I hope you are all ready! Before we continue with the story, a guest asked for the ages. They are listed at the beginning of chapter 14! Now onto the dinner!

Once they entered the room Puck stood up. "Mom, Dad this is my boyfriend Noah. You might remember him from Lima" Quinn said. "It's a pleasure to meet you," Puck said, putting his hand out. Russell shook his hand while Judy pulled him into a hug. "It is so nice to meet you, Quinn has told us so much about you," Judy said with a smile. "Santana, is this your boyfriend?" Judy asked, referring to the gentleman sitting at the table. Brett had still not turned around.

"Um no he's not my boyfriend," Santana said. Brett took a deep breath and turned around. "Hi mom," he said, getting up from his chair. Judy's face dropped looking at her little boy all grown up. Santana looked at Russell, he looked as if he saw a ghost. As the silence enveloped the room, Russell's face became angry. "Brett," Judy said, just above a whisper. She reached out and placed her hands on her son's cheeks. "You are so grown-up," Judy said. "Yeah that's what happens when you don't see your son for years," Brett said. Russell stepped forward and when he did so did Santana. "Don't speak to her that way," Russell said. Before Brett could respond, Quinn interrupted "Come on everyone, let's take a seat" she said. Russell grabbed Judy's arm pulling her to the other side of the table. Santana gave Brett's hand a squeeze before taking her seat. The 6 people all took a seat at the round table. In a circle, they sat Santana, Brett, Puck, Quinn, Russell, and Judy.

No one spoke as they ordered their drinks, "And for you sir?" the waiter asked Brett. "I'll take a double whiskey neat," he said. "San you want to split a bottle of cab with my mom and me?" Quinn asked Santana. She nodded and the waiter went on his way with everyone's order. All Santana wanted at that moment was the glass of wine, it could not come soon enough.

"So mom, dad, how was your drive in from New Haven?" Quinn asked, breaking the awkward silence. "It was long" was all Judy said. "Are you driving back after dinner?" Quinn asked. "Quinnie, think before you ask questions, of course not," Russell said. "We decided to get a hotel room," Judy quickly added. "So Noah, what are you doing with your life?" Russell asked, turning his gaze to Puck. "Well I am a plumber, I just got into the union" Puck explained. Santana smiled, Puck was really excited when he got in; he tried really hard. "That is really great and you live here in the city?" Judy asked. The waiter had just gotten their drinks and was passing them out. "Yeah, I share an apartment with another friend of ours from Lima," Puck said. "So you went to college just to become a plumber," Russell said, unimpressed. "I didn't go to a typical college like Santana and Quinn, I went to a trade school," Puck said. "How do you expect to support my daughter? Or do you just expect her to provide for you?" Russell asked.

"Daddy!" Quinn said. "No Quinn, it's okay. Plumbers actually make pretty good money, since everyone needs their toilets fixed plus I don't have any school loans" Puck explained laughing. The rest of the group laughed while Russell sat stone-faced. Santana looked over at Brett who sat silently, drinking his whiskey. All she wanted to do was sit on his lap and tell him that everything was okay.

"What are your intentions with Quinn?" Russell asked. Santana was shocked at how blunt Russell was being. She had met him multiple times and he was usually pretty personable. This is not the Russell that Santana knew from Lima, she is pretty sure that this is the guy that use to hurt Brett.

"Russell, honey. You can't just ask that?" Judy said, trying to keep a smile in front of the group. "Why not? This is my only child and I am worried about her" Russell explained. "Dad, you don't need to worry about Puck," Quinn said, letting his nickname slip. "Puck, what the hell is that?" Russell asked. "My nickname. My full name is Noah Puckerman, everyone just calls me Puck." Puck explained. Russell of course did not look too impressed. He turned his attention directly to Quinn, "You want to marry a plumber who calls himself Puck" Russell asked. Santana grabbed her glass taking a large gulp. "Woah, who said anything about marriage?" Quinn asked. "Isn't that why you wanted us to meet him. You're getting older Quinnie, you need to think about giving us grandchildren." Russel said.

