Half an hour later, you stood atop the head of the newly digivolved Bakemon, now Airdramon as he flew leisurely over the sky. You'd taken the time to get dressed, and had your arms crossed, a frown on your face as your hair billowed in the high winds and you stared below.
"This is so amazing!" Airdramon gushed, for what happened to be the sixth time in as many minutes. He'd been skeptical of what you promised, but in the end, you easily laid his doubts to rest when you brought out the Rainbow Horn to digivolve him into his current form. While Meramon would have been the easiest to hide, Airdramon had by far the best movement ability.
There was of course the option of Mega Seadramon. But there would be no hiding a leviathan like that. For now, you thought stealth and speed was the better part of valor.
'Still, this is absurd.' you thought. Most of the city streets were bare. The only ones in sight being the odd digimon. quite a few Bakemon littered the streets below. And even a few Tyrannomon, and digimon you did not recognise.
Airdramon had been happy to fill you in on a dinosaur digimon you had no knowledge of. Tuskmon it was called. It was a fascinating champion. It looked like a smaller, yet much more streamlined Greymon, probably geared as species towards dealing devastating attacks at great speed, by only sacrificing some of the defensive power a Greymon had.
'What to do?' you wondered. As much as you had boasted how low tier a Myotismon truly was earlier, it didn't change the fact, that it was still a powerful Ultimate level digimon.
If you had even a week in advance to plan with Airdramon, it wouldn't be a problem, you were sure. But, come what may, you only had the last half hour to prepare.
You had been tempted to use the edible boost items you had left over. They would only give a minor boost here, but would be multiplied on digivolution. You held off on it though, just in case you wanted to use them yourself. You never bothered in the digital world, because at the time, it was more optimal to use them on your two digimon partners, and these leftover ones you had totally forgot about in the process of gaining a break through in your research into Death Digivolution.
If all else failed though, you could just give them to Airdramon and digivolve him straight to Mega Seadramon with the Coral Charm.
You were broken from your thoughts, by what sounded like the rapid buzzing of multiple helicopters. A bit of a yelp left Airdramon's mouth and you stumbled a bit as he juked behind a building to hide with a flap of his wings.
"What are you..?" you asked, puzzled. But, you got your answer as a massive green blur whisked through the air just a few hundred feet away, passing you by and flying deeper into the city.
"Hoh?" you hummed as you took it in with interest. Analyzing it and taking it apart with all the experience of a man who had memorized the abilities and skills of hundreds of different digimon. It was like a Kabuterimon, the same type of build, albeit a little bulkier. Its flight was slower, but it was more durable, and it seemed to be highly optimized for brute force rapid slashing power. It looked almost like a combination of a Kabuterimon and a Kuwagamon. Giving out little bits of the twos main strength, to make an optimized balanced build. "What digimon is that?"
Hmm. You quite liked the look of it.
"It's Snimon, an insect digimon," Airdramon answered and then shiverred lightly, "He was the commander in charge of my group of Bakemon. He's one of the few champion levels that became a main commander because of his strength and how violent and blood thirsty he is."
You merely hummed. It may take Airdramon a while to gain his confidence now that he was no longer a weak Bakemon. Well, he was still a weakling compared to what you were used to, but you were sure Airdramon wouldn't lose outright to that Snimon, and the the Airdramon species had quite the variety of special abilities.
Besides, bug digimon always hated fire attacks. Even Hercules Kabuterimon, one of your stronger subordinates back in the day wasn't good at dealing with it.
In the end, as much as you'd like to deny it. You were hero and protector, before you were king. And you were worried for the people held hostage by Myotismon.
So, you directed Airdramon to take you to the Sports Centre where they were all being held.
It turned out though, you didn't need to go there. Because, just as you got close, you caught sight of a very familiar, tall and cape clad digimon take to the air and fly out of the building, carrying a little girl and a small white cat digimon you again, didn't know of.
You followed with Airdramon from a distance, preparing to digivolve him into Mega Seadramon at a moments notice to protect the girl and the digimon. But, again, you were unneeded. And you watched, as a group of kids your age and a bit older, numbering seven in total besides the girl, surround Myotismon at the local television station.
Metal Greymon, Were Garurumon, Garudamon, Lilymon, Mega Kabuterimon and Angemon, alongside what Airdramon told you was a Zudomon. Six ultimates, and one champion with the type advantage over Myotismon. Alongside the cat digimon, Gatomon, and another humanoid digimon, Wizardmon, both powerful Champions themselves. Myotismon was definitely out matched.
In a desperate bid, Myotismon made to attack the girl, the apparent holder of the crest of light. Just as you were about to spring into action and have Airdramon create a portal and grab the girl, the Wizardmon jumped in the way of Myotismon's attack, giving his life for her.
What a splendid friend and digimon that one was. You mourned the loss of such a good subject.
And then, the girls crest erupted into pink light, and before your eyes, you witnessed how utterly bullshit the digivice and crests were when the Gatomon instantly digivolved into an ultimate, female version of Angemon, Angewomon, and finished off the highly injured Myotismon with one final, super effective holy attack.
Not once did they notice you even as they mourned the loss of their friend and celebrated the defeat of Myotismon as you watched from high above.
You waited until they were gone. Because of one simple reason. One of the abilities of your Z-pet, was the ability to store the data of a destroyed digimon and reform them into an egg.
Myotismon was undeserving of your efforts, but, you had taken a liking to Wizardmon and his gallantry.
And as It turned out, that Myotismon was not gone. Somehow, the crazy fool had managed to take energy from every human in all of Odaiba. And reformed, somehow managing to digivolve into another form you had never seen before. Venom Myotismon.
