Author's Note: Sorry for the delay, but I had some IRL issues that affected all of my projects, which sucked. But it's finally here!
So, hope you all enjoy. :)
Well, thanks to Salem, Cinder now had a fuck-ton of money, and as expected, Raven was trying to convince her to be a tad irrational about it.
What would you wanna spend the money on the most?
That was... a difficult question to say the least. It had been quite a long time since she had more than a little bit of spending money. Hell, the most expensive thing Cinder had bought in the past half-year was a flat-screen television for the bedroom, and even that was split with Raven, as their first real purchase together as a couple. So... aside from something that the pair might need, like a new kitchen table and chairs set, or perhaps a better microwave, she really had no idea what she could buy.
And then Raven gave her an idea.
The crimson-red sports car purred beneath Cinder's hands as she shifted into gear, pulling out of the dealership with a healthy pump of the accelerator, the freshly-serviced engine letting out a notable growl. She took a deep breath of the interior's chemical scent and grinned.
Cinder had waited years for this. In fact, she had fantasized and planned for years about getting the car that she was currently driving through the streets of Vale, but of course up until recently, that dream had been impossible due to her post-fire financial situation. But now Cinder had the money, so she decided to use it for something that she truly wanted. The actual purchase took nearly two hours to negotiate, and by then, she was able to knock the price down by fifteen percent, extend its warranty, and get the inbuilt computer upgraded when the new hardware came out, free of charge. Cinder paid two-hundred thousand lien for the vehicle, and she was going to get all its worth.
"Gods damn I'm already lovin' this car. Thank you, Salem." Raven praised, comfortably reclining back in her seat with a satisfied groan. "Y'know, I'm no masochist, but fuck, I'd definitely let her step on me." She added, earning a quirked brow from her partner. Now that was certainly a new side of the older woman. Then Raven paused for a moment, seemingly realizing something. "Wait, is that how you saw me before we started dating? Fuckin' hell."
Cinder could not help but let out a chuckle. "Yes, well, unfortunately Salem has been married for almost the entire time that I have known her, and I don't believe that she's even into women." At least, as far as she knew...
"Such a shame." Raven commented, now eyeing her driving girlfriend with a sly smirk. "Say, you wanna... pull over somewhere quiet and have a little fun?" She wondered, reaching over to run a hand up the younger woman's leg.
"Absolutely not." Cinder immediately declared. There was not way in hell that she was going to let her brand-new car be dirtied by sex. especially on the day she bought it. "The new car smell will remain for at least three months. So that means no eating, no fucking, and no expulsion of gasses."
Raven merely smiled, remaining completely silent.
What did she... Oh for fuck sake. Cinder grimaced. "You're disgusting."
Raven just grinned. "And you're the one who asked me out in the first place, so guess what, I'm yours."
As gross as what her girlfriend just did in her new car was, Cinder briefly looked over at the older woman and smiled, reaching over to take her hand. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
And so, the pair just... drove for a while, until they eventually ended up near the waterfront, looking over the vast, sparkling ocean, and the clusters of houses, condos and apartments that lined the coast. It was... beautiful. Cinder had originally wanted to move into a place on the water with Emerald one day. A nice, quiet home with a view, something to strive for. They could wake up each morning and watch the sun rise over the horizon... Of course that never came to be... but she had the money for one now...
"What up?" Came Raven's voice from next to the younger woman.
Cinder merely pointed at the nearby condo complex. The display house appeared to be open, and she was curious.
"You wanna go take a look?" Raven wondered, to which Cinder nodded. "Then let's go."
And that was exactly what the couple did. It was the middle of the day, Yang was looking after the bar, and they had no other plans. So, they parked in front of the display house, went inside, and took a look around. Two bedrooms, two walk in closets for the master, two bathrooms, a fairly large great room attached to a kitchen and dining area, and an L-balcony facing the ocean. Though, stark white walls, hardwood floors, plain interior... Overall, it was beautiful, but quite generic without any furniture or colour. The realtor was likely expecting to sell to rich people to use as holiday homes, and to have the money to customize it to their hearts desire.
"So, what do you think? Pretty nice place, huh?" Raven inquired as the pair exited the condo and re-entered the younger woman's new car.
"I... don't know, honestly." Cinder admitted, while the two sat there in the parked vehicle. "Ever since that damn trial, I've worked so fucking hard to pull myself back together, and without you, and Nora, and Yang... that wouldn't have been possible, but right now... I'm just feeling... lost. I suddenly have so many options in front of me, and I don't know what to do..." Then she reached over to take hold of her partner's hand. "Can you help me choose?"
Raven remained quiet for a moment, glancing back at the display house. "Well, I could always use a change in scenery if you're up for it."
Cinder just blinked, a bit shocked that her girlfriend was deciding so easily, especially given how she had lived above the bar for so many years. Although, perhaps that might be why she choosing that option. "Are you sure?"
Raven merely smiled, then nodded. "I'd go anywhere with you, Cin."
Now that made Cinder almost want to cry. She could not help but smile, before leaning forward to meet the older woman in a loving kiss. Of course, while the idea of moving into a condo like the one in front of them was great, there was one issue. "What would we do with the current apartment?" Cinder wondered. The rent might be a slight issue, given how it was just part of the building's lease, but they could probably work around that.
Raven was quiet, seemingly considering a few possible options. "How 'bout offering it to Yang and Weiss?" She suggested with a shrug. "I'm sure they'd like havin' two bedrooms since they've got that mute pipsqueak livin' with 'em."
That... could actually work.
Vernal was not the dating type. One-night stands were pretty much always the norm for her, so the prospect left her baffled. How the hell was she supposed to function on one?
The closest thing to a date that she had been on in the past... ever, was having Weiss drag her out to go shopping for clothes, or go out for lunch somewhere. It was never anything formal, or anything that showed that they were anything more than roommates with benefits. Another reminder that Vernal took that relationship - if one could even call it that - for granted. Hell, she took Weiss for granted, and for some unknown reason, Nora wanted to give her a chance. Vernal really had no clue why the redhead would even bother. Sure, She might be half-decent in the bedroom, but that was it.
