"Yeah no, I'm not about to deal with whatever this is." Leizcio said as there was a whole mob of students standing in front of class 1-A's entrance. Leizcio didn't care and he really just wanted to go home and heal the rest of his injuries back to normal. Thankfully, he used his quirk to zip through the crowd and head out of that mess.
When the train had arrived, Leizcio got on and began to think to himself as the train went by speeding along. He was looking at how he could train himself further since his speed didn't seem to get any faster. The only thing that could come to mind was what Ojiro brought up with pressure points and maybe his energy control. Either way, he had about two weeks to make some form of improvement.
Upon arriving at his stop and heading back home to the cafe, he started to question why he can't go faster. What was holding him back from allowing his base speed to increase? Surely it can, but then again, he hasn't had his quirk for long, quite literally only for around 4 months give or take. Guess he'll have to continue doing his vigilante work for the time being as well.
Walking back into the cafe, Leizcio lazily greets Lavania, and pech follows him up the stairs. As much as Leizcio would want to, he can't throw himself on the bed, that'd just hurt him a whole lot. He slowly gets back into bed, focusing his speed on his injuries, allowing them to heal faster. It's something that he has tried practicing before since vigilantism but never had to use it to such a large extent like this. The good thing was that his injuries had mostly healed since yesterday so he just needs a night of sleep and he'll be back in shape.
"Leizcio, Leizcio wake up! You're gonna be late!" Lavania muffled, knocking on Leizcio's door to try and wake him up. That boy done slept for the rest of the day ever since he entered his room. Leizcio slowly opens his eyes and turns on his phone. His eyes shut for a bit to adjust to the phone's brightness but they opened wide when he saw what the time was.
"Sorry Lavania!" Leizcio yelled as he started to get ready at high speeds, hoping that he doesn't miss the train. Lavania just sighs and decides to head back down to open the cafe. A burst of speed follows shortly after and Leizcio runs his way over to the station.
'I wonder where Esperanza is, he's usually the one that's here early.' Uraraka thought to herself as she waited for the train. As if to answer her question, a strong gust of wind came from her direction. Turns out that it was Leizcio rushing his way over, and right on time too since the train was about to come by.
"What happened Esperanza? You're never late up until now?"
Leizcio took a quick second to catch his breath, for him, it's his first time getting ready in just a few minutes, especially since he thought he was waking up from a nap, not spending nearly a whole day asleep. Must have been his quirk draining whatever energy he had left to heal, tiring him out.
"Tired, soon as I went home, I went to take a nap and I was focusing my speed to heal my injuries, it must've continued to work when I fell asleep because I just woke up a few minutes ago."
"Makes sense, but you're healed now right?"
"Yeah, haven't felt anything abnormal there so I should be good to go now."
"Great, means you're ready for the sports festival!"
"Course, can't miss an opportunity to get noticed by pros! At least in a good way."
The both of them chuckled a bit and proceeded to get onto the train and would talk to each other about how they planned on training for the festival. But they both had planned on training their quirk techniques.
When they were at school, the day had went on normally as everyone was focused on the sports festival, there were only two weeks before it took place. Nobody would know the events until they were announced at the festival. Lots of his classmates decided to train in the different environments at UA and the USJ. And while he did train a bit, he had a different way of going about it.
The day was over, Leizcio finished up his homework, and it's already night. Reaching under his bed, he pulls out his vigilante costume and prepares himself for another night of patrol. For whatever reason, crime seemed to start to pick up more than it normally did. Leizcio considered that it might be since All Might has grown a bit weaker, but he hopes it isn't
"Help! That man stole my purse!" was yelled not so far from where Leizcio was watching from the top of a random building. Thus would begin his night of patrolling. The nights would consist of muggers like this, sometimes there'd be ones with guns, but Leizcio proved himself to be faster than the bullets. However, this night had something else planned out for Leizcio.
So. Many. Villains.
