Our heroes have their sights set on Emerald Town for Orihime's first Pokemon Talent Star competition. Before they get here, they're going to witness another competition
All of them were on their way to Emerald Town, but they stopped when they spotted something a little unusual.
"What's that?" Ichigo questioned. All of them stood at the top of the hill as they could see many trainers and their pokemon doing some sparring against each other. Pokemon kept throwing punches and kicks with their trainers trying to take it.
"Check out all the fighting-type pokemon down there." Rukia said.
"What are they all doing down there?" Orihime asked.
"They're all training, but what are so many trainers training for?" Ichigo questioned.
"Hey. There's a sign." Chad said. All of them spotted the sign and had a look at what's going on. It was an ad for some sort of event.
"It says that PokeWrestling is going on today." Rukia said.
"PokeWrestling?" All of them questioned. This sounds like it could be interesting.

(Ichigo's voice) Time to Rumble
"PokeWrestling is an event where pokemon wrestle each other." Rukia said as she was reading what it was about. "It says here that any pokemon is eligible to enter, but the only attacks that are allowed are normal-type and fighting-type attacks."
"I get it. That explains why all these guys having fighting-types." Ichigo said. "It's basically a big wrestling event. Must be pretty big. What do you get when you win?"
"It looks like just some fancy trophy and belt." Rukia said.
"Ichigo, are you going to enter?" Orihime asked.
"I don't think so." Ichigo said. "Absol and Umbreon aren't much of a match for fighting-type pokemon. Chad, on the other hand does. He's got Hawlucha. What do you say, Chad? Do you want to enter?"
"I'm not sure." Chad said. He reached for his pokeballs and open it up to release Hawlucha.
"Hawlucha!"
"Hawlucha, look at this." Chad said as he showed Hawlucha the sign for the tournament. "What do you say? Do you want enter?" Hawlucha took a look and was trying to figure it if it really does want to enter. While Hawlucha was trying to think it over, they heard something big and large walking over. They looked behind the sign and saw a Machamp walked out.
"Don't tell me you're really going to enter?" They spotted Machamp's trainer. He had a brown pompadour and dressed like a delinquent with an opened black jacket and pants with him wearing a red shirt that had the face of an oni on it. "Are you really going to enter with that shrimp?"
"Maybe." Chad said.
"Who are you?" Ichigo questioned.
"The name is Hons. I'm entering the competition with my Machamp, the one who is going to win it." Hons said. He walked right over to Chad. Hons might be a little shorter than Chad, but he was trying to be the intimidating one. "Don't bother entering. Your small Hawlucha doesn't stand a chance against my Machamp. Machamp is much bigger and better"
"Size doesn't mean as much as you think." Chad said.
"I guess we won't know." Hons said. He was sure Chad wasn't going to enter. Machamp looked down at Hawlucha. Machamp was telling Hawlucha not to bother entering either. Hawlucha would just lose anyway. Hawlucha felt a little offended by what Machamp said and wanted to take it right there.
"Don't, Hawlucha." Chad said as he stopped Hawlucha from doing anything.
"Chad, you've got to enter now. That guy is calling you out." Ichigo said. "Show him that Hawlucha is just as tough as that Machamp."
"I'm with Ichigo on this." Rukia said. They wanted Chad to enter to teach Hons a lesson, but Chad wasn't entirely convinced.
"I have been meaning to ask you. How did you get Hawlucha in the first place?" Orihime asked.
"I'm sure I told you all about my abuelo." Chad said.
"Yeah, your Grandfather Abuelo." Ichigo said.
"You moron. Abuelo means grandfather. It wasn't his name." Rukia said.
"After I lived with him, I went out into the world. I met Hawlucha along the way." Chad said as he remembered how he met Hawlucha so well. "I was walking through the forest when I spotted Hawlucha battling against pokemon that were bigger than it. I saw Hawlucha was defending other pokemon. When I saw Hawlucha in action, I felt like I was looking at my grandfather, using his size and strength to protect others like he wanted me to do. When the battle was over, I went and talked to Hawlucha. I wanted Hawlucha to join me in my travels."
"And Hawlucha said yes because you two are together right now." Orihime said.
"Not exactly. We battled each other." Chad said.
"You battle with a pokemon with your own hands?!" Rukia said with shock.
"It was just simple sparring, but we were able to understand each other with each strike." Chad said. "That's how Hawlucha and I agreed to travel together. Hawlucha and I have been together ever since."
"Seems like you and Hawlucha make a great team, but that's all the more reason you should enter." Ichigo said. "By entering this competition, you're honoring your grandfather and the day you and Hawlucha met." Chad didn't think of it like that. He reached for the gold coin he kept around his neck and thought of his grandfather that he loved so dearly.
"Hawlucha, do you want to?" Chad asked.
"Hawlucha!" Hawlucha was all set to go. That's all Chad needed to see. Chad entered the competition with Hawlucha. Others have gathered and stood in a wrestling ring.
"Welcome one and all to PokeWrestling!" The emcee announced. "Here, trainers and their pokemon are going to rumble. Only one is going to be left standing. I'm not going to waste your time with all this talking. We're going to get ready to rumble!"
