Chapter 15

"What?!" Prancer asked, startled.

"That's what I was going to tell you," Flint said. "I am confused just as much as you are… Hunter," she said turning around to him, "did you know about this?"

"No, I didn't, I swear, I only thought Webwings were in the group."

"Um, what is the problem here?" Tulsi said.

"Well, Tulsi, we just expected it to be Webwings," Prancer said.

"So what if there are Cavewings in it as well? That just means that there are dragons from both tribes that want to end this war just as much as we do. Come on, let's go down there."

Prancer held Tulsi back. "Now hang on, we can't just go walk down there and expect them to just be fine with us right away. What if they attack us?"

"They wouldn't, like you said, there are Webwings and Cavewings down there, so why would they attack dragons who want to join their group?"

"There are those tribes down there," Hunter said, "but there are no Drillwings Tulsi. What would they do when they see you?"

"Oh," Tulsi said, sounding less excited and lowering her wings. "I guess I didn't think about that, but come on! If they want to end the war between the tribes then they wouldn't mind a Drillwing helping as well?"

"Tulsi," Flint said. "I think you should stay here until we introduce ourselves and tell them why we are here and then we will show you to them. If we just walk in with you, that may cause a panic."

"But I don't wanna stay put! Come on Prancer, I can help!"

"Tulsi, what Flint is saying is for the best of our group, we don't want to ruin our one chance at getting closer to ending the war."

"It's okay Tulsi, we won't be long," Hunter said.

"Actually Hunter," Prancer said, "you should stay here as well."

"What, why?" Hunter asked.

"Well Flint and I don't pose a threat since we will be another Webwing and Cavewing to them, but Tulsi being a Drillwing may panic them but when they see that you're a part of the royal family, that may cause even more of a panic and ruin our chance."

"Fine, I'll stay with Tulsi, just don't be long," Hunter grumbled.

"Be safe!" Tulsi added.

"Thanks, we will," Prancer said and he and Flint both started walking down to where the Cavewings and Webwings were meeting.

Prancer felt his claws twitch when they started to walk towards the group.

It's fine Prancer, these Cavewings are good. They want to end the war, there is no way they would be the ones that killed his sister. Maybe those Cavewings have already been dealt with. Prancer did remember hearing that two Cavewings were caught at the scene and immediately executed. Maybe, but more must have escaped. They're still out there, mocking me about how powerless I am about the situation. Oh, when I get my claws on them, I will make sure it isn't a slow death for them.

Prancer and Flint could hear the voices of the Webwings and Cavewings now as they got closer. They decided to duck behind some rocks and listen to the conversation for a little while.

"Are you sure your reports are right," a Webwing said.

"Yes," said another Webwing. "No Webwing dragonets have been captured recently so he must have gotten away."

They're talking about me! Prancer thought.

"So why do we care about this one dragonet," a Cavewing said. "How can he help us with our mission?"

"Well don't you think it's weird, Lapiz, that the Webwing army would go after one of their own Webwing dragons? He must have known something that the Webwings didn't want to be exposed."

"True," Lapiz said. "But how will we even find out where he went, Tarantula?"

"I can help you with that," Flint said, walking out towards them without giving Prancer a heads up.

The group stepped back, startled before Tarantula turned to talk to Lapiz.

"Did you tell any Cavewing about our organization?" Tarantula asked.

"No! I swore an oath to never tell anyone," Lapiz said.

"It's okay," Flint said. "I'm here to help you."

"How?" Lapiz said.

"Like this," Flint whistled and Prancer knew she meant for him to join them. He hesitantly got up from behind the rock and walked over to where they were standing.

Tarantula and Lapiz had shocked expressions when they saw Prancer.

"You're that Webwing the army is searching for!" Tarantula said.

"Yeah I am," Prancer said nervously. "I overheard you saying that you were looking for me. Why do you want to find me?"

"You two," Lapiz said, pointing to the other Webwing and Cavewing there. "Go get the leader, she needs to know."

