Metal clashed on metal. Blades deflecting and attacking the other, causing a sound unique to that of a duel. Both were moving far too fast for a regular eye to see. Only when the blades locked together was someone able to see them. Not for the people fighting however, as they were able to see each other clearly and precisely
Adam and Jayden clashed their respective swords together, causing them to lock
"You know, I have to say that I'm throughly impressed brother. I see you haven't been lacking in Iaido any." Adam struggled said to Jayden, who released a strained chuckle
"You'd be surprised how easy it is to keep up with you." Jayden remarked back. Their blades were starting to get red hot with all the strain and friction put on them
"Well then, allow me to change that!" Adam shouted at Jayden playfully before deflecting Bloom into the ground and swinging Wilt at Jayden's face
Jayden quickly flipped away to avoid being hit by Adam and sheathed Bloom. He channeled his built up energy into Bloom and waited for Adam to draw near, which he did. Jayden quickly unsheathed Bloom and swung it in the same motion, causing what looked to be a multitude of slashes to happen all around his body
Adam barely managed to block in time, which resulted in him getting knocked back a few feet
"I see you've also been practicing your swordsmanship too." Adam said with a smile, genuinely happy that Jayden didn't let his hand to hand training take a priority
"Yeah well, I wasn't gonna fall behind you, brother." Jayden said after he sheathed Bloom
"In that case, you better get ready. Because the real fight begins now!" Adam claimed
"Okay. Let's dance!" Jayden exclaimed to Adam, crouching down in his stance and grabbing the hilt of Bloom
They stood at a stand off, looking at one another, both ready for the other to make the first attack. That was until Adam had enough of that and charged at Jayden
Jayden quickly deflected Adam's strike into the air and took a swing at Adam himself, only for Adam to backflip away from his attack
Jayden sheathed Bloom and rushed Adam, hoping to take advantage of his disadvantageous position. Adam blocked the strikes, but wasn't able to parry them. Jayden delivered a few strikes before dragging his blade across the ground, giving it more energy before bringing it up to slash Adam. Adam, however, saw this coming and blocked the strike, causing him to slide backward
Jayden then brought the blade down on Adam's guard, causing it to break for the smallest of seconds, but long enough for Jayden to get one quick slice in
Adam then disarmed Jayden by hitting Bloom with the stored up energy in Wilt, causing it to fly from Jayden's hand. Bloom shattered a boulder behind Jayden before finally resting in the ground
Jayden looked backward at his blade and shrugged, deciding he wouldn't need it
"Show me a good time, Adam!" Jayden proclaimed as he put his hands in front of him
Adam, in response, sheathed Wilt and crouched down into his stance. Jayden walked around Adam, who did the same, before lifting his right hand above his head and charging at Adam, who was not expecting the charge to be so fast. Jayden grabbed Adam's face, lifted him in the air, then slammed his head into the ground before throwing him in the air again
Jayden spun around and kicked Adam as he was about to hit the ground, making him skid across the rough grass. Jayden looked back at Adam, who shook his head and stood back up
Adam, in kind of Jayden's bold rush, charged at Jayden. Adam went to slash Jayden's chest, but was dodged by the person in question. Adam then put both hands on Wilt and went to slam Wilt down on Jayden's head with blinding speed, which would have suceeded had Adam accounted for the fact that Jayden was just as fast, if not faster, than Adam
Jayden caught Adam's red blade in between the palms of his hands. Adam was surprised at first, but then began pushing downward with all of his strength, with Jayden pushing upward with all his strength and holding Wilt with as much grip as he could, causing sparks to fly from where his hands met the blade and the area to heat up immensely
Adam paused before shoving down again, making Wilt go past Jayden's hand and slice his chest, which his aura protected. Jayden stumbled backward and look at Adam, who was still in the same position as he was when he pushed Wilt past Jayden's hands
"Now we're talking!" Jayden exclaimed before walking backward, where Bloom was located and pulled it out of the ground. Jayden pointed the tip of the blade at Adam before dropping down into a Kendo stance
"Unfortunately brother... it'll have to wait till next time." Adam said with a breath in between, showing just how tired Adam was from this fight
"Had enough?" Jayden asked mockingly, flicking whatever dirt or stains got onto Bloom off and sheathing it
"Don't get me wrong, I could keep going, but we've been out here for a while now. And just look at our surroundings." Adam said Jayden, who did exactly that
The plateau that they chose to have their duel on was completely destroyed. The few trees that were up there were split in two, the grass had patches missing because of how fast they were moving and their blades, and the boulders were cut in two as well or split into pieces
"Well, when two people equal in skill clash, this is usually to be expected." Jayden stated, pointing to their surroundings
"Equal in blade skill. It is very obvious that, compared to you, I have a lot to learn in hand to hand. I wasn't expecting you to come up to me and slam me into the floor like that, then throw me into the air and kick me several feet across the grass." Adam said to Jayden as they started walking back to the White Fang HQ in Vale
"Well, you can thank Yang for that. I took some notes when she slammed me into that wall, flipped me over her back, and slammed me into the floor, y'know." Jayden said to him
"Speaking of which, are you sure it was necessarily a good idea to send her of all people to contact Roman?" Adam asked Jayden, who put a hand to his chin and seemingly thought about it
(Meanwhile)
"Oh, I fucked up. I fucked up, hard." Roman muttered as he sat behind a metal table to shield himself from Yang's wrath
Roman looked over the table for a second to see a grunt that he borrowed from Juniors club get his lights knocked out so hard, he broke the cement floor when he hit it
"Oh god, how am I supposed to fight that?! She's more likely to break Melodic Cudgel than it actually protect me!" Roman shouted as he hid behind the metal table again
The table, however, didn't last long sadly as Yang kicked it into the air
"Sounds like a YOU problem!" Yang shouted as she decked Roman in the face
"AAAAAAA!"
