Staunchshipping (Honda x Mana x Kisara)

. . .

((look another one I missed on the first pass wheeeee))

. . .

"I think he's funny. And nice. And kinda cool."

"I don't know…I think he's kind of making her uncomfortable."

"Yeah but I think he's smart. He'll get the hint eventually."

"I hope."

"He's prince's friend so he can't be too bad."

"That's true."

"Your boyfriend doesn't seem to like him much though."

"He's…he's not my boyfriend…"

"Oh please, he fawns over your card enough he might as well marry them in this universe. Wish prince would do that with my card."

It was a typical day for the two spirit girls, hanging out in the space between realities while they waited to be called through their cards. Mana peered through the windows to the physical world. Most days she just watched her reincarnated prince and his friend, giggling at the silly things they did and complaining about the dumb things. Kisara didn't always like to look; it hurt a little too much to see her beloved so distant and irritable, unable to make connections with the people around him. Mana always tried to drag her over, though. Tried to show her that things would be okay.

Lately, though, Mana was busy looking at her prince's friends, trying to get Kisara to talk to her about them. Today, her focus was on Hiroto Honda.

Mana sat crosslegged in front of the window, humming to herself as she stared through the crack in reality to the little room on the blimp, where Honda was currently talking to Shizuka.

"He's got a motorcycle," Mana said. "That's really cool. He's kinda cool isn't he?"

Kisara had to smile. She knew what Mana was doing. The Egyptian girl was trying to distract Kisara from worrying over Seto.

"Yes, I guess he is."

"I want to be friends with him. Don't you?"

"It would be nice."

"He doesn't duel a lot though…I don't think I've seen his deck. What do you think he duels with?"

"We could ask around."

"Yeah."

Mana stared at the window, at the image of Hiroto Honda that played across it.

"…I wish I could talk to all of them. And be friends with all of them. With prince and everyone. I wish I could be friends with his friends."

Kisara frowned. She moved silently over to sit beside Mana, placing her hands on Mana's shoulders. They shook slightly.

"Do you think they would want to be friends with me? Do you think Honda would like me too?"

Kisara hugged Mana, buried her face in Mana's hair and matched her breaths to hers.

"He would," she whispered. "He would love to be your friend, too."

Mana closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around Kisara.

She was quiet in her crying.

. . .

Hiroto Honda suddenly felt a breath at the back of his neck. He frowned, rubbing there. Was there a breeze? Here? In the blimp?

He looked over his shoulder, but there was nothing.

"Honda-kun? Is something wrong?" Shizuka asked.

For a moment, Honda thought he could hear the sound of someone crying. Faint, at the back of his head, like the wisp of a dream.

But there was nothing there.

"N-no," he said. "Nothing's wrong."

Something was though…he just wished he knew what.

. . .

A/N: I dunno. These weird unexplainable pairings are starting to just get annoying. Staticshipping (Possessed Jonouchi x Pandora) is next.
