"It has been said that all love begins and ends with she who gave us life. A thousand years ago, my mother turned us into monsters. Yet, still, she claimed to love her children, even as she vowed to destroy us. The noble Elijah, tormented by long-buried, shameful secrets. Kol, the wily troublemaker, out for no one but himself. Finn, the devoted acolyte, his love all too easily walked by our mother's sick hate. Fierce Rebekah, willing to risk everything on the chance that she may one day find happiness. And me, the bastard child. My mother's greatest shame. Now, finally, we have defeated her, giving her the choice she never thought to give us- to live on as one of the monster's she created or, suffer the slow, agonizing death she so deserves." Nik told me and Cami on our way to the safe house.

"Um, congratulations, I guess?" Cami said from behind us. "But, right now, I'm a little more worried about Finn... considering I totally stabbed him in the back."

"He won't find you here. This is the safest place you could possibly be. Come on! There's someone I want you to meet." Nik said getting out of the car with the two of us following him. "I'd like to introduce you to the newest member of our family. The little troublemakers all the fuss has been about." The door opened and Hayley came out on the porch with Katherine in her arms and Nikolas following her. I made my way to them and took Katherine from her as Nik picked up Nikolas. "Camille, you remember our son, Nikolas. This is Katherine Hope Mikaelson. Our daughter." Cami stared absolutely stunned, and looked at us in confusion before turning her focus back on the children in our arms.

"Oh my god! But- You said- I thought she was-?" Cami said trying for words.

"The only way to truly protect them was to convince the world of their death." Nik told her and I smiled at my children before looking up at Nik. "I hope you understand, once it is safe for you to leave here, this secret cannot leave with you." Cami, clearly happy at this revelation, nodded in understanding before smiling at Katherine and Nikolas with tears in her eyes before walking up to us. She held out her hand and Katherine grabbed her finger, cooing at the older woman making us both giggle.

"Oh, she's perfect!" Cami told us.

"Yes, they are."

Once we were inside, we all tried brainstorming what our next moves were.

"Now that we've entombed our mother, I intend to finish making the city safe for Katherine. Which, to start, means dealing with the lingering problem of Finn." Nik told us.

"Oh, once he figures out what you've done to your mother, he's gonna go off the deep end." Cami told us.

"Which is exactly why we need to keep you here. Out of harm's way." I told her.

"Hayley, Nikole, and I will return home and take care of my wayward brother. Elijah will remain here with you." Nik said. I turned to Elijah to see him displeased with this decision as he peered out the window. "He's been experiencing some side effects since his ordeal as our mother's captive. Best he stay here and convalesce." Elijah gave Nik an offended look. Clearly he was feeling patronized by us.

"A single violent outburst at a filthy road-side café, and one never hears the end of it." Elijah said.

"A single violent outburst that could have been solved with compulsion instead of death." I reminded him. "While the two of you are together Nik and I thought she might be able to help you." Cami looked over at Elijah awkwardly, while Elijah simply looked uncomfortable with the situation he was now in.

"Well, if you excuse us, we best be on my way! Rebekah should have already woken up in the body of Angelica Barker. Once she has cut the ties of Miss Barker's former life, she'll make her way directly here." Nik said smiling. "You should expect her shortly." I gave both my children a kiss before Nik, Hayley and I left the safe house for New Orleans.

Back at the compound, I was helping Hayley with the wolves and vampires to build a peace between the races.

"So how are the wedding plans going?" I asked her and she gave me a look. "That good?"

"I spent some time with Elijah." She told me.

"Of course you did. You two were in the safe house with two kids." I reminded her.

"No. I spent time alone with Elijah." She told me and gave me a look.

"You going to tell Jackson?" I asked her.

"Do I really have to?" she asked me.

"Please tell me you are joking?" I told her and she just gave me a look. "Hayley, you have to tell your fiancée that you slept with another man. A man you obviously love. A lot. Does Elijah even know you're getting married?"

"Yes. He does." She told me sternly.

"And he still slept with you?" I asked her and she nodded. "Damn."

"I have to tell Jackson." She said after we were silent for a moment.

