Eks had been stopped twice this week from leaving. Once was by Hoff, and the other was by Kayed-6 himself, but finally he made it to his ship in the hanger. He was surprised to find it wasnt under lockdown, but Holiday just shrugged. "You'd have to really piss the Vanguard off on a personal level for someone of your status to be detained here. You are free Eks. Just wait your turn to leave."

GHOST had prepped the ship and Eks was finished loading up, all that was left was to wait for their clearance. He tapped his fingers on the control panel impatiently as he watched the storm rage outside. He'd have to rely on his ships instruments to navigate to the atmosphere.

Wisp appeared next to his head. "Only two ahead of us Eks. Patients."

Eks took in a deep breath and let it out slowly as he stopped his finger tapping.

"It doesn't rain where we are going, but now that I see it I miss it. Maybe it wouldnt be so bad to patrol Earth, just for a little bit when we get back." He pondered.

"Like I said earlier, that is an option. The board said some nomads have requested help crossing the Indian sea in exchange for some sort of weapon they claim that found."

"Sounds like something a Kinder-Guardian would fall for. I wonder how much time we have wasted on missions of promised weapons? I know that you know Wisp, I would actually rather not know."

"I know."

They sat in silence for a while, Eks kept peeking outside. Wisp softly played elevator music.

"Wisp, has anyone noticed our absence?"

"Easy Eks. Scribe checked your status about 20 minutes ago, but he's still on Mars. Eeryone else is busy going about their lives. The only person I can think of that might think to check on you is Hoff, and hes been obsessed with some Vex-powered gauntlet he just finished." I would double check that scope if I were you."

"That's what I have you for! Your right though, I'll let you give it a once over at the reef."

At long last a robotic voice came over the speaker: Ranger-1, you are cleared for takeoff.

Eks gave a whoop "Finall-"

BOOM!

An explosion rocked the Tower as Eks and many others that day were caught up in the massive explosion that was the Cabal's initial attack. There are no official records of those lost on that day, as many who did not perish in the assault fled into the wilderness and died later, or became nomads. It is not known how many of those people were Guardians, but the Cryptarchs have the estimate at half.

Remember the Red Day Guardians. And never let it happen again.