Of course, it was a little late to be wondering why, considering days had passed since she was asked out, and they were already out on their date. Their first of many, as Nora put it. The pair just came from a burger joint, and were now walking through the nearby park, looking for a place to sit. They had only been out for a little over an hour, and Nora was really not holding back with how lovey dovey she could be. Vernal found it incredibly embarrassing, and gods damn flustering, with all those hugs, kisses, hand-holding... but she was assured over and over that she was getting the girlfriend experience, even though this was only their first date.
Though as expected, Nora could sense her discomfort with the whole situation. "Hey, you okay?" She inquired as the pair, hand-in-hand, found an empty bench, shaded by a large tree. "'Cause we can go back to your place and hang out if you want." Then Nora smirked as they set down their bags of food. "Or maybe find a discrete place to have a little fun?"
Vernal shook her head, managing a slight smile. "No no, I'm good. This is... weird, but it's not bad or anything. I uh, I'm having a good time."
Nora just smiled. "Me too, but I don't mind if you wanna go somewhere a little more private." Then she leaned over, lowering her voice. "I even borrowed your strap-on. It's in my purse."
Vernal's eyes widened. "You what?"
Nora was silent for a moment, but quickly burst into laughter. "Kidding!" She promised, before suddenly stopping, and quirking a brow. "Or am I?" She wondered. Then she chuckled again. "Okay I am." To which Vernal merely rolled her eyes, finally released the redhead's hand, and begun unpacking her burger, onion rings, and soda. "Oh, so I never asked, how's being back at work going for ya?"
Ceasing her unpacking, Vernal shrugged. "Fine I guess. Some shifts are crap, but Cinder, Qrow, and Rae have been great."
"And what about Yang?" Nora asked, taking out her own food and drink.
"What about her?" Vernal questioned, not exactly wanting to talk about that subject, particularly not during what was supposed to be an enjoyable afternoon.
"How've things been between you two?" Nora continued, munching on a few fries.
Vernal only shrugged again. "I dunno, we never really clicked in the first place, but ever since... since Weiss left, it's only gotten worse."
Nora was quiet for a few moments, before humming. "Worse for her, or worse for you?"
"What do you think?" Vernal almost snapped.
Nora just looked at her date with a skeptical expression. "C'mon, you can do better than that."
Vernal let out a heavy sigh. "Fine, it's worse for me. Sometimes I can barely stand to be in the same fuckin' room as her. It's just another reminder of what happened."
Nora shifted a little closer, laying a hand on the other woman's thigh. "It's okay to feel that way, you know that right?"
Vernal sadly nodded. "Yeah I know, I just... dunno what to do about it."
Nora tried to offer a reassuring smile as she ate a couple more fries. "I get that, but what do you think you should do about it?"
Vernal merely shrugged. "Hell if I know."
Taking her burger out of its bag, Nora took an exceptionally large bite out of it, as she did with most other food, mostly pancakes. "Well, think about it." She suggested with a warm smile. "And hey, if all else fails, you could always bang out your problems!"
Vernal immediately furrowed her brow. Did she hear that right? "Don't you mean talk out our problems?"
Nora only grinned. "Nope!"
Vernal just stared at her date for several moments, baffled at such a suggestion. "I can't tell if you're serious or not."
As expected, Nora giggled, which only made that uncertainty worse. "Let's say I was, and you were given the chance to do a little clam jammin' with Yang, would you do it?"
That... was a difficult question. Between the what happened with Weiss, how attractive Vernal honestly found the blonde, and that... weird bond that they shared, there was a lot of shit to juggle in her mind. Although... "Straight up, if it was just fucking with no catches, yeah I'd fuck Yang. She's hot as shit, great tits, nice ass, definitely seems like she'd put up as much a fight as you do... probably." Vernal admitted, unable to stop a slight, stupid blush from tinting her cheeks at that last part, which Nora grinned at. "But things are complicated as fuck, like a damn hornets nest. We're kinda family, but I never really treated Yang right, even when she was nothin' but nice to me..." Then Vernal let out a heavy sigh. "Now she hates my guts, and is probably already shacked up with Weiss, livin' happily every after."
Nora was quiet for a few moments, which was not exactly comforting. "She doesn't hate you, Vernal, but yeah, they're together now. I talk to Yang a lot, it's been good for her. She's been glowing every time I visit the bar to see her."
Vernal's shoulders slumped at the clarification. "Oh... yeah... figures..." She mumbled, suddenly not having an appetite. "Those two always seemed a better fit anyway..." She had not wanted to admit it, but she was always afraid of it. Yang was so much nicer to Weiss, if she was going to leave her for anyone, the blonde made too much sense. Vernal expected it to happen sooner or later, but she did not want it to be true. "Hell, I still don't even know why you like me. Yang would probably be a better fit for you too."
Nora just shrugged. "It's not about good or bad fits, Vernal, not everyone meshes together all neat like. Sometimes people poke each other in the eye, and that's okay. Sharp edges make us human." She assured, munching on more of her fries.
"Still doesn't explain why anyone would bother with me. I'm all sharp edges." Vernal sighed. "Why did you even wanna go out with me? Or shit, even agree to fuck me more than once? You could've just taken my money and left it at that. Why're you going through all this damn trouble just for someone like me, when I'm not worth any of it..."
Rather than saying anything, Nora merely shifted closer to her date, putting her food back onto its bag, and reaching over to take Vernal's hand in her own. "You are worth a hell of a lot more than you're givin' yourself credit for." She promised, bringing the other woman's hand up to her face, where she planted a soft kiss on it, before holding it close to her chest. "Neither of us are perfect, but I like being imperfect with you."
With one gods damn sentence, Vernal could feel tears beginning to pool in her eyes, in public no less. Fucking hell. Sniffling, she quickly tried to wipe the tears away before they were noticed, but the attempt was likely a failed one. "You think you could... be imperfect with me tonight?"