"You have to tell Jackson." I agreed. "He loves you."

"I know." She said.

"Do you love him?" I asked her.

"I don't know." She shrugged. "I like him. A lot."

"Talk to him." I told her. "I have to talk to Marcel. See you later."

"See ya."

I made my way into Marcel's loft to see him throwing some kind of party. Again.

"Nikole Mikaelson." I smiled up at Marcel. "What can I do for you?" he asked me with his usual smirk.

"Hayley and I had an idea for the wolves and vampires to achieve peace. Finally." I told him.

"And what would that be?" he asked me

"Talking." I told him. "Hayley has Aiden gathering the wolves and I'm bringing you and yours. Peace gathering. It's needed for the city to mend."

"The wolves have been angry for a long time. They won't like this." He told me.

"They don't know about it. Hayley is talking to the wolves and gathering them now at the compound and I'm talking to you." I told him. "Admit it. You want to rule the city as top vampire again? The first step is setting up peace talks with the others."

"Even the witches?" he asked me with a knowing look.

"You know I'm not a big advocate for the witches after what happened between them and my family. But, yes, even the witches. Of course they are all probably under the control of Finn right now. We have to focus on one group at a time." I told him.

"Why the wolves first?" he asked me.

"Cause the wolves will soon be able to be Hybrids without turning." I told him. "Hayley and Jackson are getting married and when they do every wolf in attendance will have the power of a Hybrid. Unless you and your vamps are in good standing with them, they will hunt you and your guys down."

"You're good at this." He told me.

"You going to show?" I asked him.

"We'll show." He assured me sticking his hand out.

"Then I'm damn good at this." I said smiling shaking his hand. "Shall we?" Marcel called out to his guys telling them what was going on before we all left for the compound.

When we arrived, the wolves were already in standing in the courtyard. I looked up to the balcony to see Hayley and a tense Jackson staring down at us. I smiled and nodded to them. I moved out of the way as Marcel held his arm out to stay his vampires. Hayley and Jackson soon joined us in the courtyard and the painful process to forming an alliance.

"You wolves are here because you want freedom." Hayley told her people. "And, I promise you, if you stay, you will be free. But..." she turned to the vampires. "We need as much help as we can get."

"My vamps and I are willing to stand with you against the witches. In return, all I want is a promise that there will be peace between our sides after the wedding." Marcel told him.

"You're the one who spent the last one hundred years killing and cursing us!" one of the wolves reminded him.

"Which means you might wanna listen to what I have to say." Marcel told him.

"Look we all came here willingly so we could have peace in our city. We've all made mistakes with each other and now we are under the witches thumbs. You want peace for your families? Then we can't just be yelling at each other." I told them.

"I see you're brokering a truce between mongrels and parasites!" We turned and saw Finn walking away from the stairway leading to where Kol and Nik were. "And just how long do you think that's really going to last? A month? A week? A day? What you don't yet seem to understand is that the only thing that can exist between your two degenerate species is hatred, war, and death." Finn was slowly backing away as he spoke to us until he was standing outside of the compound. Then, he rubbed his fingers together and blew on them before slamming his hand against the doorway of the entrance, making the entire building shake. I glanced around alarmed before seeing him smile at our confusion. Gia rushed using her vampire speed to attack him, but when she slammed into a barrier which burned her hands, as though she'd forgotten to wear her daylight ring in the sunlight. Marcel lunged towards her to see what happened. "But, I imagine- given a little time confined together- you'll come to see things the way I do." He said before turning and leaving with a satisfied smirk on his face.

"Nik!" I called out going to find him.

"What is it?" he asked me as he and Kol stepped out of Kol's new room.

"I'm going to kill your brother!" I told him angrily.

"A long line seems to be forming. What did he do this time?" he asked calmly.

"He's trapped us all in here." I told him as the vampires and wolves tried getting through the windows and other entrances. Nik looked at me shocked with the news before rushing past me. I followed him to our bedroom and saw him trying to get to the balcony. His hand burnt just like Gia's before he yanked his hand away from the barrier.

"Well?" Kol asked frantically from behind me. "Are we really trapped?"

