Her head ached, she could hear voices talking above her, she was horizontal on a bed soft yet firm. Feeling strange she wondered whether to keep her eyes shut or open them. "Ro darlin', come on baby, wake up." She heard one say, the feeling one of the men holding and rubbing her hand softly she decided to brave it and opened her eyes, opening them she saw two men, very strange looking men...
One looked slightly normal, wild black hair, white skin, greyish brown eyes, and the other was... anything but normal. So far from normal that he looked just about like a blue version of bigfoot, she jumped a little, but did her best to keep her reactions under control, her head ached suddenly. She raised her hand to her head where the pain came from, her face scrunched up slightly from the pain.
"Easy 'Ro, don't touch it darlin." She looked to the man who'd spoken, he looked concerned, what happened to her?
"What happened, where am I?" she asked looking around,
"It's ok Storm, you're in the med lab, it appears that you were shot, thankfully it only grazed your head, you may have a concussion, but other than that you seem fine." She stared blankly at the talking beast, not sure If she should thank him or jump off the bed and run, probably both now that she thought about it more.
But why did these two, umm... man and beast seem so worried about her, that was a good question, maybe she should ask about it.
"Uh, thank you... w-who are you?" At her question both of them went pale, even the blue one.
Logan couldn't believe his ears,
"Who are you?" She asked, he could feel all the color drain from his face, if he was even a little lesser of a man he might've passed out from shock, it was a good thing that he was sitting on the side of her bed.
"Oh my." Hank said beside him, he looked to the blue mutant, eyes broadcasting a hundred things, the most prevalent of them being fear and anger.
Ororo wasn't sure what to think of them looking toward each other, was she supposed to know these... people? Looking back to her the Doctor did his best to answer her.
"I am Doctor Hank McCoy, and this is Logan, surely you remember something about us?" She shook her head in response,
"No, I'm afraid I do not." Logan adjusted himself slightly,
"Am I supposed to know you?" She asked head turned slightly at an angle, almost like you'd see in a curious animal,
"Know us? Yes, we are friends of yours... I am a friend of yours, the same can be said for Logan, but in a different way..." She looked to him, seeing his eyes she was perplexed, they were a dark greyish brown, and seemed to be hiding something,
"What are you to me then?" He froze, unsure of what to tell her, he was her friend, he was also her confidante, mentor, teammate, biggest fan, lover, husband, etc.
Unsure of what his lack of a response was supposed to mean she got off the bed and started to walk, then suddenly felt dizzy and temporarily lost her balance, it scared her when the man who could not give her an answer was at her side in a millisecond holding her up. Her eyes showed shock and fear as he held her, he picked her up in one swoop as if she was a feather and put her back on the bed.
"Try not to move Ororo, we will make sure that you come through this whole." Ororo, was that her name?
"Why do you call me Ororo?" She asked him, he looked at her realizing she really didn't remember.
"That's your name, Ororo Munroe Howlett." She thought for a moment, it didn't ring a bell to her at all, not in the slightest way, she sat there looking strangely at the two characters staring awkwardly. Suddenly looking angry the black-haired pale skinned one turned and marched out of the room.
"Um, excuse me a moment please." The blue furred mutant asked as he followed the man out hurriedly. Ororo looked around the room, it was a medical room, supplies and equipment was organized around it. A minute after the two strange people went out of the room she decided it was as good a time as any to get out of there. So, she did as she felt was right, she went to the door and listened, hearing nothing she went out and looked. There was no one there, where had they gone? What did they want? She didn't have answers, but what she did have was an opportunity, the opportunity of escape and she was going to take it.
She crept out of the room and into the hallway looking this way and that as she moved, realizing she was alone in what she hoped was all that hallway she quietly sprinted toward the window hoping to be able to climb out and get away from these characters. Getting to it she looked out, it wasn't too high up, but she could climb down, opening the hatch she stuck one leg out and was almost there with her upper body when,
"Storm?" She looked down the hall, there was a girl coming down the hall toward her, she paused for a moment.
"What are you doing?" The redhead asked, not sure how to respond Ororo asked her a question.
