I DO NOT OWN THE SELECTION SERIES. SHOUTOUT TO ABIZEAU, AND LOGAN MCDONNELL FOR CREATING THESE CHARACTERS.
Schreave Palace. Sacramento. Province of Sacramento. 2 months and 2 weeks into the selection.
To say that the week had been a trying one for Peter Schreave would have been an understatement. First of all, the palace was preparing for the Thanksgiving feast that would be happening the following week and it seemed like the servants could not think for themselves in this regard. They always had to ask the King's opinion on everything. Peter longed for Trayvon to return to aid him in these matters. Luckily, he was set to be back by Thanksgiving with a representative of the radical right rebels in tow.
In addition, Seraphina's trip to the nightclub with her brother had unforeseen consequences. Peter had wanted to have the ass slapper publicly whipped as a warning to others who would think of disrespecting women. Phina however, was vehemently opposed to any form of corporal punishment and raised serious Hell about it. In the end, Peter had cancelled the whipping and agreed to let the law take its course with the perv on the charge for assaulting Kayden. However, he was so angry with Phina that he needed time away from her. She had deprived him of his right as a king to protect his people and it utterly tore him up.
Besides, he had bigger things to worry about. He was going on a solo date with Eloise Bryant. She had wanted to watch a movie and drink hot chocolate with marshmallows. The hot cocoa he could get behind, but when he learned that she had decided on a really old Disney movie called Encanto, he was crestfallen. Truth be told, Peter just wasn't a big fan of Disney. Nevertheless, it was what Eloise wanted to do for her date and so he would be a big boy and endure it for the chance to get to know her better. Peter sat down in the couch along with Eloise as they prepared to watch the film.
"Oh, I just love Disney movies, don't you?" Eloise asked excitedly.
"Yep, they're the shit." Peter lied as he took a sip of his hot cocoa. Throughout the film, it seemed to Peter like Disney was trying to cater to people of color but Eloise was simply transfixed by the film and kept singing along with all of the songs at the top of her lungs. It took everything that Peter had to shut his mouth and endure. Eventually, the film came to an end and Peter fought back the sigh of relief that was trying to escape from his lips.
"Do you want to watch it again?" Eloise asked as she bounced up and down on the couch like a little schoolgirl instead of the grown ass woman she was supposed to be. "You want to watch it again, I can tell." Peter smiled, but on the inside he was stunned. Was this girl testing him to see how much Disney shit he was willing to put up with it was she just off her rocker. Honestly, both were equally plausible. Thankfully, the king was thrown a lifeline when officer Eisenhower walked into the room and bowed his head.
"I am so sorry to disturb you, your majesty...but his grace, the Duke of Yonkers has sent word of a situation with the rebellion." Eisenhower reported as Peter's face grew serious. He was clearly afraid that his brother's mission had hit a snag as he turned to Eloise.
"I am so sorry Eloise, but I'll have to end our date early...duty calls." Peter declared as he followed his main bodyguard out of the room admits protests from Eloise.
"But Peter!" She yelled with tears in her eyes as the men got a safe distance away before the officer stopped the King in his tracks.
"What did the message say?" Peter asked nervously.
"What message?" Claude inquired as Peter was confused for a moment before realizing that Eisenhower had secured for him a way out of the ghastly Disney movie date.
"You are officially my hero!" Peter exclaimed as he patted the man on the back before heading off for some much needed rest and relaxation.
Later That Day.
After King Peter had taken some time to rest, he wandered amongst the gardens for a few minutes until, as luck would have it, he stumbled upon Savannah Burdne. She was looking up at the sky, minding her own business. Peter smiled as he decided to shoot the breeze.
"I swear Sav, you are a sight for sore eyes." He declared as he sat down next to her.
"Issues with the rebels or solo date gone wrong?" Sav asked, knowing that it was most likely one or the other.
"Solo date gone horribly wrong." Peter clarified as he heaved a sigh. "Eloise Bryant is either punking me or she is certifiable. She never stops with the Disney shit; it's always Disney this and Disney that, it's excruciating!"
"I get it, talking to her is hard." Sav responded.
"It's like she thinks that we're star crossed lovers or something, I wanted to gouge out my eardrums!" Peter griped.
"That'll hurt don't you think?" Sav asked sarcastically.
"She was singing every freaking song during the entire movie…which was an hour and forty-two minutes long." Peter clarified.
"What movie were you two watching?"
"Encanto, she wanted to watch it twice in a row and when Officer Eisenhower tried to get me out of it, she started to cry."
"That's rough." Sav replied as she gently put her arm around her King. "You don't have to listen to me, but if a girl physically annoys you to the point where it's nauseating, maybe she isn't the person to spent your life with?"
"Trust me, I want to eliminate her, but I'm worried of what she might do." Peter pointed out. "Eloise doesn't seem like she's all good upstairs."
"You have a fair point, Eloise is a little girl who needs to grow up." Miss Burdne conceded.
"You're turning me on with that real world view." The King teased as Sav rolled her eyes.
"I'm sure anything would sound sexy after you spent two hours listening to Disney music." She teased.
"Yeah...the problem is that Eloise isn't the only girl who's been giving me shit, did you hear about what happened to Phina?" He asked.
"It was all over the news, some perv got hands on with her and kicked her brother's ass hard." She nodded.
"I wanted to give him 5 lashes for what he did, but Phina gave me Hell and I decided to cancel it and now we aren't speaking because we're pissed at each other." Peter growled as he swatted the grass.
"I understand where both of you come from." Sav insisted. "Personally for me, that dick deserves to rot in jail, but I also don't like corporal punishment. At the end of the day, that is your decision however. Just because people get mad at you for your decisions doesn't mean you have to live up to everyone's expectations of you."
"Thank you…" Peter said with a smile on his face as he tried not to tear up. She had no idea how much needed to hear that.
"It's not a problem." She assured him as she offered the King a smile.
"Sav…would you maybe wanna have dinner with me?" Peter asked hopefully. "If you want to."
"I would love to have dinner with you." Sav agreed as she kissed him on the cheek. "Just make sure to keep the flirting to a minimum."
"Damn." Peter replied with a smirk.
