"Start!"
Izuku immediately shot forward, weaving through any path the bullets from his foe strayed. He already knew the gunslinger was proficient at martial arts, but Snipe wasn't as good at it, relying more on his pistols.
Before closing in on the pro, Izuku activated his jump boots, where he easily closed the distance between the two. Snipe, not expecting this, started shooting at the incoming teen.
The crowd went nuts. Never had they seen a battle like this!
The pros in the announcers box stayed silent, stunned with what they were seeing. It went all too fast, both couldn't keep up.
Eventually, Midnight had enough of the silence, and did her job.
"Catching up now, All Might, what are both opponent's advantages here?"
All Might laughed. "Well, Midnight, Snipe is scary good with those guns with him. He is a master at shooting anything long distance, whether it be a bow and arrow or an American hunting rifle. He is proficient at martial arts, and is an astounding tactition, making him a feared opponent on and off the field.
"Quirkless has no quirk to call his own, yet he has taken down some of Japan's most wanted and notorious criminals. He is a master of five martial arts, is a proficient marksman, and is a feared tactician. He can analyze opponents by their quirks, mannerisms, and critical thinking skills. I wouldn't be surprised if he already has Snipe figured out by now!"
Izuku ignored the commentary. He was completely in the zone. Snipe was proving difficult to take down, simply because he refused to let go of his damn guns!
Blinking, he figured out a plan. It'll take a bit more showmanship, but it'll have to do.
Grinning, he silently danced his way around the gunslinger, throwing feints and kicking dirt at the man.
"It looks like Quirkless is playing with food! What could he be thinking?" Midnight commented rather huskily, ticking the vigilante off.
"Yes! Well, it could be a plan of the younger hero. We might just see something interesting. A big part of being a hero is distracting your opponent enough to gain an advantage, no matter how dirty your games may be." All Might added in, sounding thoughtful as he did.
If Snipe heard the two, he didn't have a chance to respond before Izuku appeared before him, a katana in hand.
Snipe widened his eyes behind his mask. A katana? He brought a sword to a gun fight?
Izuku smirked. He slashed his way directly to Snipe, cutting down any bullets gaining speed. He flipped over the gunslinger, and using all the strength he could muster, batted one gun out of the opponent's hand.
Snipe hissed in pain when the sword struck the solid steel pistol. At least he had one more.
Before he could reach for his backup, he heard Quirkless speak.
"So, Snipe. You criticize me for using weapons and being reliant on weapons, saying that to be a hero, you must use your quirk?"
Snipe narrowed his eyes, realizing that shooting wasn't getting anywhere. He resorted to close combat, already exchanging punches and kicks with the vigilante. His voice was as cold as steel. "Your point?"
"Woah! Ladies and gentlemen! This is a rare sight indeed! Snipe has given up using his shooters and is now actually fighting hand to hand! This could not get any better!" The crowd screamed, excited at the new development.
Izuku smiled and lazily batted every punch and kick Snipe used and threw his own punches with more force. "My point is that you can now admit you're wrong! All Might just revealed that I have no quirk! And I'm using my own hands and legs to fight you!" He spun, jumping as he did so. He landed next to Snipe, continuing his assault on the third year teacher.
Snipe was getting impatient. This kid just wouldn't stand still! And not only that, but he was tiring out. This kid must have a stamina boosting regimen. Snipe was accustomed to standing in place and shooting.
As they fought, the crowd cheered whenever they exchanged equal blows, all impressed by the newcomer.
Snipe continued their conversation, irritated. "Yeah and so what? You're just a vigilante! You don't even have the guts to gain a heroes license!"
The crowd gasped at this. A vigilante teaching at the school! This was definitely unheard of.
Izuku backflipped away from Snipe, adding distance between the two. He looked hurt from the brash statement. Shortly, the hurt turned to sadness, which turned to rage. The man dare scold him like a child? In the middle of a fight he was winning? Yeah, no.
He leapt at the hero and drop kicked him in the torso. He watched him stumble backwards... a distance away from a railing.
Izuku smirked. Checkmate.