Quinn's eyes widened and Puck grabbed his beer, drinking it. Judy started laughing and smacked her husband, "oh Russell, you are so funny" she said. "I am not making a joke, I am completely serious," Russell said. "Well Brett's older, he can give you grandkids" Quinn pointed out. Santana looked over at Brett who had no idea what to say. "That would be wonderful!" Judy said, smiling at her little boy. "Those wouldn't be my grandchildren," Russell said with no emotion. Santana could see the anger building inside Brett. Judy let her smile drop, she looked hurt. "Daddy," Quinn said, softly.

"So Brett honey, how are you?" Judy asked, looking at Brett. She needed to move forward and get the topic off the previous one. He finally pulled his eyes from his glass and met his mother's gaze. "I'm good" was all Brett said. "You're living here in the city too?" she asked. "Yup, I live with Quinn and Santana right now" Brett explained. "So you're a freeloader?" Russell said, meeting Brett's eyes for the first time the entire night. Santana couldn't just sit back and listen to Russell talk anymore. "No, he's not, he is staying with us while he recovers" Santana explained. "How is your recovery going?" Judy asked. You could tell she truly cares for her son and is interested in his progress. "I finally got out of my sling and I am working toward building my strength back up. It is a slow progress" Brett said. "Brett even got another job on top of still getting paid by the military," Quinn added. "That is great! Where do you work?" Judy asked. "I work at a gym that is owned by a military buddy of mine, I am a trainer there," Brett explained. "That is.." Judy started to say before Russell cut her off, "That is not a job" he said.

"Pretty sure I get a paycheck so I think it is'' Brett said. "Don't get smart with me," Russell threatened. "Or what?" Brett challenged back. Santana looked to Puck who also could feel the tension building in the room. "What is everyone thinking of getting for dinner?" Judy asked, smiling. Santana just looked at her. Was she in denial about her husband's blatant hatred for her soon or did she really not see it?

Russell turned to his wife and started discussing what they were going to get for dinner. Everyone seemed preoccupied looking at the menu or talking. Santana looked at Brett who was just staring at his whiskey glass and rolling his wrist; watching the liquid move. Santana knew that Brett didn't want Russell to know about them but she couldn't just sit there and do nothing. She reached her hand over and placed it on his lap, completely out of view from the rest of the table. Brett immediately shifted his gaze to Santana who was smiling. No matter how angry Brett was, he was a sucker for Santana's million-dollar smile. Brett smiled back as she squeezed his leg. "What are you thinking for dinner?" she asked him. "I don't even know, I am not that hungry" Brett said.

Santana pursed her lips, "That is a lie, I know you can literally eat your weight in food" she said. Brett groaned and knew that she was right. "How about we split something?" Santana suggested. "Sure, order whatever and I'll have some," Brett said, taking another sip on his whiskey. The waiter went around and took everyone's order. "And for you sir?" he asked Brett. "I'll have another double whiskey," he said. The waiter wrote that down and waited for Brett to order food. The waiter looked confused when Brett said nothing else. Santana spoke up, "We are actually going to split food." she said. The waiter smiled and burned his attention to her. "We'll get the 14oz filet, cooked medium with mashed potato and Brussel sprouts," she said while handing her menu over. "Thanks," Brett said to Santana. She gave his leg one final squeeze before pulling her hand back to her lap.

"Santana, you have been awfully quiet. How has everything been?" Judy asked. The attention of the table shifted to Santana, which she was fine with if it got Russell off Brett and Puck's back. "It has been really great! Work has been extremely busy which is nice but also bad because it means someone is hurt" Santana explained. "She won her last case and once they catch this guy she is going to win that case too," Quinn said smiling big. "That is great Santana, I knew both of you were going to do so well when you both got into law school," Russell said, smiling. Unlike Santana's parents, the Fabray's looked at law school as power so they were proud of Quinn and Santana. "Who would have thought 2 Lima cheerleaders would become these big-shot lawyers'' Judy said, finishing another glass of wine.

"Santana, I actually talked to your father the other day," Russell said. "You did? Why is that?" Santana asked. "A buddy of mine had to have heart surgery and your dad is the best I know. So I called him up and he was nice enough to rearrange his schedule to get him in. They are already scheduling his surgery, extremely efficient." He explained. "I am sorry about your friend but I am glad my father could help," San said. "So when is that boyfriend of yours going to put a ring on it," Judy asked, showing off a cheeky grin. Santana looked shocked, boyfriend, what boyfriend. She looked around the table, Quinn and Puck both looked confused while Brett looked hurt.

