Marbleshipping (Ryo x Ryuzaki)

Ryuzaki had been positive that the person on the bench was a girl. That was why he had sat down on the opposite end of the bench in the first place. "She" had looked a little lonely, after all, and he was trying his hardest to find a date because Haga had bet him fifty dollars that Ryuzaki couldn't get a girl if he tried. The evening hadn't gone well for him so far.

The "girl" leaned over the small leather bound notebook, scribbling. Ryuzaki considered a few pick-up lines in the back of his mind, but as they hadn't worked too well on the last three girls, he decided to just go simple.

"Hey," he said. "What's up?"

The pen hesitated halfway through a sentence. Light green eyes flicked up towards him through the thick strands of white hair that hung down like a curtain between them. Lips turned down slightly.

"I'm a boy," the boy said - and his voice was definitely masculine, if somewhat pre-puberty in tone.

Ryuzaki tried to stop his face from flushing, but it was no use.

"I knew that," he sputtered. "I was just trying to start a conversation."

"Mm-hm," the boy said.

He only sounded a tad irritated. Ryuzaki pressed his lips shut before he said anything else to dig his grave deeper. Dammit, dammit, dammit. Well, it wasn't like it was his fault! If the kid didn't want to be mistaken as a girl, he shouldn't wear his hair so long and feminine like. And what kind of guy wrote a diary, anyway? It wasn't his fault for jumping to conclusions, Ryuzaki thought to himself.

He was thinking he should probably get off the bench and walk away before the silence grew worse, but then the boy sighed and sat up straight, pushing his hair behind his ear. Now that Ryuzaki could see the boy's face, it was pretty obvious that he was a guy, and not much older than Ryuzaki, either. In fact...was that kid from...?

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you," the boy said. "It's just...well, you're the fifth person today that has tried to pick me up."

"Maybe you oughta cut your hair then," Ryuzaki said, before he could stop himself.

The boy shrugged - and Ryuzaki definitely recognized him now. This was Ryo Bakura, one of the finalists from Battle City. Although...Ryuzaki couldn't put his finger on it, but the kid looked...softer, kinda. Not nearly as intense as he had seemed on the livestream of the tournament.

"I really don't want to cut it," Ryo said, looking at the hair on his shoulders.

"Then...I dunno, wear it in a ponytail or something. Once I see your face it's obvious you're a guy," Ryuzaki said.

"Hmm," Ryo said. "Maybe you're right."

He looked at a strand of his hair for a beat longer. Then he shook his head and leaned back over his notebook. Ryuzaki sighed and stood up. Well. Better luck next time.

A/N: I don't know why, but the idea of Ryuzaki trying to pick up girls is extremely hilarious to me. XD Other than that, I found it hard to maintain a conversation between these two for very long. Sorry for how crappy this chapter is. Next is Manipulashipping (Marik x Anzu).
