I DO NOT OWN THE SELECTION SERIES. SHOUTOUT TO ABIZEAU AND LOGANPERDUE FOR CREATING THESE CHARACTERS.
Schreave Palace. Sacremento, province of Angeles. 4 months into the selection.
Horace Miller quickly resigned his congress seat and was promptly sworn in as Prime Minister of Illèa. Now that Horace was diving head first into the role and working to pacify the liberals and conservatives on the King's Congress, King Peter had more time to focus on the selection. He took Seraphina Shepherd on a helicopter ride over Sacramento and then 2 days later, decided to go horseback riding with Savanna Burdne. Sav wanted to ride horses, so the two picked a couple of fine stallions and rode off around the palace grounds. They neared the southern edge of the property before they decided to stop and give their horses a rest. Peter dismounted his horse and then helped Sav do likewise. They sat on the grass as the horses grazed.
"It'll be Christmas soon." Peter remarked as he held Sav's hand in his.
"Do you think the selection will still be going on by then?" Sav asked.
"I don't know, it might have been over sooner if that bitch Pyra hadn't shot me." He answered honestly.
"I'm glad she's dead." She remarked as she laced her fingers in his. They were both quiet for a moment as they watched the clouds go by before Peter broke the ice.
"Sav?"
"Yeah?"
"I think...I think that I might be falling in love with you." Peter admitted hesitantly. "Now, I'm not trying to give you false hope because I still have Seraphina and Catalina and I have feelings for them also...but I just wanted you to know how I feel." Sav was hesitant because there were still girls there, and she didn't know if he said that to the others or if it was some kind of test.
"You think, I thought you already knew you'd fallen head over heels in love with me." Sav teased, trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah..." Peter said with a sigh as he looked off. He was worried that she might not feel the same way for him. Sav seemed to catch onto this because she squeezed his hand to get the King's attention.
"Look Peter...I'm going to try and be honest with you." She stuttered as she tries to find the right words. "The thing about my dad...he's not abusive or anything, but it's clear as day that he sees me more as an extension of his political career than a daughter. He spends all of his time running the province and when he does spend time with me, all he talks about is how I need to realize my potential in politics. I never had a choice when it came to entering politics...he never gave me a choice!"
"Sav...I'm so sorry." Peter said softly as he held her close to him while she silently wept. He could tell that she wasn't thrilled about opening up to him; but it meant so much to him that she did it anyway. It gave him hope that maybe she did care about him. Once Sav collected herself, the couple got back on their horses and returned to the stables. When they got back, he took a moment to kiss her gently upon the lips as the moment was just theirs.
Later That day. Peter sighed as he sent a servant to fetch Evalena Sorenson. It was rarely ever pleasant to eliminate someone from a selection, but it was something that had to be done. After all, only one girl could win after all. As Eva was shown in, she curtsied to her King.
"Your majesty, you wanted to see me." Eva replied as he motioned her closer.
"I did indeed." Peter replied as he cleared his throat. "I have decided that I will be eliminating you from my selection." Eva was a bit crestfallen, but kept her composure.
"Oh...I see." She replied with a nod.
"You're a great woman and all...but after careful consideration, we just aren't meant to marry." He explained.
"I understand." Eva said as she put a small smile on her face. She knew that there was no point in making a spectacle of herself.
"What will you do now?" Peter asked.
"What won't I do, to be honest." Eva said with a grin. "I have so many options open to me now. I have so much money from the selection. I could get a better job or maybe go to college!"
"Well, if you ever need help, my door is open." The king vowed as the former servant gave him a hug before curtsying again and leaving his office. As she walked out, she noticed Officer Claude Eisenhower waiting outside at his post.
"I heard what happened, for the record...I think his majesty is a fool for not picking you." He insisted as Eva blushed.
"It's ok, but thank you for the compliment." She replied as she moved to leave.
"Miss Sorenson...his majesty is giving me a night off." Claude stuttered as he looked at the former servant. "I was wondering if maybe you would want to have a cup of coffee...with me?" Eva wasn't sure at first, but now that her life was full of possibilities, she might as well start fresh in the dating scene as well.
"You know what...I'll have that cup of coffee with you." Eva said with a grin on her face.