"He was a very nice boy and told us how excited he is to start a family with you. Quinn you should really take a page out of Santana's book" Russell said, taking a sip of the new beer the waiter brought. Brett quickly grabbed his whiskey glass and took a large gulp. "I am sorry, I have no idea what you guys are talking about," Santana said. The older Fabray's looked confused. "When we met your parents for dinner, your boyfriend came and said that you got called in so you couldn't make it to dinner. He went on and on about you, completely smitten" Judy explained. "What was this guy's name?" Santana asked, even though she knew exactly who it was. "Dr. Smythe, what was his first name again?" Judy asked her husband. "Sebastian" Russel added.

Santana couldn't help but roll her eyes as Quinn started laughing. "What is so funny?" Judy asked, looking between the girls. "Sebastian is not my boyfriend, in fact, he is my ex who happens to work with my father," San explained. Brett let out a breath that he was holding. At first, he didn't know where this conversation was going but now he realized it was just Sebastian trying to slither his way into Santana's life again. Santana took another gulp of her wine. She could feel herself getting tipsy. At first, she didn't want to drink too much but at this point, Santana decided to fuck it, she was going to drink as much as she wanted.

"You should rethink the ex suffix because he is a fine and accomplished young man" Russell stated. "Trust me I thought about my decision long and hard. I am glad that I am not with Sebastian anymore" Santana said. "Well if that makes you happy then I am all for it" Judy said. "Are you seeing anyone else?" Russell asked. Santana badly wanted to say that she was seeing Brett and that he was an amazing man no thanks to them but she knew that's not what Brett wanted. "No I am not seeing anyone" Santana said, a touch of sadness to her voice. The only person that picked up that sadness was Brett. At that moment he felt bad that he hadn't had the balls to ask her out. Brett felt even worse than he has placed all his demons on Santana who has enough on her plate and now he is asking her to lie.

Quinn and Puck both looked confused, it wasn't a secret that Brett and Santana were seeing each other, they wondered why she wasn't admitting it. But the thing is, Quinn and Puck have known Santana long enough to know that she thinks everything through. Which means there is a reason why she lied so they both kept their mouth shut. "Well someone is going to snatch you up soon," Judy said, laughing. Judy was well on her way to being drunk, especially as the waiter dropped off another bottle of wine.

The waiter also dropped off their food. Santana split hers onto the empty plate and slid it over to Brett. The group began to eat. Maybe just maybe we were going to get through this dinner without Russell and Brett really speaking, Santana thought. Boy was she wrong.

"How is everyone's dinner?" Judy asked the group. Is this woman really that oblivious to the growing tension that is completely enveloping the room, Santana thought as Judy grinned to the rest of the table. "It is very good Mrs. Fabray" Puck said. "What took you so long to ask out my daughter? You said that you grew up in Lima but this is the first time you guys have dated?" Russell asked. "Well we have all been friends for a while, I was also in glee club with Quinn. I guess I just realized that I really liked her and took the chance." Puck explained. "In fact, it was actually Brett that helped me realize it and pushed me to ask her out" he added. Russell frowned at the mention of Brett's name while the rest of the table smiled.

Brett knew how much Quinn meant to Puck and it was nice to see him confess that in front of everyone. Brett only wished he could do that for Santana because she deserved it, she deserved to have someone scream from the rooftops about how amazing she was.

"How did you manage that?" Judy asked Brett. "I saw how much they loved each other, it was pretty obvious," Brett said. "It really was," Santana added. "Then I told him straight up like friends are supposed to," Brett explained. "What now you are taking all of Quinn's friends too?" Russell asked. Brett tightened his grip on his fork. Was this guy ever going to stop with all the digs?

"What is your problem with me?" Brett asked. "I don't have a problem with you, I am just pointing out the obvious" Russell said, smirking. "Brett isn't taking Quinn's friends. We all got to know him and really like him. It actually feels like he has been a part of our group forever" Puck said, hoping to calm the situation down. Russell didn't even turn his attention to Puck when he talked.

