"Begin!"
Aizawa immediately dove to his left, and watched as a yellow stream of sound waves demolish where he was previously standing. Looking up, he glared at Hizashi, who laughed.
"No hard feelings, Aizawa! I just want to fight against our newest member!" He didn't hesitate to continue his offense.
"YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Aizawa groaned. He'd never be able to get in close at this rate. He could only use his quirk so many times before dry eye became a serious problem.
Present Mic didn't stop. It looked like as the more he used his voice, the more energetic he became. Aizawa knew this well, having known the man since middle school.
Suddenly, an idea came to mind.
Smirking, he took out ear plugs and inserted them. He then took one of his anchor knives (support item) and sprinted around to where his opponent was.
"And Eraserhead dashes over to Present Mic! Knowing him, he has two or three plans in motion, and he is trying ar least two of them at once!"
Present Mic laughed as he saw his friend dart to his location. He didn't ever underestimate his friend, but when it came to an open location with no worries for the immediate vicinity, this was his game.
Or so he thought.
He projected his vocal offense at anything that moved. He watched Aizawa throw a smoke grenade at him and Hizashi blasted it, eradicating the weapon from existence.
What he didn't count on was Aizawa running in a completely different direction.
Aizawa knew this was risky. He grew increasingly annoyed at Nemuri and Yagi chatting away, describing what what going on. However, he could only focus on the match at hand.
He heard Nemuri call out in surprise. "What's this? Eraserhead is going for a close combat approach! I don't know who will take the cake in this one!"
Time seemed to slow down for the two friends as Aizawa rushed Hizashi, knives in hand.
Present Mic knew he was tiring out. A drawback to his voice usage was the voice usage. His throat would become sore, and it would be increasingly more difficult to continue for long periods of time. While the battle has been going on for a good fifteen minutes, the intensity more than made up for lengths of time.
Present Mic was all but helpless as he watched Eraserhead leap over him, his capture scarf grabbing onto the vocal users leg. The black haired man pulled as he landed, successfully sending the blonde to the ground.
"And Eraserhead trips his opponents up! The teacher has always been crafty at his most intense moments, and this is no exception!"
Nemuri added onto the announcement her blonde co-host made. "Yes! What we just witnessed was a classic Eraserhead tactic! I like to call it: 'Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies at bay'. While it may sound confusing, what he's doing is slowly tiring his opponents out! By tripping them or allowing them to go all out at the first half of the battle, each enemy eventually runs out of stamina, ensuring Aizawa steals the win!"
Present Mic widened his eyes. He felt like a moron. Of course! He should have seen the tactic a thousand meters away!
He backed away, just in time as he watched the capture device slam into the ground. He narrowed his eyes, his smile leaving him. It was time to get serious.
{Class 1-A}
Jirou looked surprised. "Hey guys?" the class looked towards her. "What does it mean when when Present Mic stops smiling?"
The class shuddered, almost afraid to answer the question. Kaminari spoke up, his voice quiet. "It means our homeroom teacher is going to have the hardest fight of his life."
The class didn't acknowledge what the electric teen mentioned. They were anxious to see the result of the battle.
{The field}
"And Present Mic is now getting serious!" Midnight called out, shaking with excitement.
"YES!!!" All Might called out, causing the audience to sweat drop.
If the two teachers heard them, they didn't bother to react.
Aizawa has known Present Mic for years, ever since their early days as aspiring pro heroes. He knew that with Hizashi's quirk, he would tire out eventually.
However, Present Mic was not a one trick pony. The blonde was very proficient at boxing, believe it or not. The blonde knew that he'd have to have more than one form of fighting in him for him to succeed at being a pro hero.
Aizawa noticed when Present Mic rushed him. It wasn't surprising, but it was certainly unexpected. His eyes widened when his loud friend suddenly went on the offensive, weaving his way out of any attack Aizawa threw at him. What surprised Aizawa the most was the fact that Mic stopped using his quirk.
"And Present Mic changes tactics! Listen here, folks! This is a rare occasion! You are all witnessing Present Mic show off his skills in close combat! Usually we all see the loudmouth use ranged attacks, as shown from the very start of the match, but as Aizawa has famously said:"
The crowd turned their heads to the student boxes, and were stunned when they all heard them scream:
"Heroes are not one trick ponies!"
Midnight laughed. "Thats absolutely correct! Extra credit to both classes 1-A and 1-B for volunteering that answer!"