Nora appeared shocked for a moment, but soon brightly smiled, ear to ear. Reaching up to gently take hold of her date's face, she leaned forward and met her in a slow, loving kiss, one that Vernal fully reciprocated by instinct. Upon pulling back, Nora whispered a single word.
"Absolutely."
Now that Cinder had herself a brand new car, it was about time she got her amazing partner one as well. Unfortunately, due to said partner's stubborn nature, it was going to take some negotiation.
"The Landroamer four-hundred is the new generation in a long line of legends. Like those before it, it can take on any path, rain or shine." Cinder read from the magazine currently in her hands. One that she had spotted Raven drooling over several times in the past. She hoped that she could use it to tempt the older woman. "With up to seven seats, and full-time four-wheel drive, this is the strongest, safest, smartest, and most luxurious Landroamer out there."
As she poured out two glasses of wine, Raven glanced over from the kitchen, furrowing her brow at her girlfriend, who was sitting comfortably on their still-new futon couch. She opened her mouth to respond, likely to ask what Cinder was talking about, but soon noticed the magazine in her hands, clearly understanding what was going on. "Sounds like someone wants her wine dumped down the drain."
While Cinder would much rather have that wine in her hand, she smirked. "Sounds like mommy wants me to buy her a nice, bright-pink smart car."
Raven just rolled her eyes, re-corking the open wine bottle, and picking up the two glasses. "I mean sure, if you wanna be sleepin' alone on the couch for a month." She warned, walking into the living area, sitting down next to her girlfriend, and handing her a filled glass, which she took a sip from. "Plus, I've already got a perfectly functional car. Sure, it's a little old, but it works fine."
Cinder merely eyed her partner with a skeptical gaze. "For now."
Raven quirked a brow. "Oh for now?" She scoffed after a sip of wine. "So when I start breaking down-"
"That's not the same thing and you know it." Cinder chastised, slapping her girlfriend's thigh with the magazine for emphasis. Then her expression became more serious. "But Rave, that car is almost fifteen years old, and it was already fairly cheap when you bought it, which means it could go at any time. Please let me buy you a new car. It doesn't have to be expensive, just... something current-year."
Raven was quiet for a few moments, hopefully considering the offer. "You're not gonna let this go, are you?"
Cinder simply shook her head. "Not until you agree."
A brief silence followed, before Raven let out a sigh. "How 'bout this, we go for a look around the car yards, and if something jumps out at me that's more reasonably priced, maybe I'll consider it. If nothing does, then we'll go take that one for a test drive." Then she smirked. "But in the meantime, c'mere. Mama wants some cuddles."
Well, I guess that's something. Cinder grinned in response, unable to stop herself from pumping her first in the air, like a child, happy that Raven was at least partially agreeing. "Yes." She celebrated, shifting over to lean against her partner, who quickly wrapped an arm around her shoulders, and leaned down to meet her in a soft kiss.
Upon separating, Raven hummed through a grin of her own. "Maybe we should save the wine for later..." She purred, taking her girlfriend's glass and leaning forward to put it, along with her own, onto the coffee table. After that, she sat back, before reaching around to grab Cinder's woman's farther thigh, and physically lifted the younger woman to straddle her lap. "Now stop trying to spoil everyone."
Cinder was just laughing gleefully all the while, enjoying every moment of when Raven showed off her strength, especially when it came during bedroom activities. Once settled, she wasted no time getting right into business. "I suppose you will have to make me." Cinder shot, leaning forward to capture her partner's lips in a heated kiss, which caused her to receive a firm smack on the rear, eliciting a muffled gasp.
As usual, they had an exceptionally fun night.
The next day, the couple decided to take the afternoon off, putting Yang in charge again so that they could go look at cars. Like the two had discussed the prior evening, they started off at a couple used car lots. They spent some time walking around, but the older woman did not find anything she liked, as Cinder somewhat expected. She knew what Raven truly wanted. So after a while, the pair headed over to the nearest car dealership that sold Landroamers.
While it certainly took some convincing for Raven to sell her soon-to-be old car, given how she had owned it for such a long time, Cinder eventually got her to pull the trigger, as little as she would get for it. Then, she wanted to keep the new car as modest as the younger woman would allow, settling for a nice, high-end Landroamer, coming in at around fifty-thousand Lien. It was something that the pair could throw some bags in and fuck off for a while if they really felt the need. In truth, Raven never really liked the city. It was too loud, a bit smelly in certain places, and held bad memories. Sometimes she wanted to just leave and never come back, but she had a life there. They had a life there. Although, the older woman actually brought up the idea of going on a short camping trip sometime soon, to make love under the stars. How romantic.
"So, any clue what else you're gonna do with all that money?" Suddenly came Raven's voice, pulling her girlfriend from her thoughts as they drove through town. "Could invest it, gift it, I dunno. Never had that much dough before."
Of course, Cinder had no clue what she was going to do with it long term, but she knew exactly where to start. "I want to give an amount to Nora, though I'm unsure of how much I could give her without it being refused." She admitted. "I thought about helping her to move to a new apartment, but I know for a fact that she would fight me every step of the way." That woman is too nice for her own good.
"Could always just give her a pile of cash and tell her to deal with it." Raven suggested with a shrug, slowing the car and turning onto a side road. "Or send it anonymously."
Cinder considered those options. Anonymously could possibly work, but she got the strong feeling that even then, the redhead would find a way to reject it, or simply give it away. Damnit, why does she have to be so nice?
Then Raven hummed, as if she had thought of something. "Well, if she's anything like Summer, charity's her weakness." She informed. "Tell her you'll match whatever you give her, dollar for dollar."
That... was actually a pretty solid idea. Now the only question was how much to give. "Do you think Nora would accept one-hundred thousand?" Possibly too much, but it was better to start high, because gods knew that the redhead deserved it.
Raven shrugged. "I wanna say yes, but even knowing her as little as I do, probably not."
