Filing paperwork was the least favourite job of any hero. Especially to those like the Iidas.
Tensei Iida sighed in relief as he grabbed the last stack of papers on his desk. His hand cramped, but he didn't lessen his hold on the pen.
The papers he was filling out were internship requests, and he had a couple of students he wanted to intern with him. Not that he needed sidekicks anyways. He had over forty of them.
Maybe Tenya would enjoy paperwork, based on what QL is telling me.
Tensei knew his brother meant well, but sometimes he thought his little brother might want to loosen up, maybe just a bit.
Or a lot.
The elder brother chuckled. If there was anything he expected out of his little brother, it was definitely a girlfriend. Friends, he definitely expected, and it looked like he made a few. He shook his head. He hoped his brother would find someone one of these days.
"Sir, someone is here to see you."
Tensei jumped at the sudden voice. He forgot he had that intercom installed recently. It helped when expecting guests.
"Thank you, send them up." He ended the conversation and continued his paperwork. "Hanta Sero and Mina Ashido. I do hope you select this agency."
A knock sounded on his door. "Come in!"
A tall man with the head of a dog walked in. "Good evening, Tensei."
"Good evening commissioner! What do I owe the pleasure for this visit?"
The commissioner woofed. "I'd like to question you on your knowledge of Stain, the hero killer."
"Who do you want to play with, daddy?"
Izuku smiled at Eri, who noticed him filling out a form for internship requests. He had a handful of studnets in mind, and he was excited to work with them, if they were up for it. He looked to his daughter. He laughed when Eri called internships as playing.
"Well, I already know that Mr. Shinso is interning with me, and Mr. Kirishima is too. I'm asking for Tsuyu Asui, Mr. Todoroki, and Jirou Kyoka."
"I like Mr. Shinso! His hair is pretty." At this time, Eri was spinning in circles.
Kota looked over at the two. "Tsuyu is nice."
Izuku smiled. "Yes she is." He noticed a tiny hue of red on the boy's cheeks. One eyebrow went up, a smirked replacing his smile. "Oh? Looks like someone has a crush!"
"I do not!"
"I call it as I see it."
"I don't have a crush on her!"
"Sure, sure."
"Why are you like this?"
"I'm a sadist."
"What does that even mean?"
"You'll find out when you're older."
Kota swivelled his body around, too embarrassed by his father's antics. Izuku chuckled. He enjoyed spending time with his kids like this. It's already been a week since their adoption and they were adjusting to their lifestyle like a fish to water.
He did too, if he was going to be honest. He liked being a dad, and it helped him fill that hole he felt since he was eleven years old. He loved seeing them happy, so in turn he was happy.
He chuckled and went back to his paperwork, letting Eri and Kota to explore the room.
Izuku, Eri, and Kota were standing in Class 1-A, puzzlement being the primary expression on their faces.
"Um, Aizawa, what exactly am I doing here?"
Aizawa stepped to his sleeping bag, unzipping the yellow package of fiber. "Calling in my favour. I'm not good at helping with hero names, so good luck."
Before Izuku could even respond her heard light snoring from the bag.
Shaking his head, he looked to the class, who was eager to begin. Eri and Kota sat on the desk, playing with their toys.
Izuku cleared his throat. "Okay, well, this is the first class I've ever taught, so please don't fret if I don't know something."
He ignored a scoff from the back of the room.
"Anyways, Sleeping Beauty over there said something about hero names? Can someone elaborate on it please?"
Tenya stood up, palms stiff. "Mr. Aizawa said last week that we were to think about our hero names! So I believe we are to determine them with you." He sat down, quiet as he was before.
Izuku blinked. "All right." He clapped his hands. "Who wants to go first?"
Bakugo shot out of his seat. "I'll go so I don't have to wait on these extras!" He was cut off with a chop to the neck, silencing him.
"Thats enough out of you." Izuku growled. "Just show the damn name and sit down."
The rest of the class was slightly stunned at the complete 180 in attitude the counselor showed. At this point, they knew he wasn't the dean of student behavior and a counselor for show. Rumor had it that he expelled three students for unruly behavior in an environment that did not warrant brawls. In one day.
The thought of being on his bad side unnerved them.
Katsuki didn't react, but held up a board in front of them. "King Explosion Murder!"
"No."
Katsuki scribbled something on the board.
"Lord Explosion Murder!"
"No."
He once again scribbled on the board.
"Explosion!"
"No."
"What the fuck is wrong with them?!" Katsuki swivelled his head towards the sub, who was pinching the bridge of his nose. "No civilian is gonna feel safe by hearing any of those. How about you go to your seat and think of something?"
Katsuki grumbled as he trudged to his seat.
"I wanna go next!"
Izuku smiled at the bouncing Mina and nodded. She showed a board. "Alien Queen!" The class assumed he'd turn it down, considering they each thought of the movie Alien when they heard it.
"I like it!"
"Huh?" The class looked to Izuku, who shrugged. "It fits her. Sure, some might think if the alien movies but when I hear alien queen it does nothing but put me in high spirits." He flashed a thumbs up to Mina. "Youre good to sit down!"
