"SCRAW!!!"
Izuku grunted as he shot down yet another Nomu from the skies, killing it before it even hit the ground. Izuku didn't hesitate to aim to his right and shoot, downing a nomu running his way.
"Fuck, just how many of these things are there?"
"More than we thought possible, apparently." Izuku turned to see Tsukauchi run in his direction, a pistol in hand. Izuku turned back to the scene in front of him, his face filled with anger.
The city was on fire. The whole city, it seemed. Kilometers of flame spewed clouds of smoke, and no one could breathe. Monsters littered the air, as well as the streets.
He'd seen bodies of pro heroes and sidekicks litter the ground as well. They were all fairly new, but now they wouldn't have a chance to gain more experience.
He watched pros run everywhere, taking down as many monsters as possible. Voices became a cacophony of noise, and Izuku could have sworn…
He turned to Naomasa. "I'll be back. My radio is on, just in case. I'll inform you of what I see." His tone held nothing for debate as he ran off to an alley, a crossbow loaded.
He huddled behind a dumpster, where he witnessed a tin can rushing an agile being. Izuku squinted at the figures; they looked awfully familiar.
His eyes widened. It couldn't be him, could it?
He launched himself away from the dumpster, firing his crossbow. The arrow struck his target, who sailed backwards from the force.
Izuku glared at the figure. "Stain! What are you doing?"
The hero killer looked at the vigilante in surprise, which quickly turned to hatred. "Ah, yes. The hypocrite. I was wondering when you'd show. I was getting bored from these two withered leaves."
Izuku narrowed his eyes as they lay on a bleeding Iida, as well as an unmoving hero in the corner. He turned his view back to the villain, who was removing the arrow.
"What do you mean by hypocrite?"
"No...go...It's not...worth...it"
Izuku ignored the pleas of the hero in training. He just waited expectedly at the villain, who chuckled dangerously.
"You only became a vigilante for glory. Working at the hero school? Putting on a show for the scum that is false heroes, and people looking for a show." He scoffed. "Despicable."
Izuku smirked. "Oh, so you saw me at the sports festival! I hope I didn't disappoint!" He formed his body into a stance. "I'm only working at the school to help the students. I still do my old job too, so I still uphold my ideals."
Stain smiled. "Then prove it! Let's have a round. I might just let you live."
Without warning, the villain hurled a knife with calculated aim at the vigilante, who sidestepped the weapon with practiced ease. Expecting a second attack, he continued side stepping more weapons until there was an opening.
Knowing Stain, there rarely was one.
Izuku had to make a new plan. One that ensured his safety as well as the two others he was with in the alley.
Thinking fast, he grabbed his grappling hook and sailed to the top of an awning, and dove at the villain, who leapt to the vigilante. Activating the electric wiring in his boots, he smashed his right heel into the villain's left shoulder, shocking the villain for a fraction of a second.
Izuku didn't falter. He grabbed his pistol and proceeded to shoot the vigilante in one of his knees, hoping to stop him.
Stain hissed. One of his legs was slowed, not stopped. His opponent shot to immobilize, not kill. He barely smiled.
He was dealing with an actual professional this time. Good.
He turned to Izuku. "You're good. That shot almost got me."
He scowled when he received no response.
He stood straight, and rushed the vigilante. He was going to win this fight, and kill the two false heroes. The vigilante could live. This time.
"Momo! Tsuyu! Yui! Stop!" The three heroes in training were running non stop in a city that contained endless flames. The four other students struggled to catch up with the worried peers, and looked around in surprise.
"Did you know this was happening?" Kirishima asked. He activated his quirk and slammed his fists in a nomu that leapt at him.
Kyoka used her boots to immobilize a creature in her direction. "No, but we have a chance to kick some ass!"
Shinso smirked. "Oh yeah, Izuku is going to fall in love with you. This confirms it."
"Hey! Watch it buddy!"
Kirishima grinned. "I heard he thinks you're cute."
Kyoka blushed. "Where did you hear that?!"
"How do you know I know?"
"...touche."
"Are we seriously talking about this right now? In a city literally on fire?" The three students quieted at Momo's uncharacteristically irritated remark.
Todoroki stepped forward. "Let's go. My father's agency was located here, so I know the city like the back of my hand."
Yui nodded. "Let's find Izuku."
*bzzt*
The seven students all looked at their phones. "A text from Iida?"
It was a shared location.
In Hosu.
One text: Help
All students ran in the direction of the blip on the map. All eyes forward, legs following Todoroki's.
Something was wrong.
They all arrived at an alley, their eyes frozen on their counselor going toe to toe with a man who exuded a dangerous aura. It wasn't the man who unnerved them. It was the look Izuku held.
It was an intent to kill.
"Everyone, look! It's Iida!" Tsuyu's voice was a mere whisper, but the students heard her all the same. They all looked to the other and nodded, carefully running forward to grab their friend.
A voice caused all but one student to pause.
"NO!"
Like a bullet, a shuriken sliced the side of Tsuyu's outfit, forcing a pained shriek out from her vocal chords.
Then, a second sliced on her leg, causing her to collapse.
The students didn't even see the attacks coming.
Izuku watched as the frog girl fell, fear etched in his eyes. His voice became strained from his own scream, and he didn't even stop to glare at the villain, who grinned at this new development.
