Parasiteshipping (Jonouchi x Haga)
It started when Jonouchi punched him in the face. Haga twisted almost all the way around, nearly losing his glasses. The world spun for a moment. It took a few seconds for Haga to regain his orientation, standing in the middle of a park on a summer afternoon in Tokyo. After the stars stopped popping in front of his eyes and he checked nervously to make sure his glasses weren't cracked, he whirled on Jonouchi with his fists clenched.
"What the hell was that for?" he asked.
Jonouchi rolled his eyes.
"Really? Really? You mean you can't imagine one single reason why you didn't deserve that?"
Haga snarled at the big blond oaf. Jonouchi glared right back.
"One," he said, slowly, as though he though Haga was hard of hearing. "You threw Yugi's cards into the water, nearly causing me to get hypothermia."
"It's not my fault you jumped in, you stupid oaf," Haga muttered.
"Two," Jonouchi continued. "You accepted a duel where you got to kill Yugi if you won."
"It's not like would have actually killed him! What kind of a monster do you think I am?" Haga said.
"Three," Jonouchi said, glaring at Haga even harder as though that would make him shut up. "You stole my duel disk and planted a parasite in my deck so that you could cheat to try and beat me. Does that about sum it up?"
"That was a full twelve months ago," Haga said. "A whole year, you ape. Aren't you supposed to be the good guy and not hold grudges?"
"I ain't Yugi," Jonouchi said darkly.
"Grow up," Haga said.
"Learn some respect."
"For the guy that punched in the face as soon as he saw me?"
"What the hell are you even doing in Tokyo?"
"I could ask you the same thing!"
Fists clenched, eyes shooting lightning bolts, a much taller boy glaring at a much shorter one, the boys were mirror images of each other as they stared each other down. It was like a bad scene out of a shonen anime, a showdown where two people were trying to charge up enough energy for an attack before the other one. Needless to say, all the other people in the park skirted around the pair, whispering and averting their gazes.
"You're making a scene," Haga growled.
"You make a scene by existing, bug boy."
"Is that the best you got?"
Both boys drew their their fists back. The fight probably would have ended badly for Haga. He was much smaller than Jonouchi, and he did not have the experience in street fighting that Jonouchi had. Luckily for him, Jonouchi pulled back.
"Dammit," Jonouchi said, shoving his hands into his pockets. "What am I doing?"
Haga hesitated. What was with Jonouchi all of a sudden? The boy glared sideways, refusing to look at Haga. Haga's hands slowly dropped to his sides.
"This isn't about me, is it?" he said.
Jonouchi's brown eyes snapped up, glaring. Then his face released the angry expression. Suddenly, Jonouchi looked unnaturally tired. His shoulders drooped, his body seemed to cave inward, and his eyes almost seemed to fade.
Haga huffed, still angry. His cheek hurt. He folded his arms.
"Let me guess. I reminded you of something, and you decided to take it out on me."
Jonouchi didn't answer at first. He opened his mouth and closed it again. Then he shook his head.
"Forget it," he said.
He whipped around and started to walk away. Then he stopped.
"Haga, did you ever notice the second Yugi?"
"The what?" Haga said, raising an eyebrow.
Jonouchi didn't turn around. He sighed.
"Sorry," he said.
And slowly, slowly, he slumped away, leaving Haga to wonder just what had happened.
A/N: It's been almost a year since Atem left, and seeing Haga just made Jonouchi snap, I guess. He remembered all the terrible things Haga had done to Atem and Yugi, and just couldn't take it. Stress it getting to him, poor thing. And Haga didn't even know what was going on, poor thing. Next is Paleshipping (Kisara x Amane)
