Megan ran to get the door, skirting down the hallway. Her dad had asked her to get it, so it had to be someone he knew. Megan peaked out the window, and her face lit up for a second time when she saw who was at the door. She swung it open quickly, letting the afternoon sun peak in

"Jazzie!" she exclaimed, hugging her cousin. Jazzie hugged her back.

"Happy birthday!" she exclaimed.

"Don't forget about us." Megan looked up, her other aunt and uncle were here too!

"Hi, Uncle Blues, hi, Aunt Melody!" Megan exclaimed, letting them in. Melody gave Megan a hug.

"So you're ten already, I can't believe it." she said, Blue gave her a pat on her head, making her messy brown hair even more messy.

"Hi, Megan." he said. Megan led them all in.
Later, when things had settled down just a little bit, Megan was starting to open her presents in the living room. She started tearing the wrapping paper open, letting it scatter on the rug. She got some beautiful wall decorations from Roll, ones of bird and butterflies, a white bike helmet from Blues, headphones from Melody, and a t-shirt from Jazzie. When Megan unfolded it, there were three CD's nestled inside. Megan nearly laughed, they were rock-and-roll, blues, and jazz. A melody of sorts. Megan sometimes felt a little left out of the name game, even the nickname game. Jazzie's real name was Jessica after all. She was just plain old Megan.

"One last present." Megan's dad announced. Megan watched as he left the room. She couldn't wait to see what her present was. She had heard her dad messing around in both the lab and basement, but she hadn't figured out what he was up to. He suddenly came back into the room. "You wanted a dog, right?" he asked. Megan smiled wide, was that the present?

"You got me a puppy?" she asked. Her dad smiled.

"Something like that." he said, stepping aside. Megan couldn't believe her eyes. Behind her dad was a robot, but unlike any Megan had ever seen. It looked like a dog, and its big eyes almost seemed to sparkle with intelligence. It barked, then tackled Megan with a big dog lick. Megan started laughing.

"You built me a dog!" she exclaimed. The dog barked, then started running around the room in excitement. Roll suddenly laughed.

"Of course Rush would be the first to get reactivated." she said, Megan looked at the robot dog, Rush? She bent down.

"Here, Rush." she called. The robot dog's ears perked up and ran towards Megan. It obediently sat down. Jazzie came over.

"What a bot!" she exclaimed. Rush gave her a sniff, then licked her hand. Jazzie laughed. Megan looked back to her dad, he was grinning ear to ear.

"So, who built Rush?" she asked. Her dad's smiled faded a little.

"Your grandpa built him, it just fixed him." he explained, coming over and giving Rush a pet. Rush barked, almost seeming to grin. Megan glanced at the floor, she wished she had remembered Grandpa. He was a brilliant scientist, and her dad followed in his footsteps.
Later, Megan and Jazzie were in the den, trying to see what Rush could do, while the grownups talked. Megan raised her hand.

"Okay, Rush, sit." she announced. Rush nodded and sat down on the tiled floor. Jazzie laughed.

"Is there anything that bot won't do?" she asked. Megan grinned, thinking of an idea.

"I know, speak, Rush." she announced, Rush lolled out his tongue and barked. Megan pumped a fist, excited her idea worked. "He can't talk English." she declared. Jazzie grinned, then that grin suddenly disappeared. Jazzie was staring hard at the floor. "Hey Jazzie? are you okay?" Megan asked. Jazzie looked up, a smile appearing on her face once more.

"Yeah I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?" she asked. Megan gave her a sideways glance.

"It's just that you were kinda staring off into space there." she explained slowly. Jazzie had an awful temper, especially when you asked her about herself. Jazzie glared at Megan, then without warning, tackled her. Megan quickly rose her fists to protect herself. "Get off, Jazzie!" she exclaimed. Rush started barking, and soon the whole room was filled with noise. Apparently drawing the attention of the grownups.

"Megan!"

"Jazzie!" Megan looked up, her dad and Blues had come into the room, both of them seemed pretty upset. Blues gave a loud sigh. "All right, who started this?" he asked. Megan looked at Jazzie, she was frowning.

"Jazzie did." Megan said, not really wanting to get her cousin into trouble, but she was pretty truthful. Blues shook his head. Things did not look good for Jazzie.