"We certainly are. Which means we have a witch problem. You're a witch. Fix it." Nik ordered before going to storm out of the room, but Kol stopped him giving him an incredulous look.

"And what the bloody hell do you want me to do about it?" Kol asked him.

"Well, considering the crowd, I think you'll be more motivated to find a solution. After all, I can easily out-wait our brother's antics. You, on the other hand, might find yourself looking rather appetizing to some of our fellow prisoners." Nik reminded him. Kol's face showed that he now realized that he was human in a home full of trapped vampires for an undetermined amount of time.

"I'm gonna need some help." He told us.

"Mmm." Nik said smiling falsely.

"Get who and what you need." I told him.

As we waited for Kol to be ready, the vampires and werewolves were mingling in the courtyard. Someone had broken out the booze and they were all having drinks and enjoying themselves despite the fact that we were all trapped. Gia was wandering around filling people's glasses with bourbon. Hayley and I stood above them watching everything before Nik joined us.

"Worried about your wolves?" Nik asked Hayley who just gave him a blank look. "Or, perhaps the source of your anxiety is a little further from home? How is Elijah, by the way? I'm sure he found your visit most curative."

"Ew! No." Hayley said embarrassed.

"Be nice." I told him giving him a smile.

"Where's the fun in that?" he asked me and I laughed lightly shaking my head.

"That obvious, huh?" Hayley finally asked him before clearing her throat awkwardly making Nik laugh.

"Well, you both had a certain glow about you all morning. Frankly, I'm glad the two of you dropped your pretenses and, uh, shall we say... let the spirit move you?" Nik told her making us laugh harder before Hayley shoved me playfully before she started laughing.

"Okay! Okay, okay, okay, stop! Enough! Your family is weird enough already." She told him. Her face suddenly grew serious and I followed her line of sight to Jackson, who had his own bottle of whiskey and sitting next to some werewolves.

"You're feeling guilty, aren't you?" Nik asked her. "Wondering if you should tell your betrothed things he doesn't need to know. From all the poems written on the subject of unrequited love, there are so few on the pain of being the object of that affection."

"There are things you can't tell him, Hayley." I reminded her. "But there are other things you should tell him." She looked at the two of us before looking back to Jackson.

"Do you two tell each other everything?" she asked. Nik and I looked at each other before I looked back to her.

"Go away for a minute." I told him. He gave me a questioning look and I nodded my head away. He left and I turned to her. "I told you earlier you have to tell him the truth. I don't tell Nik everything, but the big stuff? You agreed to marry Jackson then slept with Elijah. That's big."

"I have another big secret that he might need to know." She told me.

"That secret has to wait." I told her thinking of the precious little time I had with both my children before being forced away once more.

"So I tell him." She said.

"You tell him." I said.

I was walking through the courtyard when I noticed some of the vampires looking hungry. I looked around at the vampires that surrounded the wolves and human Kol. If the vampires fed from the wolves, any peace talks were out the window. I smiled at some of them as I moved to where Nik was seeing what I was seeing.

"What's happening?" I asked him.

"I plan on finding out." He said before he walked away from me. I followed him into a room to see Marcel, Gia and Josh. "Your vampires seem to think it's lunch-time!" Nik told him annoyed.

"What's going on?" I asked noticing the looks on their faces.

"They're not the only ones who are hungry. It's all of us." Marcel told us.

"Yeah, like super-size hungry. And there's an all-you-can-eat werewolf buffet right through those doors." Josh said. We looked back into the courtyard where the vampires were rolling around in pain as the wolves sit and socialize, oblivious to their danger.

"We have to keep them under control. They feed on those wolves and everything falls apart." I said before going back to the courtyard and trying to manage the vampires and wolves.

Later in the day, most of the wolves and vampires were still congregated in the courtyard, but the vampires were huddled in a group on one side of the room. The wolves watched the vampires curiously on the other side, still in the dark on what was going on. They knew we were anxious and restless, but that was it. Even Nik, Hayley and I had felt the hunger that was plaguing the vampires. Just on a down level. As one of the vampires crossed the room he accidently bumped one of the wolves and that set them off.

