Minokenshipping (Priest Set x Priest Karim)

(Why does it exist if nobody ships it?!)

"You are far too kind, Karim."

Karim chose to ignore this comment, watching the little boy scamper away. The boy paused halfway down the street. He turned around and gave Karim a huge wave and smile, and then disappeared. Karim smiled, raising his hand in farewell. Only then did he glance over at the priest beside him.

Set's arms were folded and his mouth was a thin line.

"That boy deserved to be punished for stealing."

"That boy has a sick sister and a mother pushed to her limits. I can understand why he chose to steal," Karim said.

"Now he's going to think stealing will earn him kindness from authority."

Karim shrugged.

"The pharaoh has more than enough bread in this kitchen. I don't think anyone will notice. Besides, I doubt he'll come to that conclusion. After all, you were here glaring at him."

Set snorted. Karim gave the younger man a wry smile. He was far too young to be so serious. Boys his age should be looking at girls and thinking about marriage, not working themselves up over whether or not a scrawny, hungry little boy deserved to be punished for his hunger.

"I think the scales have made you soft," Set said, turning his glare on the kitchen since there were no little boys to terrify anymore. "Any time you see it dip on the side of good you have a sentimental breakdown."

Karim's smile faded slightly.

"If you had seen the darkness I have, Set," he said. "Then you, too, would be glad to see a heart that was pure."

Set stiffened slightly, but didn't reply. The pair stood silently for a moment. Then Karim took a step back.

"I must go to the temple of Khnum. My duties await."

Set didn't answer, and didn't look at him. Karim studied to young man for a moment longer, wondering what was hiding behind those guarded eyes. Then he stepped back again, nodded, and turned towards the temple.

He only barely caught the murmur of Set's next words.

"I have seen darkness, Karim…and I know what it's like."

A/N: There's nothing to do with this; Karim has next to no personality and has never really appealed to me at all. He always felt like a filler character, because that's kind of what he was. They just needed someone to slap the scales onto, and then they didn't spend any time fleshing out his character. Next is Mindslaveshipping (Bandit Keith x Strings).
