"Report to your stations immediately," Strucker said over the intercom. "This is not a drill." I watched the twins hold hands as they reached one out to me. I grabbed their hands, and we watched as the men ran around frantically trying to fend off their attackers. "We are under attack. We are under attack." We watched as they did their best to fend off the attackers, but it didn't seem to help at all. "Who gave the order to attack?" Strucker asked the moment he was in the same room as we were.
"Herr Strucker, it's the Avenger," one of the men told him motioning to the screens.
"They landed in the far woods. The perimeter guard panicked," another man told him going to his post. Who are the Avengers?
"They have to be after the scepter," Strucker told List before turning back to his men. "Can we hold them?"
"They are the Avengers," the man repeated.
"Deploy the rest of the tanks," Strucker ordered. "Concentrate fire on the weak ones. A hit may make them close ranks." Strucker started whispering to List to quietly for me to hear. I looked to Wanda and she shook her head. They weren't being sent out to do his dirty work? Every part of me had to wonder why. I knew why I wouldn't be sent out. Strucker didn't trust me to come back, and I didn't blame him. But the twins volunteered for this to be done to them. "We will not yield. The Americans sent their circus freaks to test us. We will send them back in bags. No surrender!"
"No surrender!" the men shouted after him like some sort of rally cry. Pietro and I looked at Wanda when Strucker started speaking quietly again and she nodded. Pietro held us both close before running off into the base. He put Wanda down before picking me up and running out of the base.
The first "Avenger" we crossed was an archer. Pietro put me down before running between the archer and his target as he fired an arrow. Needless to say, the target stayed intact, which made the archer come out of hiding. I peeked at him and got a shock when I saw who it was before Pietro knocked him down making the archer groan in pain. That archer was my brother?
"You didn't see that coming?" Pietro asked Clint who looked at him confused before Pietro ran back to my side. He was about to pick me up again, but I stopped him as I watched Clint raise another arrow in Pietro's direction. A gun rose from the bunker and I gasped as it shot him.
"No!" I ran to his side, leaving a confused Pietro behind me.
"Clint!" A woman called out as she ran towards my brother. "Clint's hit! There's more than one Enhanced!" She pointed her gun at me as the gun continued firing at us. She kept her gun on me as she did her best to provide first aid with one hand. "Somebody want to deal with that bunker?" Was she another Avenger? Was she talking with her team? My unasked question was answered when a giant green monster ran through the bunker, unaffected by the bullets, and destroyed it. "Thank you."
"I can help," I told her and she just glared at me. "Please, let me help you." Clint groaned beside us and I looked down at him worriedly. "You can keep your gun on me, but let me help save him!" She just stared at me before nodding. She placed her other hand on the gun and I immediately tried helping Clint get bandaged.
"Clint's hit pretty bad guys. He's gonna need evac," the woman told her team as I grabbed Clint's hand.
"You can't die after you just found me," I whispered and I finally looked at me.
"Vicky?" he groaned.
"Hey, big brother," I smiled down at him with tears beginning to fill my eyes. "Long time no see." Suddenly, a big, blond guy came crashing from the sky.
"I'll take him to the jet," he told the woman who nodded.
"We're going to have to cuff you," she told me.
"As long as I go with him to where you're going," I said and she shook her head. "Then good luck trying." I backed away from Clint and built up a fire around myself so they couldn't touch me.
"Natasha," Clint started when the big guy picked him up. "It's Victoria, my sister. I told you about her, remember?" The redhead looked from Clint to me before nodding.
"You're staying with me until we get back to the jet," she ordered. "You do anything to compromise this mission or hurt us and you go straight to a cell."
"Fine."
"See you soon, Vicky." I watched the big guy take Clint away before watching the men who were helping my brother's team start to round up the men who'd been helping Strucker.
"We're locked down out here," Natasha told her team before she turned around to look for someone. "Come on." I followed her to the green monster and jumped away as he threw something down on the ground in anger. "Don't worry," she told me. "He won't hurt you unless you hurt us."
"That doesn't make me feel better," I said as she walked towards him.
"Keep quiet," she told me before turning back to him. "Hey, big guy." The monster turned to her with a small roar and she stopped moving closer to him. "Sun's getting real low." He growled at her before as she squatted down in the snow. She held up her hand, palm facing him until he got closer and tried to touch her hand with his. She moved her hand so her palm was facing the sky and he placed the back of his hand on top of her palm. She moved her hand to she gently ran it down part of his forearm all the way down to the end of his finger. He moved away from her, groaning and I watched in amazement as the giant, green monster became a small, weak man.
"What is he?" I asked in shock.
"He's not a what," she said defensively before going to him.
"Still doesn't answer my question," I mumbled following her.