Leizcio was moving throughout the streets, beating up and capturing muggers where he could, but for some reason, they felt like coming out of whatever hellhole they came from. It was practically like every alley had some villain lurking, hoping to capture someone and take their money and possibly their lives. Sure they were quite easy to knock out and tie up, but that didn't excuse the fact that Leizcio had traveled practically the entire city stopping those he'd come across.
Getting caught up in all the action, he sat down for a bit in an alley and looked at his phone. It was already 3 in the morning. Leizcio got so carried away that he forgot to even see what time it was. It was a good thing that he left when Lavania was asleep or else she would've started freaking out. Closing his phone, he sees his own reflection, but yet there was something there behind him as well?
"Hey there! Whatcha doing in that alleyway?" A voice from the figure above him spoke.
"Just stepped out the bar and got tired sir, I can find my way home." Leizcio said in hopes that he could pull off a lie.
"Sorry kid, you're far too short to be old enough to go a bar. Could've worked, but I've been watching you this whole night going from villain to villain."
Leizcio stands up and takes a look at who's speaking to him.
'Oh shit.'
It was pro hero Hawks, one of the fastest heroes in Japan. Leizcio didn't know of him until he started looking for speedster heroes in Japan with Hawks being the closest to one. That man can fly at high speeds and those feathers of his are strong as hell.
"Now while I agree with the whole villain stopping thing, you're far too young for this, especially to be doing something illegal."
Leizcio backed up in fear, trying to think of an escape plan before he gets caught.
"Sorry but they needed someone fast enough to stop you, and looks like that'll be my job. Now, please just turn yourself in, it'll be much easier for the both of us."
Leizcio without hesitating for a second bolts off into the distance, going as fast as he can without damaging his body.
"Well, can't say that wasn't what I was expecting, but at least I can see how fast he is." Hawks said as he went into the air and flew after Leizcio at high speeds.
"Okay good, I think I've lost him for now, I need to get somewhere near home before they catch on." Leizcio muttered as he continue to run, but he could see Hawks in his line of sight, and he was catching up to him.
"Shit"
Leizcio amped his speed a bit more to where his body started singe with small heat. Leaving with a strong burst of wind in his path. Hawks took notice of this and is a bit surprised but starts to push his own speed a bit more.
Leizcio is almost where he needs to be, but he can't shake off Hawks. It's unsurprising, but Hawks is far faster than Leizcio is, and he's also been training to be a hero for years, Leizcio has been a vigilante for only 4 months. The gap between them is clear.
In a desperate move, he tried something that he thought of doing. Turns out his broccoli-looking friend gave him an inspiration for a move. Just maximum output for a singular moment to do what he can. Leizcio's bones might not crack like Midoriya's but if he holds his maximum output for longer than a few seconds, his body will start to be in pain. It also didn't help that he was already going around the city beating villains, naturally making him a bit slower since his energy was being used up.
"C'mon, please let whatever the hell I'm about to do work." Leizcio said to himself as he concentrated his maximum power on his step for a second. He took that step and he found himself much farther from where he originally was.
"Hah nice! Now I can just- Oh god."
While the move was successful, Leizcio wasn't paying attention to where it'd land him as he never calculated the distance. This ended up with him tripping up and hitting a garbage can.
"Owww."
He groaned in pain as his body was tiring out and he just rammed into something at his full speed. He suddenly feels something stab into his hoodie and sweatpants, lifting him and pinning him to the wall.
"Quite the race you put up there kid! Never really went against anyone that fast! But I didn't need much of a boost, and it seems like you did."
Leizcio stays quiet, he can't believe he just let himself get caught because of one wrong step.
Hawks hovers down to his eye level and takes a look at the hooded kid, giving him a look of what could almost be a bit of sadness.
"Kid, you're too young to be doing any of this. You need to leave this to the pros. We know that where you usually patrol there's not many. But that doesn't mean you can go ahead and do this hero stuff yourself. I saw your videos, your first fight against those three villains, and even the one against that fear quirk user."