(Back to Jayden and Adam)
"Totally." Jayden said with almost no hesitation
"That's intriguing to me, but I won't question it. Besides, knowing Yang, she'd probably break Roman's weapon getting to him. And body slam me afterwards." Adam responded
"Yeah..." Jayden trailed off
Jayden still couldn't get ahold of his feelings for Yang. He loved her, sure. But he wasn't sure if it was brotherly love, or something more. It made him confused. Still though, he didn't worry about as much as he thought he would. He remembered the day he met Yang
How Sienna told them that a mercenary was hired into the White Fangs ranks. That they said they were okay with that. How Sienna told Jayden and Adam she wasn't what they were expecting
Jayden shook his head. He didn't need to think about past events right now, while they could so easily be attacked by Grimm
It could wait till they were back at camp
"So let me get this straight. You walked in, demanded that Roman started stealing supplies for us... and when he refused, you started punching everyone in sight that wasn't our troops." Adam said to Yang as he held a hand to his face
"Yep." Yang replied simply with a smile on her face and her hands behind her back
"And when they started fighting back, you only punched them harder and quite possibly caused brain damage in more than a few if they didn't have it already?" Adam asked
"That's right." Yang again replied simply, not even moving an inch or wiping that smile off her face
"On top of this, you were constantly throwing insults at Roman, who was in so much fear that he was scared to move, so that he would come out and try to fight you so you could knock him out." Adam said to Yang, who was still holding the same smile and position
"That is absolutely correct." Yang said cheerfully
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but, even though you knew who Roman was, you didn't know that he would chicken out in that situation." Adam said slowly
"I don't see anything wrong with that." Yang said cheerfully
"There's nothing wrong with it right now, but you do realize that you could've FUCKED THE ENTIRE OPERATION, HAD ROMAN NOT BEEN A LITTLE BITCH!" Adam yelled as he showed his anger about this matter
"She said she'd get it done, we didn't bother to question why, so I feel that's a fault on our part." Jayden said to Adam, who had taken a few deep breaths to calm down
"Yeah, but she could've been more cautious about it." Adam said as he held the bridge of his nose in anger. Jayden shrugged
"I mean, that is true, but we don't have to worry about that now." Jayden said to Adam
"Yeah, I don't care anymore. I'm just gonna go lay down in my bed before I get anymore bad news." Adam said, walking away
Jayden looked to Yang, who looked at Jayden. The both quickly look away upon seeing the other stare at them. Jayden takes a deep breath and looks back at Yang
"Would you like to-" Both Jayden an Yang cut themselves off upon hearing the other
"Oh, you go first." Jayden said to Yang
"No no, it's okay, you go first." Yang replied
"I insist, you go first." Jayden replied to Yang's reply
"In that case, I double insist you go first." Yang said to Jayden, who smirked
"So we're doing this now." Jayden stated
"Jayden, I swear, if you don't go first, I'm gonna hit you across the camp." Yang said to Jayden, who put his hands up in surrender
"Alright, alright. I was gonna ask you if you wanted to go around and hang out tomorrow. We don't have anything planned for tomorrow, since the lack of resources, so I was thinking we just go ahead and take a walk around town." Jayden said to Yang, who's eyes lit up
"I would love too. And weirdly enough, that's exactly what I was gonna ask you." Yang said to Jayden, who chuckled lightly
"Anyway, I'm supposed to be meeting with Lou some time today. I don't wanna disappoint, so I have to bid my farewell to you. See ya later Yang." Jayden said as he walked off
"Yeah... I'll see you later as well, Jayden."
