Earth was unlike any other planet he has been on. It was an organic planet, nothing special except one thing. The climate was perfect for organic life. This isn't impossible, but far and few between in the universe. Most organic lifeforms he interacted with were nothing more than brainless creatures running on instinct. Earth had humans. They were just one of many creatures, but the most intriguing. Humans communicated and had a society, although primitive, which was remarkably like Cybertron. Well, before the war took that away, but that's a story he wishes to never recall.
Humans were interesting. They were almost a mini cybertronian. Minus all the awesomeness of having a vehicle mode and sweet armor. Humans had emotions, they felt for others and had great potential. Both bad and good, just like them. The odds that the Autobots landed on this very planet were incredible and scary. Scary because they were just a growing species. Just like Alpha Trion once lectured him about, 'other species should be left alone till they make the first move.' He hadn't understood what he was saying till he joined the Autobots on Earth barely even a month ago. Alpha Trion knew if the more advanced species made contact then they will bring nothing but pain to their growth. Some humans would focus on them and their technology versus making their own. He was still trying to understand it fully, but that was most he had concluded in the short time. Though he wasn't sure Alpha Trion was completely correct with his theory. Some humans might take that bait while others might use them to push themselves further, faster than originally. He believes it all depends on the character of both sides and how they interact. He had proof right before his eyes.
He watched as the three human children sat around the small TV doing what they call homework. He finds it a funny concept. They were helping each other with the questions. Miko's face scrunched up in a pained expression while Raf leaned over and pointed out something. Jack just watches the two with his ever calm face then goes back to his work. They were a prime example of how a species can be helped by another, more advanced one. He watched Bumblebee beep the answer to the next question to Raf and Bulkhead motivates Miko to keep trying. They were helping them, but not in a terrible way. It was nice to see some holes in his old mentor's words.
Venting out the air he decided to see if Jack was done. He felt the closest to him. Strange considering they were different species. They just seemed to click, or as Arcee claimed, 'You bring out the child in each other.' If hanging out with Jack made them sparklings then he was perfectly fine with it. It was better than being the 'rookie' of the group among his kind.
When he reached the human area, Miko and Raf seemed to have started a pointless argument, most likely started by the female to stall doing work. He had to admire her tactics, some were quite clever. Looking past the bickering teens he found Jack slipping stuff in his... 'What was it called again?' He mused. 'Oh yah 'backpack', that's right.' The word hit him out of nowhere. Bring himself back to reality he notices Jack was just sitting on his side on the couch, leaning on the side while watching his friends waste time. Jack was interesting. He was not like Miko or Raf. They all were different and had their likes and dislikes, but Jack didn't the same as the other children. He held himself back most of the time. He was always thinking. Thinking about anything and everything. Mostly overthinking, he had come to that conclusion a week on Earth. He was always trying to live up to others' opinions and standards. Trying to impress and be helpful. It was sometimes hard to see. It was like looking in a mirror sometimes. He might not be as conscious as the teen but he wanted the same. He wanted to live up to others' expectations and help them win this war. He wanted to be liked by others for who he was. Hanging out with Jack has made him learn a few things about himself. He was gradually learning to be patient. They may be similar, but they are physically capable of different things. His being a Cybertronian made him able to help. He could provide support and had gained confidence thru that ability to make a difference.
Jack wasn't able to do that yet. He was young and barely considered grown in his society. He had no way to gain confidence in his life till meeting the bots. Even now that the boy had gained some he still reverts when he thinks no one needs him. It's like flipping a switch. That's why he enjoys making Jack act childish. He gets to see something that the other two human children always show. It felt like a treat to him, seeing his friend that happy. He could feel a smile pull at his faceplates. He may not totally like the planet or humans, he may not know much of anything about them, but he was happy they landed on Earth.
Still smiling, he waved a servo to gain Jacks's attention. Jack looked over, his duller blue eyes smiling more than his face. Body language relaxed as he raised his hand to return the wave. He was so fragile compared to them, but his entire being showed how much trust he had in the giants around them.
Pushing out his servo face up he made an expression that Jack knew well. Without saying anything to his couch mates Jack slipped over to the large palm and jumped up before sitting so he didn't lose his balance. Smokescreen took no time and walking a few feet before setting Jack down. Once his friend was down he decided they might as well go for a ride. Transforming he popped open his door, offering Jack the driver seat, even though he knew he was driving. 'Got to keep up the act' he thought chuckling and his body shaking with the effort o holding it in.
"Hey, stop shaking, it feels like a massage chair in here." He heard Jack complain.
"Do I even want to know what that it is?" He questions as they sped out of the base hitting the road not far from the entrance.
"Probably not considering even I find them weird." He heard the humans supply, carefreely laughing. Even though he was in vehicle mode he still glowed with happiness at the human's openness.
Humans were strange and probably just as bad and good as any cybertronian. He wasn't sure if Alpha Trion will be proven right over time, nor did he care. He just knew hanging out with Jack was truly fun in this shadow of war.
"Fasten your seat belts, this is about the get dangerous." He spoke in his best announcer's voice before putting his pedal to the floorboards. All he heard in response was an excited scream as they rocketed over the dessert at dangerous speeds. The sand was going to get everywhere but it was worth it.
