.
"See what you know! Math throughout the Saiyan attack!"
Well... this is... disappointing.
The first day seems to be just one massive disappointment. The first class was just testing what we knew, admittedly some questions were pretty neat. Like 'What is the Great Ape's multiplier'. And 'What would Raditz' power level be if he turned into a great ape against Goku and Piccolo.'
There was also. 'What was Goku's Maximum kaioken multiplier.'
Speaking of kaioken, my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. After we finished our work sheets, the teacher allowed us to play on our scouters. I just used it to search up information in Conton.
I found a couple of cool things.
There is a Saibamen fighting league... like pokemon you just grow your own saibamen and make them duke out against other saibamen. That's honestly pretty cool. they have their very own leagues named after each brand of Saibamen as well.
It'd be a little uncool to have a pro with an Imiteman fight against a child with a kaiwareman, after all.
To put that into perspective, a regular Kaiwareman is grown at around five hundred. The average Imiteman would give Saiyan Saga Vegeta a run for his money with their power levels at around eleven thousand.
Also. Apparently Nappa is the champ of Saibamen fights in multiple leagues... dude likes his Saibamen. I can respect that. He was actually a pretty chill dude who cared for his allies if I remember correctly. He is the one that wanted to revive Raditz and even cared about the Saibamen that Vegeta killed the hell out of.
Next, I found out that... they don't teach Saiyans the kaioken... Ever.
Saiyans are taught to go immediately for Super Saiyan, and to just ignore the north kai's technique due to it not playing nicely with Super Saiyan.
The fucking idiots.
Super Saiyan Blue Goku has something to say about that!
Speaking of Blue Goku, I have made a shocking discovery...
Dragon Ball Super apparently doesn't exist...
I've not been able to find any form of media relating to Dragon Ball Super at all when I looked up the years it was supposed to take place...
I'm not sure if they are hiding it because they don't want a bunch of crazed saiyan children running around as super saiyan gods, or what... but there's also the chance that Dragon Ball Super... just hasn't happened yet.
Time is weird here in Conton, so it's a real possibility.
As for the rest of my classes, History was more of the same, as for the 'ki control' class, our teacher walked us through the basics of creating a ki sphere... yeah... that's all that class was.
Lunch was actually far better than I thought. They gave me a free DELUXE food paste! A single one of those is like... forty bucks- or four thousand Zeni!
INSANE respect to the school. I'm absolutely going to become a time patroller just because of that.
We are currently in our class room; I look down at my teacher standing in the arena. He is explaining combat safety. It's clear we won't be getting into spars today.
"Do you understand?" He asks the class.
There is a murmur of acceptance.
"Alright. Now onto an important part of class... Rankings."
There is a pause, then a quiet murmur as the other children look around excitedly.
"There will be two types of rankings in this class... the first, is the base battle power rankings... secondly is the combat rankings. Out of the two of these, the combat ranking is far more important. Keep that in mind as at the end of the year the top four students in the combat rankings for first years are allowed entrance into the Conton Academy Grand Tournament."
There is a cheer of excitement from my classmates as I let out a low hum.
I researched the Conton tournament thing. It's meant to let students gain mentors to teach them things. These mentors can range from 'important people' throughout time, to even older time patrollers. So, some could get lucky and learn from Goku himself, or others could be stuck with average joe the fifth.
There's also a cash prize.
So technically I might be able to learn the Kaioken if I somehow catch Goku's attention.
Frankly, there's no chance of that as I am right now.
"While the Battle Power ranking, isn't AS important, it'll be what allows us to determine your base combat ranking. After which we will have spars to finalize the results." Shiva continues.
He slowly looks across the classroom. "Any questions?"
Nobody voices any so he simply nods and pulls out a scouter. "Alright. I will be making down your current rankings now."
"Alright, Children, please unleash your full powers."
Auras of many colors spring to life around the room, immediately I feel extremely outclassed.
'Oh god. I'm one of the weakest people here, aren't I?!'
I allow my aura to appear as well.
He does a brief scan of the room with his scouter and nods, then gestures to a large chalk board on the wall beside the arena.
A piece of chalk begins floating and swiftly writes out a bunch of information.

I look at the long list and frown. 'First off, how the hell is he scanning the Android's power level? Wasn't it a plot point that they DIDN'T have a power level?!'
Secondly...
'I didn't expect myself to be number one... but... number twenty eight?! To get into the top twenty it would require me to be twice as strong as I currently am... and what's with my power level?! They said it was fifteen thousand! Why did my month of training only give me one hundred and twenty-nine power level?! I wasn't doing full exorcises, sure, but at the very least I expected like one thousand or so!'
I scratch the back of my head with a frown. I guess I wasn't trying hard enough... that'll change, of course. With the ability to legitimately train my body, my power level will soon shoot upwards!
Also, technically the base battle power rankings mean nothing. If I had super saiyan I'd easily be at the top of the combat rankings... At the very least I am confident in my ability to claw my way up to rank twenty seven. Maybe even twenty six.