Damnit. "Perhaps fifty-thousand then. Enough for her to live comfortably without worrying about rent for a quite a while, as well as purchase a cheap new car if she wants." Cinder decided. "Of course, along with the promise that I will donate another fifty-thousand to any charities that she chooses, in her name." That, and a promise back that if Nora ever needed anything, she would ask Cinder. Then a realization hit her. "What about Yang and Weiss? Is there anything they might need?"
Raven was silent for a brief time as she continued driving. "Well, if they end up takin' our current place, they'll probably need some extra furniture. Guest room stuff, extra couch, bigger kitchen table, that kinda stuff." Then she snickered. "Maybe some cooking lessons for Weiss, and a proper bed for that Neo gal, 'cause I heard she's been sleepin' on their couch for a while."
Cinder just rolled her eye. "She can sleep on the floor." She scoffed.
"C'mon, Cin, I know there's some pretty bad blood between you two, but Yang's told us that she's pretty different than whatever she was before." Raven attempted to assure, but it fell on deaf ears.
"So she says. I'll believe it when I see it." Cinder grumbled, glancing out the car window, watching the passing trees.
"Still deserves a bed." Raven defended.
"Then it will be up to Yang's discretion." Cinder declared, having no real interest in helping that woman she had to call an ex. Honestly, she just wanted to do right by her family, after they had treated her so kindly over their time together.
"Could always get her a water bed." Raven suggested with a slight smirk. "Those things are weird as shit."
Cinder merely glanced over at her girlfriend, raising her brow. "So when it leaks it soaks into the bar? No thank you, dear. Water damage is expensive."
Raven was silent for a few moments. "Shit. Good point."
Cinder rolled her eye. "Knowing Neo, she'll be sharing their bed before long."
Raven immediately quirked a brow. "Oh yeah? How do you figure?"
Cinder leveled a skeptical gaze at her partner. "She's hornier than you, Rave."
Raven was quiet for a moment, likely wondering how that could be possible. After all, she- hell, they both had quite a bit of trouble keeping their hands off of each other sometimes. "Well, I'd imagine sleeping one room away from an active couple while single would be pretty shitty, but last time I checked, those two are pretty monogamous."
For now. "Monogamy lasts as long as the heart is content." Cinder commented.
"You sayin' I'm eventually gonna have a second daughter-in-law to deal with?" Raven groaned, clearly not liking the idea. Though in her defense, she had done a great job with Weiss.
"Oh Rave, with your looks, don't be surprised if Yang attracts a third." Cinder teased, smirking over at her partner.
"Like she almost did with you?" Raven shot right back with a smirk of her own.
Luckily, Cinder was prepared for such a retort. "Exactly. Though fortunately for you, she wasn't the one I was in love with."
Reaching over to take hold of the younger woman's hand, Raven smiled, but not for long, as it quickly shifted into a grin. "That's right, and now you're a mother fucker."
Well, that was certainly an interesting way to put it. "Hmm, talk dirty to me." Cinder purred.
Raven's grin only grew at her girlfriend's response. "Alright, when do you wanna break this baby in then? 'Cause I've been cravin' you all afternoon."
Cinder raised her brow. "But what about the new car smell?" She wondered. That was always one of the best parts about purchasing a new vehicle.
"Fuck the new car smell." Raven declared, briefly glancing over to smirk at her partner.
Narrowing her eye, Cinder glanced around the fairly spacious vehicle, and a realization hit her. One that really should have hours ago. "Did you get such a large car just so we can have sex in it?"
Raven was dead silent for a moment. "No."
Cinder merely kept her eye narrowed at the older woman.
"It's a multipurpose vehicle! We can also sleep in it after sex." Raven attempted to defend, which was only met with a skeptical gaze. "And I may or may not have one of your favourite toys in my purse."
Cinder's eye immediately widened, before she looked back at her girlfriend's purse, which was currently in the backseat. "You do not."
Raven raised a hand. "Maidens as my witness."
Cinder turned back to skeptically look at her partner. "You were planning on us having sex no matter what car we bought, weren't you?"
Raven simply shrugged. "My car, my rules, babe."
Cinder just let out an amused sigh, rolling her eye as a smile spread across her face. "I suppose I can just buy you some air fresheners later."
Raven chuckled. "You can buy me whatever you want if you do a little somethin' for me."
Cinder quirked her brow. "And what might that be?"
Raven was quiet for several moments, simply looking forward at the road ahead. Then she cleared her throat. "Well, don't feel like you've gotta say yes, but I uh, I want you to take that strap-on from my purse and... y'know, have your way with me."
Cinder blinked, staring at her driving girlfriend in disbelief. "You want me to use it on you?"
Raven nodded, briefly glancing over at the younger woman with an awkward smile. "Yeah, I've... sorta had this other fantasy on my mind for a while, where... you're the one dommin' me." She managed, to which her partner's eye widened. "Don't get me wrong, I love bein' the bigger one in the relationship, but I kinda miss gettin' tossed around sometimes, Tai was good at that. So, if you're up for it, I want you to wear the toy this time, and just... go to town on me."
Cinder was at a bit of a loss. Raven... wanted her to be the dominant one for a session? That was certainly unexpected, given how much that role suited the older woman, and how incredibly well she used that strap-on. Boy, to be the person using that toy would be new. Although, that would mean that Cinder would be able to do anything she wanted to her partner... She had already fantasized about being on the other side of some of their usual positions... Gods, she was already starting to get excited.
"So long as you can find us a nice, quiet spot for us."
"Now don't you go thinkin' we forgot about what you did yesterday. We're still gonna talk about that when we get home."
Neo merely tooted her little horn with a sly grin from her usual spot on the couch. Gods, Weiss and Yang were already regretting giving her that thing. She had been giving them both theme music by getting real creative, using it to wake them both up if they slept past a certain time, and even playing little bits of music when they were making love, which at times was incredibly distracting, especially when she did it right up against their damn door. The couple was incredibly glad that their friend was slowly but surely recovering, but she could really be a little shit sometimes.
