"Thanks for picking me up Tamashi. How's he doing right now?" Lavania asked as she got into Tamashi's car.
"He's not at his best but he'll recover soon hopefully. His legs are temporarily paralyzed and his quirk is kicking into overdrive to heal him., if I had to guess, it'd be around a few weeks before he starts walking again. About his quirk… I'm not sure when he will be able to use it like normal." Tamashi explained as she started to drive.
Lavania sighed as she looked down at her legs. She could feel her anger build up but she remembers that she played into this when she didn't intend on this to happen. She takes a deep breath and breathes out to drown out the anxiety she's feeling from this.
"Poor kid…" Blink muttered as he was back at the hospital. After dropping off Ochaco, he picked up a wheelchair that Leizcio could use. Leaving it right by the door, Blink enters the room and sees Lei still sitting in the chair he was in. He had a defeated yet spiteful look in his face. Blink sits to the chair that next to him and tries to comfort him.
"I'm sorry about what happened, kid. I know you're mad right now, but your friend was telling you the truth. We can't always be out there all the time."
"That's easy for anyone else but us to say! Our quirks let us be where we're needed in seconds! We can't just stand by while someone is out there suffering!" Leizcio refutes. As his voice was getting raised, he could feel his body starting to get tired.
Blink sighs but doesn't give up yet.
"It's why we have other people we can have faith in Esperanza. It's okay to depend on others sometimes. We can't do everything ourselves."
Before Leizcio could say another thing, Tamashi and Lavania entered the room.
"Blink, could you leave the room please? This isn't our place to be right now." Tamashi asked as she held the door open. Blink left the room with Tamashi, leaving Lavania and Leizcio by themselves.
"So… Happy to see me now? I'm basically quirkless now. Can barely even let out a fizzle." Leizcio said as a spark appeared for a second from his hand.
"I'm sorry for what I did Leizcio." She calmly said as she moved the chair next to Lei across from him so she could sit and face him.
"Why. Why'd you have to do it Lavania?"
"I thought I was protecting you Leizcio, but I was wrong. I know I can't go back and fix this, and I understand your anger. I'm sorry that I had those thoughts and acted on it."
"I just wanted to help others Lavania! You know that!" Leizcio said, tears starting to drop on his legs.
"I know. I let my fears get the best of me and it made me do this. I went way too far. And I'm sorry for what I said about you being a hero"
"Oh, that 'I was in it for fun?' 'That it was dangerous?' I understand that! I know it's dangerous but I need to help others!"
"I… I was just tired of waiting. I had my quirk and I could help so many people…" Leizcio continued, his throat starting to choke up.
"The Shadows beast villain, all those other petty villains. I know they would cause me some unbearable pain, and it'd be like that every other night… but knowing that I was able to save someone… I could care less. Knowing someone was safe… It was the only reason to keep going back out." Leizcio said, his voice sounding more tired.
"I just didn't want to believe it… Lavania…" Leizcio whispered as he nearly collapsed before Lavania caught him.
Leizcio's right eye was shut and Lavania quickly checked for a pulse. Putting her fingers on his neck, she could feel a slow pulse, that of a regular person. Gently poking his face, he had no response. She carried Leizcio and put him back on the bed.
"I'm so sorry Leizcio." Lavania said quietly as she started to cry. She might've been mad at Leizcio for continuing to be arrogant, but what she did only fed into that. Her sense of guilt at away at everything else as she saw her brother laying, defeated.
Drying off her eyes, Lavania opens the door, letting Tamashi and Blink enter the room.
"Thank you for finding him Tamashi. You too… Blink right?" Lavania asked as she gave Tamashi a strong hug.
"Yeah, you can call me West though. I am sorry for what happened to Leizcio, I hope he recovers soon." West said with disappointment in himself, looking at his intern.
"I think we all are… Thank you Blink for watching out for him when you could, I imagine he might not have been the easiest intern to have."
"Heh, well, he actually wasn't all that bad. He kept on wanting to improve and get better, and he did in less than a week, he ended up learning a new ability." Blink said as he remembers Leizcio training relentlessly.
"I know he's recovering now, but I can tell you one thing Lavania. Your brother is going to be a great hero. I know he got into this vigilante mess and it's not the easiest thing to deal with. But things will get better now that he's been pushed out of it."
"Thank you West. Since internships don't finish until tomorrow, can you take him back to your agency?" Lavania asked as she picked up Leizcio from the bed.
"Of course, I'll make sure to take care of him, and hopefully find out what happened to him." Blink responded as he helped Lavania put Leizcio into the wheelchair.
The three walked outside of the hospital as the sun was creeping its way back up. Checking on Leizcio, he was still passed out from what happened.
"You two take care! I'll update you if anything happens with Leizcio!" Blink said. Lavania and Tamashi gave a small nod to him as they started driving off. Blink then used his quirk to carry over Leizcio in his wheelchair.
In a few seconds, Blink was back at the agency to which Spectro opened the door for. As the two managed to lay Leizcio down on a couch carefully, the two went into Blink's office.
"Did you end up finding anything Spectro?"
"Sorry Blink, but there weren't any cameras in the area working at the time. Whoever did this had it fully planned out since the only thing that you could see was an empty street when the cameras turned back on."
Blink slammed his fist into the desk in anger. He might've been his intern, but he was entrusted to watch out for the kid, and he failed to meet those expectations. It was all too familiar for him.
"Blink, we'll make sure we find them. But for now, we just gotta make sure the kid recovers fast alright?" Spectro assured Blink as he put his arm around him.
"Yeah… Thanks Spectro… We might as well be productive until he wakes up, we got any paperwork to do?"
"Well, maybe not paperwork, but more so an alibi as to why the kid is all beat up. We can't have his teachers knowing that he's a vigilante." Spectro brought up.
"I might've forgotten about that…" Blink said. Spectro just laughed to which Blink lightly jabbed him. The two started to get to work and make a cover-up story for Leizcio.
Whilst they were brainstorming, Leizcio was sleeping but his body was working its fastest. Over his heart, a small glow emanated from it, quietly rebuilding Leizcio's body within.
Whether he took the step by himself or not
Leizcio's days of being a vigilante were over
And his walk to recovery just began