Jayden woke up the next morning with a massive headache. He'd decided that it was the best of ideas to lay down all day and try to figure out what happened. So, Jayden got up off his bed and put on his clothes not soon after. After he was done with that, he grabbed Bloom and Scatter from the corner of his tent and walked out
As he walked out of the tent, he was greeted with the usual blood red of the forest. That was until a yellow blob knocked him onto the ground. Jayden quickly grabbed whoever's hand it was and dragged them down with him. Once on the ground, Jayden flipped over onto them and restrained their hands. Jayden, however, didn't account for the fact that this was Yang, of whom he now had restrained on the ground
"Well, if you wanted me that bad, you could've just said so." Yang said in a flirtatious tone, hoping to embarrass Jayden, which worked
"Shut up." Jayden bluntly said as he got off of her
"Be careful with that tone, or you might turn into your brother." Yang joked
"Oh, ha ha. As if the headache wasn't bad enough, I don't need to be turning into the blunt man that is my brother." Jayden said
"Headache?" Yang questioned as she got up herself
"Yeah. I suspect it might because of a hangover, but I'm not sure. It could be because I didn't sleep good last night." Jayden said to her
"Interesting. Anyway, where did you wanna go today?" Yang asked as she looked around, referring to the offer that was made yesterday
"Let's go into the forest. It seems beautiful to me today." Jayden answered Yang
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go." Yang said walking off into the forest
Jayden chuckled and smiled before walking after her
In the Forever Fall forest, laughter could be heard. Laughter between two people who were genuinely having fun just hanging out with each other
"No way Adam did that!" Yang exclaimed as she struggled to hold onto her breath
"He did. He didn't even hesitate either." Jayden said with the biggest smile on his face
"I didn't think he was one for food fights." Yang remarked
"Neither did I. But, I think that, somewhere down in his hard exterior, is that side of him who can actually have some fun." Jayden said as he looked out at the red forests
"Well, for what it's worth, your brother is fighting for the right things. I just don't agree with the methods to do it. Even if it is fun to fight people." Yang said as she leaned back
Jayden considered her words, which of course he agreed with. He loved fighting, but didn't agree that violence was the only answer to stop faunus racism. Of course, it was unavoidable. Be it bandits like the ones the day Adam killed someone for the first time or someone actively aiming to stop this way of thinking so they can continue to use faunus, fighting for their cause was bound to happen at some point or another
Jayden just didn't like how Adam was constantly insisting on initiating the fight first. Yang was similar, but Jayden could see differences. Like how Yang would be peaceful unless a fight broke out. And while, yes, Jayden was Adam's brother, there were lines that could be crossed
"I think we've sat here long enough, don't you?" Jayden asked
"Actually, there's one last thing I wanted to tell you. I was planning on leaving the White Fang soon. Probably next mission." Yang said to Jayden, who turned to Yang with a concerned look on his face
"It isn't because of my brother, is it?" Jayden questioned
"Well, yes and no. When I left Vale, I was told I could come back and join Beacon Academy whenever I felt ready by the headmaster there. Well, Beacon's about to start another year and I wanna go. On the other hand, I don't wanna stick around Adam and witness him cause more violence and possibly kill another person." Yang told Jayden, who looked out at the sunset with a blank face
He understood, but he wasn't sure if he could make the choice of going with Yang or staying with Adam
"I understand." Jayden said blankly
"Jayden... you should know that Blake is coming with me as well." Yang said to Jayden who stood up
"I understand." Jayden repeated
"You're... also welcome to come with me." Yang said hesitantly
"That, I will need to think about Yang. You may want to finally go to Beacon and become a huntress, but I have a dream to make this world a better place for the faunus. And I wouldn't say by any means necessary, but the violence does help. It makes people willing to listen to us and actually talk things out. Violence may not be the way of going about this goal, but it has played a part in helping us actually get what we want. A world were faunus and man are equal." Jayden told Yang, which surprised her
"But, you'd killing innocent people. And you'd be advocating for that." Yang rebutted
"Don't mistake my words for something they aren't. I said the violence helped. If anything, I'd rather see things switch into the more diplomatic way of doing them. Even if it may be slow." Jayden said, leaving Yang speechless for a second
They sat there in an uncomfortable silence. The red forest didn't seem so calm now. It seemed to scream at Jayden. That it was wrong to be upset at this, and it made him feel guilty
'Is that even what I feel? Upset? The only reason I'm upset in the first place is because of my brother. So, I guess I am upset. But not in the way I thought I was." Jayden thought as he continued to stare out into the Forever Fall forest with the sun setting in the background, giving of a light that could only be described as ethereal
"Well, we must be getting back. It'll be dark soon and Grimm will be upon us shortly." Jayden said as he stood up and dusted himself off
Yang didn't say anything as she stood up herself. Jayden did feel bad. This was only meant as a way for the two to hangout with each other. Yet, they weren't leaving with that in their minds
"And Yang." Jayden added to his sentence
Yang perked up and looked up at Jayden with blank eyes and expression
"For what it's worth, I'll think about that offer."
I figured y'all deserved a chapter today, even if it was a small one. God, I seriously am sorry to the deepest extent possible that it has been so long since I updated a story, much less one that's not the one that you could say I'm known for
I may go back to working on Adam's Redemption, but I've been feeling like writing chapters to my other story. I may actually continue the male reader story next. Who the fuck knows because I'm so indecisive when it comes to doing something like writing sometimes
Anyway, that's all for now. And again, I am sorry
Love y'all and see ya later!