Also, a lot of my classmates are just dragon ball heroes avatars... I mean, really. Beat. Basaku. Erito.
Legitimately every single Saiyan in this room- excluding me- is a dragon ball heroes avatar.
I assume they aren't the 'put a card in a machine and become a saiyan' type, either.
They probably have legitimate backstories and aren't basically Isekais.
Who knows what they are, though. I'm certainly not asking.
"Alright. These are our current base power rankings... keep in mind, base power is in no way an accurate assessment of someone's combat potential. It's just a little baseline we keep.
He looks to the clock for a moment before nodding. "Alright, this is as much as we shall do today, tomorrow actual spars will start. You are all free to go."
The class begins slowly gathering their things, a couple walking towards the door.
The rest of the class isn't that far behind, neither am I for that matter.
This school year is probably going to suck. I can already tell.
I lay on my bed, letting out a bored click.
Class today was a waste. Honestly.
We didn't even do any training.
I am excited about the spars tomorrow, though.
I quietly skim through my scouter.
I found the school's website.
I've decided to see what the hell we are going to be learning so I can mentally prepare myself.
Next year we apparently get electives in place of Language, plus after class. That's neat I suppose.
It doesn't seem like there is any concrete knowledge about what we will be doing this year, but there are a couple things that show up every year... firstly, in our science class, early next month, we are given a single Kaiwareman seed and told to grow it without the Saiba growth elixir- which is apparently REALLY expensive, costing like half a million Zeni for even a single bottle- next we are given a month to train it... then we are judged on the overall power of the Kaiwareman, the obedience, and then we force them to fight. The winner of the little mock tournament passing the class with a perfect grade, no questions asked.
The record holding Kaiwareman is currently...
I open a news article quietly.
I see Nappa flexing behind a tiny blue plant creature, its head, arms, and legs are light blue, while its torso, hands, and feet are a dark blue with white claws.
Damn it, Nappa.
What a fucking cool dude.
I read through the article as it talks about Nappa's record breaking Kaiwareman.
-at a staggering 2217! Utterly shattering the previous record's 1456. When asked about his secret, the Saiyan general simply smirked and stated. "A Saibamen's true strength appears during the growing process... you won't be finding any real strength when you use growth serum on them!". When asked to further elaborate, he simply declined, stating that "If I handed out all of my secrets. I wouldn't be a good champ, huh?"
two thousand. That's pretty damn impressive. And I don't think he knows about the Senzu bean method from dragon ball Kakarot.
But, honestly, saibamen in general are weaker than I expected, I thought there might have been one or two that were used as a training partner for many years, but it looks like there aren't any like that... it appears the downfall for Saibamen are their lack of intelligence. They are too stupid to train, really. If you try to teach them a martial technique, it won't stick. They also seem to have low overall potential, so physically training them loses effectiveness after a while.
I shake my head. 'Ugh. Why am I thinking deeply on the physiology of Saibamen. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.'
'Right now I should be worrying about the fights that'll be taking place tomorrow.'
I should be fine for my first one, I have faith in my Ki control, but there is absolutely no way I'll be able to claw myself into the top twenty with my meager power level.
I take off my scouter, reaching over and placing it gently on my countertop, then flop down on the bed.
'well, better get some sleep then.'
Welp, next chapter we start getting into the good school life, this was more or less just a setup chapter, we'll probably skip around a little bit next chapter as well.
And if you didn't read the summary. Gamer elements will eventually show up. You have been warned if that isn't your cup of tea.
Now! Lets move onto the power levels!
*Copy pastes what was posted earlier this chapter*
Honestly, the formatting makes it look like it takes up far more words than it actually does. It's only like 300 words total.
It looks like good ol Nion is going to have a lot of difficulty clawing his way to the top.
Now, for the guest reviews:
Justafan123: I'm glad you like it!
Guest 001: he was playing dumb, because reasonably, a child would have no idea if his 'Grandpa' was 'Jr' or 'Senior', also, no, he was still 200 years in the future... but here's the thing... Goku JR was actually WEAKER than goku was at that age (According to the Wiki) so realistically, Goku Jr unlocked Super Saiyan at like 15 or so power level. The fact that he was an even match against Vegeta Jr (Who also had Super Saiyan) means that the level of strength in that world has seriously been in decline. Goku Jr might have trained a little bit, but in the time of peace, he wasn't able to even approach a fraction of what his namesake had.
Technically speaking, yes. in Dragon Ball Online, the saiyan race has mixed with the human race. Everyone is a Saiyan now. Or at the very least has Saiyan genes. In the game, if you want to become a super saiyan, you have to wish for it from shenron, however, Nion's genes are very dominant (Thus the Tail) so while he might have a harder chance of becoming a super saiyan than a half saiyan or a quarter saiyan would, he is still able to do it without wishing upon shenron.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter even if it was more or less just filler! I'll see you whenever.