You will admit, you almost panicked for a moment, before, to your stupefied gaze, the partners of the Agumon and Gabumon stepped up, and some how, through getting hit by their siblings digimons attacks...caused their digimon to digivolve from Rookie straight to Mega?
And Mega was actually a thing now? And not just a made up term by Analog, but an actual honest to god thing now in the concepts of the digital world.
WarGreymon and Metal Garurumon. You felt that these digidestined relied on far too much luck and happenstances and power just given to them. But those two digimon, you had to admit, they were magnificent. All the type of power that Machinedramon had, but compressed into a much smaller form, for further explosive power and durability. They even naturally had Chrome Digizoid!
My, how the times had changed since your time as king over the digital world.
That night, you watched over them, as the air ripped open and the digital world was plain in view atop the night sky. Want filled you, so much want. But you watched as the digidestined flew towards the sky in a rainbow glow and disappeared into the digital world.
And then returned not long later, just a mere few hours the portal closing behind them, within a trolley cart of all things, and lacking their digimon.
You bided your time. Rushing in wash foolish, especially...when you had a near defenceless digi-egg to care for. You would wait, and prepare and then return to the digital world when you were ready. After all, you only had Airdramon now and Wizardmon's Digi-egg. You had no dual partner digimon, or mentor figure in Jijimon and all the residents of Floatia who cared for you warmly.
Your digimon subordinate lacked strength. You would beat it into him.
To your utter rage. Months later, you found out, through keeping tabs, not spying on the Digidestined...that the portals between the human world and the digital world, had been sealed. And it would be years before they would open again.
Your manly bellow of rage was legendary.
Well, at the very least, you had hope for the future and projects to work on to keep you busy. Like, tinkering with the digivice for example. And make something from it to your benefit. And Wizardmon's data captured and reformatted into a digi-egg.
It was, surprisingly a lot simpler than you you thought it would be. The coding for the digivice and such was already there of course initially, and you only really needed hardware to fit it into, and then to add more codes into it for a phone function. With Andromon's knowledge and Giromon's technical skillsm you accomplished far more than you had hoped to.
A thin, yet durable touch screen digivice and phone combination. With the digivice powering it, it had more memory than a supercomputer, and had the ability to make calls, send text messages, take photographs, record videos, with bluetooth and infrared capabilities and the ability to connect to the internet.
It was a simple matter to make a mass produceable version. Though without the digivice to power them, they were much, much less powerful. Still, they had the ability to store a couple of gigabytes worth of memory, so they were a technological marvel as far as the current level of technology was to be considered.
Well, the digital world was far beyond the human world technology wise, so it was to be expected.
From there, you had to get the backing of a company to begin making a ton of money to put plans into motion.
It took two months. Mostly because, despite the genius of your invention. People just had a hard time taking a 'child' as young as you seriously. You proved the doubters wrong, when a small company struggling to stay afloat decided to meet with you in their desperation, and saw the salvation the king deigned to grace them with.
And with a little help from Impmon's hypnosis abilities, it wasn't very hard to become the company owner. You made sure to keep the previous owner well paid though and happy. You looked after your subjects after all.
The company was rebranded. Floatia Inc. And within a few months, the Flotia Alpha 1 Mobile Phone hit the shelves, and they sold sublimely. All according to Keikaku.
It took three months before you started seeing enough funds appearing in your account. In the meantime, you spent the time training with your digimon. getting to know them more and learning about the digital world. Your name was on everyone's lips. A child genius, the head of a company at a mere ten years age and having created a technological marvel easily ten years or more ahead of its time.
A less confident person would have used someone as a front man. Not you, you were used to being bowed down to by beings capable of making the human race go extinct. Besides, it was only right as a king that their awe was on you at all times.
You learned that, yes, Floatia was but fairy tale now. And they were very surprised when you revealed to them, that you were the human king spoke of in the tale, the so called 'Sky King' who ruled over the digital world from his flying city.
You learned that Wizardmon, now Impmon, had no grand aspirations. He was the type that while having his own hobbies, lived for the company of friends and family. And you were happy to fulfill that role. He itched to go and let the girl, Kari and her digimon, Gatomon know he was still alive, but he was compliant to wait until you were ready. He took your musings about the fate of your two partners seriously, about what could possibly have killed them, after all, as sublime as WarGreymon and Metal Garurumon had been, just one of your digimon would have crushed the pair of them together with ease. He was determined to get stronger through your teachings to protect not only you and Airdramon, but the girl and the cat digimon and the other digidestined as well. Ah, such a gallant fellow.
Airdramon on the other hand, while much the same with no grand aspirations, enjoyed the warm company of others as well, but much enjoyed a live and let life type of life. He liked to relax, and be casual. But at the same time, he was excited to try new things.
And so three months passed, and you had enough funds to begin the creation of one of your main projects. A Super Computer, one that you could link to your digivice, and enjoy a small portion of the abilities you had with computers within the digital world itself.
You spent three months, and enough money to make the common man piss himself in jealousy. But, by the end of it, you had managed to build not one, not two, but three super computers with processing powers, while not anywhere near the level of what you had access to in the digital world, far beyond probably anything in the human world.
Where before, it would take you a year with multiple dozens of computers to create a single digivolution item for a rookie digimon. With one of these babies, you could make one for a decently powerful champion, within a week.
And then the morning as you finished setting them up. Impmon approached you with something interesting. A Laptop, showing a live feed of a digimon...on the internet.
