Isobel was standing at the door looking at Elena and I while Jenna was stunned.

"Hello, Elena, Nicole. It's nice to see you again." Isobel said smiling.

"Again?" Jenna asked looking at us.

"I met Isobel when I was away three years ago." I told her while Elena was at a loss for words.

"So you're the woman who's dating my husband. I need to speak to Elena. May I come in?" Isobel asked her. I was about to invite her in when Elena jumped in.

"N-n-no. Don't... don't invite her in." Elena told Jenna.

"I need to talk to you, Elena." Isobel told her. Isobel knew I'd invite her in so she didn't need to convince me.

"No!" Elena said slamming the door in Isobel's face. We looked to Jenna to see her crying.

"You both knew she was still alive? Ric? John? Did they know?" Jenna asked us.

"I can explain everything, Jenna." Elena told her but Jenna wasn't hearing it.

"No." Jenna said going upstairs.

"No. Jenna, please." Elena called after her. "Jenna, please. Wait. Jenna, please wait." I followed them to see Jenna go into her bedroom and slam the door.

"Jenna, you have to talk to us. We... We need to explain what's going on. Jenna, please." I asked her as he heard her cry.

Later Elena and I were down stairs when Ric knocked on the door.

"Hey. Is she up yet?" He asked us.

"She won't come out of her room." I told him.

"What'd you tell her?" he asked again.

"Nothing. She won't talk to us." Elena told him.

"We're gonna have to fix this." Ric said as we saw Jenna come down.

"Hey." Elena said.

"Jenna." Ric tried talking to her when she wouldn't speak to Elena.

"I don't want you here, Ric. You need to go." Jenna told him.

"Ok, listen. I can't begin to imagine what you must be feeling right now." Ric said trying to talk to her.

"Rage and betrayal would pretty much cover it." Jenna told him as she put on her jacket and picked up her bag.

"Where are you going?" I asked her.

"I'm going to stay on campus. I have a thesis to write, and I don't want to be in this house." she said.

"Jenna, please just stop. Let us explain to you exactly what is going on." Ric begged her.

"Elena, Nicole, I need one of you to go to the Lockwood's today and accept the historical society's check for your mom's foundation." Jenna told us ignoring Ric.

"Ok, but, Jenna, please just..." Elena tried talking to her but she wouldn't listen.

"I don't have it in me to hear any more lies from you." Jenna said leaving and closing the door behind her.

"Jenna, just…" Elena tried before the door was closed but it was too late now. John wandered out of the kitchen after she left.

"Let her go. It's better that she's not here, what with everything that's going on but maybe had you been a little more honest with her from the beginning, this..." John never got to finish is sentence since Ric punched him in the face.

"Sorry, Elena. Nicole." Ric apologized to us and left. I looked at John and smiled cuelly at him.

"You know this is your fault, right?" I asked him.

"Right." he agreed.

Elena and I were in her room with Stefan when we heard about Matt.

"Ah, this is bad. Between Isobel and Jenna and now Matt, this is disaster bad." Elena told him.

"Yeah." Stefan agreed when we saw John come into the room.

"Elena, Nicole, can you come downstairs, please? I need to talk to the two of you." he said.

"Heh. We have nothing to say to you." I told him.

"Please. It's important. You, too, Stefan." he said and we followed him downstairs. We saw Isobel come out of the kitchen.

"I asked John for a do-over." Isobel told us and Elena turned to John.

"You invited her in?" Elena asked him.

"She has information about Klaus. Please, just listen to her, ok?" John asked us. Elena looked at Stefan and he sighed.

"All right. What do you know?" Stefan asked her. We followed them into the kitchen and listened to what she had to say.

"Since I was last here, I've been doing everything possible to find Klaus. We knew our best chance was to find him before he could find you two." Isobel told us.

"Best chance at what?" Stefan asked her.

"Keeping Elena and Nicole alive." John told him.

"You don't get to talk, ok, not after everything you've done." I told him.

"Were you able to find Klaus?" Stefan asked her.

"No. Nobody knows where he is but there are these rumors that are flying around. That two doppelgängers exists." Isobel told us.

"Which means any vampire that wants to get in favor with Klaus will be lining up to capture you two." John told us.

"I'm not buying any of this." Elena said looking at Isobel. "The last time that you were here, you made it clear that you didn't give a damn about me. Now all of a sudden I'm supposed to believe that you want to help?"

"Isobel's been helping all along. Klaus has been obsessed with finding Katherine for centuries. All it would take was any one of those 1864 tomb vampires to spread the word around that Katherine was still alive and it would bring him straight here to Mystic Falls, where you were bound to be discovered, so we killed them." John said.

"And almost killed Stefan and Damon in the process." Elena reminded him.

"I have a safe house that I can take you to. The deed is in your names. No vampires can get in without your permission, not even me. Let me help you." Isobel begged us.

"You wanna help? Then get the hell out of my house." Elena told her and I sighed.

"Do you really think that Isobel's telling the truth that word's gotten out about the doppelgänger?" Elena asked as we stood in the library of the Salvatore house.

"Look, I don't trust a word that she says, but I think we'd be stupid to ignore the warning." Stefan told her.

"You know, you should just stay here. It's better for us to keep an eye on you." Damon told us.

"What, in the house that any vampire can enter?" I asked him.

"Nicole's right. Their house is safer." Stefan told him.

"Well, then we'll stay there." Damon told us.

"So is that the plan? Neither of you will let us out of your sight again?" I asked them.

"Let me know when you come up with a better one." Damon said smirking at me.

"Fine. Then one of you 2 bodyguards is gonna have to come with us to the Lockwood luncheon." Elena told them.

"That'd be me." Stefan told us.

