Midshipping (Jonouchi x Honda x Yugi)
(I can't believe no one ships this! I mean, I wouldn't ship it either, but come on, these are three main characters that are all best friends and people have shipped on a lot less evidence)
"No, no, see, ya gotta curl up your fingers real tight like this. And put your thumb here, don't leave it hanging out – you're gonna break it like that."
Yugi once again attempted to make a fist.
"Like this?" he said.
"Nuh-uh, you're too loose again," Jonouchi said. "Geez, Yugi, you're like the only person I've ever met that needed so much help making a fist."
Honda moved Yugi's thumb across his fingers for the fourth time that day.
"If you punched somebody like that, you'd break your thumb," he said again.
The trio was making good use of the empty dojo, since the heavy rain had cause the karate team to cancel practice for the day. The rest of the school was probably empty, and they probably weren't supposed to be there, but when had that ever stopped resident thugs Jonouchi Katsuya and Honda Hiroto?
"I think I'll break my fingers no matter what I do," Yugi said, frowning as he punched at the punching bag again. It barely moved, and he waved his hand back and forth. The knuckles were red.
"I'm telling ya, it's just practice," Jonouchi said. "And trust me, being the little guy in the fight doesn't mean you're gonna lose. I've seen plenty of little guys dominating out there in street fights."
"It's not about your power, it's about your speed," Honda said, nodding in agreement. "And being able to use their own momentum against them."
Yugi punched the back again and winced.
"Maybe this was a bad idea," he said.
"No, it's the best idea you've ever had," Jonouchi said. "Come on, Yugi, think about it. You were right when you said you seem to get beat up a lot. Best thing to do is try and learn to protect yourself a little."
"I can't even wiggle the bag," Yugi said.
His face had turned somewhat expressionless – Jonouchi and Honda knew that look. When Yugi started to fail at something, he tended to shut down rather than show any frustration.
"Don't you go anywhere," Honda said, rapping him on the head.
"Huh?" Yugi said, ducking. "I wasn't moving."
"Your brain was," Jonouchi said, grinning. "Okay, so punching's not your thing. Honda, you remember that choke hold release thing?"
"Yeah," Honda said, brightening. "Here, Yugi, I'm gonna show you something – don't give me that look, you can do this one. Trust me, my own sister can do this one, and she was a wimp when she was younger."
Jonouchi leaned against the punching bag as Honda tried to teach a clumsy Yugi how to get out of a choke hold. He couldn't help but grin at his much shorter friend. He still had that look on his face, like he'd never be able to figure it out, and he was hopelessly clumsy. But there was that spark in the back of his eyes that said he was starting to become interested – that intrigue that he seemed to have every time he started to figure out the nuances of a new game.
Ah! Jonouchi nodded to himself. If there was a way to get Yugi to figure out how to defend himself...that was definitely the way!
"Hey, Honda, Yugi, let's switch gears," he said.
"Huh? But I think I'm getting this one," Yugi said.
Jonouchi grinned.
"I was thinking...we could turn this into a game or something."
Yugi's whole face lit up. Honda grinned over his head at Jonouchi and sent him a thumb's up.
Good idea, he mouthed.
"You're gonna learn how to defend yourself one way or another," Jonouchi said. "Okay. So here's how the game's gonna work..."
A/N: Wouldn't it just be adorable if Yugi decided to learn self-defense from Jonouchi and Honda? I can't believe he never took advantage of the fact that his best friends are accomplished street fighters. He gets beat up all the time; why not learn a few tricks? Also, they'd be adorable all together. I love writing about friends. :3 Next is Midriffshipping (Marik x Amelda).