And so the rest of the class went as shown. Some were turned down, while others were encouraged.
"President Explosion Murder!"
"For the last time, Katsuki, stop with the Explosion and Murder!"
The bell rung, signaling the end of the day. Aizawa sat up, looking like he barely slept at all. Apparently, this was the norm.
Izuku smiled at the class. "Good work today! I look forward to working with you all in the future, as professional heroes!" He left the room with Eri and Kota, who waved to the students.
It had been a good day for Izuku, overall.
"Red Riot, cover me!"
"You got it!"
Izuku and Kirishima received a call from a detective in Tokyo, something about a kidnapping. Naturally, Izuku and Kirishima immediately flew down to the area, and discovered the culprit on the street by chance.
Izuku and Kirishima were now in a full out brawl against a criminal who's quirk was literally manipulating anything he touches. In Izuku's eyes, he was just annoying.
"QL!" Kirishima called out while dodging a bent fire hydrant. "How do we even counter this guy?!"
Izuku grunted as he was sent back by a truck slamming his entire figure. "We- Gah! We throw something he can't manipulate well!"
"What's that?"
Izuku pulled out a flame thrower. "Flames! It's fire, so he can't physically touch it!" He put the weapon on the highest setting and pulled the trigger, walking to the criminal cautiously.
The criminal was not happy by this. "So! You've discovered a set back of mine, eh? Well, no matter! I'll have you squashed in no time!" The criminal grabbed onto a lamp pole and forced it down over the vigilante.
Izuku didn't flinch. He just walked around the area and jumped forward to evade the pole. He smirked. The criminal was running out of options
Eventually, the criminal was down. Shortly before succumbing to defeat, he gave the hero and vigilante the location of the girl, as to which the knocked him out as a reward.
To their utter shock, it wasn't just a little girl he kidnapped.
No, there were tens of boys and girls deemed "missing" that spanned from months ago. The cases were abandoned over time. Each child was living in a single penthouse where it appeared to be that the kids lived like adults: the way Izuku lived. After questioning every child, he was mortified to know that they all lived like this in exchange for sex. It was more likely he threatened to kill them if they didn't do what they say, since none of the children wanted to be there.
It broke the vigilante and hero.
After watching the missing children reunite with their parents, Izuku sent Kirishima home after a long hug. They had no idea how to even feel about their discovery.
He received his pay and sat on a curb, contemplating the punishment of the man he and Kirishima arrested. It wasn't that he was good at kidnapping one child for his own selfish desires, he succeeded in kidnapping boys and girls over the span of months. It was twisted. So twisted, that Izuku thought about murdering him.
It popped in his head for a sliver of a second.
He thought about those kids. The reactions and looks on all forty kids when they realized they were free was heart shattering. He realized that Eri and Kota could be in the same situation if he wasn't careful. They could be taken away.
He thought about Eri and where she was before he adopted her. Tsukauchi and Izuku didn't even know who the man who kidnapped her was. They still didn't know. Every lead he's received turned to dead ends.
Dead ends.
His eye twitched.
That was it. A dead end.
He knew where to look. It was right there, staring at him in the face.
He had to go back to where he found her.
The dead end was an alley, leading to nowhere.
Kirishima walked through his front door, tossing his keys to the ring, and not responding when it missed. He'll just get it in the morning.
He walked to the kitchen table where he saw a note. Mom and dad are out late again, eh? Fine. I wasn't hungry anyways. He walked to the bathroom, and just...stared at the mirror. He just stared. He drank in every scar he earned, every single burn he took in.
He splashed water on his face, snapping him up from his trance.
The rescue of all those kids were eye opening. There were forty kids. It sickened him.
Forty. Kids.
Kirishima just wanted to scream. He wanted to break everything in sight. He wanted to punch people and things around him.
He curled up and cried instead. His heart was hurting, and he wasn't in the mood to cheer up.
What he witnessed tonight solidified and changed his resolve as a hero.
He wanted to help all the children out there. All of them. He was ready to face anything worse than what he and Izuku witnessed this night.
It was a night he was keen on forgetting, but he never would.
Izuku returned home, grateful that he was still in one piece. He visited the area he met Eri in, and didn't expect what he found.
A beak.
At first, he assumed it was trash, but looking at it more closely, he thought if it too functional and well made to be garbage.
His eyes widened as he made a connection. That guy, he was wearing something like this! This was the lead he was looking for! Smiling, he called Tsukauchi.
"*yawn* Hello?" An exhausted Naomasa answered the phone.
"Hey! Nao! I have it!"
"Have what?"
"A lead. We can finally find the guy who had Eri."
Izuku heard something shatter. Assuming it was a cup or something, he ignored it and waited for Tsukauchi.
"W-where are you right now, QL?"
"My house, driveway. I'm about to walk in."
"Alright. I'll be there in twenty."
Click
Izuku glanced at the phone and smiled. He can finally get some answers.
His night was about to get better.