"Not me. I have witch stuff to attend to with Bonnie." Damon said.

"Does that mean that you're taking her to the…" I started asked but Damon cut me off.

"Shh" Katherine walked into the room after he stopped me from talking.

"Don't get quiet on my account. If you have a plan to combat the impending vampire doom, please do tell." Katherine said looking at all of us. Elena gave me a look and I kept my mouth shut. "Seriously, what is the plan to get us out of this mess, hmm? I delivered you a moonstone, a werewolf, and the dagger to lure and kill Klaus, and right now all you have is a moonstone. Or so you tell me."

"No, we have it." Damon told her.

"Where is it?" Katherine asked him.

"It's in a very safe place." Damon said.

"I've been honest with you. Time to return the favor." she told us.

"Let me be honest with you. Don't mistake the fact that we haven't set you on fire in your sleep for trust." Damon told her.

"Fine. Be that way." Katherine said leaving.

Care walked up to us as we walked up to the Lockwood mansion.

"Hey. Any luck finding Matt?" Stefan asked her.

"None. What if he tells somebody? What if he tells everybody?" Care said freaking out.

"No, we just gotta find him and make sure that doesn't happen." Stefan said before looking at the two of us. "Do you have any idea where he would be?"

"I wish I did, but he wasn't really one to run." Elena told him and I shook my head at him.

"You know, this wasn't how it was supposed to happen. You know, I was supposed to tell him at the right moment in the right way, and he was supposed to be ok with it because he loves me." Care told us.

"We'll help you find him. We just have to accept this thing for Jenna." I told her.

"All right. Well, call me when you're done, and I'll be out looking for him." Care said before leaving.

"Maybe he'll come around. You did." I told Elena.

We all sat in one room as Carol talked to us.

"And here to accept the donation to the Miranda Sommers-Gilbert scholarship fund is Elena and Nicole Gilbert." I smiled as Elena and I joined Carol and accepted the check.

"The historical society was my mom's baby. She considered all of you family and would be honored and touched by this gift." Elena told them when we heard a noise. Everyone rushed to see what happened but Elena and I never made it. Someone put their hand over my mouth and knocked me out.

When I woke up I heard Isobel on the phone with someone.

"I had to do what I was told. He wanted the moonstone and he wanted you." Isobel said hanging up on whoever it was she was talking to.

Isobel pulled up at Grove Hill Cemetery and parked the car, getting out.

"Just because you can't be compelled doesn't mean I can't force you to come with me." Isobel called to us. Elena and I got out of the car and followed her.

"So is that what happened? You were compelled to betray Katherine?" I asked her.

"If I was, I couldn't tell you." she told me and I knew the answer.

"So you lied. You did find Klaus, didn't you? He knows where we am now. Are you taking us to him?" Elena asked her when we stopped in front of a headstone. "What is this?"

"My parents, your grandparents, they put it here when it became clear that the police weren't gonna find my body. They visit every week, and they bring flowers, even though there's no one buried here. The Isobel they knew is dead. So maybe there's a part of me that's buried here, the-the human part, the part that I abandoned when I-when I choose to become a vampire, the part that used to dream about the day that she'd know her daughters." she told us.

"What?" I asked her and she shrugged at me.

"And instead you got to meet the other part... The part that would betray her own flesh and blood." she said as her phone rang. "Yes. Let them go? I'm done?" she then hung up the phone and looked back at the grave.

"Who was that?" I asked her.

"I'm so sorry, Elena, Nicole... That I was such a disappointment to you two." she told us.

"You're not." I told her. She ripped off her necklace and screamed as she burned on her grave.

Elena and I were sitting in the Salvatore house after Stefan and Damon had come to get us. I had added Isobel's necklace to the chain that held my lockets.

"Is that Isobel's?" I looked up to see Stefan joining us in the room.

"I never thought I would feel bad about her being dead, and yet..." Elena broke off, not able to continue talking.

"She was our mother." I reminded her.

"Why did they let us go?" Elena asked.

"Well, anything John told Isobel, we have to assume that Klaus knows, right? So he knows that you're not gonna turn yourself into a vampire. He knows that you have us keeping you safe." Stefan told her.

"And he knows we're not gonna run." I told her as Damon walked up behind his brother.

"Which is why we need to take some precautions, 'cause we got played, all of us." Damon said giving me some papers.

"What's this?" I asked him.

"It's the deed to our house. It's in Zach's name. As soon as you and your sister sign it, it'll be in your names." Stefan told us.

"You're giving us your house?" Elena asked them.

"Isobel had the right idea with the safe house. You'll just stay here till it's all over. That way, you can control who gets invited and who doesn't." Stefan said.

"Although I'll be super pissed if you lock me out." Damon told us smirking. John then woke up with a gasp of breath.

"I swear I had no idea what she was gonna do. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." John said looking at all of us.

"Damon, let him go. The three of us need to talk." Elena told him. The brothers left the three of us alone and we sat down to talk.

"I always knew that she and Katherine were close, but I never realized that Isobel and her were working against me. Two of the world's most uncaring and selfish vampires, and yet they were genuinely friends." John said surprised.

"If that's what you thought of her, why did you ever put your trust in her at all?" I asked him.

"Because I was there when she gave birth to you and Elena. I saw how heartbroken she was to give you up. And because she was the first girl I ever loved, and when she said she'd help keep you two safe... I believed her. At this point, I will do whatever you two want me to do. If you feel safer with me not around, then I'll go." John told us. I looked at Elena and she glanced at me and we didn't answer him. He got up looking sad at the two of us.

"You screw up everything, John. Everything you touch just falls apart. But you're the only parent we have left so maybe we can learn not to hate you." Elena said looking up at him.

"Okay." he said smiling at us.
