Noteshipping (Anzu x Jonouchi x Honda)
The note bounced across her desk. There was a distinct tightening in her shoulders and hands, but she ignored it. The originator of the note, a certain blond haired boy towards the back of the room who wasn't wearing his uniform right, cringed. Of all the desks it could have landed on...damn, he hoped she wouldn't read it. The intended recipient of the note, a certain boy with spiky brown hair who also wasn't wearing his uniform right, sent his friend a grimace. Tough luck, man, he seemed to be saying.
Don't read it, don't read it, don't read it...
Maybe she would just continue ignoring it. Maybe...
No such luck. She finished off a line with an unnecessary puncture of the page, and set her pencil down. She picked up the hastily folded note and slowly started to unwrap it. The blond boy slunk down in his seat as her eyes flicked across the message. Then her slender hand went into the air.
"Sensei, someone is passing notes."
The teacher sighed, came down the aisle, and took the page. He glanced over it.
"Boys, boys, boys, if you don't want to get caught, you shouldn't write your names on the notes," the teacher said, shaking his head. "Jonouchi-san, Honda-san, please go down to the office."
Jonouchi growled at the back of his throat. He waited just as long as he possibly could before getting in more trouble. Then he shoved out of his seat and slouched up the aisle.
"Bitch," he hissed at her as he passed.
Anzu Mazaki just raised her eyebrows at him. Honda bumped into her table on purpose, sending her notes to the ground.
"Have fun at the office," she told both of them.
The note bounced across her desk. The teacher's eyes moved across the room, but didn't see the note, because she quickly palmed it and slid it under the desk. When the teacher looked back at the board, she caught Honda's glance back and rolled her eyes. He grinned. She smiled back.
She unwrapped the note.
Since Yugi's sick today, we should go crash his house after school. You wanna come? – Honda
Anzu scribbled a "yes" onto the paper, folded it up again, and – at just the right moment – tossed it surreptitiously at Jonouchi's feet. He made a show of "accidentally" knocking his pencil off his desk, and when he reached down to pick it up again, he took the note too.
He glanced up to meet Anzu's and Honda's quick gazes back. His goofy grin was the only answer either of them needed.
The last bell rang. Jonouchi pushed out of his seat.
"Hey, Anzu?" he said.
"Huh?"
"You're a lot more fun to be around lately, you know?"
"Yeah," Honda said. "You used to be really uptight all the time."
"Me? Uptight?" Anzu said with a laugh. "Who wouldn't be when you two were breaking school rules every other second?"
"We still do," Honda said.
"Yeah, you just join in now," Jonouchi said, punching her on the shoulder.
"I'm here to keep you numbskulls out of trouble," Anzu said, punching him right back.
The three laughed.
"Come on, let's go see Yugi," Anzu said.
They retrieved their school bags and walked out of the classroom, still talking and laughing. A trio of girls chatting near the school door while they pack their things looked up to see them go.
"It's weird, isn't it?" one girl said.
"What's weird?" one of her friends said.
"Anzu, Honda, and Jonouchi."
"Yeah," said the third girl thoughtfully. "You'd never really think they'd ever be friends, huh?"
A/N: Aw, that was cute. :) Oh, hey, so I have a question for my lovely readers that involves an upcoming Vaseshipping fanfiction I'm currently outlining. If you could maybe go take the poll on my profile, that would be awesome! Thank you! Next is Ninjashipping (Mai x Magnum). You know, that weird guy from the Battle City filler episode who had a deck full of ninjas? Yeah, I didn't remember him either until just now.
