~Day Twenty~

Leo jump up and down. Even after a nice sleep, a whole day, and his lower half is still sore. It aches when he sits down. And his legs are wobbly that he feels like he might fall. Leo take a few steps forward. The sudden urge of laying down flow through Leo's mind.

"Are you okay Leo?" Jason calls after him. He was already up ahead from the mansion. How is he walking so normal? How is he even standing? "You're walking like a penguin. Do you need help?"

Jason walks back. "Nah. I'm fine. Trying to see if my legs have any feelings." Jason grab Leo's hand. Instead of the cold from outside, he feels heat burning his face. Leo stutter over his words.

Jason laughs. "Since you don't need help from walking, I'll just hold hands with you." They continue. The only sound coming from the crunch of the snow as they walk. Soon they reach the wall.

Jason swipe the frost off the wall. Feeling it until his hand hooks on a dent. Leo watch as Jason push the wall back then slide it to the right. A sliding door that camouflage to the wall.

"I used to have guards for the first year here. They left when it started to get colder. The snow didn't stop." Jason pull Leo inside and up the stairs. "It got so cold, one of the guards froze in place up here. He's fine but I felt bad. Only here for a year and I had to send everyone back home."

Leo tilt his head. "You were a kid. Who took care of you?"

"A caretaker." Jason grin back to Leo.

"Was that a pun?" He only shrug. Leo laughs. "Did you really have a caretaker?"

"Yes. She was gone when I turned thirteen. She only cook meals for me." They reach the top. Jason let go of Leo to push on the ceiling. He bangs on it. No luck. The ceiling doesn't look like it can open up. "Damn it. The snow must be thick up there." Jason pull his gloves off. "Step back Leo."

Leo take a few steps down the steps. Jason place his bare hands on the ceiling. There's a groan from the wood then a puff. As of something poof away. Jason push the ceiling up. The cloudy sky is shown. Jason reach down for Leo.

They're on top of the tower. Leo can see the manor perfectly clear. Spread out from east to west, two-stories. There's a wide space from front and back. Leo never notice, but there is a stable on the right side of the manor. It is also empty. Everything cover in snow.

"Leo, look." Leo turn to Jason. Jason is pointing on the other side of the wall to a family of deer. Leo walk closer to the edge, baffle at the sight. A brown spot on the white background. He can see the baby attach to the mama. "Have you ever seen deers?" Each of them have footprints in the snow.

Jason stands next to Leo. "No. It's too hot at my kingdom for deer to live in. Maybe a little up northern but not the castle." Leo look at Jason. A dazzling smile spread on the forge prince. "This is a amazing sight." Over them, Leo can see the clouds part.

The sun shine on Jason. Leo can't help to think that Jason looks radiate under the light with a smile on his face. Leo tip-toe to kiss his prince. He feels cold but warm at the same time. Is this how it feels like? To find the one?

"We can," Jason clear his throat, "continue walking down the wall. If you want to. We can take breaks in the watchtower if you feel cold."

Leo nods. "You know the cold don't bother me." Ice prince rolls his eyes. He got sick because of the cold. As long he keep his sweaters and cloak on, Leo will be fine.

They hold hands. Leo point out different shapes in the clouds as they part away. Jason can finally see the blue in the sky. Kind-of feel the warmth from the sun. Or maybe that is coming from Leo. Either or is okay. Leo soon drifted to talking about the people in his kingdom.

How they are very lively. Hard working as well being stubborn. They enjoy partying. Loving each other companions. Jason find it helpful to know the people. He only got political lessons from his father and Hephaestus. He's not sure how he is going to act in front of other due to him isolating himself. It's been ten years.

Jason sees Leo shiver. Leo ignore the fact he did. It took an hour for Leo to shiver. He made Leo turn around to the watchtower they just walk by. They walked by three but this one is the closest. Jason had to break down the door since it was stuck. "Come on, Mr. Cold-Not-Bother-Me."

Leo laughs. Another set of stairs up. Not long as the wall. There is only a sofa in front of a fireplace. A desk with a few boxes next to it at the other end of the sofa. Jason bends down to the fireplace. Leo walk up to the window, looking out to snow cover land.

"Who made the wall appear and disappear?" Leo see a rabbit. A bit hard since it haves white fur. A moving floor is not hard to miss. He leans a bit closer, wanting to see more.

"The Casters. They did the spell after the guards left." Jason got the fire going. He quickly step away from the heat. "Safety of course."

"Jason." Leo turn. They lock eyes. "My mind keep going to the baby deer and it's mama. What if I'm pregnant? It's highly possible but also highly impossible."

Jason licks his lips. Leo always see that this is a sensitive subject. "It means we are one step closer to having frost babies. Aren't you happy about that?" Leo shrug. "Either way, our wedding night isn't going to be much different. Our families are going to make sure we have a heir."

Leo laughs. He takes a few steps to Jasons. "That's true. Dad always wants to see a grandkid before he dies. Nyssa demands-" Leo's foot go through the wooden floor. He yelp. His whole leg goes through.

Jason is by his side. "Holy- are you okay?" He starts breaking the boards. It's tough. Leo slowly pull his leg. The boards tears his pants and scrape his leg. Curses escape Leo's mouth. "Shit. You step on dead wood but the rest is very much alive. I knew I should have check these watchtowers."

Leo lean on Jason. "Okay. Fuck." There is no footing underneath. It's going to hurt. No choice. "Hold still Jason." Blue lightning eyes look up to him. Leo breathe in.

The leg goes up. Blood flow down. Jeans rip by wood. His knee was an inch away from hitting Jason's face. Leo falls. Then he laughs to forget the pain as Jason look at his leg.

"Hold on. I think there's first-aid somewhere here. I have to find it." Jason stands up. "One of the bo-"

Crack!

Leo and Jason look at each other. Leo spoke, "What was that?" They listen again. Nothing.

"Maybe a tree," Jason says. He's not even sure. Could be anything. "No. Leo. Stay sitting down."

Leo push himself up. "Jason. I am bleeding and the pain hurts, so I'm going to sit on that old sofa and enjoy the fire. Got it?" A nod is receive. Leo smiles. "Thank you."

"At less let me help you." Jason softly take Leo's waist and Leo wraps his arm over Jason's shoulder. Blood form a puddle at their feet. "That's too much blood. Why are you bleeding so much? I didn't see any serious cuts."

"I think I have a deep one behind my thigh. It's warmer there. And a bit painful." Jason take a foot forward. Leo breathe. Shaking his injure leg forward. He starts laughing to ease the pain off.

Leo drop. Jason slip on his knees. The front half of the watchtower collapse sending Leo into a nine meters fall. "LEO!" Jason reach for him. Gloveless and scare, a shot of ice frost spread outwards. Jason blink from the cold wave.

Leo feels light. Maybe it's the blood loss or the falling, but it's light. He doesn't have time to process that he is falling. He does hear Jason screaming. Something cold hit him on the chest and it's light. No time to process of him falling. It happen so fast. He gasp as his body hit the floorboards.

He was expecting soft white snow, not the remains of the wall. Everything goes black.