"Looks like it's been set tournament style." Rukia said as she could see the brackets. "It looks like Chad is in the first match."
"He'll win." Ichigo said as he had faith in Chad.
"We're going to start with our first round. It's Chad with his Hawlucha going against Jim and his Primeape." The emcee said. The pokemon stepped in the ring with their trainers out of the ring. "Let's wrestle!" A bell went off and signal the start.
"Go, Hawlucha!" Chad said. Both pokemon charged right at each other. It looked like it was going to be a collision, but Hawlucha jumped right over Primeape. Hawlucha pushed itself against the ropes and launched itself. "Karate Chop!" Hawlucha chopped Primeape right on the head and knocked it down. Hawlucha jumped in the air and did a piledriver against Primeape. "Finish it with Flying Press!" Hawlucha jumped in the air and gathered power to slam itself against Primeape. Primape was taken out and the bell went off to signal the end of the battle.
"It looks like we already have our first winner!" The emcee said.
"Yeah! He won like it was nothing!" Ichigo said.
"Way to go, Chad!" Orihime cheered. Everyone was impressed, but Hons and Machamp weren't as easily impressed.
"He's going down...hard." Hons said as he and Machamp weren't going to be beaten by them. Chad and Hons battled their way through and beat their opponents. They made their way to the finals and it was just the two of them.
"Looks like we're down to our last two wrestlers." The emcee said. "We have the team of Hawlucha and Chad against Machamp and Hons." The audience cheered as they were excited for this fight. It was one neither pokemon wanted to lose.
"You might have gotten lucky to make it this far, but your luck's run out." Hons said as he combed his pompadour. Chad wasn't going to make this easy for Hons to win. The bell rang and it was the start of the match.
"Hawlucha!"
"Machamp!" Both pokemon went at each other. Hawlucha jumped at Machamp, but Machamp caught Hawlucha easily.
"Nice, Machamp. Now use Brick Break!" Hons said. Machamp used its spare arms and smashed them against Hawlucha's shoulders and knocked Hawlucha to the ring. "Now use Cross Chop!"
"Dodge it!" Chad called. Machamp crossed its arms and tried striking Hawlucha, but Hawlucha was able to avoid it. "Now use Karate Chop!" Hawlucha managed to land it's attack against Machamp, but Machamp was able to knock Hawlucha away.
"There's no way you're going to win because Machamp is bigger, stronger, and better." Hons said.
"That's what you think. Hawlucha, try using your size to your advantage." Chad said. Hawlucha did just that. Machamp tried grabbing Hawlucha, but Hawlucha dived between Machamp's legs. Hawlucha jumped and hit Machamp right in the back and knocked it down. "Use the pike to help with Flying Press!"
"Hawlucha!" Hawlucha jumped on the corner and was getting ready to finish it.
"Get up!" Hons called. Hawlucha came down with Flying Press, but Machamp was able to move out of the way just in time. The two pokemon glared at each other. They smashed themselves against each other and tried to push the other back. "Come on! Quit messing around and finish it!" Machamp lifted Hawlucha off the floor and smashed it against the ring.
"Hawlucha! Are you okay?!" Chad said. Hawlucha was able to get back up, but Machamp was tough.
"Get it over with already! Just crush that runt!" Hons said. Machamp moved closer and was going to end it, but Hawlucha wasn't backing down.
"Go, Hawlucha!" Chad encouraged. Hawlucha didn't want to let Chad down. Hawlucha gathered the power that it had inside and literally let it out. Hawlucha charged in a spiral of energy and smashed right against Machamp and dealt a lot of damage.
"What was that?!" Orihime asked as they were all shocked at What Hawlucha just did.
"That was Giga Impact! A powerful attack!" Rukia said. "Hawlucha probably wants to make sure Chad wins and learned a powerful move to do that." Machamp took the attack hard. Machamp couldn't hold it together as Machamp fell on its back. The bell went off and the match was over.
"We have a winner! Our winners are Hawlucha and Chad!" The emcee announced. Hons couldn't believe he actually lost, but everyone cheered for Chad and Hawlucha. Chad and Hawlucha were rewarded a trophy for Chad and a champion belt for Hawlucha. As Chad held Hawlucha on his arm, they took in the glory that came with this win. For the first time, Chad felt like he achieved something great and he hopes he did his grandfather well.
...
Later
"Nice work, Chad." Rukia said.
"You really earned it." Ichigo said.
"You deserved that win." Orihime said. As the sun began to set, they all stood outside and were real proud of Chad and his victory. Chad appreciated all of it. Chad spotted Hons, but he didn't look happy.
"Hons?" Chad said as he could tell Hons wanted to say something.
"You just got lucky. If Hawlucha hadn't learn Giga Impact, I would have won." Hons said. "You won't be so lucky next time." Hons left it at that as he turned around and hit the road.
"Don't listen to him, Chad. You earned that win, and I'm sure your grandfather would agree." Ichigo said. Chad agreed to that as well.
Chad experienced PokeWrestling and it looked like it was a big hit for him. Honoring the memories of his abuelo, and the bond with his Hawlucha, our heroes continue on with their journey. Next will be Orihime's competition in Emerald Town. Don't miss it.
