Mistshipping (Ryouta x Otogi)
Mist hung heavily over the water. It was as if the sky had dropped down to come close to the ocean, clouds brushing against the gentle waves that lapped against the side of the boat. Otogi leaned his elbows against the railing of the small vessel, staring into the fog. He couldn't see more than a few feet of the deep blue water that looked somewhat gray in the half-light. The only sound was the water against the boat, and even that was muffled, as though someone had dropped a blanket over them. It was hard to tell which way they had come from, or which way was the shore.
Otogi supposed that this should worry him, even a little bit, but he was rather enjoying the silence.
Ryouta ducked out from the small cabin. There was a big grin on his face – you wouldn't have known for a second that they were lost in this fog.
"Quiet, huh?" he said.
"Yeah," Otogi said.
"It'll lift around noon. We'll be able to get back around them."
Otogi nodded.
"Sorry. I know you said you needed to be back for work."
Otogi shrugged.
"Whatever. It won't kill me to open the shop a few hours late on one day."
Ryouta grinned again. After a beat, he came over to stand next to Otogi, leaning his own elbows against the railing. The strange pair peered through the fog and sea, tiny waves rising and falling, but without really disturbing the anchored boat.
"Never realized how nice the quiet could be," Otogi said.
Ryouta snorted.
"You city people. Always forgetting about important stuff like that."
Otogi half smiled, fiddling absently with his earring.
"Thanks for this, Kajiki. I needed this. The quiet, you know."
Ryouta grinned again, and clapped Otogi on the back.
"Everybody does," he said. "They just forget to go looking for it."
Otogi couldn't stop himself from grinning back.
A/N: And strangely enough, I could see this couple working. XD Next is Misguideshipping (Rebecca x Otogi). More Otogi...I'm not really a fan of writing about him...