"That sounds like someone doesn't want hugs before we go." Weiss teased as she slipped on her shoes, flashing a smirk over at the mute. They had to learn to dish out little punishments for when Neo went a bit too far. For example, there was one instance where she decided to sneak into the couple's bedroom while they were still sleeping, thinking that it would be funny to use her horn to wake them up at close range once it was past eleven AM. Of course, it scared that absolute shit out of them, and Neo was promptly kicked out by a still-naked Yang, which was quite amusing to watch. Their guest received no pancakes that morning.
Neo just pouted at the threat, hopping up off the couch, approaching the pair, and awkwardly spreading her arms. Deciding to be nice, Weiss and Yang each gave the older woman a hug, telling her that there were leftovers in the fridge, and that they would be back later, before heading off to something a little unbelievable: their very first double date, with Winter and Robyn.
Although, now that Weiss thought about it, there were a number of things that had happened over the last couple weeks that were, at the very least, out of the ordinary. For one, she and Yang did another couple rounds modelling for Coco, one of which was of the not-safe-for-work variety. They were both fun, though with the latter, the trio kept it far more tame than the first time, partially because they all agreed that things had gone a little too far. In all honesty, while Weiss remained fairly well composed during that afternoon, her mind had been going absolutely nuts the entire time, unable to believe or really comprehend that they were not only nude, but doing such private things in front of their friend. Though even so, she was glad that they started modelling for Coco, because while she still hated her body, having the brunette think enough of it to use it for her art made her feel a little better.
Another strange thing that happened last week was Weiss finally obtained her own mode of transportation, AKA, she finally accepted Ruby's offer to take her old scooter. It was certainly not anything top of the line, not by a long shot, but it was a generous gift from a cherished family member, and it worked just find. Yang made absolutely sure of that, insisting on taking an extensive look at it and making sure it was still roadworthy, since it had been in the their father's garage for... a number of years now. In fact, she did not let Weiss touch it until she was completely certain that the vehicle was one-hundred percent safe to ride. So now, she had her own scooter, which her girlfriend decided to name Stardust, all because she told her about her childhood tricycle of the same name.
Weiss had also been spending more time with Summer, properly learning how to cook from the master. If she was being honest, she had not spent enough time with her sort-of adoptive mother as a whole when she was with Vernal, and wanted to make up for all of those missed opportunities. Meanwhile, Yang was taking the lead on assisting Neo with her recovery, helping her through her panic attacks - which had thankfully been lessening in frequency - going out on walks with her, and just... being with her when she needed a friend.
Fast forward to more recently, and Weiss received a call from her sister, saying that she was coming to visit for a few days, and was wondering if she and Yang would like to join them for a dinner double-date. It was certainly a shock to say the least, but a welcome one, which was quickly, and excitedly accepted. Neo expressed interest in coming as well, likely to get another opportunity to stare at Winter, but since the invitation was for Weiss and Yang as a couple, the former was firm with her. They would bring her back a treat if she behaved while they were gone, and perhaps the five of them could do something another day before her sister left.
And so, the pair headed off, clad in nicer-than-usual outfits, since Winter had made reservations at a higher-end restaurant. The older sibling explained how she was used to going where Robyn liked, and figured that Weiss would appreciate the taste of the high life again, which... may or may not have been true.
Once the two couples were together and settled, they spent the first little while catching up, much more easily talking about each of their relationships, especially when compared to when each sister found out about the other's partner. Winter talked about slowly working towards telling their mother about everything, even wanting to fly Robyn up to Atlas to meet her, which was... quite a surprise to hear. Weiss questioned if that would be a good idea, but her sister assured that their mother was still a depressed drunk, so anything that would go against Jacques would likely be admirable to her. Other than that, the two pairs just... chatted, certainly a first for the siblings that they could really think of.
"So, how is that house guest of yours, Neo?" Winter inquired, expression neutral.
Oh boy,
"Well, she's been takin' up a lotta freezer space with ice cream, and yesterday she put a banana sticker on our new toy, which is yellow, so I'd say pretty good." Yang shrugged after a sip of wine.
Weiss was lucky that she was not drinking anything herself, or else she would have spit it all over the table. With her eyes nearly shooting out of her head, she glared at her partner. "Yang!"
Winter merely raised a brow at the blonde, before focusing on her sister. "You own toys?"
Shit. "We... might, yes." Weiss hesitantly admitted, a blush quickly tinting her cheeks. Gods, she wanted to kick Yang right now.
Surprisingly, Winter just hummed, taking a sip from her own white wine as she curiously eyed the couple in front of her. "Well, I suppose we were never allowed toys as children."
Yang furrowed her brow, leaning over toward her girlfriend. "She... does know what kinda toys we're talkin' about, right?"
While Winter's expression remained neutral, Robyn's... not so much. The older blonde appeared as if she was about to explode from trying not to burst into laughter. Winter noticed that, and glared at her partner with an incredibly stern gaze. "Don't. Say. A word."
Soon enough, Yang was snickering, reaching over to tap the other blonde on the arm. "Hey, hey, Robyn, you more of a banana or eggplant kinda gal?" She wondered, doing her best not to laugh.
Robyn reached up to tap her chin with her finger a few times, before smirking. "I much prefer tacos."
Winter immediately blushed as she glared over at her partner again, while Weiss only face-palmed. Oh, good grief. So much for a civil meal.
Meanwhile, Yang grinned with a hum. "Mm, good taste."
Gods damnit. "I can't believe I had sex with you." Weiss groaned.
Yang just raised her hands in mock-surrender. "Hey, I'm the one that had to tell you to tone it down just a wee bit."
Robyn let out a chuckle. "Sounds like someone else couldn't keep up with the Schnee libido."
Yang's eyes went wide upon hearing that. "It's a genetic thing?!"
