"You look like shit," Quinn said holding a box out for Charlie. "I didn't know what you liked so I brought donuts and coffee. I've been stuck in a hospital before, I know how the food can be."

"Don't take the bribe Charlie," Sebastian said immediately, he narrows his eyes at Quinn. They were only here to get answers from Quinn, and the only way to do that was to dangle Charlie like a carrot in front of her.

"But they smell really good—" Charlie trails off when Sebastian gives her a look, and sighs.

"Did you have to bring him?" Quinn asked nodding at Sebastian. "This isn't a bribe. Rachel suggested I bring a teddy bear holding a get-well soon balloon. I thought you might appreciate this more."

"Well it was either Sebastian or Santana, and I'm afraid of what Santana might do to you. Especially since she found that you were using homunculi," Charlie said staring at the box. Before Sebastian can stop her she's opened the box that Quinn's brought and has picked out the biggest donut and bitten into it. "Thith ith really good," she says after a moment.

"This is why you can't go anywhere without supervision," Sebastian sighs and looks at Quinn. "We heard your charge that a few Templar's died—"

"What the hell is a homunculi?"

"Homunculus, is the singular form. Homunculi is the plural," Sebastian said flatly. "Do you really expect me to believe that you don't know what they are?" At Quinn's blank look he glanced over at Charlie who seemed far more interested in the donuts. "Artificial human beings that contain magic. That's what they are, you had a warehouse filled with vats containing these artificial beings at one of the locations you gave us and you mean to tell me that you didn't know?"

"Sebastian, I have no fucking clue what you're talking about. I'm here because eighty Templars are missing, presumed dead. I'm here to ask if Charlie killed them—"

Sebastian turned to Charlie, who looked about ready to say something and shakes his head. "Don't answer anything," he barks at her before pushing forward a tablet and turning it on. "You mean to tell me you know nothing about this?"

Quinn rolled her eyes and looked at the video, she was surprised at the quality but her eyes narrow when she sees the vats, there is no audio, but it's obvious it's Charlie's body cam footage. But what she doesn't understand is the people in those vats, and she looks up at her twin for a moment who is working on her fourth donut. "I knew nothing about these—artificial humans?" It seemed so bizarre to her, so beyond the pale.

A frown graced Sebastian's face, "I assumed you were relatively intelligent, you were rapidly promoted when you moved to European branch, and put in charge of your own team. That means you either impressed the higher-ups, with your intelligence and competence or it was nepotism. Though if we're being honest, the Templars are known for their nepotism. You have families that are resting on the laurels of what their ancestors did. The Fabray's? The July's? I wonder if they'd be rolling in their graves."

Charlie licked some frosting off her fingers, "The Templars use magic, that's what Santana said. She didn't know how, but they've been using magic to track magic-touched, and they're weapons are enchanted. Drawing runes and glyphs doesn't make something magical. Anyone can do that, Sebastian can do it." Charlie explained causing both Sebastian and Quinn to turn to her. "You need magic to make the markings work."

It's the condescending tone, mixed with years of being quick to jump to the Templar's defense that has Quinn feeling more than defensive. All she had ever wanted to be was a Templar, growing up, to follow the Fabray way. "Magic is a tool and just like other tool it can be used for good or evil. Magic-touched are human and as such they can be easily corruptible—"

"I was under the opinion that you no longer wanted to work for the Templar's but here you are spouting the company line," Sebastian interrupted. He points to the vats of artificial humans. "Tell me, is this ethical to you? Is it morally just—Charlie you're going to make yourself sick. And then Santana is going to bitch at me."

Charlie huffs and puts down the last donut, and pushes it towards Sebastian.

"I'm getting married in a few weeks, you know I can't eat that. I have to fit into my tux," Sebastian reminded her.

Charlie is quiet for a moment, "I think the kids will like these," she says after a moment. "We should stop by and buy some for them."

"After we're finished here," Sebastian informs Charlie gently and it seems to work because Charlie smiles and picks up the donut popping it back in her mouth, and he turns to Quinn. "As I was saying, this isn't moral, it's gross even by our corporate standards. Artificial humans which you drain for their magical energies so you can power your weapons. It is an affront to all things decent and human, and you tell your grandfather and whoever else sits on the council, that going to war with Titan will be a mistake."

Quinn studied the image in front of her, her mind racing. There were things she never questioned, like the Templar's teleportation network. She had never asked how it remained open, not really. Her father had just said it was the perfect blend of science and magic, and she had taken that at face value. Never questioning how much magic and energy it must have taken to keep something like that open. "Your—teleportation—how does it work?"

Charlie glanced at Sebastian who made a face before nodding, "Go ahead."

"I don't know," Charlie said with a shrug. "A lot of it happens in my head, the positioning how to avoid teleporting into solid objects. The scientists at Titan have tried to follow me, but they're not quite sure how I do it."

"Have you never wondered how the Templars get to incidents all around the world so quickly? We use a teleportation network, we call it the world tree. I never thought about how much magic we must use to keep it open at all times, but I'm going to hazard a guess that they use these homunculi—" Quinn frowned, "They're people?"

"No, artificial human beings, they can't survive outside of the vats. We're certain they can feel pain, as you can see when Charlie teleports one out of the vat, but they aren't human. And experiments like this—they should be outlawed. If only because I can think of thirty different applications for this with a bit of tweaking from our scientists most of which are applications for war and I assure you that's the last thing we need." Sebastian frowned.

