Jasmineshipping (Thief King Bakura x Kisara x Marik Ishtar)
. . .
He dreamed of jasmine flowers.
Marik laid in the field, staring up at the great blue sky overhead. The world was framed in white, the bobbing petals of the flowers dancing in the breeze around him, overhead. He didn't know why he came here in his sleep. He had never before seen a place like this in his life, and he had started having these dreams even before he had left the tombs. When he left the halls of his forebears, he had thought fate might lead him to the place in his dream. That perhaps something was calling to him. But he never did find the field, except in his dreams. No place in reality could have as endless of a horizon as this place did. No matter how far he would walk in the dream, he would never find the end of the flowers.
So he had stopped trying, and simply laid among them, enjoying the brief peace, enjoying the breeze that tickled his face and played with his hair as the blossoms bobbed low near his face.
Sometimes he knew he could hear the flowers whispering. He wondered what they were saying—but it was in a language older than humanity, and he could not understand it. He could only get...feelings. Feelings of something watching over him, sometimes a flower touching his head but feeling more like a hand touching his head softly—but when he turned to look, it was only a flower.
He drew in a breath, coming back to the current dream. For a moment, the world seemed to sharpen, as though coming into a focus greater than his eyes could comprehend. She was here again. The presence.
He sat up so that his head just cleared the flowers. No matter how tall he grew, the flowers seemed to grow with him, so that sitting among them, his head only just poked over the tops of the blossoms.
He could see the flowers parting, like someone walked through them, but like always, there was no one there. No one that he could see, anyway, beyond the shape of their footsteps parting the grasses.
"Hello," he called. "I haven't seen you for a while."
The wind whispered past his ears and he knew she was responding. She came right before him, and he heard the wind sigh as the grass spread into a flat space, as though she were sitting down.
"Why can't I see you?" he asked, as always. "This is a dream, right? Shouldn't anything be possible?"
The wind played with his hair briefly, and he thought she must be smiling.
He didn't know why he knew she was a "she." It was just...one of the things he seemed to know in the dream. The way he knew that her hair fluttered in the breeze, the same color as the flowers that surrounded them.
"Why are you here?" he whispered. "Why do you keep coming to me?"
Another whistling wind tightening around him, feeling colder, like a warning. His eyes rose up to the faraway spot of shadow on the sky. A stain of storm clouds, that hovered always at the edge of this world. He could see lightning crackle inside the nimbus. See the shadowy stain that seemed to turn the flowers into dust underneath it as it tried to creep closer, always creeping closer.
Eventually, Marik knew it would catch on the wind and draw back. She would keep it at bay. Keep the other presence away, the one that scarred the ground with lightning, the winds that sounded like distant, cruel laughter.
He felt her hand in his hair, the caress across his cheek like a mother comforting him.
You must not let that approach.
"I know," he said to the impression of words.
Then,
"What...is it?"
He felt her fingers run down his hair, as though she wanted to pull him against her, shield him, bu she could not.
Do not seek revenge.
It is what he wants.
He can't be here for his own revenge, and seeks you to carry it out for him.
Do not seek revenge.
For just a moment, he thought her voice might break through the veil of air that kept him from truly hearing it. For a moment, he thought he could see her, with her blue eyes and jasmine white hair, and him, with his twisted scar smile and hair more the color of bones than jasmine.
And then he awoke.
And the flowers were gone.