The older blonde opened her mouth to answer, or maybe clarify, but Winter gently placed a hand atop her partner's. "If you don't shut your trap, dear, you'll never experience it again."
Part of Weiss was glad that threat was listened to, given how she did not really want to hear about how her sister's libido might be comparable to her own. Gods, what an embarrassing topic.
Instead, Robyn just chuckled again, leaning over to lightly nudge her girlfriend. "Don't mind her, she's just shy."
Yang almost snorted, gesturing over to her own partner with her head. "Not really a problem over here."
Weiss merely sighed, partially regretting bringing the two blondes back together. She got the feeling Winter did too.
And so, the date continued, with chatting, joking, delicious food and wine, and of course, a fair share of teasing the Schnee siblings. Thankfully, Yang and Robyn kept it relatively PG, but that did not stop it all from being embarrassing. Although, it was probably going to give them both a good reason to punish their blonde partners later, in whatever way they each saw fit. Yes, the younger sister was sure looking forward to that.
Once dinner and desert had been consumed, and the bill had been paid by Winter at her insistence, the two couples got ready to depart. Though, before they separated for the night, Winter decided to pull her sister aside, bringing her to an empty section of the restaurant. She was about to ask why the older sibling wanted to speak in private, but she was beaten to the punch.
"I... plan to propose to Robyn someday, and... I want you to be there when I do." Winter informed after a deep breath, much to the surprise of her sister. "As well... to be my Maid of Honour when the time comes."
Weiss only stared at her older sibling for a few moments, having no idea that the couple was that serious. Well, given how Winter mentioned the plan to eventually tell their mother about Robyn, they would certainly need to discuss what would come after, namely, their father's reaction. Of course, things like that could wait, because ideas for not only the proposal, but the wedding that would follow were already popping into Weiss' head, and she was getting excited. "That's incredible, Winter!" She near-burst, trying to keep her voice down, lest they be heard by their partners. "I would be honoured." Weiss declared, before glancing over and noticing the other two waiting for them. "Though since we were each about to leave, how about we talk tomorrow about further details?"
Warmly smiling, Winter nodded. "I would like that, dear sister." She agreed, stepping forward to meet her younger sibling in a gentle hug.
"I only hope that Yang can be included in one of your wedding parties." Weiss added as the two separated.
"I'm sure Robyn will ask her." Winter assured, briefly turning around to smile at the blonde pair from across the restaurant. "Those two are truly... how do you put it... two peas in a pod?"
Weiss let out a chuckle, always forgetting that her sister was not quite... up to date on some current lingo. "That they are."
And with that, the two couples retired for the evening, Yang and Weiss back to their apartment, and Winter and Robyn back to the latter's home. Just like the former had promised, they brought home a little treat for Neo from the restaurant, which was thoroughly enjoyed before the pair retired to their bedroom for some late-night activities. Of course, as Weiss and Yang previously discussed, they both made sure the other was in the mood prior to doing anything, but thankfully, that was slowly becoming unnecessary. Sex was starting to happen when it felt right, which meant less frequently. So a lot more of their time was spent together just enjoying each other's company.
Of course there were still many instances of Weiss being caught staring at Yang's impressive chest, whether clothed or not, but that was because they were just so... hypnotizing... and soft... and warm. Gods those things were so fucking perfect. Although, there was a fair amount of staring coming from the blonde as well, mostly at her rear, but that was quite alright with Weiss. The two were well aware of each other's physically appreciation, but whereas with Neo or Vernal it would always lead to sex, now it only did on occasion. Most of the time it led to a little fondling, maybe a little making out, some hugs, compliments, and usually jokes.
Sex used to be a substitute for the intimacy that both Weiss and Yang never got, but ever since they became a couple, it became an expression of their attraction to each other. It was no longer an essential part of their relationship, rather, a truly nice bonus. After all, the two have only ever wanted to just have a place in someone's life. Weiss' father kept taking that away from her, and... Blake took that from Yang. But they had one another now, and that was not about to change.
The next morning, after a rather gentle night or lovemaking... Well, at least after a bit of punishment for all of Yang's jokes from the prior evening, the pair found themselves cuddled up in their bed, still nude, with Weiss snuggled up to her girlfriend's perfect, sizable breasts. The best way to wake up. Although, as a woman who... struggled in that area, there a question that she had been wondering for a little while. Okay, maybe a long while.
"How can you even stand having breasts this big?" Weiss questioned, reaching up to poke the soft watermelons that Yang got to call boobs. Although, while she might be incredibly envious of those things at times, she had to admit, having a partner with them was practically just as good.
Yang just chuckled, which the younger woman could feel against her head. "A blessing and a curse."
Ceasing her poking, Weiss took gentle hold of the ample mounds, holding them for a few moments. "I shall do my utmost to ease this burden."
Tilting her head up to look down at her partner, Yang quirked a brow. "Sounds like someone's interested in a morning round."
Weiss let out a soft chuckle of her own "While I appreciate the offer, I think that I would prefer to remain here." She admitted, snuggling closer to the blonde, and closing her eyes. "I like sex, but I love you."
Unseen by her girlfriend, Yang blinked. "What'd you just say?"
Weiss' eyes shot open at the realization of what she just said so nonchalantly. Of course, she meant it, with all of her heart. It was... something that she had probably known for a while, but at the same time... Perhaps she should have chosen a better time to declare that, rather than just letting it slip out in such a way. After all, Weiss had no idea if Yang even felt the same way! Well, I suppose there's no going back now. She thought, pulling herself up to properly look into her partner's beautiful lilac eyes. "I... love... you... Yang." Weiss declared through a quickly-deepening blush, before leaning in to plant a soft kiss on the blonde's nose.
Barely a moment later, tears began to pool in Yang's widened eyes, expression one of pure shock. But soon enough, her lips curled into a smile as those tears streamed down the sides of her face. "I-I love you too, Weiss." Yang declared right back, quickly pulling the smaller woman into a tight hug, holding her close as the pair chose to merely remain there, enjoying the warmth that their still-naked bodies provided. Both of them could just stay there for hours.