"Can't even make your own friends, maybe it is because you punch first and ask questions later" Russell said. Brett slammed his hands on the table making the dishes rattle. "There is that temper I knew you always had, got it from you dead beat father" Russell states, smirking. "Daddy" "Russell" Quinn and Judy both said at the exact same time. "No, I am done sitting here at a table with him and keeping my mouth shut" Russell yelled. "Then don't keep your mouth shut because I am right here," Brett said, leaning back in his chair with his whiskey glass in his hand. Russell looked like steam was about to come shooting out of his ears. He opened his mouth but then closed it again as the waiter came in the room with a busboy. "Let me clear some of these plates, how was everything?" the waiter asked. Everyone smiled and said good, except for Brett and Russell; their eyes were trained on each other.

The busboys cleared the plates, "can I get you guys anything else?" The waiter asked. "Can we get another round of drinks, because we just got to really start talking after almost ten years of not seeing one another?" Brett said, smirking. The sarcasm in Brett's voice went completely over the waiter's head as he smiled and left to get the drinks.

"What the hell is your motive for coming and ruining this dinner?" Russell asked. "He isn't ruining anything and he is here because I invited him. Mommy really wanted to see him and I wanted him here" Quinn explained. "You moved into my daughter's house and manipulated her," Russel said, gritting his teeth. "You're just pissed because you tried so hard to keep us apart and it did not work" Brett snapped back. "It only didn't work because you had to go and get yourself injured," he said. "That is what you think but Quinn and I have been talking for years," Brett said back, grinning.

Santana watched the grin on Brett's face widen as a scowl appeared on Russell's. "What the hell is he talking about Quinnie?" Russell said, snapping his head toward Quinn. His tone completely changed and now it seemed that he was directing his anger toward his own daughter. Puck reached out and put his hand on Quinn's. It seemed as though Puck was telling Russell to back off.

Quinn looked scared as she began to speak, "I got in contact with him again. He is my big brother daddy." Russell laughed, "He isn't your real brother." he said. "Russell, Brett is my child which makes him Quinn's brother," Judy said, finally piping up. "No, he is the result of you being a slut and hooking up with a drug dealer," Russell said. Brett quickly stood up with his hands planted on the table, "Don't call her a slut" Brett yelled.

The waiter walked in very awkwardly with a tray full of drinks. "Here we go," the waiter said smiling. Santana grabbed Brett's hand, "Sit down, please" She begged. Brett slowly sat back down in his chair, keeping a hold of her hand. Once Brett caught Russell's gaze again, he quickly dropped Santana's hand. She missed his touch but Santana understood his motives and knew at this moment not to push him. Santana finished her glass and poured some more wine into her glass.

Once the waiter left it was like the elephant entered the room once again. "You can try and keep Quinn and I apart but it will never work again. I am a grown-ass adult which means you can't just ship me away again" Brett spat. "What is Brett talking about? Who shipped him away?" Quinn asked, looking from her brother to her parents. Santana looked at Puck who was staring right back, this is not going to be good and they both knew it.

"You want to tell her or should I," Brett asked. Judy looked so sad. "You told me that Brett's dad won custody over him and that is why he just left one day," Quinn said. "That is what you told her?" Brett asked. "Well that kinda happened but it doesn't matter because we are all together again," Judy said trying to sound hopeful. Brett and Santana looked at Judy in disbelief, since they were the only two who knew the truth. "It does matter because you signed your rights away because of him," Brett said, pointing to Russell. "You made your mother do that all on your own" Russell snapped back. "I was a kid who got into a fight, I didn't deserve that," Brett said, finally standing up for himself. "I am so confused, what the hell are you all talking about?" Quinn asked, raising her voice.

Puck moved his hand to her leg, hoping to calm her down. Russell stayed silent while Judy just stared at her hands. Brett realized that neither were going to tell Quinn. "I got into a fight and school which they expelled me for. Russell here told mom that she needed to sign over her rights to Brian or he was going to take you away. The next day, Brian a guy I had never even met, came and got me" Brett explained. Santana knew how hard it was to listen to the story herself which means it is probably ten times harder for Quinn. She looked over at her best friend who looked like she had been given the worst news in the world.

