Hall of Records File 7

Harry wasn't sure he had ever seen his uncle act so excited over something. The Crimson Fox was usually so stern and in control most of the time. The Boy Who Lived was genuinely amazed to see his uncle gleefully pack his trunk, looking over the charts of the Caribbean on the walls and books open of old sailing ships.

"You're really set on this trip, aren't you Uncle?" Harry picked up one of the books.

"It's long been a hobby of mine, nephew I think you'll enjoy it." Mark explained as he took the weighty tome, putting it back on the shelf. "Wizarding Pirates are a unique breed. When they wanted to use magic, they didn't waste time with wandcraft and memorizing long-winded incantations. Pirate would use magical objects and weapons in order to gain power. It could be absolutely devastating. Not to mention they were some of the best Potion Masters in the world."

"When they weren't plundering ships or getting roaring drunk, Wizarding pirate crews would search for the wrecks of ancient pirate ships and island compounds in order to add to their own knowledge and strength." Mark said with an unsurprising glee. "Pirate captains would zealously guard their secrets, so managing to find something like that is a huge haul!"

"If you don't mind me asking, Why do search for them?" Harry's green eyes flickered to the wall where a series of portraits of Mark on his expeditions hung, displaying the fruits of his labors. The elder Potter put a hand on his nephew's shoulder.

"A few reasons. One is purely for the thrill, going back into the past." His expression settled into a somber gaze, "Although some of the artifacts I discovered were rather dangerous, and shouldn't be allowed to fall into the certain unscrupulous parties, if you catch my drift." He rubbed his hands together in anticipation. "This particular trip holds very significant meaning. Because we're going after the grandest prize of all! You know who Blackbeard is, right?"

"Yeah, of course I do…" Behind his steel rimmed glasses, Harry's eyes widened in realization. "You don't mean…"

Mark nodded. "Oh yes, my dear nephew. This is the big one. I have searched many years, but I finally found it! According to legends, before he was killed, Blackbeard hid his ship, the Queen Anne's Revenge, in an isolated cove under a stasis shield. Blackbeard was known for having a massive collection of magical weapons and other artifacts. I want to see if there's anything there that can help us against Voldemort. Not to mention it will just be plain fun."

Inspired by Tellemicus Sundance's Harry Potter and the Queen Anne's Revenge.I had been playing with this idea for quite a while now. The backstory for this had Blackbeard in possession of a decent sized armada of about twenty ships before running foul of the Royal Navy, which resulted in all but two of his ships being destroyed. Deciding it's time to go underground, Blackbeard disperses the bulk of his crew, taking only a small dedicated group of loyal followers with him, hides his precious flagship, and his entire collection of weapons and artifacts in a hidden cove, putting it under a stasis spell with the intention of retrieving it later.

They make a stopover in Cuba where Blackbeard gives the Captain's Log, which details the exact location of the Revenge to a friend for safekeeping before moving on to hide somewhere in North America, only to run afoul of a traitorous crew member and the coalition of other pirate crews, which ultimately results in his demise. The Logbook finds its way into Mark's hands and he leads, Sirius, Remus and the kids on an adventure to recover it.