"EXACTLY! WHAT ELSE WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO? STAND AND WATCH?" Leizcio spoke vibrating his vocal cords to hide his true voice, taking Hawks aback a bit as he wasn't expecting a deep voice from someone who seems short enough to be a kid.
"I know I am part of the law, but what you did was right. I understand what you're trying to do kid. But even pros need to know when to calm it down. This society needs heroes that could use a bit of their own time, be able to be on patrol, and be at ease. Something tells me you're holding the weight of the world on your shoulders kid."
Leizcio doesn't respond to that, he's surprised someone like Hawks would reason with a vigilante. But what he said at the end was something that he found truth in.
"I'm sorry about this, but I have to arrest you. You're too young to do any of this and to feel such a heavy burden. But you have potential to be a good hero kid, maybe better than most."
Hawks takes his leave and soars back into the sky, with his sidekicks at the scene where Leizcio is. They start to put handcuffs on his legs and hand to ensure that he doesn't escape. While the talk put Leizcio at ease, this was just making his heartbeat ten times faster. He's about to be taken into jail and have his identity revealed. He'd put Lavania to shame and she'd be judged for having a brother who's a vigilante, and she'd be worried to death about him. So would his friends, hell they'd probably leave him behind since he was a vigilante.
As the sidekicks grabbed onto Leizcio with force, Leizcio started to panic and was starting to shake. The grips started to get stronger. Leizcio was scared now, he doesn't want to make his sister or friends worry for him.
"NO!"
Leizcio was able to vibrate the sidekicks off of him as well as the cuffs on him. Without looking back, he rushes off into the distance. Even with how fast Hawks is, Leizcio was already pretty close to home so he just needed to change into some clothes and head back into the cafe.
In an alley a block from where he lives, Leizcio changes out of his vigilante costume into something casual, limping the way back home. While he didn't go at his maximum speed, he tired out his own body a whole lot. Even if his step was at max speed, it made him realize that even his max speed wouldn't be fast enough to outrun someone who isn't like All Might. It'd sure as hell be something he'd need to dwell on.
But for now, the boy would need to get some rest as the sports tournament was still awaiting him. Before going to sleep, he took a bite out of one of his calorie bars so that he has enough energy to wake up at a normal time. Sneaking back into his room, he closes the door and throws himself into bed.
...
The door opens and Leizcio immediately awakens. He sees that it's a bit earlier than usual but what's worrying him is who the hell just opened his door.
"Leizcio, we need to talk."
That was all Lavania said as she went into the living room. Leizcio was now in an internal panic. He made sure that nobody followed him on the way home after getting nearly arrested so what could it be? Either way, he has to meet his certain doom before it gets any worse.
"Leizcio, why were you out on patrol last night? And don't lie."
Not questioning how she knows, he just goes with it and answers whatever she asks.
"I had an urge to get back out there again, and crimes were starting to pick up a bit."
"Leizcio do you even know how long you were out?! Look at this!" Lavania said angrily as she shoved her phone into his face.
There was an article that had read how the Scarlet Blur was nearly captured last night but escaped before being arrested. The vigilante had gone to different sectors of the city defeating villains on his own until a few sidekicks were able to capture him according to an eyewitness who saw him getting captured.
"Don't you see Leizcio! You're already in school! You're doing too much as it is! You need to stop! You're in the spotlight and in this case it's bad!"
"I'm sorry Lavania, but I can't just ignore-"
"You're not ignoring anyone! There are pros that are there to handle things! Just stop for a while! Let there be more pro heroes be assigned to patrolling this area and then the media might forget you for a while."
"Okay, sorry for worrying you."
Lavania gave Leizcio a small hug, angry at him for overworking himself but also happy to see him safe and sound. After getting lectured, Leizcio got himself ready for the day. Despite all of what happened yesterday, he feels pretty energized.
The day would continue on as it would, going on the train, classes going by normally, a small bit of training and such. It was just another day awaiting the festival. But something was deeply concerning Leizcio and it wasn't what happened yesterday. Well, not directly, but it is certainly connected.
