Megan paced back and forth across the floor of the den, it had been about a month after her birthday and she still hadn't heard from Jazzie. She had managed to make clear she didn't hold any grudge or was scared of her cousin, but she still hadn't heard anything. Her dad kept having private phone calls with her family members, although he did it so quietly and said so little, Megan had no clue what he was talking about, even with who. A soft whine from Rush brought her out of it. She gave the robo-pooch a pat.

"Hey there, boy, you're worried too, aren't you?" she asked. Rush nodded. Megan gave him a hug, Rush never felt too metallic to hug. "I'm worried about Jazzie, and I think Dad's worried about her too. What was with her that time?" Megan explained. She had a couple of theories, nightmares, panic attack, or even an unknown grudge, but she had one, much more prosperous one as well. All this had started happening on her birthday and when she got Rush. Rush had been in storage and had several features that her dad disabled, implying he could do more than just be a really smart house pet. Jazzie had lashed out for no reason twice, although the first time she might of had one, although Megan didn't know what. The moment just after they had tumbled down the stairs, Jazzie had told her to 'just stop' but what? Right afterwards, had she just been calling her name, or was it something else? Megan or Mega? Mega Man. What in the world had gotten into her cousin's head? Did she know something she didn't? Megan needed to learn more than ever who this 'Mega Man' guy was. She walked towards her dad's lab, she didn't care if she got into trouble for eavesdropping the other night, she needed to know who Mega Man was. Megan opened the door to her dad's lab.

"Dad?" she called. The lab was empty. Megan turned around and started looking all around the house. Her dad wasn't in the kitchen, the living room, the den or even any of the bedrooms. She didn't panic, most likely her dad was in the basement, but a strange type of fear was starting to grow in her. Just the same feel that had happened... No, she couldn't think about that now, she needed to find her dad and ask him a couple of questions. Megan opened the door to the basement, her feet once again making no noise. Megan whirled around, feeling a small nudge on her heel. She sighed in relief when she saw it was just Rush.

"Hey boy," she started, giving him a pat, ",Want to help me find Dad?" she asked. Rush nodded, and started down the stairs. His paws gently clanged against the metal stairs. Megan followed him, feeling strangely more safe letting him lead. 'Shake it off.' Megan thought, shaking her head. She set her foot on the floor of the basement, it echoed with every step. It was a very quiet echo though. Megan shook her head again, was her fear making her see things that weren't really there? Rush walked towards a wall, and barked. Megan looked at the pooch like he was crazy. "I think one of your wires might loose, boy." she said. Rush gave another bark, then flipped a hidden panel in the wall open. Megan gasped in surprise, how come she didn't know about this? Rush pressed a button on the panel with his nose, and a door opened up in the basement. An elevator. Megan slowly stepped inside, the bright lights making the metal glow. Rush scampered after her, door shutting just as he went through. The elevator whirred, slowly bringing them down. It hit the bottom and opened. Megan hesitantly exited. She looked around, the room was bare except for a shiny table and a desk. Sitting in front of the desk in a chair, was her dad. He looked up, surprised but not quite.

"I guess Rush showed you the elevator." he said with a chuckle. Megan nodded.

"What is this place?" she asked, noting the dust on the walls and floor. Megan's dad smiled, but a few tears escaped his eyes.

"This used to be your grandpa's lab, he used the one upstairs for sure, but this was the one that was the most special to him." he explained. Megan looked down, the dusty metal floor appearing in her vision.

"Why?" she asked. Megan's dad gave her a tight hug.

"It's where Blues worked with him for a while. Then I helped him down here. Slowly as he got older, Dr. Light, I mean, Grandpa couldn't make it down here as often, but I kept the place tidy." he explained, looking at the desk. "It was the very least I could do for him. It was so hard to see him get older and more sick." Megan's dad continued, more tears forming in his eyes. Megan looked around at the dust covered room.

"Why isn't it clean now?" she asked. Her dad closed his eyes.

"It was one of the last things he said to me. He said I didn't need to clean the lab any more, and, and that he was proud of me. Then..." he managed to get out. Megan hugged him back,

"I know." she whispered. She could wait to ask about Mega Man another day.
