In spite of herself, she was lost in it almost immediately. In the feel of his mouth on hers, of the tip of his tongue gently parting her lips. Of how he darted and teased and tasted.
In spite of herself, she nipped playfully at his tongue, caressed it with her own ….
And then she remembered with an unpleasant jolt who she was kissing.
Breaking the kiss, she stared up at him stunned. "What was that?"
"I … I …." He cringed and shook his head, perfectly aware how ridiculous this was about to sound. "I got really excited about the possibilities and I …." His dark eyes narrowed. "I've strong reason to suspect my impulse control might be compromised around you. I thought I could kiss you and then I just was."
She pushed his hands away, flustered. "Yes, well … work on that."
"Says the woman who kissed me back." Yes, must be an impulse control problem he thought, because the words were out of his mouth as soon as they crossed his mind.
Her features fixing in a lethal expression, she just about hissed out the words, "I beg your pardon?"