"What? How could you guys do that?" Quinn asked, looking at her parents. "We were better off without him, you were better off" Russell explained, trying to gain his daughter's support. "That is not your decision to make, he was just a kid and you pulled him from his home," Quinn said, her voice breaking. "It was my home not his," Russell spat. Quinn looked at him in disbelief, this was not the father she knew. "How did I not know this? Why didn't anyone tell me?" Quinn asked. "You were there Quinn," Brett said. Quinn turned to her older brother, "I was?" she asked. "You ran out of the house to get to me but your dad stopped you" Brett explained. It was like everything in Quinn's perfect childhood came crashing down. The memory that she tried so hard to bury came catapulting back to the surface. Quinn saw it in her head. Her little self running toward her big brother screaming. She remembers feeling so sad and abandoned for so long. "I-I-I-I remember now," she said, unsure. "You guys just gave away my brother to someone who was a stranger to him," Quinn said, turning angry.

Puck looked to Santana as if asking her what he should do. Santana had no idea and just shook her head. They needed to get this all out.

"It wasn't a stranger, it was his father," Judy said, trying to defend what they did. "A man that Brett had never even met!" Quinn yelled. Puck tightened his grasp on Quinn's leg hoping to calm her down. "He was fine, it isn't even a big deal," Russell said, nonchalantly. Brett looked at him in disbelief. "Not a big deal? He was a drug dealer who was addicted to heroin and you just gave him a 10-year-old! Do you know what that was like for me!" Brett yelled.

Santana looked over at him, the guy she was falling for. She didn't know anything about Brett's birth father until now and all she wanted to do was cry and hold him. Even Puck and Quinn looked like they were going to break hearing the hurt and anger in Brett's voice. Judy was now shedding tears upon imaging what her little boy went through. Russell on the other hand looked completely unphased.

"You made your mother upset, apologize" Russell commanded. "No, all I did was state the truth" Brett bluntly stated. "You will apologize to her or'' Russell started to say before Brett cut him off. "Or what? You're going to hit me? I am not a defenseless little boy anymore, I can finally fight back" Brett stated. Dropping that bombshell made Russell's eyes basically turn black. Puck now understood where Santana was coming from during their conversation. He looked over at his girlfriend who's mouth dropped. "You hit him?" she asked, turning to her father. " I didn't do anything that he didn't deserve," Russell said. Santana couldn't believe her ears, he was a child. No child deserves that. "Did you know about this?" Quinn asked her mother. Judy's sad eyes met her daughters, she opened her mouth to speak but then closed it again. Judy's silence was all the answer the table needed.

Quinn ran her fingers through her hair, this was all too much. "Are you happy?" Russell asked, looking at Brett. "Are you happy that you ruined my family again?" He added. "I didn't ruin anything. You did this all yourself, I just showed the true you" Brett said. "I am so sorry" Judy sobbed. "Don't apologize to him, you have nothing to apologize for" Russell said to his wife before turning his attention to Brett. Russell pointed at him, "You are nothing and you will never deserve happiness" he said while his eyes threw daggers at Brett.

What Russell said really hit Santana hard. It brought her back to her parents and the reason she got her tattoo. Russell is saying the exact thing she is trying to get Brett not to believe. Brett deserved happiness and Santana can't just sit here any longer.

"That is not true! Brett is an amazing guy who deserves everything. You tried so hard to break him but you know what, it didn't work." Santana said, letting Snix make an appearance. Russell looked between Brett and Santana before he started to laugh. "I see what is going on here," Russell said, smirking. "Enlighten me" Santana snapped back. "First you freeload on your sister's couch. Then you wiggle your way into her friend group to make it your own. Now you are screwing her best friend, to what? Take her money and then just run away" Russell said. Brett pointed at him, "don't talk about her" he said. Now that the cat is out of the bag, Santana puts her hand on Brett's knee.

"I am not stupid. Lima is a small town and word gets around very quickly. I heard those rumors about Santana. She's easy, that is why you picked her out of everyone in the group" Russell said. Before anyone could react Brett jumped up, flipping his chair over. Russell got up just as quickly. "I WILL KILL YOU" Brett yelled charging at Russell. Judy's tears continued to pour down as she quickly moved back away from the table. Puck jumped between the two while Santana tried to pull him back."He is not worth it dude" Puck said, trying to get through to him. Quinn also grabbed at her brother to try and pull him back. "Why don't you do everyone a favor and go back to war," Russell said. Brett finally stopped fighting back and stood staring at him in disbelief. A few employees came running in, "we are going to call the cops if you guys don't calm down" one of them said.