"Hey uh, there's a new freckle I can't really look at properly, could you check it out?" Yang wondered after she had calmed down.
"Of course." Weiss agreed, lifting herself up as the blonde turned over onto her stomach. She then scanned her girlfriend's back, tracing her finger along the faded Mistrali dragon tattoo that covered her lower back, looking around for an unknown freckle, though was unsuccessful. It was not until Yang reached around and pointed to one that Weiss realized that she passed over it, since she had seen the one in question before on several occasions while the pair were engaged in amorous activities. Or more specifically, engaged in a certain position. One that Weiss found she quite enjoyed being on the other side of. Although, now was not the time to be thinking of that. "Looks like a normal freckle, we could make an appointment in case?"
Yang just hummed at first. "Guess I am overdue for a checkup." She admitted, turning back over onto her back, smiling up at Weiss, who merely smiled back, leaning down to meet her in a soft, yet brief kiss.
"We'll both go then."
You can do this.
No, I can't.
Yes, you can. You have to...
Then why am I still standing outside like a bitch? This is my own fucking apartment.
Because there are painful memories in there. Just do what Yang taught you and walk in, whether you're ready or not.
Alright, alright... Here we go.
Taking a final deep breath, Coco reached into her pocket and produced her apartment key. Something that she had not used in... quite a while. She then hesitantly inserted it into the lock, twisted until that familiar click was heard, and opened the door. Coco knew for an absolute fact that she was not ready for this, she had no idea when she would be, if ever, but... she had to. For her own sake.
It took another solid minute before Coco was able to step into the dark apartment, closing the door behind her and flipping on the light, but the moment that she did, she wanted to leave. Rather than being just how she left it, everything was... cleaned up. Some of the discarded clothes were folded on the coffee table, others were gone, the overflowing hamper that the brunette had brought from her bedroom was now empty and off to the side of the room, the couch bed setup was made, and the empty takeout containers that were on the kitchen counter were gone. The only thing that was the same was the fact that all the framed paintings and photographs were nowhere to be seen. Home sweet home... If one could even call it that without Velvet...
Hesitantly walking through the cleaned living area, Coco sat down on the makeshift bed, and took another deep breath, telling herself over and over again that she could do this. She had to. She was going to, because she had already asked the Reds to spend the night in her own apartment for once, just to see if it felt different. At least, that was what Coco told them. In truth, she was trying to see if she could... separate herself, and function on her own. So, that led Coco to being at her own place, as she knew that her feelings for her friends were starting to become too much to keep to herself. Of course, both Ruby and Pyrrha asked her multiple times if she was sure, to which the brunette tried to promise that she would be fine.
Well, so far so... not amazing.
As Coco just sat there on her living area couch, idly staring across the room, she found herself thinking about the last several days, and how boring and lonely tonight would be in comparison, even if it was only for the evening. She had hung out with Yang and Neo for a gaming night, filled with laughs, over-competitiveness, and lots of candy. The day after was spent working on and finishing up various commissions that were created using her friends as models. Though both of those were normal.
It was not until the prior afternoon that Coco received an... unexpected visitor. At first, she did not recognize the tall, elegant, and frankly drop-dead gorgeous woman that had appeared at the Reds' front door, but upon introducing herself... the brunette knew exactly who she was. Salem Ozpin... Velvet's old company boss. After Coco's initial shock, she explained why she was there, why it took so long to find her, and... offered a sincere apology for what happened, along with more details about the fire itself, things that were not made public. The older woman then took out an envelope and handed it to Coco, saying that it was two-hundred thousand lien. Of course no amount of money could ever replace a lost loved one, but it was all that Salem could really do.
It took a while to truly process that visit, as well as the fact that Coco was just handed two-hundred thousand lien by someone who basically did not know her, but it eventually sunk in, and she began to wonder what the hell she was going to do with all that money. She had not exactly hurt for cash for quite a while, so she might end up just using a portion of the money for non-essentials. Guess it's time to buy my friends some well-deserved gifts. Coco thought to herself. Yang for one could use a new game system, given how her current one was from the previous generation, and Pyrrha a pair of new hiking boots, since hers were years old.
The walls look pretty bare, hon. Suddenly echoed a familiar, sweet voice in her head, pulling the brunette from her other thoughts.
Coco only sighed. I couldn't stand to have them up without you. I couldn't live without you... They were just reminders that you were gone...
'Velvet' was quiet. Do you still feel this way?
That was a tough question. 'Course I do. Coco admitted. Velvet was gone, and all those pictures, drawings and paintings only dangled that fact in front of her, like a taunt. Though at the same time, her feelings for Ruby and Pyrrha were always at the forefront of her mind nowadays. So... perhaps she could think about putting those frames back up. At least as a start. There were a lot of reminders around the apartment.
I think it's time for some of my work to be brought out of the bedroom. 'Vevlet' recommended.
Coco just let out another sigh. Yeah... Yeah, maybe you're right. She accepted, glancing toward the hallway that led toward her bedroom. Unfortunately she was unsure if she was ready to step foot in there just yet, because that was where everything of Velvet's was. Not just the framed pictures. Everything. And... it might be too much. She could still do it in the morning.
Why are you staying here alone, when you have Ruby and Pyrrha to be there for you? 'Velvet' inquired.
Because... If I don't at least try to stay here myself... I won't be able to leave them. Coco managed, even in her own head, already feeling tears beginning to well up in her eyes. They've helped me so much, dealt with so much of my shit... I don't deserve any of their kindness... not without you to share it with...
'Velvet' gently shushed the brunette. Not having me there doesn't mean you don't deserve to be happy, Coco, because you do, just as you believe others do. You're in love, and you shouldn't let our past hold you back. Or use my memory to say what you think you can't. She encouraged. I bet Yang would agree with me.
Damnit. 'Velvet' was right. Coco had been using this... mind version of her ex-girlfriend for push herself forward for far too long, and every time she did, it became more confusing and painful. So maybe it was about time to speak with someone who was actually real. And she knew just who to call.