Uraraka has not spoken a word to him at all throughout the whole day. Not on the train, not during lunch, not during training. Not a single thing spoken. With great reason, this worried Leizcio a lot but he knew the reason why. She most likely saw the article this morning and had quite a strong reaction. That's what worries Leizcio even more, he doesn't know how she feels.
When the day finished, they both got off the train and began to head home, but Leizcio decided to try and understand so he asked her,
"Uraraka do you want to talk about what happened?"
"..."
She didn't say anything and just pouted, looking upset as all lord. Leizcio decided that she'd speak whenever she felt ready so he continued walking, not pushing any further. However, doesn't seem like she stopped following him. They had already reached the spot where they usually split off so now Leizcio is unsure.
As Leizcio entered the cafe, Uraraka went ahead and spoke to Lavania for a bit, whatever they were talking about to each other, it could not be good. When they were done, they just nodded heads and Uraraka went upstairs and started dragging Leizcio into his room.
"Uraraka, I'm sorry, but let me just explain!" Leizcio said in a panicked voice, lord knows what the hell she told Lavania but if she agreed, it can't be good. Uraraka closed the door to the room and now Leizcio was very scared for his life. Too bad he didn't think of writing his will.
"Wait Uraraka I ca-"
She put her full palm on Leizcio's shirt, and he began to float up to the ceiling until his back on it. Leizcio is saying multiple prayers in his mind in hopes that Uraraka doesn't murder him at that point or open the window and let him float into the stratosphere.
"Leizcio"
'Oh fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck'
Leizcio might not be used to being called his first name by others but he knows when it's used for when he's in trouble.
"Why did you go and go out on patrol again for so long?! I know I told you that I didn't expect you to drop it but I did tell you to be more careful!" Uraraka said with a raised and annoyed tone.
"I'm sorry but it just felt like it was something I had to do! The pros were-"
"The pros are going to be doing what they can! I know what you're doing is right Leizcio, but you can't just be going around so late and doing everything all at once! I know we're at a hero school but we're still teens! We should be living our life as well! You shouldn't be spending nights restless! Your sister brought up a good point, you're not ignoring anyone! You have too much on your shoulders and you need to let others handle that for now!"
"Uraraka, I-"
"I don't think you understand how worried I was seeing that you were so close to getting arrested! I don't want my best friend going to jail just because he was doing the right thing! Now please! Promise me and your sister that you'll stop for now until the media forgets about you!"
"I'm sorry... Ochaco, I have been doing a bit too much, and I got lucky that time. I can promise you that I'll stop for the time being."
Ochaco looked at Leizcio and accepted his apology, she instructed him to move himself to his bed so she can release her quirk. Upon doing so, Leizcio fell onto his bed, glad that he didn't get murdered. He sat up on his bed and Ochaco joined him as well. They both sat in the small but understanding silence. Ochaco glad that Leizcio understands why he needed to stop and Leizcio glad he has a friend like her.
"So first names huh?"
"Guess that I got a bit emotional, but if you don't want to that's fine."
"I'm fine with it, we had quite the wild ride since we became friends, so it's up to you."
"Then it's fine with me Leizcio."
"Okay Chaco."
"Chaco?"
"Yeah!"
"Hehe nice. And sorry if I went overboard with the zero gravity, guess that ensured you wouldn't try and escape."
"Hah! No worries, that probably just helped drive your message home. But I'm getting kind of hungry, let's go do our homework back downstairs?"
"Yeah!"
They both had left Leizcio's room and went back on downstairs. Leizcio had his eyes opened by Hawks, Lavania, and Ochaco, telling him that he was doing too much on his own. They helped him to realize that he should slow down and have others share the burden as well. This helped Ochaco and Leizcio to strengthen their bond as Leizcio had saved her, and Ochaco saved him from overwork. Now they still have to prepare for the sports festival awaiting them!
Chapter 16
