Kamishipping (Seto x Jonouchi x Yami no Yugi)
. . .
If Seto Kaiba was going to be honest with himself, he really didn't give a shit about arcade games. Sure, he had played them, but at the time it had mostly just been because he liked the look on people's faces when they saw the name KAI emblazoned at the top of every single list in the arcade, liked hearing people's amazement when they realized that these games were connected to all the arcades across the country through the Internet and their shock that someone was that good to have gotten the highest score in everything.
But since he had gotten more busy with his work as a CEO, he insisted that he didn't have time to play silly games like that anymore. They weren't even all that interesting to him in the end. Yes, that chapter was behind him.
Until the day Mokuba walked into the office after school, as he usually did, sat down on the couch, like usual, and said nonchalantly,
"Hey, so I stopped by the arcade on the way home...someone's beaten your score at a couple of the games."
Despite himself, Seto's head snapped up.
"What?"
And that was how he had found himself standing outside the arcade in a plain black turtleneck and dark jeans with a hat pulled over his eyes so as not to attract any more attention than he wanted to.
He stepped in out of the cold, the heat rushing through the doors and into his face as he entered. The soft sound effects of various games pinged through the room. Most of the people in here were under the age of fourteen, but there were some taller and more grizzled figures as well, so Seto didn't stick out too much. Now, which games had Mokuba mentioned?
The idea occurred to him that Mokuba might have just made it all up to get him out of the house, and he was about to mentally congratulate Mokuba on his sneakiness when his eyes caught on a screen.
The game was Dream Boxer, and it was one of the better fighting games in the arcade, one of the types that you could have two people sitting on either side fight against each other, or play yourself. There was his own signature, KAI, but it was only at number two. The number one spot was...
Oh please no.
The letters JOU glowed at the top of the list. There was no way. It wasn't possible. It had to be a mistake. Or it was someone else. Had to be someone else. There was no way he was second place to...
The door jingled behind him.
"All right, Yug! I got myself the top score on one game – let's go for another today!" said an all-too-familiar, grating voice.
"Continuing your invasion of Kaiba's high scores, hm?" said a deeper, more amused tone.
Seto groaned mentally. He would have tried to move out of sight, but it was too late, he was standing right in their line of vision, and there was no way he was well disguised enough to fool those two.
"Oy!" Jonouchi said, surprised. "Kaiba? What are you doing here?"
Seto sighed. Great.
"None of your business, Jonouchi," he said as he turned around. "Yugi."
It was the "back" Yugi, Seto noted, as he was standing a bit straighter and his eyes were a deep crimson. Yugi nodded in response to Seto's greeting.
"Oh!" Jonouchi said, eyes lighting up. "I bet you heard I beat your score and you got pissed! That's why you're here, right? I'll take you on any day!"
"Like I have the time or patience to deal with you," Seto said. "Besides, I could take that score back whenever I felt like it. I'm just not interested in these silly games anymore."
"Silly, hm? I wonder why you showed up then..." Yami no Yugi said, mischief in his voice.
Seto bristled slightly.
"Yugi..." he started.
"I wonder if now's a good time to tell him that I beat his score on Pacman," Yami no Yugi said, glancing at Jonouchi.
"Or how about how little Yugi beat his score at Tetris the other day?" Jonouchi sniggered. "And how Anzu has always had the high score on DDR."
"DDR isn't even a real game," Seto snapped. "Wait, you beat my Pacman score?"
The two other boys flashed mischievous grins at him.
Seto felt his scowl growing – but a hint of interest was flaming in his chest.
"You know, it kind of sounds like you two are trying to challenge me," he said. "I'm going to show you that's not a good idea."
Their grins only got wider.
It was dark outside long before any of them started thinking about going home.
. . .
A/N: ba-bam, another one written, that one was cute right? Next up is Kamenshipping (Yami no Kamen x Hikari no Kamen), those are the Luna Steves. You know, the rare hunters with the masks. "Mask" in Japanese is "kamen", and one of them has a moon mask and the other has a sun mask so they're "dark mask" and "light mask", which are stupid names but there you go.