The crowd whipped their heads back to the field when they all heard a pained grunt. They all watched Aizawa fly backwards and land unceremoniously onto the ground.
The crowd went wild. They didn't know they'd be cheering so much for the radio host, and were even more excited to see him change tactics and actually land a hit on the quirk disabler.
Aizawa flipped onto his feet, and was shot backwards as a locomotion of sound barreled into him. Aizawa rolled to his side and hissed in pain as he felt his arm go numb. He knew his left arm was broken. He had to finish the battle soon.
He glared at his opponent, but paused when the blonde smiled apologetically.
Present Mic waved at his opponent. "Sorry! I just got EXXXCCCCCCIIIITTTTTTEEEEDDDD!"
Aizawa nimbly dodged, his actions slower, but he managed to escape the wrath of soundbyte. He sprinted towards his friend and activated his quirk. Once again, he was surprised when Mic sprinted towards him, having read the quirk disabler.
Aizawa then realized one crucial mistake. He underestimated his opponent. He was so accustomed to enemies being surprised and shocked when their quirks couldn't be used, that he expected Mic to act in the same way.
Now he was paying that price.
Midnight was barely heard in the background, Aizawa narrowed his eyes, it was go all out or sit out.
Present Mic knew that in close combat, Aizawa took the prize. But, he shattered one arm. That would be enough.
Mic sidestepped a roundhouse kick, and delivered a devastating punch on Aizawa's right shoulder. He knew he did his job when he heard a muffled grunt, and when he saw both arms hanging limply at Aizawa's sides. He grinned when he felt his quirk disappear, for a moment.
Aizawa was tired. So freaking tired. His arms were a lost cause, so he couldn't use his capture gear. He could use his legs, but he'd have trouble since his arms couldn't be used to balance him out.
He used a last resort.
He used his quirk, begging for a sliver of hope that Hizashi would pause when he discovered he couldn't use his quirk. If he just had his arms the battle would be over!
Alas, not everything went his way, as he discovered early in his career.
Hizashi didn't even hesitate to continue an assault on Aizawa. Aizawa knew when he lost, and he was dead positive he didn't win this match. Both were on their last legs, but he'd be damned if he didn't go without a fight.
The two smirked, their childhood rivalries coming to light once more.
The two backed away.
"What's this? the two just stopped fighting! What's going on?"
Paying Nemuri no mind, the opponents sprinted at each other, and while Aizawa leaped into the air, Hizashi struck forward.
Aizawa felt his right leg shatter like glass, and Hizashi felt his right fist break.
Aizawa crumpled to the ground, passed out from the pain, and Hizashi walked over to his friend to make sure he was alive.
The crowd was silent.
.
No one moved.
.
No one breathed.
.
Cementoss walked over to the duo, rose a hand in the air, and announced the results. "Eraserhead is passed out. The winner here is Present Mic!"
The crowd was ballistic. This match was the match of the season! So many elements went into that match and the intensity made them all feel rewarded for attending the festival. Even viewers at home were amazed by the fight.
The two announcers screamed together. "PRESENT MIC WINS!"
Midnight chattered nonstop. "Can you believe this folks! What an intense match! Both had their advantages and disadvantages, but really it came down to grit, determination, and sheer skill! How about that! All Might, you owe me 10000 yen!"
All Might sighed, handing her the money.
Nemuri finished up. "After a quick thirty minute break time, we'll continue onto The next match! Stay tuned!
{Class 1-A}
They were all standing, cheering. They haven't ever seen a match like this, and weren't expecting the end result.
But they didn't care.
It only showed them more than using their quirks. Sure, they heard more than enough of that from their homeroom teacher, but they needed to see it for themselves.
Even Bakugo was screaming in excitement.
Eventually, they calmed down, excitedly talking about the match, what they liked most about it, and changes to their own fighting styles.
The lessen didn't affect anyone more than Kirishima.
Seeing the battle happen before him made him think about Izuku's battle against Toga. While Kirishima was being trained in Martial arts, he knew he had a long way to go to even match Aizawa.
He pumped a fist in the air, more determined than ever to catch up to his teacher.
{behind the stands}
Izuku grinned when he saw Present Mic win. He'd been wanting to fight the radio host, ready to show his wit and skills against a quirk like that. While Snipe was good at long range, bullets can only go so far. In the case of Present Mic, his quirk can extend a hundred meters easily. It must have been difficult to control the range of the radio waves.
He watched as Mic walked into the room. The both of them glanced at each other, and smirked. No words were needed. They already knew the message.
There was no holding back.