"Wait, why does the leader need to know about me?" Prancer asked as the other two dragons went away.

"She'll explain it when she gets here but for now, would you tell us how you got here and who your Cavewing is?"

"Sure," Prancer said. "This is my friend Flint, she helped me escape when I was being chased."

"That was nice," Lapiz said before turning to Flint. "Thank you for saving him."

"Oh it was nothing, I would have saved anyone who would have been in his situation."

"Well thank you anyway," Lapiz said. "So you two want to join our group to end the war. That's why you're here right?"

"Yeah except it isn't just the two of us," Prancer said and beckoned Tulsi to come down first.

Tulsi slowly walked down to them and hugged next to Prancer when she got there.

Tarantula and Lapiz's eyes lit up and they seemed to be bouncing with so much excitement that Prancer thought they would explode out of happiness.

"It's a Drillwing! See I told you Lapiz that they weren't extinct!" Tarantula was hopping all over the place.

"Oh my, look at it! She looks so amazing!" Lapiz was examining Tulsi's curled horns and sharp wings.

Tulsi looked super nervous with these two dragons bouncing around her and moved closer to Prancer.

"Hey, hey, could you two give her some space." Prancer looked down at Tulsi to assure her it would be all right. "She doesn't exactly like dragons bouncing all over her."

Tarantula and Lapiz stopped in their tracks and backed up to allow Tulsi some room.

"Sorry," Lapiz said. "It's just that it is a wonder to see that Drillwings are real."

"Hey what's going on down here," Prancer heard Hunter say and immediately knew that this situation was about to go from good to bad. Prancer saw it on Tarantula and Lapiz faces before they responded.

"GET BACK!" Tarantula yelled, putting himself in front of Prancer, Flint, and Tulsi. "Royal Webwing, what are you doing here?!"

"Don't ask him," Lapiz said. "ATTACK HIM RIGHT NOW!"

"Wait!" Prancer said, jumping in front of the two charging dragons. "He's not an enemy, he is our friend."

"HA!" Tarantula laughed. "You can't be serious that you made friends with a member of the royal family. Those dragons are spoiled and snotty and will turn you in, if it means it makes them look good."

"I MEAN IT!" Prancer yelled. "He wouldn't betray us, he is working undercover for us."

Tarantula looked at Hunter and thought about it for a moment.

"Fine, but the first sign of trouble with him and he's gone."

"I promise you will have no trouble with me," Hunter said but went quiet when Tarantula and Lapiz looked over at him.

One of the Webwings that Lapiz sent for came back into the cavern and whispered something to her.

"Prancer," Lapiz said. "Follow me, the leader said she wanted to speak with you alone."

"Wait, why alone? Can't my friends come along?"

"They can come after," Lapiz said. "The leader wants to talk to you without any distractions."

"Don't worry Prancer," Flint said. "We'll be fine."

"Okay," Prancer said and followed Lapiz out of the cavern. They went down many winding tunnels to a point where Prancer was wondering where Lapiz was taking him. They then entered into a web that hid an underground pond behind it. Sitting in front of the lake was a Webwing with her back turned. Prancer most likely assumed this was the leader.

"You brought him?" the leader asked.

"Yes, your majesty," Lapiz said.

"Good, now leave the room and let us be alone."

"Are you sure?" Lapiz said.

"Yes," said the leader.

Lapiz exited the web which left Prancer and the leader alone.

"So, why did you want to talk to me alone?" Prancer asked.

"There are many reasons why I wanted to talk to you alone, but one reason stands out from the rest."

The leader turned around and Prancer was able to see her fully. Her scales were a bright gray that matched her four wings. She seemed to have battle scars all around her body like she had been in fights. She stood with a hint of authority around her but what stood out to Prancer the most was her face. Her eyes were the color of the ocean and Prancer knew the only Webwing that ever had those blue eyes. His thought to be dead sister, Ocho.
