Chapter 12
A Webwing! On the surface! What was he doing here and why did he capture Tulsi?
I don't know but I will charge and rip that Webwing's head off if he even dares trying to hurt Tulsi.
Prancer wanted to charge in but Flint held him back and pointed to another Webwing that was walking up to the original Webwing at that moment.
"Let's eavesdrop and listen to what they are doing." Flint said.
"Ok, fine," Prancer said and flew into the bushes where Flint was so they could hear the conversation between the two Webwings. They couldn't see them that well though because of the leaves from the trees around them.
"So can you believe this?" the first Webwing said. "A Drillwing! I thought they were a myth."
"LET ME GO!" screamed Tulsi.
"Shut your snout!" the second Webwing said, "Or I'll rip it off!"
"So what do you want me to do, sir?" the first Webwing said.
"Stay here and guard this Drillwing, I'll go tell the commander what we found," the second Webwing said.
"YES SIR!" the first Webwing piped up.
"Lower that voice!" the second Webwing said. "That won't help you later on."
Prancer heard the second Webwing leaving, making there be only one Webwing out there now.
Now's my chance, I can swoop in, snap the Webwing's neck and save Tulsi. Ok, I'm ready.
Flint seemed to read his thoughts though from his stance.
"Don't kill the Webwing, just knock him out please."
"Oh, come on, why?" Prancer wondered. "They have captured Tulsi, they deserve to die!"
"They are only following orders. It is like you said, if they had their own free will then they may be different."
"Fine," Prancer said. "But if the Webwing tries to kill me, I'm attacking back."
"Just go," Flint said.
Prancer snuck around the bushes till he was behind the Webwing, ready to strike.
Ok here we go, 3…, 2…, 1…, Now!
Prancer jumped out of the bushes and landed on the Webwing's back. The Webwing shrieked in surprise and tried kicking Prancer off but Prancer had practiced enough during his years to get the Webwing on the ground and hold him there. He was about to knock him out when he noticed something on the Webwing's horns that stood out. They were golden rings that were attached to his horns which only certain Webwings were allowed to wear. Webwings which are a part of the royal family.
"Hunter?" Prancer asked, startled, jumping off of his friend and letting him get up.
Hunter turned around and his face beamed up when he saw Prancer.
"Prancer!" Hunter yelled delightedly and hugged Prancer. "I haven't seen you in days! I thought you would leave me a message at the Dragonbite Viper River but it has been a week and there was no sign of a message. What are you doing on the surface?"
"I would ask you the same question but right now I need your help. Can you untie the Drillwing you have captive, she's my friend."
"WHAT! YOUR FRIENDS WITH A DRILLWING?"
"Lower your voice Hunter," Prancer said. "I don't need any other Webwings to find me with you."
"Okay, but you know what would happen if I let this Drillwing go, what would I be able to do to cover it up. It took them a lot of convincing that I didn't help you escape back at the library you know."
I know Hunter, but I really need your help here. She is helping us try to stop the war between the tribes for good."
"Really?" Hunter said. He looked around, as if to make sure no one was watching them. "Could I help you guys?"
"Why do you want to help us?" Prancer asked.
"Because I have wanted to bring peace to the tribes but I have never said it because I'm the queen's son, so not allowed to talk about it. But if there is a chance to stop the war then I want to help!"
"Okay, okay," Prancer said. "Just untie Tulsi and follow me."
"How will I cover this up though?" Hunter said. "They will be looking for me when they come back."
"Hmm," Prancer thought. "I've got it. You can say that I came here and attacked you, which made the Drillwing able to escape. Since I am wanted, they will believe this story. Then you say you want to go back home and then you come find us in the forest to the right of this island," Prancer said, pointing to the direction that he was talking about.
"Ok, got it, and Prancer?" Hunter said
"Yeah?"
"I'm glad to see you're safe."
"You too Hunter," Prancer said and he and Tulsi took to the sky.
They flew to the forest that Prancer found Flint at and Tulsi was happy to see that Flint was alright.
"I'm sorry Flint if I upset you, I didn't mean to hurt you," Tulsi said.
"It's fine," Flint said. "I shouldn't have acted out the way I did, I should have talked to you about it."
"So we're all forgiven?" Prancer said.
Tulsi and Flint though looked at him with stern faces.
"What?" Prancer said.
"You never said that you were friends with a Webwing," Flint said.
"And now you've invited him to join us to help," Tulsi said. "What's stopping him from turning us in?"
"Listen you two," Prancer said. "I know you may be skeptical but Hunter wouldn't betray us, he was the one who helped me escape from Java when they were looking for me. He also helped me train for years when I wasn't supposed to. He's true to his word."
"Let's just hope so," Flint said.
They waited in the forest for a while until they heard a dragon land on the outskirts of the forest.
"Let me introduce him to you, Flint, so that he doesn't freak out."
"Okay," she said.
Prancer walked to the entrance of the forest and saw Hunter standing there nervously.
"So I guess they bought it?"
"Yeah," Hunter said. "I just feel bad for lying to them."
"Don't be Hunter," Prancer said. "When we end this war, it will be worth it."
"Yeah I guess you're right, by the way back there you said that "us" are going to end the war. Who else were you talking about?"
Prancer led Hunter to the opening and he saw Flint and Tulsi.
"Hunter, you already know Tulsi, but meet Flint."
Prancer could see Hunter's face trying to realize what was in front of him and trying to deny it at the same time.
"Um Prancer?" Hunter said.
"Yeah, what is it Hunter?"
"There is a Cavewing standing right in front of us."
"Yeah, I know this is Flint."
Hunter looked at him with disbelief in his eyes.
"Um, I don't know if you heard me, but there IS A CAVEWING IN FRONT OF US!"
"I KNOW HUNTER! SHE IS THE ONE WHO HELPED ME OUT WHEN I ALMOST FELL DOWN A SINKHOLE!"
"BUT SHE IS A CAVEWING!" Hunter protested.
"SO WHAT?" Prancer said. "DIDN'T YOU SAY YOU WANTED TO HELP END THE WAR?"
"YEAH BUT NOT WITH A CAVEWING, THEY ARE THE ENEMY! SHOULDN'T YOU KNOW THAT?"
Prancer saw Flint wince and he got in front of Hunter.
"Listen Hunter, she isn't the enemy and the only reason they attack us is because we are at war with them. If we weren't then we would be living peacefully. Now either deal with her being on the team or leave right now."
Hunter looked at Flint, Tulsi, and then back at Prancer.
"Fine, but I still don't like it."
"You don't have you, all you have to do is work with us." He looked around at the other dragonets that were there. "So, now that we are all together, ready to figure out how we are going to stop this war."
"Yeah," Flint said. "So what about my plan with asking the Drillwings, Tulsi?"
"Uh… Maybe… I."
Prancer brushed his wings across Tulsi's.
"It's okay Tulsi, we're here, nothing will harm you."
"Ok… Well, they may have some things that could help us have a start, but they may also not have anything."
"It's okay Tulsi," Prancer said. "Any lead is a good place to start looking."
Prancer looked at everyone in the circle.
"Come on everyone, let's go stop a war."
They all lifted their wings up and took up to the skies.