Brett started at Russell, "I will be going back to war because I am twice the man you will ever be. And if I ever have a family and children, I will treat my wife with the respect she deserves and I will never lay a hand on my child, or any child as a matter of fact. If I ever see you again or you say anything about Santana, I will show you what it is like to actually go against someone your own size because I am not a child anymore Russell! I will not just sit back and take your abuse, not anymore" Brett said. Brett grabbed his coat and walked out of the room. Santana was shocked about what just transpired. Judy was crying in the corner, Quinn is crying, Puck looks like he is also about to punch Russell and Russell is standing there stunned at Brett's monologue.

One specific thing stood out to Santana during that entire speech. Brett was going to go back to war. She always kinda knew that was going to happen but hearing him say that made it a reality. The guy that she really cared about and was really falling for is going to go back to war. He has already been hurt once, would he get hurt again? Would he die? Santana knew she couldn't handle that. This guy made her feel important. Brett made her feel successful and happy, he can't just leave, she just got him. The weepiness inside her wanted to come out, all Santana wanted to do was cry. Quinn's yelling brought Santana out of her little trance.

Quinn ran over and started hitting her father, "I HATE YOU" she said through her tears. Puck wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her back. Puck started whispering something into her ear but Santana couldn't hear it. Santana looked over at Judy who was just mumbling over and over that she was sorry.

Santana grabbed her purse and coat, putting it on. She grabbed Quinn's and gave it to Puck, "let's go'' San said. "Santana'' Russell said. She doesn't even know why she turned around but she did. "You're a good girl. You don't want to mess around with someone like Brett. He is going to just go back overseas and probably die. Get back with your doctor boyfriend, he will take care of you" he said. Santana could not believe her ears. How could someone so casually say that someone is going to die in war? She felt her blood boil. "You are a disgusting human being, how could you say that?" Santana asked, walking closer to him. Puck let go of Quinn and reached to grab San but she pulled her arm from his grasp. "Brett is an amazing man. He is kind, brave, and caring. No thanks to you." she said, still walking closer. "You see I'm not as nice as Brett, I have no problem going on Lima Heights on your ass" Snix yelled. Russell stepped toward her and Puck lunged forward coming between them. "Don't lay a hand on her," Puck threatened. "I don't hit girls," Russell replied. "So you only hit children," Santana spat back. Russell's eyes went black, he was pissed. Puck turned to her, "Come on, let's go find Brett" he whispered. Santana nodded, Brett needed her.

Santana walked out first with both Quinn and Puck right behind her. As she walked out, she wondered about the bill they racked up but then she remembered that Russell was still in the private room, he can pay.

Once Santana reached the hostess stand, she turned to her, "Have you seen a tall man with blonde hair who probably walked out looking extremely angry?" Santana asked. The hostess nodded, "He ran out but I am not sure where he went" she said. Santana thanked her and went outside. "Do you see him?" She asked Quinn and Puck. They all looked around but Brett was nowhere in sight. Santana pulled out her cell and tried to call him but it went straight to voicemail. Brett turned off his phone. "Damn it, he turned it off" San said.

"We need to find him!" Quinn said through her tears. "We will Quinn," Santana reassured her. "Maybe he just needed some space, this whole night has been crazy especially for him," Puck said. "What do we do?" Santana asked him. "I think we should just go home. Maybe Brett is on his way there" Puck suggested. "But what if he isn't there either," Quinn asked. "Then I am not sure but I think that once he cools off home is where he is going to go," Puck said. Santana nodded, Puck was right. The trio got an uber and made their way to Quinn and Santana's apartment. Once they were there, Santana checked the whole place. Brett wasn't home and by the looks of it, he hasn't been there since before dinner. "Come on Quinn, let's get you changed," Puck said softly to her. She nodded and walked into her room with her.

Santana made her way into her room. Brett's clothes that he was wearing the previous night were still on her floor. She pulled off her clothes and threw on a pair of leggings and the long sleeve shirt Brett pulled off when she conceived him not to go for a run. She needed to feel close to him, Santana wrapped her arms around herself and inhaled deeply. It still smelled like him.

Santana tried to call him again but nothing. She quickly dialed another number hoping that they would know where he was.

Santana- hey Carrie, it's Santana

Carrie- hey! Is everything okay?

Santana- not really, have you seen or talked to Brett tonight?

Carrie- no, Aaron and I have been home all night. What happened?

Santana- We had that dinner tonight with Russell.

Carrie- and it didn't go well?

