Megan walked back and forth across the floor of the den, she had nearly gotten used to the extra weight. Rush always followed close behind though, on her dad's request. And it was a good thing too. Megan tried to do a small jump, but quickly stumbled. Rush caught her before she hit the floor. Megan grinned embarrassed.

"Good boy, Rush." she told him, giving him a pat. Rush grinned as well before helping her get to her feet again. Megan looked at the floor, realization flooding over her. The reason the floors were so sturdy was so they wouldn't break or get damaged by robot weight. She tapped her foot on the floor, it made no resounding echo. Just a simple tap. Megan sighed, wishing she had put things together sooner. But how was she supposed to know that her dad had been a robot, or that Mega City had been attacked on several occasions? It was like all the grownups were trying to hide it.

Maybe it had something to do with that government thing. Maybe they were trying to hide the, 'Wily Wars', so that they wouldn't happen again. Megan frowned, no such luck. At least now Mega City would get a new hero. Megan was so firm in her decision, but at the same time it terrified her. What could a girl who had just become a robot offer a city? She was sure she would get hurt, but she also knew that others would if nothing was done. And at the moment, nothing could be except for her. She was the only chance. Just like her dad had been. Megan hoped she could live up to it. She took in a sharp breath, she had too. Already one of her family members had been hurt, she couldn't let it happen to any more. Footsteps coming up the stairs grabbed her attention. Megan walked towards the basement steps, seeing Roll. Roll looked up and smiled.

"Everything's nearly ready down there, I'm just coming up to get some food from the kitchen." she explained. Megan smiled, Roll knew she understood best from listening.

"Can I help?" she asked, Roll nodded.

"Of course." They walked into the kitchen and Megan quickly helped Roll make a bit of a meal. Megan took down some mugs from the cupboard, they hadn't found their way into the plate cupboard yet. She set four of them onto a tray. Roll looked up. She seemed a little sad. "Megan..." she trailed off. Megan was confused, she had gotten four mugs, one for her dad, one for Blues, one for Roll, and... One for herself. Robots didn't need to eat or drink. Megan tried to hold back tears, until this was over, she couldn't do a lot of things that people normally did. Roll seemed to understand and gave her a hug. "It's okay, Megan, you won't be a robot forever." she assured her. Megan looked up, and nodded.

After taking the tray of food down to the lab, Megan sat herself on the table again. Tools laid scattered all around the room, and various tech was laid down a little more orderly. Roll gave a sudden chuckle.

"It's starting to look like the lab again." she said. Megan looked around, and couldn't help giggling herself, had her grandfather really been this messy? Megan's dad looked up from a dusty box.

"Organized chaos, alright? I knew where to find things and where to put them when the lab was like this." he said. Blues just shook his head.

"Do you have it?" he asked, sounding a little annoyed. Megan's dad nodded and pulled out a jumble of dusty objects from the box. He gently blew some dust off of one and wiped it with a rag. Blue paint gleamed underneath the dust. Megan looked at it, thinking it looked familiar.

"Is that, your helmet?" she asked. Megan's dad nodded.

"Let's hope that Dr. Light's, Grandpa's technology holds." he said, pulling out a computer chip from the box also.

"The variable weapon system." Blues said, giving a low whistle. That one whistle led to a song that Megan had never heard before. Her dad and Roll were smiling while it was playing.

"I haven't heard that song in ages, Blues." Megan's dad said. Roll gave Blues a hug.

"Feeling nostalgic?" she asked. Blues nodded. Megan started feeling a little bit of hope. Her dad wasn't built as a fighting robot, but still managed to win, it seemed more than once. If her family believed in her, there was no way she was letting them down.

Much later, Megan looked at herself in the mirror, shiny, protective armour surrounded her body now. All of it gleamed with silvery newness. It wasn't painted very much because they didn't have a lot of time, but Megan liked the silver gleam of the armour. Her shoulder-length hair jutted out from beneath the rim of her helmet, and a small visor went over her eyes. She experimentally jumped a little, her legs felt so much stronger. She glanced at her left hand, it would turn into a weapon at a moment's notice, all she needed to do was think about it. Not only that, her dad had put something in called the 'variable weapon system'. It would copy the skills of the Robots and add them to her own. Blues had enhanced her power core, it was like her heart, so that she would be able to get the most out of every movement. And Roll fine-tuned everything so nothing would go wrong at least without damage.

Most of the work was done with her deactivated, because within the first few seconds, Megan knew she wouldn't be able to stand any of that with her eyes open. Some of it she could stand though, and had tried to be awake as much as she could to get used to the feeling. Rush came up beside her, looking just as ready. He had been pushed to the limits with new tech as well so he could really help Megan out. Megan couldn't wait to find out what the 'Rush Jet' was. Her dad made it sound so cool. Although she had to learn it on the fly, literately in this case.

"You look ready." Megan's dad said, interrupting her thoughts. Megan bit her lip.

"I feel ready, but I'm also super nervous, did you feel like this?" she asked. Her dad nodded.

"I sure was, I was leaving the lab and trying to save the city. On top of that, I actually knew the first six Robot Masters." he explained. Megan tried to work things out.

"You knew them?" she asked. Roll came up behind Megan's dad.

"We had helped Dr. Light- Grandpa build them. Dr. Wily had reprogrammed them but after your dad beat them, Dr. Light fixed them and they went back to doing what they were originally built to do, and a couple of them still do." she said. Megan's dad nodded.

"Do you remember the time I brought you to the park outside of town?" he asked, Megan nodded.

"Yeah, and we ran into one of your old friends?" she clarified. She nearly laughed when she put it together. "You mean Cut was one of the Robot Masters?" she asked. Megan's dad grinned.

"He has never lost his thing for horrible puns." he said with a laugh. Megan grinned too. before glancing at the floor.

"Dad?" she asked.

"Yeah?"

"Did you choose to be called Mega Man?" Megan's dad bent down to her eye level.

"Yeah, I decided having a Robot Master name might make me feel more confident." Megan looked at her dad.

"Did it work?" she asked. Megan's dad nodded. Megan turned her nervous frown into a determined one.

"Then, I need a name like that too." she declared. Megan's dad smiled.

"What is it?" Megan looked up.

"Rhythm."
