Mainshipping (Seto x Jonouchi x Yami no Yugi x Yugi)
The earth growled faintly, causing Seto's coffee to ripple.
"T-Rex is coming," Jonouchi said with a grin.
"Oh, really, Jou-kun," Yugi said, rolling his eyes. "It's just an earthquake. I never should have let you watch Jurassic Park."
Seto grunted and went back to his coffee after the faint shaking subsided. There had been quite a few small earthquakes lately. He wondered if it was because he had somehow found himself hanging out with Jonouchi and Yugi lately. He had always said that it would be the end of the world before that happened. Maybe he was right.
The trio sat in the back of the coffee shop. It was a nice little place. Quiet. Not the sort of place the paparazzi expected Battle City finalists to hang out. It didn't attract many duelists, either, so there wasn't much chance for being recognized. Seto hated to admit it, but he needed that space of quiet, and even if it was Yugi and Jonouchi offering it, he was going to take it.
Yugi and Jonouchi sat on the other side of the booth. Seto might hang around them, but he wasn't going to share a bench with them. They had started a game of Monster Fighter, an older game that used a sort of connecting handgun with monsters plugged in on top, where they could box with each other. Jonouchi mashed buttons almost without thinking about it, obviously not concentrating very hard. He managed to knock Yugi's monster off of its platform, though.
"My turn," Yugi said, only this time, his voice seemed to have gotten a notch deeper and his eyes had turned a brilliant red.
Seto snorted. To think that the "back" Yugi would come out for such a low stakes game. A grin popped onto Jonouchi's face as Yami no Yugi righted his monster and the battle began again. Seto only watched with a half interest. He was more intrigued by the way the two Yugis switched so quickly and easily. There was barely an outward sign of the change, either, although the "back" Yugi seemed to sit a little taller and command more attention. The untrained eye wouldn't have noticed anything odd, though. Seto and Jonouchi were the only ones in the building that knew there was a kid with dissociative personality disorder here. Or being possessed by an ancient Egyptian spirit. Depended on whose story you believed.
"Kaiba, do you want a go?" Yami no Yugi asked.
He had defeated Jonouchi in a matter of seconds. The blonde boy grinned at Kaiba.
"I'll let you borrow my monster," he said.
Seto snorted.
"It'll be the last day of the world before I take advantage of your charity, mutt," he said.
A younger Jonouchi probably would have gone red in the face and challenged Kaiba at something, but today's Jonouchi just laughed and shook his head.
"Let's go again, Yugi," he said.
"Okay," the "front" Yugi said cheerfully, having switched back when no one was paying attention.
They reconnected their monster platforms while Seto went back to finishing his coffee.
But then Yugi's eyes flickered to red, he dropped the monster gun, grabbed Jonouchi's shoulder and pulled them both out of the booth and away from the windows.
"Get down!" he hissed at Seto.
The earthquake hit before he could even ask.
The massive quake shook Seto right out of the booth and onto the floor. The windows shattered as he hit the ground and glass sprayed above his head. He swore in his mind because his air pipe wasn't functioning. He managed to roll clear of the scattering glass as screams rocked the shaking coffee shop. He felt a hand on his arm and he was yanked across the floor and under the booth table.
Then the quake faded as quickly as it had come. A thin film of dust rose in the air. Seto coughed. He pulled himself free of the table, which had remained sturdy due to being bolted to the floor. Yugi was already out, making a quick round about the shop and checking on the few others that had been in the shop. He had already gone to the counter and asked for the first aid kit and was starting to get it open.
Seto shook his head slowly to clear it. Jonouchi pulled himself out behind him.
"Wow," he said. "That was a big T. Rex."
Seto rolled his eyes, but it was good to know that Jonouchi could still be an idiot - it meant things weren't too bad.
"Let's go help," he said, standing up. "Yugi's going to make me look bad."
"Kaiba? Wants to help? It is the end of the world," Jonouchi said.
"Shut up," Seto said.
Jonouchi just grinned.
A/N: hard to work with so many people, especially when two of them can only occupy one space one at a time. Whatever. Earthquakes are fun...not. Next is Mahoshipping (Pandora x Roba).