Santana- nope, he ran out of the restaurant. I couldn't follow him because Quinn was sobbing. Now I have no idea where he is and he's not answering his phone.

Carrie- this might be a long shot but when needed to just think and escape he would always go to Riverside Park.

Santana- you think he would be there?

Carrie- That is the only place I can think of, especially with the gym closed

Santana- okay I'll try there, but if you or Aaron hear from him please let me know.

Carrie- I will, text me when you find him.

Santana- definitely, thanks, Carrie!

Carrie- bye (hangs up)

Santana grabbed one of Brett's sweatshirts and threw on her Nike sneakers. She made her way into the living room. "Where are you going?" Puck asked her. "Carrie told me about a park that Brett would go to think, so I am checking there" San explained. "Why don't you just stay here and wait for him to come home?" Puck suggested. "Would you sit here if it was Quinn?" She asked him. "That's not the same, Brett can handle himself," he said. "I don't care, he needs someone! So stay here with Quinn, I'll be back" San said before walking out.

Their apartment wasn't too far from the park so Santana just walked there. It also wasn't too late so there were a ton of people on the streets. I guess it made sense since it was Thursday night in the city. As she walked into the park, Santana wondered why she had never been here before. This park was beautiful. It had views of the Hudson River and the city, no wonder Brett liked it here. Santana walked around keeping her eyes peeled for her soldier. She walked around for 15 minutes and there was no sign of him, she wanted to cry so bad. Santana was about to give up when she saw the silhouette of a man sitting on a bench near the water. She walked closer to him. Even though she could only see the back of him, Santana knew it was Brett.

"Hey soldier," she said before taking a seat next to him. He looked over at her. Santana could tell by his face that Brett was not expecting her. "What are you doing here?" He asked. "You really thought I wasn't going to try and find you?" San asked. "Well part of me assumed you would try but I didn't think you would succeed," Brett said, laughing a bit. "I didn't know where to start but Carrie knew exactly where you would be," Santana said. Brett nodded his head and chuckled, "should have known Carrie would give away my hiding spot." Santana leaned against Brett who moved his arm around her shoulders. "Is this where you always go when you go for a run?" She asked. "Yup," Brett said, staring at the views. "It's beautiful," San said. "Yeah, nice and peaceful, " Brett said, smiling.

"Do you want to talk about everything that just happened?" Santana asked, looking up at him. Brett let out a sigh and turned toward Santana. She brought her legs up on the bench and turned to look at Brett. "He is such an asshole," he said. "I know, I always knew something was up with him. I just didn't realize how bad it actually was." Santana said. Brett tucked her hair behind her ear. "You know what he said isn't true," Brett said. But before Santana could reply he cut her off, "I didn't know you when you were in high school but I do know that what Russell said is not right. I am also not here to take your friends or money. I just" he said, rambling. "Hey," Santana said, stopping him, "I don't care what Russell has to say about me. Everyone at that table knew he was trying to piss you off " She said.

"I hate that I let him get to me and I hate that he hurt you, Puck, and Quinn in the process," Brett said, visibly angry. "He is a monster, let's face it he likes to hurt people," she said, pulling his hand on her lap. "How is Quinn?" Brett asked, intertwining their fingers. "She is pretty upset but Puck is with her at home" Santana explained. Brett knew that this night was going to be hard but he didn't think it was going to be this bad. "And what about you?" Brett asked, looking at Santana. Brett could tell from the moment she sat down that something was bothering her. He couldn't let Santana be sad, if he could fix everything for her, Brett would.

San smiled softly, "I just want to go home and snuggle up in bed with you," she said. "You are such a cuddler," he said. "Don't act like you don't like it," Santana said, smirking. "That is very true, I love it," he admitted. Brett smiled, he got up and pulled her to her feet. "Get on the bench," Brett said. Santana looked at him confused. "Come on get up there," he said, laughing. Santana jumped up on the bench. Brett turned around, "get on gorgeous," he said. Santana shook her head and wrapped her arms around his neck and wrapped her legs around his waist. Brett hooked his arms around her thighs. "You cannot carry me all the way home, I am too heavy" she laughed, as he walked toward the exit. Brett laughed loudly, "you are tiny Tana, shut up," he said. Santana kissed his neck and moved her lips to his ear, "let's go home." She whispered.
