AN: I kind of lost all track of time in the last two weeks so I am sorry about that. I've been dealing with an ear infection and just…meh. But here, enjoy a double post.
"How the fuck did you get me out of the dirt so easily?" Sasuke demanded, looking at the hole that was already filling in with misplaced dirt.
Naruto rolled his eyes and groaned softly. "Oh for all that's holy…" he sighed, shaking his head. "It's one of the basics that we learned about in the academy. If you have enough control over your chakra, you can focus it into your hand, grab your companion and pull them free. The same can be done by the person who is trapped," he stated, staring Sasuke before shaking his head once more and turning to where he had heard the screams come from. "I need to go make sure he didn't traumatize her to much. My tutor warned me that Kakashi-san is rough when it comes to these tests."
"And just what is that supposed to mean?" Sasuke asked, following after his younger teammate, scowling at the thought of the other male knowing something more than him. It was really starting to get annoying even knowing that he had a tutor helping him learn things.
"It means that Kakashi-san isn't one to pull a punch just because she's a girl, much less one of the smartest kunoichi of our class. He doesn't care about that, what he cares about is how you handle yourself when faced with something horrific," Naruto said, bounding up into the trees, Sasuke joining him and frowning heavily to himself.
They landed in the field that Sakura was laid out in, looking as if she had indeed seen something horrific and fainted because of it. Naruto just sighed and knelt down next to her, tapping her on the head and dodging out of the way when she came up with a punch. "Sasuke!" she screeched, making the two males wince and rub their ears at the sharp sound.
"Damn it all, girl! Do you have to announce our position to the whole of the village? I think they heard you in Suna," Naruto hissed, standing straight and brushing off his pants with a scowl. "Geeze, you'd think you would remember all that you learned, but no." He grumped. "I bet he used a genjutsu on you and you fell for it. Probably something to do with Sasuke. What God did I piss off in my short life to get you two as my teammates? Cause I want to suck up to them for this shit."
"You're no consolation prize yourself," Sasuke hissed, Naruto just rolling his eyes. "Now tell us why you're not trying for the bells. I would have thought that you would be going after Kakashi and getting your ass handed to you."
Naruto snorted and rubbed at his temples, wondering for a moment if he had really been that bad before his tutor had gotten a hold of him. Yeah, he was still happy and bright and loud but that had slowly been subdued under Sparrows careful watch. But one would think that even after the changes in him and actually paying attention in class for the last few months that his teammates would have noticed. "You two are oblivious idiots," he groaned, rubbing at his face. "If I attacked him, it wouldn't get my anywhere. I'm a genin and even I can admit to that fact. He is an elite jounin who has jutsus that we can only dream of right now. So, no, I'm not going to attack him but work on trying to just get the damn bells." He paused and frowned, something just on the edge of his thoughts, something that his tutor had told him about the tests.
"You idiot," Sakura growled, getting shushed as Naruto tried to remember what Sparrow had told him about the tests.
"Aww, fuck it all to hell. We're gonna fail," Naruto whined, rubbing at his face as he rubbed at his face. "We'll end up going back to the academy and I'll be stuck with you two again until they finally get the hint that we just don't work together," he whimpered. "Which God do I have to suck up to, to get through this day in one peace?"
"What are you talking about, you idiot?" Sakura hissed, cracking her knuckles and getting an unimpressed look from Naruto as he ran his hand over his hair, sighing softly.
"I mean that you're not thinking like shinobi and what the different levels of being one are, along with all that they entail," Naruto stated, shaking his head. "You don't think there's a reason why we were put on a three man team? Cause there is if you think about it," he continued, sighing quietly. "Look, it's not about the bells," he started before scowling at the dual snorts from his supposed teammates. "Fine. You know what, I'll tell you after we lose this shit and someone is tied up to the posts. You don't want to listen? I'm not going to give myself a headache trying to convince you two. We have," he said, checking the slim watch that sat on his wrist, "about thirty minutes before the bell goes off. Until such a time, I'm going to give Kakashi-san a run for his money."
Leaving the two, Naruto shook his head as he listened to Sakura complain about idiots and why she was stuck with him as her teammate and how he would drag them down. He noticed that Sasuke wasn't saying a word but was thinking about something or another in his mind. Shaking his head, he noted that he could just barely feel Kakashi and had a feeling that was on purpose as part of the test that was going on. He decided to lay a few wire traps and some low level explosive traps, not wanting to do much more than surprise the silver haired nin and give himself enough time to move around as needed.
As Naruto was perching in a tree, he paused before making several clones, sending them off to lay more traps than what he had already put up, shaking his head. "You'd think I'd remember to use all of my tools at my disposal. Wasn't that the first thing that Sparrow drilled into my head?" he huffed, just barely above a whisper as his clones fanned out.
Checking his watch, he winced when he felt a clone pop out of existence, the memories that came with it telling him that it had been Kakashi finding him finishing with a trap that had taken it out. Shaking his head, he smirked as one of his traps were triggered by Kakashi, the explosion loud and bright but ultimately not harmful to the forest around them or to Kakashi himself.
"Well this is going to be interesting," Naruto huffed, bounding off once more, blue eyes scanning as he hunted for a proper spot to perch for the moment. Landing on a branch, he took a slow breath and sat on it, crossing his legs before closing his eyes, reaching out with just a tendril of chakra and checking on his supposed teammates, finding Sakura on her own branch but with Sasuke nearby. He couldn't feel Kakashi any more though.
Letting out his breath, he groaned and rubbed at his neck. He still wasn't the best at sensing other's chakra's, but his tutor kept telling him that he was learning and getting ahold of it faster than most genin who were learning the same thing. "You're doing pretty good." Naruto yelped and nearly fell off of his branch, head jerking up to stare at Kakashi, who just smiled from behind his mask and waved at him.
"I would have thought you would have been out there tormenting Sakura or reburying Sasuke again," Naruto said, frowning and shifting onto his feet just in case.
"Oh, but that's no fun. I thought you would have done something before now though," Kakashi mused, Naruto shrugging one shoulder. "But I saw that you tried to speak with them but decided not to. Why?" he asked.
Naruto snorted and gave him a look that was easily read as 'dumbass' before he shifted on the balls of his feet once more. "Because they don't want to listen. Sometimes you just have to let the idiots get their ass handed to them before you can actually get them to listen to you." He shrugged once more and smirked. "So that's what I'm doing. They don't want to listen to me, maybe they will after all of this is said and done."
"Ah, I see. So, I really should attack you now," Kakashi mused, pulling out a kunai and holding it tightly, blinking when Naruto reached out and snapped a wire before waving and jumping away. "Oh he's good," he snorted as he hid his eyes from the flash and bang of the trap as the young blond escaped with a laugh. "You'd think that I would learn not to mess with a prankster when he's been able to set shit up." Rubbing at his eyes, he shook his head and moved from his crouched position just as the timer went off. "Time to tie someone up against a post."
He looked entirely to happy at that prospect.