"Watch it!" the wolf told him.

"Hey!" Gia shouted and we lunged towards them and pulled the vampire and wolf away from each other.

"Watch it!" Gia told the wolf.

"Break it up!" Jackson ordered. I stepped between the two as they tried attacking.

"Hey! Back down!" I ordered pushing them into two different seats. I looked to the kitchen to see Marcel, Nik and Kol. "Stay with him." I told Gia before going to them.

"Please tell me something is being done." I told them.

"We better move this along." Marcel said.

"Gee, ya think?" I asked him sarcastically.

"Uh, Vincent's boundary is too strong. But, what Davina and I can do is cast a destruction spell. It would temporarily neutralize all magical objects in the compound, including the compound itself. If it works? Well, then it will give us sixty seconds to escape whilst the boundary is shut down." Kol told us.

"Alright, alright, that sounds good to me." Marcel said.

"If the spell works, it will suppress all magical objects in the vicinity. That means your rings." Nik told him.

"And if we go outside in the sun without our rings, we're dead." Marcel groaned.

"Unless you wait for nightfall." Nik told him.

"Agh." Marcel said before looking at his guys. "They're also new. They're not going to be able to fight the hunger. We can't wait until nightfall. We're going to have a bloodbath on our hands before we even get close."

"Call Davina. Tell her to get here, now." I told Kol before going back to the mess Finn had given us.

When Davina had arrived she and Kol prepared their spell before starting it. I was in my room staring at a strange message.

RM ASSLYM

"Nikole!" Nik called. "Let's go!" I went downstairs to see Davina and Kol saying the incantation.

"Are they almost done?" I asked him.

"They just started." He said. Suddenly, a huge gust of wind came through and blew out all of the candles around us and Davina gasped. Davina looked at the threshold of the house and held out her hand to check for the boundary. She started reaching towards Kol's hand through the barrier.

"Davina!" Kol called out alarmed, lunging forward to stop her. She grabbed his hand without burning revealing the spell worked.

"Okay, Jack, now!" Hayley called out.

"Come on, go!" Jackson ordered and he rushed the wolves out of the house, along with Hayley, while the vampires who couldn't leave hid in the shadows watching.

"Remember, sixty seconds!" Kol told us. Nik and I passed immediately before he did and a moment before time was up Nik grabbed Kol and threw him back into the compound. When Kol landed on the ground it hit his head, cutting his forehead.

"Nik what are you doing?" I asked him confused, but I knew better than to try to go through the barrier.

"Slight change of plans, brother. I no longer have to treat you as anything but the treacherous liar that you truly are." Nik told him.

"What the bloody hell?" Kol asked him angry and just as confused as me and Davina.

"Where is she?" Nik asked him. I looked at Kol as he looked at the hungry vampire who he was trapped with. He was standing in the sunlight so they couldn't lunge at him since their daylight rings were still neutralized by the spell.

"Please! They'll kill him!" Davina pleaded with him while there was still time for him to leave with us.

"Well, he should have thought about that before he betrayed our sister!" I looked at Kol in shock. "Rebekah never made it to her new body, did she? And, seeing as you cast the spell- and, well, you're you- I'd hardly call it an uncrackable case!" Nik said angrily.

"Rebekah's fine, Nik!" Kol said before angrily walking towards us. "It was a prank, nothing more than anything you lot have done to me, but I bet it's different when it's one of—" he was cut when he tried to cross the boundary, but it was back in place.

"Oooh." Nik smirked. "Barrier's back up." The vampires, realizing they could enter the sunlight again, started to swarm Kol. "And those vampires look oh-so hungry. Now, I was willing to welcome you back in my home, but you had to return to your petty, selfish jealousies! Well, let's see how well they help you survive when you're stuck in there!" Nik stormed away leaving me and Davina to watch Kol and the vampires.

"Where is she Kol?" I asked him.

"Get me out of here first and I'll take you to her. I swear." He told me.

"We'll do what we can to get you out alive." I told him before leaving the compound to convince Nik to save his brother for his sister.