As Snipe recovered, he failed to notice the vigilante load a pistol with a bronze pellet. He was aware when he heard a gunshot. He was about to jump out of the way when he watched the bullet fly behind him.
Chuckling, the pro hero looked at the vigilante. "You missed."
However, the hero's stomach dropped when he heard a sinister chuckle out of the vigilante. "Not quite." The vigilante watched as the bullet bounced back from the railing, his plan coming to a close.
Snipe immediately hunched over, a foreign pain landing in the small of his back. He turned his head to see foam expanding all over his body, helpless to the capturing agent. He growled. The vigilante's dialogue had been a ruse! He let his guard down! He attempted to move his arms, but the foam hardened to a likeness of concrete.
The crowd was silent, obviously having rooted for the pro hero. What happened?
Cementoss, having been there at the very beginning (to ensure safety), walked over to the hero. "Can you move?"
Snipe attempted to, but couldn't. "No, I admit defeat. Good match."
Cementoss put hand out, a gesture signalling the round was over.
The crowd went ballistic. Never have they seen a match like this!
Izuku smiled, holding up a pellet. He walked over to the captured hero and dropped the pellet on the foam, successfully dissolving the substance. He helped the hero on his feet.
The pro hero laughed. "Good job Quirkless. I would have never thought to use the railing as a deflector. You got me good."
Izuku laughed. "It was either that or putting you in a scenario with your guns so you'd have to surrender."
Snipe arched a brow. "Oh, and what tactic would that involve?"
Izuku grimaced. "You don't want to know."
The two left the stadium, the crowd cheering for this new guy.
Midnight finished off. "And that's it for Snipe and Quirkless! Quirkless will indeed move onto the next round! Who knew an unknown would be so clever?" If anyone listened closely, they would hear a tinge of fear laced in her voice. She was still terrified of him, even if she still had to announce him.
{Class 1-A}
Everyone was silent.
Even Momo, Ochako, and Tsuyu were quiet. It wasn't that they didn't believe he'd win, but it was his method to winning.
Momo was stunned as she watched Izuku back the pro hero into a metaphorical corner. He even forced Snipe to drop his guns! She'd never seen a man so desperate to win that they change fighting styles.
Watching Izuku, on the other hand, she noticed that he was calm the entire time. His conversation mid battle was only a method to prevent Snipe from seeing he was being trapped. Then, she saw what the counselor was aiming for.
The railing.
With anyone else, they'd assume it was of little use, but Izuku used everything to his advantage. He knew Snipe was a better marksman, but that was all the pro hero focused on: shooting long distance. So Izuku immediately wrote that out of the equation, ensuring a difficult victory. He even put distance between them to give an image of retreat, when really it was a part of his plan.
The plan was smart, though a little risky.
That was why she admired him. He was smart, he was daring. In the counseling sessions she noticed that he was caring and patient. He was great at conversation, and it didn't hurt that he was attractive. And her age.
She shook her head after that one, blushing profusely.
She looked towards the other students, noting they were all in awe. Even Bakugo was stunned silent. They hadn't expected that this result would come into play. The only one she noticed that hadn't reacted in likeness was Kirishima.
He looked like he expected the green haired staff member to win. He looked almost proud. She narrowed her eyes. She saw Bakugo stare at him with suspision as well. So she wasn't the only one?
Momo watched as Mina and Kyoka left the room, Mina looking troubled. She wouldn't worry about it unless Mina came to her.
{Mina and Kyoka}
The two girls walked a small distance away from their class. Kyoka noticed Mina trembling slightly. Kyoka put an arm on her friend's shoulder.
"Mina? What's going on? Are you ok?"
Mina shook her head. Her voice trembled uncontrollably, and she was sweating slightly. She looked towards Kyoka. "Hey Jirou? Have you ever been in a relationship before?"
Kyoka's eyes widened slightly. "No, why?" Her eyes narrowed. "Kirishima didn't hit you, did he?"
Mina gasped. "No! Well, how can you tell if a friend is hiding something? Like, something huge!"
"Mina, where is this all coming from?"
