A little call back to Borderline (2x03)...
The brunette scans the map one last time and once satisfied with the plan, she turns to her partner, seriousness across her face. "You ready to go for a ride?"
He has a sense of deja vu at his wife's words, remembering the last time they were in this situation, but unlike last time, he has verbal response for her. "Ooh, do you think we have time?"
"On the bikes, Deeks, on the bikes." Rolling her eyes, a grin plays at Kensi's lips as she takes the map and slips it into her pocket before walking towards the Park Ranger's trailer.
He lets out a laugh as he chases after her. Just as she starts to slow down he comes up behind her whispering in her ear. "Okay, but now my mind is on other things."
Kensi tries to hide the shiver that courses through her body as his breath hits the shell of her ear. She's so distracted that the frown on the Head Park Ranger's face doesn't register in her brain until the very last second.
"Sorry, guys, it looks like we only have the one bike, the other's crankshaft is a goner."
The former detective slings his arm around his wife's shoulders with an understanding smile directed towards the woman. "That's okay, we don't mind. It'll give us a little extra bonding time. Say, you don't have a duel helmet, do you? Now that we could really put to some good use."
"You're an idiot." She shakes her head in disbelief. "I married an idiot."
A sudden look of realization crosses the Ranger's face along with a smile as she looks back and forth between the pair. "Oh, that explains it."
"Explains what?" Kensi's brow furrows in question.
The blonde woman's heart feels a little stronger now knowing that the flirtation that she had been witness to is real and it makes her believe in love a little bit more. "Why he keeps making those comments and you seem mad at first but then when he turns around you have this goofy grin on your face like he hangs the moon and stars."
Deeks' eyes light up at the observation, turning to his wife with a Cheshire Cat like grin. "Ohh, really?"
The Special Agent's eyes go wide and quickly places her helmet on her head trying to hide the redness in her face that has nothing to do with the hot desert sun. "No time to chat, we gotta go."
