I DO NOT OWN THE SELECTION SERIES. SHOUTOUT TO ABIZEAU FOR CREATING THIS CHARACTER.
Schreave palace. Sacramento, province of Angeles. 3 months and 5 weeks into the selection.
After Eloise was eliminated, Peter felt a little more at ease now the long dreaded moment had finally passed. Over the next week, he had treated Seraphina Shepherd to a picnic at the beach so that he could spend a few days continuing his search for a new prime minister and he eventually found one.
"You wanted to see me bro?" The Baron of Yonkers said as he entered the king's office.
"I did, I think that I have found the right guy for the prime ministership." Peter replied as he slid a file over to Trayvon who looked it over with a raised eyebrow.
"Horace Miller?" The Baron asked.
"He's a moderate conservative and he's currently the congressman representing the province of Sumner in the King's congress. He condemned both Maxon II and the Radical Right Rebellion. He was one of the few conservatives to survive the primaries." Peter explained.
"That's great and all, but why in the Hell would you choose a conservative as your prime minister bro?" Trayvon asked in confusion.
"Because I think it's what Illèa needs right now." His brother insisted. "If the Radical Right Rebellion proved anything, it's that this country has become too bipartisan. At the end of the day, whether we are liberals or conservatives, we are still Illèans and we need to remember that. With a liberal king on the throne and a conservative prime minister, this will show the country and the world that we can come together for the nation."
"You do realize that he'll probably fight on you on every law you try to pass." Baron Trayvon pointed out.
"That is a risk that I am willing to take if it can reconcile the left and right wing of Illèan politics." King Peter replied as Trayvon heaved a sigh before sliding the folder back to his sovereign.
"If you think this is what's best for Illèa, I'm behind you bro, just be careful." He replied as he walked out of the office.
A few days later.
Sumner Congressman Horace Miller tried to keep his composure as he was ushered into the royal palace. To say that he was surprised to receive a summons from King Peter I was an understatement. Especially during and after the Radical Right Rebellion, Peter had developed a reputation for being a hard line leftist. Horace held onto hope that maybe Peter was hoping to rebuild some of the burned bridges with conservatives in Illèa. It seemed to be a long shot, but Horace always tried to be a glass half full kind of guy. He was shown into the King's office where Peter was personally there to greet him.
"Thank you for coming Congressman Miller." The King said as he shook the congressman's hand.
"Well your majesty, when you summoned me personally, I couldn't very well say no; could I?" The congressman replied as the two men sat down.
"I assume you know why I called you here."
"I have an idea, but I would rather you say it out loud; so that we're both on the same page."
"I am offering you the position of Prime Minister of Illèa." Peter clarified.
"I had a feeling that's what this was about." Horace remarked with a whistle. "Now, you have to understand your majesty: I am a tad bit curious as to why you would want a conservative as your PM; considering that you are a serious liberal."
"Because this nation has become too divided between left and right and that is a problem." Peter insisted. "If we can't put aside petty bullshit and stand together as one people, our enemies will tear us apart. We are stronger when we're United."
"Believe me your majesty, I agree that this bi partisan crap has gone too far and that we need to unite, but I just don't want to see you take a beating in the press and in your own party." Miller explained.
"Trust me Horace, I know what I'm getting myself into." Peter assured him. "I just need someone to take the journey with me; can you do that?" Horace thought about it for a few minutes before making a decision. He had to put king and country first.
"Your majesty, you got yourself a new PM." Horace said with a smile as the two men stood up and shook hands.
Later that day.
While Peter was securing a candidate for the prime ministership, Evalena Sorenson was walking though the palace halls. It was still hard for her to reconcile sometimes. She had once cleaned & served others on this palace. Now she was the one being served and cleaned up after. Eva couldn't tell what would become of her after the selection. She figured that Peter would most likely not choose her as his Queen and she was trying to come to terms with it. She didn't know if she could go back to be a servant though.
As she was walking, she saw Officer Claude Eisenhower taking a smoke break out in the garden. She decided to go out and join him.
"Need a break from guarding the king?" Eva asked softly as he turned to see her.
"Indeed, it has proven to be quite the taxing job these days." Officer Eisenhower commented.
"I can imagine." Eva said quietly as she looked up at the pink sky above as the sun was setting.
"Do you think that his majesty is going to pick you as his Queen?" Claude inquired as Eva took a deep breath.
"To be honest, I don't think so." She admired sadly as she looked at him. "Odds are he's either gonna pick Phina or Sav...maybe Cat because she just sleeps with him whenever."
"He would be a fool because you seem like you would be a good wife." He replied as a small blush appeared across the maid's cheeks.
"Thank you Officer." She replied bashfully as they both watched the beautiful sunset in the royal garden.