Quinn looked at Charlie who was back to licking her fingers clean of all the icing, "I'll look into it, but I'm not sure how much information I'm going to be. They already expect me of leaking information to you, and it won't be long till they drag me in and start demoting me, if I'm lucky."

Charlie meets Quinn's eyes for a moment, "You can't work for Titan. I don't want to work with you and I don't think most of the other magic-touched will want to work with you either. They've all seen this, they're all disgusted with all Templars."

"I'm your twin—" Quinn protests. "I'm the one that gave you all this information."

"Thank you for helping us rescue those kids," Charlie said quietly. "I've named one Oliver, he doesn't talk much but I think I'm his favorite person in the world." There's a small smile on Charlie's face. It's rather gentle and serene. "You need to be a Templar, so you can give me the information so I can rescue all the other children, all the other people that you have hidden away all over the world. I'm not upset with you, and I don't blame you. I'll work with you when you're in charge to make sure that all the bad things stop. That's what I want. For all of the bad things the Templars are doing to stop. And the only person I trust to get it done is you."

Quinn blinked, it was the most words Charlie had directed at her, "That's a lot of faith you have in me."

"I know, but you helped me save all those kids, so I trust you." Charlie said as she got up. "We really need to get these donuts."

Sebastian glanced at Quinn, "She's right. I hate to say it but right now Titan can't be seen working with the old guard of the Templars. Or hiring any ex-Templars right now. If you want to do good, then cleaning up the Templars is the most important thing you can do. I suggest finding a bunch of like minded people and fighting for the right thing Quinn. I know that if you're in charge and are actually in charge Titan would be willing to work with you. We'd be willing to back you. And you can thank your sister for that."

Quinn hesitated, there was something in the way Sebastian had said the words that made her uncomfortable. Like if she took the deal she'd owe Titan and that wasn't what she wanted. She had liked the stories her grandfather and father had told her of how the Templar's were the last bastion to stand against the hordes of darkness. "Thanks for the advice, and maybe when this is all over Charlie, I'd like to meet Oliver. I mean he's going to be my nephew right?"

Charlie blinks at this and turns to Sebastian. "I can adopt him?"

Quinn shoots a smirk at Sebastian who looks immediately frazzled by Charlie's question. Charlie had given her a lot to think about and she needed to make some calls.

~ O ~

"How can you not care about this Aunt Cass? We're supposed to be the good guys and yet we're the ones that are doing unethical, immoral experiments on children. We're creating artificial humans to use as human batteries. How could you possibly think that we're on the right side of history?" Quinn frowns as she watches her Aunt Cassandra roll her eyes hard. She had known this was a hard sell, but to have her Aunt Cassandra on her side would be a massive win for her. Sam had already promised to follow her, and the rest of her squad was firmly on her side, but she needed a bigger movement if she wanted to make sure that things changed.

"You're making the assumption that I care about being on the right side of history. You think that a group like Titan will make the right decisions? That they won't be beholden by shareholders? What do you think would happen if the Templar organization were to fold? Titan has shown zero interest in hunting evil, because there is no money in that. The Templars have been at war for centuries, the last bastion to stand against the hordes of darkness. Did you honestly believe that we've never bent the rules? That we didn't do everything and anything to have the edge against the monsters that we face? Do you know how many of our brethren would have died if they didn't have our magical tools? Those artificial beings that you're thumbing your nose at? They're our equalizer."

Quinn frowned, "Is this how gramps feels as well?"

"You're not a naive little girl any longer Quinn, the world isn't black and white. He thought you would handle this better, I pointed out that he had shielded you from harsh realities. This is one of them. There are rarely good guys in war. Titan has declared war on the Templars and I've already been given orders to act. So if you want to stay on the sidelines then stay on the sidelines and pontificate about what is right and wrong then you go ahead. I have business to attend to."

With that Quinn stared at the phone, she wasn't truly surprised that her aunt Cassandra had hung up on her. Still she glances over at Rachel and shakes her head. "She said no, that's my fifth one today."

"Well no one said planning a hostile takeover was easy Quinn. No one said it was, but what was that your aunt said about being given orders to act?"

"I imagine they plan on attempting to take Charlie in, they'll find her guilty of whatever charges they lay at her feet, and they'll attempt to execute her," Quinn said as she rubbed her temples.

"And you're just going to let it happen?"

"I think I'll give Sebastian the heads up, and let them fight it out for a bit. Either the Templars reform or we die, and quite frankly I think we really need to be afraid of what a group of magic-touched can do when they have the training that we have, and quite frankly the thirst for our blood. The only reason this hasn't happened in the past is because we were always the better equipped, better trained group. It's annoying because no one wants to do the right thing, these things always go like this, people die, and finally the men and women in charge sit down at a table and talk it out. The loss of life is going to be pointless."

"Despite the fact that I am a pacifist, I do believe that fighting for one's freedom is a noble goal. Now please call someone to warn them."

Quinn reaches for her phone before pausing, there was a very good chance that her phone was bugged. "Let me use yours."

Rachel immediately handed her phone over, "Because Charlie doesn't answer when you call her?"

She hadn't even thought of that, "Well she doesn't pick up strange numbers either, I was hoping to call Sebastian, so he can deal with it. Maybe he'll tell Santana, I think she's the only one that can stop Charlie from killing anyone. Charlie's mentioned a few times that the only reason she has trouble with Templars is because of the no-kill policy in place. I think my grandfather and everyone else is grossly underestimating just how powerful Charlie is." Quinn sighs as she listens to the phone ring and looks at Rachel, "After this I'm talking to my grandfather again."
