Naiveshipping (Ryo x Anzu x Yugi)
The storm raged outside. And today was, of course, the day that Anzu had forgotten her umbrella.
She hovered at the doors in the shoe locker room, looking bleakly at the rain. It didn't look like it was going to let up any time soon. A bolt of lightning cut across the sky, followed by the boom of thunder growling at the back of its throat. Anzu sighed. Well, she wasn't going to get anywhere just standing here. Why, oh why was it so many blocks to her house?
She put her school bag over her head. Okay. On three. One. Two...
"Anzu-chan! Anzu! Wait up!"
Anzu paused, and turned around, secretly glad for delaying her forage into the storm. Yugi scampered over to her.
"Yugi-kun, I didn't know you were still here," Anzu said, surprised.
"Bakura-kun and I were exchanging friend codes," Yugi said, blushing and gesturing the hand-held console in one hand. "I just started raining so quickly!"
"I know," Anzu said. "And I forgot my umbrella."
Yugi's face fell.
"Oh no," he said. "I was hoping you'd have one. I forgot mine too."
He looked down at his game, and out at the rain, looking so forlorn that Anzu almost laughed. Ryo appeared from around the corner, his white hair pulled back into a ponytail today.
"Oh, Anzu-chan, Yugi-kun," he said, smiling. "Yugi-kun, I thought you were running to beat the storm."
"Didn't make it," Yugi groaned. "I was positive it wasn't going to rain today! I wouldn't have brought my game otherwise!"
"Oh, Yugi, didn't you watch the weather this morning?" Anzu said, hiding her smile behind her hand.
"Of course I watched it, but I figured the weather men are never right about anything."
Ryo and Anzu both laughed at this, and Yugi flushed. Ryo put his school shoes back into their cubby, slipping into his other shoes.
"Don't worry," he said. "I have my umbrella...it's a little small, but..."
"But isn't your house in the other direction?" Anzu said.
Ryo smiled.
"I don't mind."
He was blushing a little bit, and Anzu realized that he was excited to be walking home with friends.
"You are a lifesaver, Bakura-kun!" Yugi said, his whole face lighting up like a little child. "Just a second, let my change my shoes."
He hurried back to his shoe cubby while Ryo got out his long, thin black umbrella.
"He seems happy today," Anzu said.
"He should be," Ryo said. "I just traded him an Umbreon."
"Were you two playing Pokemon? I knew Yugi was really into it right now...I didn't know you played it too."
"Yugi got me into it," Ryo admitted.
Yugi ran back around the corner.
"Okay, I'm ready to go!" he said.
Thunder rolled overhead. Ryo half-yelped, Anzu jumped, and Yugi's eyes widened. Anzu fought to hide a grin. They – all three of them – were just like little kids, forgetting their umbrellas, being afraid of the thunder. They all stared at each other for a moment.
"Pft," Yugi said, trying to hide his grin.
And then they were all laughing, so hard that Anzu thought she might not be able to breathe. When they finally recovered, she tried to talk, hiccuping a few times.
"Well, we should get going – I think the storm's supposed to get even worse."
"Right," Ryo said, opening his umbrella.
They ducked through the doors and into the storm. It was a squeeze beneath the umbrella. But it was dry. Anzu smiled as Ryo and Yugi started talking Pokemon again. They discussed egg breeding, Yugi tried to explain EVs to Anzu, but mostly...they did a lot of laughing.
The storm didn't seem so scary anymore. At least, not from under an umbrella that held three people.
A/N: Can't you just see Yugi and Ryo playing Pokemon together? I totally can. Because it's adorable. X3 By the way, I don't understand EVs either. A hardcore Pokemon gamer, I am not. I just want all the pretty ones. XD Next is Mythshipping (Ishizu x Marik). Eeew, incest...but eeeee we're out of the N's and going to the M's, I can't believe how far this project has gone! 8D