Thanks, Velvs. Even now, you're more help than you know. Coco smiled. I love you
I love you too, Coco.
And with that, Coco was alone again, sitting on her makeshift bed, wiping tears from her eyes. Though not for long. Leaning back in order to grab her scroll from her pocket, she switched on the device and navigated to her contacts, where after scrolling a bit, she found the one she was looking for: Yang Xiao Long. Coco then tapped the Call Mobile button, and only had to listen to the ringing tone a few times before the call was answered.
"Hey, Big C. How's it hangin' this fine evening?
Coco was quiet for a moment. "Hey, Yang..."
As expected, the blonde immediately knew something was up. "You okay over there?" She inquired, clear concern in her voice.
"Not uh, not really. I've gotta talk to you about some stuff." Coco admitted.
"Sure, no problem. I'm all ears, Coco." Yang encouraged. Gods, she was always so helpful. The brunette wished that her friend could be there with her.
Coco took a deep breath, knowing exactly what she wanted to say, but finding herself stuck. Yang was her best friend, and she trusted her more than anyone, but even then, what she had to say would be quite the bomb to drop, especially given how it related to Yang. Of course, Coco was already on a call with the blonde, so there was no turning back. One more deep breath.
"I'm... in love with Ruby and Pyrrha."
Yang was silent for several moments, and the other woman could feel her shock, even through the scroll call. Then she cleared her throat. "Wow, that's uh, definitely unexpected. Not really sure what to say honestly, except Rubes and Pyrrha are great choices."
Coco felt her lips curl into a slight smile, immediately starting to feel a little more at ease. "Yeah, well, you know I have good taste."
Yang let out a chuckle. "Damn right you do." She agreed. "I mean sure they're kinda married, but knowin' those two and their... openness with certain stuff, you might actually have a shot."
Coco managed a slight chuckle of her own. "I've always wanted to be a side-ho."
Yang full-on laughed at her friend's answer. "Girl, you know those two wouldn't third-wheel you for a second." Then she paused, and her tone changed. "They'd give you all the love and shit you deserve. Unlike I could..."
A brief silence followed. "Guess things would've been a hell of a lot simpler if we worked out, huh?" Coco wondered, partially to herself. "Part of me still wishes we could." Unfortunately, that ship had sailed.
"Yeah... If it wasn't for our little issue, we probably would've made a kickass couple." Yang sadly agreed. "But hey, if you're lookin' for something more casual, or if things don't go well with Rubes and Pyr, Neo's been kinda... well, obviously horny."
Coco chuckled a bit. "Thanks for the offer to rent me your roommate, but I don't think that'd be good for either of us."
Yang shrugged, probably. "Hey, I know you'd do well by her, you did well by me."
Coco managed a smile. "You did me just as good, XIao Long. But fine, if things... don't work out, I'll think about it. And you've gotta ask her first. You're not actually gonna rent her out."
Yang laughed again. "If anything she'll pay me."
Coco furrowed her brow. "For what? Getting a shot at bein' a rebound for a heartbroken widow?" She asked, realizing how ridiculous that hypothetical situation sounded. "Real great opportunity."
"You don't hear the things she says behind your back." Yang countered. "You might have yourself a little admirer."
Coco quirked a brow. "Oh yeah? What kinda stuff?"
"I dunno, not my place to say, Big C." Yang defended, likely with that all-to-familiar, stupid, adorable grin on her face.
"I'll buy you more of that sour candy you love so much." Coco offered, a small grin spreading across her face. Man, her friend really knew how to make her feel better, if even by accident.
"Save the seduction for my sisters, you adulterer you." Yang laughed.
Coco was unable to stop herself from fully facepalming. "Don't remind me, Yang. It was already scary enough telling you." She groaned, before pausing. "But uh, there any chance you can be there with me when I do tell them?"
Yang was quiet for a moment. "Honestly, as much as I wanna be there for you, I think that should be a moment you three share in private, however it comes out."
Damnit. "Yeah, I figured. Thanks anyway. You're the best." Coco smiled, happy that she at least got to talk to her friend tonight. It certainly helped.
"Hey, I love you, and no matter what happens, you're family." Yang promised.
"Love you too, Yang." Coco offered. "But I should go, I've got a uh, another call to make."
Yang nodded, at least the brunette figured she did. "Sure thing. I look forward to havin' another sister-in-law to ogle."
Coco was about to roll her eyes, but thought of a far better response. "I look forward to calling Summer mommy."
A groan was heard on the other side of the call. "Alright, get outta here and make your call." Yang pushed, much to the amusement of her friend.
"Will do. See ya later, Yang." Coco acknowledged.
"Good luck, sis!" Yang beamed, just before the two hung up.
Once the call had been ended, Coco leaned back in her seat sigh a sigh. She was extremely glad that she decided to call her best bud, because every single time that she needed any kind of pick-me-up, Yang never ceased to make her feel better. Unfortunately, now came the difficult call. Scrolling through her contacts, Coco found the one she was looking for: Pyrrha Nikos, and tapped the Call button. Barely a few moments later, she heard the familiar click that signified the call bad been answered.
"Hello, Coco." Came Pyrrha's kind, soothing voice from the other side. "How are things at your apartment? Is everything alright?"
Coco took a deep breath. "I uh, changed my mind, Pyr."
There was a pause. "What do you mean?" Pyrrha inquired, concern creeping into her voice.
Coco did not want to tell her what was truly wrong, but this was Pyrrha, so there was no way that she would be able to hide it for long. Might as well come clean from the get go. "I... need you two. I can't... I can't stay here without you." Coco shamefully admitted.
"I understand. We will be there soon." Pyrrha almost-immediately decided. "I love you, Coco."
Coco could not stop herself from smiling, as tears began to pool in her eyes once more. "I love you too, Pyrrha." She declared, not just as an equal, familial response. It was for real this time.
But Coco did not say as much.