True, Stain was the one to throw the weaponized stars, but the real tool was using the new heroes against Quirkless.
Them being his moment of weakness made the moment three times more savory.
Izuku panicked as he bounded to Tsuyu. He tried to scream at the other students to run, but no voice worked its way out.
He was scared. Not for his own life, but for the girl who wanted so hard to be a hero, to rescue others.
The same girl was screaming her lungs out, because a third shuriken was lodged in between her shoulder and her neck. If he looked closely, the weapon was dangerously close to an artery.
It broke him. He immediately covered her with his own body, praying any attack would be spared from this girl's life.
He lost his mother from a villain's attack. He couldn't lose this girl too.
The other students finally moved and hid behind the dumpster, temporarily safe from immediate harm. They watched with widened eyes as the counselor flew over their friends body, each eye filled with tears at her wails.
After a few seconds of waiting, Yui sprinted from the dumpster and to the duo, hoping she could grab them in time.
She ignored the screams of the other students, her eyes locked on the scene in front of her.
Time slowed to a stop when she reached her hand out.
It completely froze when the villain appeared behind Izuku and sunk a katana into his back.
Everything stopped.
All she heard was a muffled scream of the man she fell for.
It hurt her to hear it.
She didn't hear the insane laughter of the villain, nor the muffled cries of her peers.
She couldn't hear her own heartbeat. She couldn't feel anything either. She was numb. Afraid.
Then she felt something alien; it was as hot as burning coals. The cinders of the charcoal fueling an irrequellible anger in her.
Her face contorted to rage, and she screamed. She grabbed a forgotten knife close to her and enlarged it, then sprinted at the madman.
No one expected her to cut through his stomach cleanly and with ease.
Stain didn't even expect it.
Yui watched as the villain slumped to the ground, unconscious. She was somewhat disappointed he didn't die, but she was glad she didn't become a killer herself.
If she was honest with herself, if he was her only kill, she would probably live with it. Probably.
She finally snapped out of the trance her anger set her in, and she stared at her hands. Her eyes wide and filled to the brim with fear, disgust, and mostly shock. She looked over to an unconscious Izuku, who was bleeding badly.
The other students ran over to them, and withered at the sight.
There was a grown man with a knife the size of a machete in his stomach, their counselor with a katana in his back, bleeding profusely, and their unconscious classmate underneath the counselor, placed in a protective hold.
Momo immediately walked to Iida, who finally woke up, and he explained that he was paralyzed the whole time, and it was Izuku who sent the text.
They rounded up those who needed medical attention, and walked with them out to the city, where Shinso and Todoroki ran off to find medics.
The remaining students jumped when they heard Izuku cough, then sit up. He looked to his interns and frowned, anger in his eyes.
"What did I tell you about remaining in my home?" He glared at Momo. "Didn't I tell you you all aren't to follow me?"
"I- I uh- I tried-"
She was promptly cut off by a raised hand. Izuku sighed, and shook his head. "I guess it couldn't be helped." He glared at the other students. "But look! I have an unconscious student who was close to knocking on death's door, a student who might be a killer, and a katana still stuck in me! This could have all been prevented."
The students looked down in shame.
"But…"
The students looked up.
"I could have been gravely injured, or even killed. Stain is no joke." He smiled at Yui. "Thanks to you, he's down. And I'm still here with you all. I think-"
He was cut off by a kiss on his lips.
From Yui.
He paused when she let go, blushing lightly. He blinked. "How long were you waiting to do that?"
Yui giggled, then shrugged..
Kyoka glared at him, earphones twirling. "You have some explaining to do when we get back."
Izuku laughed. "Let's wait for a medic to help remove the katana first. It's starting to hurt."
The students looked at him in surprise. "Ah, Izuku, why hasn't it hurt already?"
Izuku grimaced at the wave of pain. "Shock is one hell of a drug."
"Quirkless!"
They all turned at the voice, who turned out to be a sprinting Todoroki, followed by Shinso, followed by a man dressed in white. The white currently soot grey with blood splotches on it.
Izuku smiled. "And a medic. Just in time." He turned to the arriving professional. "Please tend to Tsuyu here, then me." He smirked at Kirishima. "You up for pulling this thing outta me?"
A hunched figure sat on the ledge of a tall building, overlooking the chaos around him. He wore a slim black sweater and black pants, as well as a lone hand masking his face. His gray hair ruffled in the wind, brushing past his cheeks.
Behind him was an esteemed gentleman made of purple gas. He wore a grey vest with matching pants, and a white shirt, wrapped up with a red tie. His yellow eyes glowed in anticipation, ready for whatever orders were to be voiced.
"Kurogiri," a raspy voice divided the gaseous man's attention. "Let's go. I've seen enough of what the Quirkless' family could do."
Indeed he had. He was by the rooftop next to the vigilante and his "family", watching everything. If his hand was missing, Kurogiri would have seen a smirk.
Shortly before the left, Tomura Shigaraki chuckled. "He will be one of us yet." He looked back at the scene in front of him, scowling when he watched the vigilante laugh. "Be ready, Izuku Midoriya."
The two disappeared into a warp gate, vanishing with the nomu as well.