"Who is this Storm?" The other girl stopped in her tracks realizing the situation.
"You must've gotten a pretty nasty knock to the head huh." The dark skinned woman wasn't sure what the other woman was talking about.
"You mean something happened to me?" She asked the other woman,
"Mm-hm," The redhead said nodding,
"Do you know what it was?" Ororo asked back, Jean shook her head,
"No, all I know is that Logan rushed in here a little while ago and almost ran over a bunch of us to get you to the medical room." She didn't recall any of this.
"Who is Logan?" She asked the girl in front of her who nearly choked on air at the question.
"It's like I'm supposed to know but I... just do not remember..." Catching her breath and refixing herself from her coughing she looked up at her.
"You don't... *cough* you don't know?..." She asked knowing it was a dumb question but she couldn't believe her ears. She couldn't imagine herself forgetting Scott, even if she did lose her memory, and they'd only been together for a few years.
"No, I do not." She responded wondering why this girl was stumbling all over herself.
"He... he's your husband." At this news Ororo's expression softened slightly.
"My husband?" She asked, part of her knew the girl was right, but part of her needed reassuring, though it would explain why he acted the way he did a few minutes ago.
"Yeah, you guys are really close." How close she didn't know how to tell her though, there's some things you just can't put into words, you know how to think it in your head, but coming out your mouth was a different story.
"Are we?..."
"Yes, in fact I don't even know how to say just how close..." Her mind raced with thoughts of what to do, then one of the first thoughts came to the forefront and she spoke to her friend.
"Hey, let's go see the Professor, I'm sure he can sort this all out." Jean said motioning for them to go to him.
"Who's this Professor?" The black woman asked.
'damn, she doesn't even remember him?...' Jean thought unsure of how to handle this, but like all times when she wasn't sure how to handle something in their affairs she sent a message to the man.
'Professor?'
'Yes Jean?'
'Um... I think Storm's lost her memory...'
'What? How do you mean?'
'She doesn't remember me, Logan, or even you! I think something happened to her, she's got a bandage on the side of her head, maybe she got hit with something...'
'Hm, I see, bring her to my office.'
'We're on our way.' She responded ending the telepathic communication.
Ororo looked at her strangely upon ending the mind conversation she was having with her mentor.
"What was that?" She looked at her interested in what she was just doing.
"Oh that?... well... this school is a place for people who have special powers..." she never imagined she'd have to explain this to Storm, she was one of the first ones who explained it to her when she first came to the mansion, but regardless she did her best to explain it to the older woman.
"What kind of powers?" Storm asked intrigued now,
"Well, I have telepathy, and telekinesis... um... you see that plant over there?" Jean asked pointing to the plant alongside the hall, Ororo looked to it, then back at the girl.
"Watch." She then reached toward it a little and the look of focus came over her, Ororo looked to the plant and was slightly shocked to see it start to float one then two feet up into the air with nothing to support it.
"That's my gift." She said putting it back into its original position.
"You have gifts to." She said to her, Ororo raised an eyebrow to the other girl.
"Me?" She asked curiously.
"Yeah you! You can manipulate the weather." At this Ororo tilted her head and raised her other eyebrow along with the one that was already raised.
"I manipulate weather?" Ororo asked.
"Yeah, ok so try to get slightly upset, not too much but enough to where you can feel the irritation." Ororo's expression started to morph as she thought of something Jean didn't know, suddenly the clouds started to come over the sky and soon it was darker than it had been a moment ago.
"See, that's all you." The older woman had a hard time believing this, but then turned back to the girl.
"How do I undo it?" She asked not wanting to ruin the day for the others that were outside.
"You just think of something that makes you happy." Ororo did or tried to anyway, she was too confused for the most part to be all that happy right now, but the clouds parted a little bit. Some of the kids outside who were upset about the changing weather resumed what they were doing before deciding everything was fine.
"Wow... I did that?..." She asked shocked at herself.
"Yes, that was all you." She said just then getting a mental nudge from the Professor to bring her to his office, they started walking toward the stairs to go up to his room.