Mina sighed. "Kiri is acting super weird. Like in the shady way, but not at the same time. He's tired all the time, he is a lot more alert than before, and he drinks coffee. Coffee! He never drinks that!"
Kyoka hummed. "Maybe he's training more than usual. Sometimes a new training regimen could wipe you out."
Mina shook her head. "No, whenever I ask him about it he says he's doing the same training he's done before! Do you think-?"
"No! Mina, I don't think he's cheating on you."
Mina glanced at Mina, doubt hanging in the air.
Kyoka sighed. "I don't talk to your boyfriend that much. I couldn't call him a friend, really. However, what I do see is unwavering loyalty to you. Even I'm not that great at this love stuff but I can see that he loves you for who you are. You're so energetic and spunky that it would be hard for him to ever cheat on you. Why don't you just stop pulling your punches and demand the truth?"
Mina looked at Kyoka thoughtfully. A smile stretched across her features, and she glomped her friend with a hug. "Thank you!!!" She backed away, blushing in embarrassment. "Thank you for talking about this. I didn't know who to ask."
Kyoka patted her friend on the back. "Its what friends do, Mina. I'm glad I could help. Listen, let's get back to the room. I think the next round is already starting."
Mina nodded in agreement, and the duo sprinted back to the room, the both of them taking their spots once more.
{Class 1-B}
When it was seen that Quirkless won, there were two cheers in the entirety of the box.
Pony and Shinso cheered like their lives depended on it. They knew Quirkless would win, and they were just as excited when they saw him take the pro hero down like he was nothing.
"Shinso! He won! I knew it!" Pony was waving her arms in excitement. "He was just so cool! He talked to him then BAM! Snipe was trapped!" She stood up in her seat, making wild hand gestures as she spoke.
Shinso laughed. "Yeah, Pony, he sure did. Let's wait for the next round."
Pony complied, and calmed down, just a bit. As the two students talked about the match, they unconsciously gripped their hands together. Yui saw this and cooed quietly.
Yui was ecstatic. Her unofficial mentor won with trained ease. Not only was she excited that he was participating, but he won the match! She noticed that The other students were disappointed, obviously having put their faith in the gunslinger. She hummed, waiting for the next opponents.
{Somewhere in the stands}
"Did you see that Tamaki?! Mirio?! The unknown won!!! He was so cool! Even I wouldn't have thought to use close combat! I specialise in ranged attacks, so I would have lost. But even so! He kept his cool and BOOM! Winner!!!" Neijire chattered excitedly to her two best friends.
Mirio was silent. He was impressed by the vigilante, for his tactics and his battle prowess. It was almost like he'd been against someone who relied on firearms before. He smiled at his periwinkle friend. "Yeah! He sure was something! I can't wait to fight him!"
Tamaki smiled at his friend's antics. He hoped the vigilante would win. The counselor did help him out, after all. "Yay, Izuku."
Not too far from them, a student watched the match, seething. He muttered to himself at a constant rate.
"Stupid Quirkless, booting me out of my chance to get all the babes. Now I'm just a loser who sells popcorn to bitches in the stands." He stopped when a cup was shot at him, lodging itself on his purple balled head. "Hey! where's the drink I ordered a while ago?!" Mineta ran to the source of the voice. "Coming!"
{Announcers box}
All Might and Midnight cleared their throats, and All Might shouted into the microphone.
"I am here! to announce the next two opponents! They're childhood friends, partners in crime! They're like brothers to the other, and won't hesitate to take you down as a duo!
"On the left field: His voice packs a punch! You know him for his radio show, but at UA, we know him for his loud personality! It's the voicebox, PRESENT MIC!!!"
The crowed cheered with full force while the radio host jogged out, waving to the crowd.
"In the right field: He is a legend to all underground heroes! He can cancel your quirks and beat you to a pulp, but cancel his sleep and he won't hesitate to do the same! Let's here it for ERASERHEAD!!!"
Aizawa only walked silently onto the field, not acknowledging the cheers he received.
The two nodded in respect.
"BEGIN!"
